Revenge And Tragedy : part two.
Years Later.......
The creaky ship that held a hundred slaves plus it's crew rocked back and forward on the ocean as a young woman sat on it's floor. In chains, and stuck in a cell crammed with 12 other people .
A cough was heard on the other side as well as a groan . As not all were healthy..
And why would anyone care if they were or not? After all, they were just 'cargo' .
She sighed, turning her attention to the creak of wood. Signaling someone was coming down... Flinching, she waited for the beatings that'd never come. Curious as to why they did not, her eyes went upwards. Bringing their gaze upon a man standing there.
He was dressed in uniform to those serving on this ship. But something set him apart from the other men. The ones that usually came down..
There was a softness to his eyes, as well as something of a mixture of pity and slight anger. His hair was dark and long, going to his shoulders, put back into a ponytail . Though it looked as if they had once been in several braids. And he did not seem like he was from England. With their usual stuck up air. But he almost seemed pirate like. Or had been at one time.
"Transportin' 'cargo'." He said, almost bitterly as he looked about the cramped brig. "So this is what he meant."
"You must be new.".. An old woman muttered with hatred and distaste. A chuckle racking her throat. She mumbled something else too, but it was in a language that even Cora did not understand. "This is a slave boat, took hundreds of our people. And only few of yours. If that number was more, I'd be satisfied." She added vengefully.
The man gave a quiet sigh, shaking his head. "I'm not here to hurt any of ye." He murmured. "If I can, I want to help."
"Help?" The woman laughed, almost madly . "If you want to help, you can die like the rest of them." She spat. "Or maybe you can kill us, then we'd be free to join our many ancestors in the great hunting grounds of the sky."
He bent down besides her as he pulled something from his pocket. Gently taking her wrist in his hands as he picked at the lock. Undoing the chains around them.
She looked up at him in shock and mistrust as he went to the next person. Silently doing the same until at last he came to Cora. Undoing hers as well.
"Why are you doing this?" She softly asked, meeting his gaze as his eyes locked onto hers. "We're meant to be here, they're transportin' us to the next highest bidder. Like we deserve to be."..
"Because people aren't cargo mate." He gently explained as her chains fell to the floor with a quiet clank. "They deserve to be free "..
"What's you're name?" She asked, as he turned to go back up the creaky stairs.
He paused, standing so he was facing her again.
"Jack Sparrow."
He smiled softly, tipping his hat as he went.
Then was gone once again.
Cora watched him disappear as she said a silent prayer of thanks and relief. As well as for hope.
For she was falling for the Sparrow.
The only one who had the courage to set her free..
