AIDEN AND I WALK down the red carpet, our arms locked together. Screens of pictures are lined up till the entrance of the door. Pictures of the seniors fade in and out of the screens every minute.

"Hey, isn't that you?" Aiden asks, pointing to a screen.

I look at the picture he's pointing at and my face falls. The picture is of Elena and I, our smiles bright as we stood in the field in our cheerleading outfits.

"No, that was me." I mumbled.

Aiden said nothing as we continued our way to the entrance of the prom that Caroline had created.

"Hold on sec, I'll go get us drinks." Aiden says before he leaves my side.

I walk further into the room wearing silver heels paired with a red gown with a slit on the right, showing off my leg. My hair's a wavy mess that falls on my shoulders.

"Here." Aiden appears beside me with two cups of punch.

"Is it spiked?" I ask and Aiden sniffs it before he nods.

I take the cup from his hand and down it all at once. Aiden whistles as I throw the cup somewhere behind me.

"Care to dance?" Aiden asks, holding his hand out for me.

I place my hand in his before he pulls me to the dance floor where he twirls me and presses me against his body. A slow yet seductive song plays as other couples move around the dance floor.

"You look very beautiful today." Aiden compliments.

"I look beautiful everyday." I say.

Aiden laughs, "Can't argue with it."

Suddenly, Aiden grabs my leg through the slit of my dress and dips me down. I smirk at him as he brings his face closer to mine.

Someone clears their throat and I look up to see Damon's face over us, his smile forced as he looks at me. I sigh in annoyance just Aiden brings me back to both my feet.

"May I have this dance?" Damon asks, holding out his hand.

"No." I turn back around to Aiden but Damon doesn't take no for an answer.

He grabs my hand and twirls me around until my front body is pressed up against his. I growl under my breath as he places one of his hand on my lower back and the other one engulfing my hand.

"Oh, stop resisting me." Damon says, "We both know you couldn't wait to dance with me."

"Right, 'cuz dancing with you has always been the highlight of my day." I mutter sarcastically.

"Surprised you've admitted sooner." Damon muses.

"Screw you."

He brings his mouth to my ear and whispers, "You already did."

"And I couldn't regret it more." I said back.

Damon chuckles and pulls his face away so he could look at me.

"Remember you and I?" Damon asks after a while, his voice low and serious as he stares at me.

"You mean when you cheated on me with my own sister?" I asked.

I expected a witty comeback but Damon only looked down at the floor in shame.

"That was the worst day of my life you know." he whispers.

"What?" I ask, "Kissing Elena or me finding out."

"Both." he replies, "More so kissing Elena."

"You know, I never really understood you." I told him, "You used to tell me that you liked me but then you kiss Elena."

"I liked Elena because she was pure and innocent." Damon answers, "It felt good to be around her, I felt good."

"Are you sure it's not that you want everything your brother has?" I ask.

"At first, I just wanted to annoy Stefan because that's what older brothers do." he said, "But then it became more."

"And where did I fit in all of this?"

"You wrecked my life, Emilia." he started, "You were the complete opposite of Elena. You were wild. Absolutely crazy and I loved that about you. You never stood back, you'd always fight back. You were strong, you are strong. And that's what I love about you."

I don't say anything and he continues.

"Being with you was fun. I felt like a teenager again." he said quietly, "You were happy, Emilia. You were too good to be ruined and I didn't want to do that to you."

"It's a little too late for that."

"I know and I realize that now." he said, "What I feel towards Elena is temporary, I just feel this protectiveness over her and even closer to her. But what I feel for you has always been here, Emilia, it has always been and always will be. What I feel for you is pure."

"Don't you think it's too late for you to say that now?" I stepped closer to him, "I don't care, Damon. You can bleed love for me but all I would do is step all over you."

I smirk at him before I pull away.

I walk towards the bar table and start to pour myself a glass. Someone catches my eye and I turn to see Rebekah sitting on a table looking all mopey and sad as she watches couples dancing around.

I smirk and walk towards her, "Her Bekah, what's wrong? Couldn't compel yourself a date?"

She huffs and stands up, "Y'know, I'm sick and tired of everyone saying that to me."

"Hasn't ever occurred to you that it could be true?" I ask, taking a gulp out of my drink.

"It was true." her voice cracks, "But now, I want a real date without having to compel one."

"And what can get you that?" I ask, smirking in amusement.

"I don't know," she shrugs, "my looks, personality."

"Oh, honey," I laugh, "if you think you have any of those then that's sad."

She scoffs, "I don't know why I bother standing here and listening to you."

"Tootles." I wave at her before she walks away.

I laugh to myself, "God, I love annoying people."

"That has always been your thing ever since you were little."

I turn to look at Elena.

"Elena," I eye her dress, "your dress looks nice. Steal it?"

"Yes, actually." she replies, crossing her arms.

"Hmm, I'm not surprised." I chuckle, "You've always been a cheap whore."

Elena laughs, "So, where's your date? Probably out somewhere sucking some girl's face."

"Actually, I'm right here." Aiden appears behind me, wrapping an arm around my waist.

"Where's your date, Elena?" I ask, "Or should I say dates?"

Aiden snorts.

I walk closer to her, "I stand by my words when I say whore."

I shove my drink in her hands before I walk away, Aiden following after me.

Aiden wraps his arm arounds me, "It's so hot when you're all feisty and worked up."

"I don't blame you." I smirk, "I need two drinks. Sappy Salvatore alert."

Aiden laughs and walks to the table beside us to get two drinks. He hands me both of them and I take them before I turn around and head over to Stefan who stands in a corner.

