Chapter 1: Intensity & Death Warrants
Chapter 1: Intensity And Death Warrants
"Bread's Mushy.
Chicken's furry.
Beef's Spongy.
The drink's Un-drinkery." I say examining the food.
"Is that even a word?" The waiter says with an annoyed look on his face, fed up with my 'compliments'. I've been sitting here all day admiring this so called of a business and this is how he repays me? Huh, should've thought about Krabby Patties first.
"Well, if I said it and used it. I'm pretty sure it's a word by now." I roll my eyes at him. This dude really needs to get a grip. He's so pessimistic that he turns this whole cafe dull. Talk about putting Mr. Dull to shame.
"Come on Thea, could you stop coming here during my work hours and trying to ruin my life!" The waiter says rolling his eyes.
Exaggerating much?
"I don't know what you're talking about and who's this 'Thea girl,' but I'm sure she's hot," I say flipping my hair and winking at him.
"Get. Out." He glares at me pointing his notepad towards the door. Isn't he supposed to attract customers? Not throw them out?
"Excuse me, sir? Where are your manners? I'm afraid you're being rude to a customer." I gesture toward me.
"Well, you aren't a customer or even a girl. Forget girl you aren't a human!" He yells out dramatically. He hits his notepad on the table glaring at me with those beady, blue eyes.
"I need to speak to your boss," I tell him standing up from my seat and putting my hand on my hips looking for the person who hired him in the first place.
I mean he's worthless and the manager better give me a discount because not only does the food stink, but the employees are rude too.
"Thea? What the hell are you doing?" The stranger/waiter asks me gripping my hand. I pull away from his tug and walk over to the counter.
"Excuse me? Can I speak to the manager please?" I ask the girl in the uniform, sitting at the counter looking down her phone. When she hears my voice, her head snaps in my direction with a grimace look on her face.
"Wha?" She says like she couldn't care less about her job or the customers. What kind of management is this?
The Counter lady chews her chewing gum blowing a big bubble and popping it with her tongue putting it back in her mouth.
"Come on Thea. What are you trying to do? Get me fired? Again! Can you stop?!" Theo pleases tugging my arm. Times like this he seems so desperate, it feels so good to have control over him. It makes me feel mature and wiser.
"Can I see the manager please?" I repeat not bothering to give Theo a glance when I say my words to the lady at the desk she nods her head and picks the phone from the counter dialing a number (probably the manager)
After a few rings later she speaks into the phone.
"Excuse me, ma'am. What's your name?" The Lady asks me holding the phone over her chest.
"Thea. Thea Maxwell." I tell her feeling proud of my name. I'm very well known in this place, and not to mention I'm very popular.
She passes some words into the phone before nodding and putting the phone back in its place.
"I'm sorry but he says that he can't talk to you that he has some meetings." I nearly snorted at what she said because Austin never had a social life or meetings. He never showed up to work and would always just hire random people without even questioning them. Example Theo's lack of waiting skills.
I keep my thought to myself nodding at the counter-lady before retreating back to my seat.
Theo huffs in relief before getting back to work ignoring me. I watch Theo struggle with his job, halfway laughing through his "almost tripping" sessions.
Theo glares at me when he crashes on his butt slipping over an ice cream that a customer must have dropped. I laugh so loud that people gave me weird looks. Not that I'd care. The ice cream Theo was sitting on was smudged all over his pants. When he tried to get up he slips and ends up falling face-forward on the floor.
A blond girl approaches him handing him a hand and a towel. Her face had a worried expression while Theo was face palming.
"Hey, brother!" I greet Theo after his conversation with the Blondie by slapping his back laughing at his reaction afterward.
"Ouch! What was that for?!" He says rubbing his back which must have been bruised right now from my enormous hands.
"For being an idiot at work. Don't you think that you aren't good at being a waiter? Why are you even working here? You never liked waiting." I threw at him a bunch of questions giving him a curious glance trying to read his expression.
I could see he was... nervous? Why would he be nervous?
"That's not true I love waiting!" He defends himself lying straight to my face. He's suspicious of something and I know it. I could read him like a book.
"Yeah sure," I trailed off rolling my eyes at him. He literally just told me last week that he loathed waiting. It was like one of his nightmares since he was sixteen. He worked at a frozen yogurt store. He didn't know how to use the frozen yogurt machine so he ended up breaking it and didn't know how to stop it, so he had to get plenty of buckets, but he ended up getting the whole store froyo-ed and got fired. The kids at school made fun of him for months and called him "The Frosaster". In my case hilarious!
"What do you want?" he sighs running his hand through his hair. Nawwwh. My brother knew me too well.
"What? Can't a sister come to watch her brother dearest work?" I lie through my mouth. My brother would never believe any of my lies. He pretty much can read my thoughts. He also probably knows my Friday plans. Not that it wasn't guessable anyway.
"Yeah right. You wouldn't even want to come to this place for water." He points at the shack's roof.
