14 years later

"Stop worrying, they'll be fine," I sighed, giving Draco a sympathetic smile from across the room. His elbows were propping him up on the kitchen counter, his head resting in his hands lazily as he was looking at nothing in particular to his left.

He scrunched up his nose at my words, though turned his head to look at me intently. "Will they?"

"Oh my— of course," I emphasised, the utter helplessness in his eyes making me get up from my spot on the divan to walk over to him. "Was I fine when I first arrived—?" I asked rhetorically, trailing off half-way through the question as a smirk found its way to my lips. "Come to think of it; I did meet you on my first day, so I'm not quite sure about—" I began, voice dripping in sarcasm as I watched his reaction carefully.

The corner is his mouth twitched into a smile only for a mere second before he interrupted me sharply.

He straightened his back, arms crossing in front of his chest. "I dare you to finish that sentence, missy," He challenged, eyebrows raising as he waited for me to retaliate.

Though, I was just glad he was finally loosening up a bit; getting used to the idea of his children leaving for Hogwarts tomorrow.

Not that it was an easy concept for me to grasp, either. But he sure seemed to take it worse than I was.

When he noticed I wasn't going to say anything else, he hummed contently at the fact before his eyes found their way onto mine again.

"What about quidditch?" He continued. "Do you think they'll make the team?" I repressed the urge to sigh at his continuous questions as if we hadn't already talked about this at least five times, reminding myself it was just because he cared.

And I remembered times where that was a rare sight.

"Well, divination was never a strong subject of mine, but—"

"—None of them were," He smirked proudly, and I gave him my best eye roll, completely forgetting what I originally wanted to say.

"All I know is they won't be buying their way onto the team," I shrugged in a teasing tone, raising my eyebrows accordingly.

The surprise on his face was quickly replaced with narrowing eyes and a scowl on his lips, an exasperated sigh accompanying the look.

"I really need to talk to your bloody brother about keeping his mouth shut about certain things," He muttered irritated, leaning himself against the kitchen counter with a shake of his head. "Or was it Weasley, this time? Wren, maybe?" He followed up, an eyebrow raised in interest now.

Though, his inquiries only made me snort humorously, shaking my head in disbelieve.

"Let's just say I have my sources," I shrugged, giving him a wink right as two pairs of footsteps were heard racing towards us.

Adhara was quicker, standing proudly before us before her brother had even made it through the doorway. Though, he turned the corner soon after, a face just as expectant as his sisters now.

While she quickly blew the strand of blonde out of her face, fallen into it probably during their race down the stairs, Rigel reached his hand up to his brown hair in hopes to fix the mess it was in; to no avail.

Despite the opposite hair colours, their mannerisms were still twin-like.

"All packed for tomorrow?" Draco wondered, ruffling through Adhara's hair and earning him a stern glare as she forcefully pushed his hand away with a huff.

"Yep," Rigel replied instead, watching his sister with an amused gleam in his eyes.

"We'll be off to Diagon Alley now, then. Aunt Wren and Luna are dropping Scorpius off again at five sharp—" Adhara quickly cut me off.

"I wanted to talk to you about something, actually—" She trailed off, blue eyes wide open as they looked at me curiously.

I gave Draco a quick look, though he looked just as confused as I was.

"Sure, little one," I assured, looking at her with a small smile on my face and my brows raised. And before I knew it, she dragged me up the stairs and into her father's study.

I hardly came in here, but I knew she was every opportunity Draco gave her. There were more than a few occasions where I found them both asleep in the chair behind his desk; Adhara on his lap, while Draco's head hung low.

She seemed to want something in particular in here, strutting towards the large shelf filled with all sorts of artefacts. The darker ones on the top shelves where the kids couldn't reach, of course.

She only let go of my wrist once we stood right in front of it, her head angled up to look at one of the higher shelves.

"Do we have to go and get me a wand?" She asked suddenly, eyes falling onto me. Her voice was quiet and timid, and I furrowed my brows at that.

Her voice was hardly ever timid; A Malfoy through and through.

"How would you do magic, otherwise, Adhara?" I asked rhetorically, though bent down to level my eyes with hers. She quickly shook her head, turning her head away from the shelf again to look at me.

"No—" She protested. "No, I mean— Why do we have to go to Olivander's for my wand? Can't I just have daddy's? It looks so pretty in its glass box," She pouted, eyes trailing back up.

At least I knew what she was looking at as I followed her gaze, and it fell right on the elder wand.

She was right. It did look pretty in its glass box.

I didn't think he touched it since he got it.

I huffed lightly, then, a little relieved that's all that was bothering her.

"No, darling, you can't," I explained swiftly, watching the disappointment settle in her eyes. "You know how upset your brother would be if you were running around Hogwarts with the elder wand, and he wasn't," I continued, raising my brows as I explained it further.

She sighed loudly but nodded in agreement.

"Unless you want to snap it in half and share it with him?" I offered, humoured by my own suggestion as I watched her eyes widen in panic.

"Merlin, mum, no!" She shrieked in horror, excessively shaking her head to emphasise.

"Alright, then," I sighed with a giggle, and she seemed to calm down once she noticed the idea slipped my mind again. "But why don't you ask your father whether he'll let you take a closer look one day? Perhaps when you and your brother come home over Christmas?" I suggested as we made our way back down the stairs, and her eyes widened once again as she nodded.

"Do you think he'll let me before we go, even?" She asked, her voice a few pitches higher as excitement struck her. "Maybe after dinner?"

I pretend to think about her words, humming as if deep in thought.

"Only one way to find out, Adhara." I nodded towards Draco, the blonde standing at the end of the corridor, leaning against the wall and waiting for us. Rigel mirroring him as best as he could.

Her gaze followed mine, and she nodded frantically once more before she ran off to put her shoes on. Curiously, her brother followed her just as quickly.

"Only one way to find out what, exactly?" Draco asked with interest, his eyes following the two until he couldn't see them anymore.

"Wouldn't you like to know, Malfoy," I teased, and he huffed in amusement.

"Yes, actually, I'd love to know— Malfoy."

A/N: How the fuck do I even end this.
