Chapter 21
I was woken up early by a call from Elena's phone. She had spent the night with Stefan at the Boarding House and wanted me to meet them there. I had no idea why, so I drove to the Boarding House as soon as I could.
I knocked on the door.
Damon opened it, looking in a good humor "Morning, banshewitch, come in, come in. We were waiting for you"
I stared at him warily, following him to the living room. "You better have a good explanation as to why I'm here, Elena" I told her as soon as I saw her, sitting next to Stefan, giving me a guilty smile. I glanced at Damon, "And why he's acting like that. It's even more creppy than him acting douchey"
Damon mocked hurt, placing a hand in his chest, "You wound me, little red" I rolled my eyes, "Now, in case you haven't heard, these two are going to help me get Katherine out of the tomb-"
"Well, these two are completely insane" I told them, giving Elena and Stefan an incredulous look, "Isn't that bitch trouble?"
"Trouble or not, they're gonna help me get her out" Damon told me seriously. I stared at him. Damon stared back. "And you're gonna help"
"I won't" I told him, crossing my arms, "I don't really understand why you'd pin after a woman for over a century or who knows how long without knowing if she feels the same. Probably she doesn't. And I don't understand why I have to help. I understand Elena, she offered but not me"
Honestly, I wasn't certain why I was still talking. My head was aware that poking the beast Damon was wouldn't get me nowhere but getting hurt but my mouth wouldn't stop; It was as if giving facts, as if I somehow knew my words were truthful.
Damon's eyes turned colder. "Well, I don't really care what you think. You're on help duty because Amelia's your ancestor, she and Emily owned that grimoire that spelled that tomb, so is your duty to find it, hence why you have to help Elena Gilbert on journal duty"
Stefan looked at me and Elena, "You two don't have to do anything you don't want to do"
I stared at Damon, narrowing my eyes.
"It's okay" I told them. Elena looked at me surprised. "I'll help Elena look for it. And not to help you, but to actually see my ancestor's grimoire"
Damon shrugged, "Suit yourself, as long as you two find me that grimoire"
I looked at Elena.
Elena sighed, giving me a grateful smile.
I didn't smile back. I couldn't believe they were going to help Damon open that tomb. Who knows how many vampires were there besides Katherine?
"How do we know that this journal will hold the location of the grimoire?" Stefan asked. "We're really going to take the word of this vampire? He seemed like a bit of a dimwit"
"In lieu of any other option" Damon told us.
Elena tilted her head, sighing "Okay, what exactly is a grimoire, anyway?"
"It's a witch's cookbook" Damon explained.
I gave him a look, pulling out Andrew's grimoire from my purse.
"Every spell that a witch casts is unique unto itself, so every witch would document their work" Stefan went on.
"Yeah" Damon told us, raising his eyebrows "Cookbook"
"Charming" I deadpanned, handing Elena the grimoire, giving him a sarcastic smile "But as far as I know withces don't cook. Grow up" I looked at Elena, "That's a grimoire"
Elena flipped it open, reading "Andrew? Who is he?"
I hesiated, "No one important"
Elena looked up, seeing some more pages, handing it to me, tilting her head aside curiously and suspiciously.
"What about our mystery vampire?" Stefan asked. "Dimwit obviously wasn't working alone, so whoever's out there knows who we are"
"And I don't like that disadvantage, so..." Damon trailed off, clapping twice "Chop, chop" He turned around, walking toward the door, turning to us, walking backwards toward the door. I looked at Elena and Stefan in annoyance, rolling my eyes. "You know, I really like this whole menage of foursome team thing. It's got a bit of a kink to it" Damon sang the next words "Don't screw it up"
I huffed in annoyance, "And here I thought I'd have a nice, peaceful morning" I stood, looking at Elena, "I promised to hang out at Bonnie's this morning. Call me when you actually start looking for the grimoire"
Elena nodded.
I walked out of the living room, going to the front foor, leaving the house.