"You look sad." I said to Stefan, handing him a drink.

"Yeah, I – "

"I didn't ask why, I was just stating facts." I told him.

"Of course." he chuckles.

"I'm surprised you're not having a metal breakdown." I tell him, "With everything happening with Elena."

"I just want her to come back, I owe her that." he replies, "We owe you that too, Emilia."

"Oh, you don't owe me anything." I tell him, "You just stick to bothering Elena, it's doing me good."

"You know, sometimes I remember the old you." he says, looking me in the eyes. "You were this happy teenager. You'd make these silly jokes and silky mistakes yet by the end of the day you were this precious soul that just wanted to live a happy normal life. We took that away from you. All of it. We ruined you. I ruined you. And I can't tell you how sorry I am."

"I'm glad you know that you all ruined me, Stefan." I told him, "And I hope you feel nothing but guilt for the rest of your life."

I looked at him one last time before I walked away, crushing the empty plastic cup in my fist before I threw it on the floor.

"Hey, where are you going?" Aiden grabs my arm.

"I need a snack." I said, "Don't wait up."

"Okay, stay safe."

I just nodded and left the hall, passing by Caroline that stood at the entrance watching the prom.

"You finally made an appearance." I told her, "Couldn't wait to tell you how much your prom sucks."

I gave her a pity smile before I continued my way out, a gust of light wind whooshing as I sat on a nearby bench, watching a group of girls laughing in the distance.

"Which one's your target?"

I looked up to see Klaus standing beside the bench, his arms behind his back.

I rolled my eyes, "Couldn't you at least pick someone good looking?"

"I see you know it's me." he sits down beside me.

"Your tricks don't fool me anymore, Silas." I told him, "So I guess you're here about the cure."

He nodded as he leaned forward while the group of girls walked back in the prom.

"I was gonna get it but I had some trouble." I told him, "I'd get it again but I really don't have time for that."

"I wasn't going to ask you." he said, "You really don't know how to do a simple task, Emilia."

"Well, I try." I shrugged.

"You don't try hard enough." he said before he suddenly shoved a wooden stick in my stomach.

I grunted as he twisted it in me.

"You've been nothing but a stupid fly who couldn't even get a small cure." he whispered as he brought his face closer to mine. "You're just a waste of space. I'll be doing everyone a favor when I kill you."

"I'm all yours."

"But I'll make you die slowly." he said as he shoved the stake into me deeper causing me to grunt.

I laugh, "It won't take more than two minutes before someone walks out and sees me."

"Hmm, you're right."

I groaned as he pulled me up from the bench by my arm and dragged me into the woods. He dragged me a little deeper into the woods before her threw me against a tree where he pushed the stake deeper.

"You just sit and rot here."

He turned around and walked away, leaving me sitting up against the tree with a 30 inch stake deep inside my stomach.

I groaned as I started to move so I could sit up straighter, but the stake moved in me so I fell back. Tears of pain prickled my eyes as I wrapped my hands around the stake and tried to pull it out but it wouldn't budge.

I let out a frustrated sigh as I decided to break the stake to make it smaller. I cracked the thick wood in front of me and threw the broken piece somewhere. The stake shifted in me as I slowly pulled it out from in front of me.

A big breath left my body as I finally pulled out the stake, now covered with my blood. I took small pants before I jumped to my feet. I growl as I throw the stake behind me and walked out into the prom's parking lot.

I trudge through the parking lot, my hand grasping my stomach as it healed.

"Silas!" I shouted in the parking lot, "Come out you bastard. Finish what you started!"

"I see you're still alive."

I growl and twirl around to see Silas standing in Klaus's form. I opened my arms and sneered.

"Come on, you piece of shit, show me how you plan on killing me." I said, "Come on!"

"I've never seen someone so excited to get killed." he laughed as he slowly walked towards me. "But if you want it so bad."

In a blink, he was in front of me and I immediately punched him in the face. He only laughed and wiped his face before he started walking towards me once again.

"What a dumb move."

"I've got more of those."

"I'm sure you do." he smiled.

Suddenly, he wrapped his hand around my neck and threw me on a car that started beeping from my weight. I start to stand up once again but he grabs my neck once agains and throws me on the car again.

I groan as he slides his hands into my chest, his hand grasping my hand.

"Any last words?"

"Fuck you." I spat the blood in my mouth on his face.

"You're not scared that you're about to die?" he asks, inching my heart closer to surface.

I chuckle and whisper, "I'm already dead."

"So this doesn't hurt?" he asks, gripping my heart tighter.

"No." I whisper.

"What about this?" he cracks my heart.

I bring my face closer to his till our lips brush, "Not even one bit."

I bring my head back against the cold surface of the car as I stare into his eyes, waiting for the moment to be over.

"What about this?" he asks, pulling his hand completely out of my chest. "Does it hurt?"

I don't say anything as he sighs and places both his hands on the car's surface.

"Why didn't you kill me?" he whispers.

"You look just like her." he says quietly. "You look just like Amara."

I sit quiet as he moves away.

Then he's gone.

I close my eyes and stay laying on the car's front surface, breathing in the cold fresh air as I sigh. I sit up but stay on the car's front trunk, my hands running down my face in exhaustion.

I feel a presence beside me and I look to see Damon standing there. I huff as he maneuvers around the car to come stand in front of me.

"You gave up." he says quietly, "Why?"

"You're here." I snap, "Why?"

"To do this." he says before he injects me with vervain and thats the last thing I feel before I fall into his arms.
