Chapter 2- Megan
Have I introduced myself yet? No? Well my name is Megan Knutson. I have long dark brown hair that reaches past my butt, and hazel brown eyes that have a greenish tint when I'm happy or in the sunlight. I never wear my hair down because it's to wavy and always gets in my face, especially when I'm flailing around in mid-air and heading face first towards the ground. That last one's new to me.
"THIS IS YOUR GREAT IDEA!!!" I scream, as we basically fall to our deaths. In response he yells defiantly, thrusting his free hand (the other still in my death grip) towards the ground. "What was that-" My voice was cut short by the sound of 100 pipes bursting. I look down in shock to see tons of water spraying from the school's fountains- creating a cube if water for us to land in instead of going kersplat.
That was all well and good until and realized that hitting water from this height would be like hitting cement- and we would still end up a stain on the pavement. Percy seemed to be reading my mind because he said, "Don't worry! Just brace yourself!" For what? I was thinking, until the water swallowed me whole.
My mouth was still open when I landed in the water, and when I was done screaming I took a deep breath, underwater. I thought I was dead, but instead the opposite happened. The world became more vivid, and a new surge of strength coursed through my body. I released my grip on Percy's hand and looked over to see if he was alright. As always, he looked amazing, his dark hair floating in the water. Though for some strange reason, his hair still shimmered in the sunlight as if it were still dry. Another weird thing; his chest was still moving as if he were breathing in the water.
He must of thought I was running out of air (which was true because I was scared to try that breathing underwater thing again), because he said, "Come on," and I heard him clear as day. Great, another thing to add to my long list of strange things that's happened today. I was about to start swimming towards the side of the cube, but the currents (that came out of nowhere) pushed me forward so I felt like I was flying.
Finally the water spilled us out and I let out a sigh of relief. I glanced over at Percy to find that he was... that he was... "How are you dry?!" We both exclaimed at the same time. "I know how I'm dry," he said, looking bewildered, "but I didn't do anything to you!" "Wait, what?" I said looking down at myself. It was true there wasn't a drop of water on me. "But.. but..." Spots danced in front of my eyes.
This was just too much, my mind was overloading. What was with these snake ladies and Percy Jackson's water powers? Most importantly, how did I take that breath? The last thing I remember was Percy running over and catching me. Then I stared into his eyes- those beautiful sea-green eyes- and my whole world turned black.