I was at Bonnie's, sitting in her bed, watching as she got ready for her date with a guy named Ben. A jock who recently graduated.
"Stop messing with your hair" I told her in amusement, as she continued combing through her hair for the fourth time, trying different hairstyles, "You look hot, Bon-Bon"
Bonnie turned to me, smiling nervously, "I do, don't I?" I smiled, looking down at Andrew's journal. Bonnie recognized it from when we found it together, "Is that your dad's?"
"Yup" I answered, pulling the folded letter he wrote to me, handing it to Bonnie "He wrote something"
Bonnie read it, sitting on the bed.
I fidgeted with my hands as I waited for her to read it all.
Bonnie sighed, looking up "Well, that's a bullshit excuse for running away" I nodded, looking down, "Honestly he's missng out to see how wonderful and amazing you became"
I smiled a little, looking up "You mean it?"
Bonnie winked, smiling "Obviously. Us Bennett's must stick together" She grabbed my hand, squeezing in comfort. "You are my cousin. Jillian Bennett has a nice ring to it"
I made a face, "I preffer Soomers. No offense"
Bonnie shrugged, "I'll let it pass because Jenna is amazing" She looked curious, "Will you tell her, that you know about Andrew I mean"
I sighed, "That's the plan. And I have to think of a way to tell her I am a Banshee witch too. I don't want to leave her in the dark. She doesn't deserve it"
Bonnie smiled in understanding, "I know. And I'll have your back whenever you plan to tell her"
I smiled, "Thank you. And speaking of having each other's backs..."
Bonnie rubbed her lips nervously, "You'll have mine today?"
"Count me on that" I told her seriously, smiling.

I pocketed my phone after checking out with Elena. She and Stefan were looking through her family stuff for her ancestors diaries. Initially, I had accepted to be there to help but I didn't want to neglect my best friends so, Elena was alone for the moment until she found where the grimoire was. Until then, I was hanging out with Bonnie at the Grill.
I was watching Bonnie and Ben in their date, sitting near the back with a strawberry milkshake, so far their date had gone smoothly, though I had cringed when Ben was at the Karaoke.
I was watching them, smiling a small smile at Bonnie's smile. She had been nervous and at the beginning of the date, she kept glancing at me over her shoulder and like the best friend I was, every time she did so, I winked and flashed her thumbs up and I think my presence and support was helping her because in the last fifteen minutes, there hadn't been any glance backwards.
Or there was, but this time both Bonnie and Ben looked toward me.
I widened my eyes slightly, looking away as if I wasn't just spying on their date.
I heard Bonnie chuckle, "Yeah, Jill over there is the one who had my back tonight. She's great. And she's family. I don't know what I would do without any of them. We are bonded for life. I can't imagine it any other way. We're all sisters, I mean, I'd die for them"
I glanced at them. They had looked away from me, looking at each other. There was a thoughtful look on Ben's face I did not like at all. It sent shivers down my back and it was there when I realized I was finally telling apart my banshee powers.
Ben was up to no good.

Bonnie walked toward me.
I smiled mischeviously, standing up "So, spill. I saw a pretty whipped smile over there"
Bonnie tried to hide her smile, bitting her lip "He's great" She glanced toward Ben. He was sitting on their table, scrolling through his phone. "I mean, he knows you're chapperoning so he was okay when I told him I was saying hi to you"
I shoved her aside, scowling playfully "Shut up, Bon-Bon"
Bonnie chuckled, "Well, what can I say? He's a perfect gentleman"
I smiled teasingly "Gentleman, huh?"
"I know!" Bonnie told me. We both looked toward Ben for a moment, "Boring, huh? I just want to grab him and lay one on him"
"So, why don't you?" I asked. "All you have to do is give me the sign and I'll be gone"
Bonnie huffed, shaking her head "'Cause I'm a chicken"
I laughed slightly, incredulously "You're a powerful witch goddess. Come on, seize the day, Broom Hilda"
Bonnie laughed "Okay. I'll see what I'll do" I gave her a teasing smirk "Wipe that out of your face. I still need to plan how I'm gonna do this. I'll flip my hair or something"
I chuckled, "Go for it" I mimicked a tiger, winking playfully "Grr"
Bonnie rolled her eyes, smiling, laughing. "See you later..." She paused, raising her eyebrows "Or not"
I smirked.
Bonnie walked away.
My smile faded, looking after her in concern. "Please, be wrong this time about him"
I didn't want my best friend getting hurt. I don't want to be right about Ben being evil or something.

I was at the bathroom, trusting Bonnie to do the right thing, smiling slightly. Sudden gossebumps appeared in my arms, shivering slightly. My eyes snapped to my reflection. My eyes began to glow a light purple.
Bonnie was behind me, flickering in and out, as if she wasn't really here. "Help me, Jill"
The glow faded from my eyes, breathing in shock "Bonnie..."
I ran out of the bathroom, stopping when I saw Bonnie running toward me in panic. "Jill..."
Suddenly, Ben appeared in front of Bonnie.
Bonnie gasped, opening her mouth to scream.
Ben covered her mouth, turning to face me. His face was transformed, veins crawling underneath his eyes. "Get in or she dies"
I looked between them nervously, backing away toward the bathroom.
Ben followed, closing the door behind him.
