The Beginning

"Remember what I told you, Tyler!" Mom reminded for the thousandth time. I giggled and squirmed anxiously as she tied my boots. "Everyone is unique, you, Neo, and Pulse won't be judged." She assured.
"Mom, hurry!" Neo whined. He was just as anxious as I was. I grinned at him. He annoyingly stuck his tongue out, I returned the gesture.
"Alright you two," my oldest brother, Demo, said. "Calm down," he grinned excitedly. He was anxious for his first day of 4th grade. Neo and I both stuck out tongues out at him. He returned the gesture annoyedly. Mom sighed heavily with her ever growing annoyance.
"Get in the car," she ordered. My shoes were done being tied for me. I chased my siblings outside after grabbing my two bags. Today was going to be great!

The day was great. I met my now best friend, Kristen. She's really sweet and funny and she gave me some of her snack! Currently, we were at recess! It was so cool! The playground was like a castle! I chased Kristen around excitedly. She said her power was "Clairvoyant," whatever that meant. We weren't aloud to show our powers inside, since some of them were dangerous. The only two places we could show them off were in PEor at recess. In PE they said they're teaching us how to use our powers.
"Catch me if you can!" Kristen giggled. I tripped when I tried to run faster. I started crying, my knees, hands, and cheek were bleeding. "Teacher! Teacher!" Kristen cried. She sounded scared. An adult rushed over. They checked on me, then had Kristen walk me to the health room.
The nurse cleaned my owies and put band-aids on them. I squirmed the whole time. I didn't like band-aids on my face. It felt weird. The bell rang, making my recess end. I pouted. No fair...
"Do you want me to walk you back to class?" Miss. Nurse asked kindly.
"I remember the way!" I beamed proudly. "I'm smart 'cause I'm 5!" I announced proudly. She laughed. That made me feel better. "I'll go back, bye bye!" I called and walked out of the nurses office. I couldn't get the big door open to go back to class. It was so heavy! It opened from the other side, I backed up quickly before I was hit. Demo had pushed the door open. He looked down at me confusedly. "Bubba!" I giggled. I noticed my class walking back. "Gotta go!" I yelled and ran off. I heard Demo sigh behind me.
After recess, we got another snack. We also got to draw and listen to Miss. Teacher read a story! It was even better since Kristen and I sat together. We got in trouble for talking, though. I had a problem with not talking, since I had trouble not sitting still. I either moved around too much, or wouldn't be quiet. It got me in trouble quite often.

I smiled at the memory. I was staring out the window of a car. Sin was whining since he didn't get to go potty. I was in a new place with strangers talking my ear off. I had spaced out and wasn't listening. These strangers were my supposed "family." According to the adoption agency, at least. It was a nice thought, but these people weren't my family. Not really. I don't even know their names. I wish Kristen's family had fostered me...
"Tyler, are you listening?" The adult male asked. I looked over quickly.
"Huh? Oh- uh... Sure." I replied panickedly. He sighed.
"We were talking about the rules." He reminded. I stared at him threw the rear-view mirror blankly. I examined his face, or what I could see of his face. His blonde and graying hair was pushed back in an orderly fashion, very "sophisticated." He was frowning almost. He didn't seemed to excited to have me here. His eyes were hard to see, since he was wearing sunglasses. His skin was tanned. His head turned slightly, he looked back at the road. I watched. He started over with the explanation. "You will call me 爸爸 (Bàbà) (Mandarin Chinese for "Father"). Understand?"
"'Kay," I nodded.
"And you can call me 妈妈 (Māmā) (Mandarin Chinese for "Mother"). Okay?" The "mother" figure in the car told me in a softer tone. I looked at her, she was facing me. She was smiling softly, her chocolate brown eyes were closed. She had her long black hair pulled into a pony tail. Her skin was lighter, more pale, but still tanned. She was wearing make up, not to hardcore, just skin tone matching. She was wearing dark red lipstick which didn't seem to match her other makeup. I hesitantly sent a not-so-sharp smile back.
"You don't have a specific time for sleep, anytime before midnight. You're homework must be completed as soon as you get home. You may have a snack if you so chose. You must take care of your dog, we will buy anything it needs, but you will take care of it if you want it to stay." 爸爸 (Bàbà) instructed.

"He," I corrected calmly.
"Excuse me?" 爸爸 (Bàbà) growled.
"Sin is a boy," I replied.
"Whatever, you will not cuss when you are around me or your mother, you will do chores, you may hang out with your friend in this area as you please as long as your work has been done. When you are 16 you are expected to get a job and license. Do not get in trouble at school. We will support you in whatever decisions you make in life-"
"That is a contradictory statement." I muttered.
"You will NOT interrupt me or talk back. You will eat your meals at the table. Snacks are not allowed in rooms. When we eat as a family electronics are not allowed. We will buy you snacks or any food you please... Uh..." He mumbled in thought. "That's it. We will help you decorate your room, if you like." He offered. His tone sounded hopeful.
"No thanks," I muttered. I looked back out the window boredly. This place sucks... So do those rules.