"Fine." I huff throwing in the towel. I clasp my hands together a bit nervous and bite my lip for asking him this question. Theo gives me a raised eyebrow before sighing.
"You can have the car." He simply states. A look of disbelief takes over my face as I examine my brother to see if it was really him.
"How did you know?" I question going easy with the eyes.
"Thea you've basically come over to my apartment begging me the whole week to let you have my car. You'd not think you didn't come here for that too? Plus the lip biting when you're nervous." He knows me far too well. I should probably give him an award.
"Aww thanks, bro!" I punch him lightly on the shoulder.
"Don't you have your first day of school to go to?" He raises his eyebrow, dangling the car keys in front of my face. I grin so wide that I felt my face tear.
"I owe you tons!" I give him a tight hug ruffling his hair. Theo facepalms before glaring at me for ruining his hair.
"Now leave before I change my mind. Oh and not a word about this to Dad." He gives me a pointed finger. I nod my head cheerfully before exiting the store.
I can't believe he just gave it to me. The last the time I asked him for the car keys I almost fell into a hole, and not to mention yesterday when I tried stealing it from his apartment he caught me halfway through me stealing them. He and his roommate chased me around the whole building trying to snatch the keys away from me, and not to mention getting complaints from the neighborhood.
"What should I do? Go to the beach? Go to China? Oh, maybe Paris? Oh, what about Hawaii?!"
"Or maybe school." I look up from my keys to a man standing in front of me. He was a bald old man wearing a suit with a red tie. His belt buckle slightly pulled down because of his oversized bump on his stomach, which made him look pregnant.
"Oh hi, Pimp!" I greet the old man who has pretty much full access to my grades and everything about me.
"It's principle Den to you, and why aren't you in school Ms. Maxwell?" He questions me. Principle Den is one of those principles who'd immediately give you detention if you did something wrong, he liked it when you pleased him for something like he was some kind of King. I'm not even sure how he got the job.
"Why aren't you in school, principle Den?" I turn the question around.
"See you around Ms. Maxwell, and don't be late or you'll get detention." He hesitates to ignore my question walking away from me to his car and drives off. I knew his secret and he knew that I knew it.
And that's how you get rid of suspicious people who don't mind their own business. Example: teachers.
So where was I? Hawaii... Oh, what about Starbucks island?! Perfect! And I can order a Mocha Chocolate!
I turn around from where Mr. Den had just driven off to and bumped into someone. Hot, steaming liquid spills all over my chest and jeans. I wince, jumping slightly at the contact. I look at the idiot that got in my way and was met with emerald green eyes.
I nearly had a heart attack when I recognized it was Jayden McCole, the school's bad boy looking down at his now soaked shirt. He looks up in annoyance glaring at me.
"Are you blind!?" He growls looking at me with anger. I felt the need that he wanted to punch me right now so I backed away from him a little, almost tripping on the puddle of coffee on the floor. "Can you not see?" His green eyes deeply narrowed at me. I flinched a little at the intensity of how his looks could legit kill.
"Can 'you' not see? Idiot." As soon as those words left my mouth, I mentally slapped myself in the face a couple of times. It's like I was signing up my own death warrant.
"What did you say to me?!" He shouted. I felt the need to just run away and hide behind a big shield to protect myself from this monster in front of me. He's eyes were burning with fury as he looked at me. I swear I think I saw steam come out of his ears.
"I- I." My tongue was tied up and I couldn't talk because of how frightened I was. I shook my head at him hoping that he'd just leave me alone. Jayden took a step closer to me, his nose was flaring and his hands were tightly clenched like he was trying to hold back the need to just swing his fist through my face.
"That's what I thought." He growls clenching his jaw. He grabs my arm and pulls me with him. I try tugging away from his grip but he's hands were glued to my arm. I flinch at his tight hold.
"W- what a- are y- you d- doing?" I stutter feeling like I was going to pee my pants.
There were many reasons why nobody talked to Jayden McCole and one of them was because he had a bad temper, and not to mention the mood swings. I heard rumors about him, a lot. Some said that he nearly beat a guy to death because the guy accidentally spilled some juice on Jayden's Lamborghini Veneno. There was another rumor that said that he punched a teacher because he slapped Jayden on the back when he was sleeping. The poor guy had to go to the hospital and Jayden got out of being expelled because of his dad who was apparently loaded, bribed the school with money. This was the guy that my mother once told me to stay away from. My dad told me not to look at and my brother warned me about.
"You are going to sneak into my house and get me a new t-shirt because you fucking ruined this one!"

Hey, guys! I'm Th, you could call me that. Anyways this was the first chapter and what do you think about it? My first book ever! Anyways I hoped you enjoyed reading it.
This book will be a bit filled with intensity, probably humor (if you find me funny), and let's not forget weirdness.
And yes I've figured out this book pretty much, tried to figure it out. The title isn't so much of a good one but I'll get one better while I'm writing it. I hope you enjoyed it!
Don't forget to vote and comment!!
