Chapter 14
Bonnie dropped me off at the Grill as they both wherever knows.
Bonnie had felt relieved she had got rid of the necklace and Emily but I couldn't say the same about me.
Amelia wasn't using an object to communicate with me. She was using our blood connection and my sleep to get inside my head.
I still didn't know why I picked up the amulet. It felt heavy on my pocket and I wanted to get rid of it too, but for some reason I couldn't force myself to throw it away.
I spotted my mom and Jeremy on a booth, looking over a man at the bar I recognized as my history teacher.
I made a face, walking closer "Tell me please you don't have your eye on my teacher, mom" I pleaded as a greeting.
Mom looked offended, "I'm not like that"
"She definitely had her eye on Mr. Saltzman, Jill." Jeremy piped, winking at mom playfully. She mock glared at him
"Oh, God no" I groaned, falling into the chair next to her. "He's hot but please not him"
"I'm not gonna flirt with him, Jillian. Stop being dramatic" Mom poked my forehead making me chuckle.
"I wasn't" I replied, "So, what were we talking about?" I looked at Jeremy expectantly
"Jenna was telling me about the Gilbert history stuff my dad had for my paper Mr. Saltzman gave me"
"He gave Jeremy a second chance" mom explained at my confused look. I grinned
"Awesome" I lightly punched his shoulder. "Mr. Saltzman's cool" I nodded in approval.
"Good to know you think that way of me, Ms Summers" I looked behind me to see aforementioned man standing there with a smile, "Jeremy, what's up man?"
Jeremy smiled, flashing us a mischievous smile, "This is my aunt Jenna and Jillian's mother"
I gave him a look as mom shook his hand, politely "Alaric Saltzman. It's nice to meet you"
Jeremy shrugged innocently
"Jeremy was just telling me about his paper" Mom told him ?Thanks for giving him another chance"
Mr Saltzman smiled "It was my first day. I wanted to make a good impression"
Mom smiled.
I gave her an exasperated look.
No flirting huh?

"Impossible" I murmured, opening the door with my key, "Can't have my mom meeting new guys cause she flirts with them. I love her but...ugh"
"Someone's on a mood" Caroline's chirpy voice made me look up to see her standing at the doorframe from the kitchen, wearing a smirk
"You would if your mom was flirting with your new hot teacher" I replied, throwing my keys to the bowl near the entrance of the house
Caroline made a face, "Oh. Yeah. I guess I understand that" she giggled
"Jenna and Mr. Saltzman?" Bonnie peeked her head out with an amused grin, "I see it happening"
I looked at my friends -Yes, I referred Caroline as my friend. We made peace last night, sue me- exasperated. "Not you too. First Jeremy and now you"
"The would look cute" Elena said with a smile. She had almost all the kitchen out so that meant she was preparing dinner.
"Ha, ha" I said sarcastically, putting my jacket and purse on a chair next to Bonnie's things.
I started helping Elena but I couldn't help but notice the tension between Bonnie and Carolinez furrowing my eyebrows and giving my cousin a questioning look.
Elena sighed, briefly closing her eyes. 'They're on a fight' she mouthed at me.
I nodded in understanding, starting to cut the tomatoes.
Suddenly Caroline sighed "I'm sorry" I looked up, startled "There. I said it. If you want the ugly-ass necklace, keep it. It's yours"
Bonnie looked guilty "Will you hate me if I tell you I threw it away?"
I looked at Bonnie sympathetically
"You threw it away?" Caroline repeated annoyed
"I know it sounds crazy, but the necklace was giving me nightmares. I had to get rid of it" Bonnie explained, hushed
"You could have just given it back to me" Caroline told her
Elena interrupted "Why? So you could give it back to Damon?"
Caroline looked upset "Screw Damon" I raised my eyebrows surprised. "Are we doing manicures or what? Who has their kit?"
"Mine's in my bag" Bonnie told her.
Caroline nodded, starting to riffle through Bonnie's bag. I started panicking as I spotted from here the necklace in my jacket. I could have sworn I shoved it deeply inside it
"So, Elena...how long do you think this fight with Stefan's gonna last? Is it...like a permanent thing?" Caroline asked my cousin
"I don't know, Caroline"
I could tell the shift within Caroline as soon as she saw the necklace on my jacket. She huffed angrily, whirling around to face us, "Why are you such a little liar, Bonnie?"
"What?" Bonnie looked startled
Elena looked stonished "Caroline!"
Caroline held up the crystal, and Bonnie and Elena gaped at her in shock.
"I'm not lying to you, Caroline. I swear" Bonnie explained in a hush
"It's true. I watched her throw it into a field!" Elena exclaimed
"Then you threw something else because you do the same all the time when you don't want me getting my stuff back. You give them to Jillian knowing I wouldn't reach out to her" Caroline pointed at me, frustrated.
"Don't put me in the middle" I raised my hands up, eyes widening.
Bonnie frowned, "I didn't give it to Jill" she looked at me accusingly, "I threw it away"
My eyes widened, gaping at her "I-I.. I didn't mean to Bonnie. I never realized when I grabbed it back. I realized when I was at the Grill"
"Emily made you" Bonnie whispered in sudden fright, "Or Amelia"
"Amelia?" Elena looked at me confused
"Who are Emily and Amelia?" Caroline looked at me and Bonnie confused.
"The ghosts" Bonnie replied, not taking her eyes off me.
I matched her stare, slightly scared myself of doing something a ghost wanted me to do.
"Oh, so the ghosts have names now?" Caroline mocked us
"Caroline, please" Elena pleaded softly. "Jill?"
"I didn't want you to worry" I replied, looking away from Bonnie.
Bonnie looked at Elena too, "I wonder why she won't leave me alone. And why she got Jill into the middle of this"
I kept my mouth shut. I still hadn't told her we both were family. So it was normal she didn't understand why Emily reached out to me too. She didn't know we were related.
"What is going on? Why am I not a part of this conversation?" Caroline looked upset and hurt "You guys do this to me all the time"
"That's not true" Elena looked taken back
"Yes it is" Bonnie and I replied together
"I can't talk to you. You don't listen" Bonnie told her.
Caroline looked hurt "That's not true"
"I'm a witch" Bonnie told her. I felt glad she didn't get me on their argument, it still felt weird being in the same room as Caroline without us being the ones arguing
"And don't we all know it?" Caroline rolled her eyes
Bonnie pointed at her "That's what I'm talking about. I'm trying to tell you something. You don't even hear it
"I listen" Caroline threw her hands up, sighing "When do I not listen?"
I didn't say a thing, looking at her sympathetically.
Wow. I really did forgave Caroline.
