For decades , the Valentine Academy have been a secret organization . They will take in a handful of sixteen years olds , offering them a chance at power due to all the heartbreaks in their lives . They then get trained as skilled assassins , growing stone cold and strong . They suffered from too much pain in their lives because of love , whether it be romantic , platonic , or familial . They begin finding a home at the academy , but now they start developing genuine feelings for one another . They must do whatever they can to deny those feelings . Love is not accepted at the academy , only power . They are determined not to break that rule . Because if they can't have love , they want power .
