Chapter 09

The loud cheers of Gryffindors erupted the Quidditch field as Jenna held up the snitch triumphantly. The rest of team flew downward and landed next to her, patting Jenna proudly on the back.

As the crowd started to leave the stands and return to their common rooms, the team's players went to their separate locker rooms.

"Marlene you did amazing!" Jenna told her after they had changed.

"Meh, me and your other chaser each only got one in." she shrugged. "James scored us forty points."

"Yeah, he was great." Jenna smiled proudly, even though she was never going to admit it to James himself. He was already cocky enough as it was.

Just then, the door to the girls' locker room opened and Lily and Alice burst in happily, taking turns to hug Jenna and Marlene.

"You guys were amazing out there!" said Lily brightly.

"Thanks," Jenna nodded. "I'm so glad you both came to watch the match."

"Of course! We wouldn't have missed it for the world!" said Alice kindly, giving Jenna another tight hug.

"Anyway," Lily started, "they're throwing a party in the common room. You better hurry. They're waiting for you."

"Oh, I love that they throw parties each time we win!" Marlene clapped her hands together excitedly. "There is always a lot of snacks!"

"Which reminds me," said Jenna, "I better go and find James and Sirius. They could help me get the snacks from the kitchen. You guys go up. I'll catch up with you later."

They all nodded and made their way back to the castle, meanwhile Jenna walked towards the boys' locker room.

"Hey, Clint." Jenna smiled at the sixth year Gryffindor keeper as he walked out of the locker room.

"Hey, Captain." He grinned teasingly. "Nice game."

"Yeah, good job!" Jenna nodded brightly. "Are Sirius and James still in there?"

"Yeah, they just got out of shower." Clint nodded. "They're the only ones left."

"Alright, thanks," said Jenna. "They're throwing a party in the common room, by the way. I'll see you there."

"See you, then." Clint waved, so off he went and Jenna walked inside the locker room.

"I asked her out five times this week, Padfoot! Five times!" Jenna heard James say when she got in, so she hid herself behind the locker room's wall, eavesdropping shamelessly.

"Maybe you're saying it wrong?" said Sirius.

"Is there a wrong way to say, 'go out with me, Evans'?"

"I don't know. Maybe," Sirius shrugged.

"Padfoot, you were there for each time I've asked her out in the past four years! How could you not know!?"

"Maybe it's something in the way you look at her when you say it." Sirius said thoughtfully. "Trust me, I know. How do you think I've gone out with three girls just in the last month?"

James shook his head in disbelief at his friend's arrogance. "Fine! what should I do?" He finally gave up and said.

"Here, say it to me," Sirius suggested, "maybe then I can tell you what you're doing wrong."

"Alright," James sighed, putting a hand on Sirius's shoulder and looking into his eyes before saying, "Will you go out with me?"

Finding the moment perfect, Jenna jumped out from behind the wall, saying with a grin, "Well, well! Look what we have here," causing the two boys to give out a yelp, jerking five feet apart from each other in horror.

"What are you doing here!?" James spat, but Jenna decided to ignore him.

"Tsk tsk," Jenna shook her head, "asking Sirius out in the middle of a boys' locker room, half naked? Honestly, J.P, I'm disappointed in you; I thought you were more romantic than that."

"You're not supposed to be in a boys' locker room!" Sirius snapped.

"And now I can clearly see why," she said with a grin, but then laughed, shaking her head to change the subject and saying,

"They're throwing a small party in the common room. I came here to ask if you wanted to come with me to get some snacks from the kitchen. But I guess I'll just leave you two love birds alone."

She left the room before the boys could retort, but didn't lose her chance to shout back at them, "Don't forget to use protection!"

As the four Marauders accompanied Jenna down to the kitchen, James and Sirius were unusually quiet, meanwhile Jenna had the widest grin on her face.

But for some reason, no matter how hard Jenna tried, she couldn't wipe the image of Sirius shirtless off her mind. It wouldn't take an idiot to realize how good he was.

"You did a great job out there, Jenna." said Remus, smiling kindly down at her, snapping her back to reality.

"Thanks, Remus." it took every ounce of self control she could muster to prevent her hair to turn pink.

"Okay, here we are." James said the first words he had uttered ever since they had left the locker room.

James raised his hand as they reached a portrait of a fruit bowl and tickled the pear. The fruit gave out a little giggle and it swung open, revealing the enormous kitchen.

With their hands full of food and snacks which the elves had provided for them, the five Gryffindors returned back to their common room.

The moment they swung the portrait of the Fat Lady and walked inside, they were welcomed with cheers and roars of applause.

James and Sirius raised their arms in the air triumphantly, chanting, "Gryffindor! Gryffindor!" And everybody joined in a matter seconds.

Moments later, the voice was drowned by the loud sound of music as it filled up the whole room. Some helped themselves to snacks and others were dancing like nothing else mattered.

Remus and Peter had joined Sirius and James who were telling them how awesome they'd been on the field, as a crowd had gathered around them, listening eagerly.

Although Jenna had distanced herself from the loud crowd as she sat on the couch before the fireplace, gazing into it with a smile on her face.

But she was drawn back to reality when she felt someone take the seat beside her. Looking up, she saw Sirius there, grinning broadly.

"What? Came to tell me how kick-ass you were in the field?" Jenna asked, returning the grin.

"That too," Sirius smirked, leaning back on the couch and locking his arms behind his head coolly. "But mainly, I wanted to thank you."

"Thank me?" Jenna took aback.

"Well, yeah." Sirius smiled, sitting straight up and looking into her eyes with something other than mischief. Something Jenna had never seen in him before. "I mean, you were a kick ass captain too."

He nudged her playful with his elbow, making Jenna chuckled. "Thanks, Sirius. You have no idea how much that means to m–"

But she didn't get the chance to finish her sentence as she was interrupted by a group of fourth year girls as they gathered around where Sirius sat.

"You were amazing out there!" one of them exclaimed.

"Oh, yeah!" another one nodded excitedly. "When you blocked that second bludger! It was fantastic!"

"Well, thanks," Sirius grinned arrogantly, leaning back on the couch again. "But I was actually talking to–"

"Oh, the way you knocked off Tom Walker!" said the third girl. "I was so shocked!"

"Yeah, well," Sirius shrugged carelessly, as if being humble.

Jenna pursed her lips together. "Typical Mr. Black," she mumbled to herself as she got off the couch, walking away.

"Jenna, wait–!" Sirius tried to call her, but he was cut off when one of the girls accidentally fell onto his lap, apologizing as she giggled.

Sirius frowned. For some reason unknown to him, he felt hurt by Jenna's words. But why? Why would he even care what she thought of him?

So then he shook his head of the thought, grinning back at the blonde girl who was lingering on his lap and so he wrapped a friendly arm around her waist.
