Chapter 16 - Sarah

I watched as Megan closed her eyes and concentrated, her arm stretched out in the water.

We continued to get closer and closer to the Cetus, but it seems our plan wasn't working out like we expected it to. Instead of moving away from us, it seemed overjoyed that we were getting closer, and it actually started heading towards us.

"Um, Megan?" James asked, fiddling with his sword hilt. "A little help?" "I'm trying!" She exclaimed, beads of sweat popping up on her forehead.

The dock was getting farther away, but we still had a little bit left to go. Peter pulled out his sword completely, the celestial bronze blade glittering in the sunlight. "Alright, new plan, I think we should-" He was cut short by Megan letting out a grunt, and a wave appeared beside her clenched fist- not gigantic, but big enough to knock the thing over.

We sat there in shock, wasting a few precious seconds before Megan shouted, "GO!" I realized that she couldn't keep this thing underwater for long, and we only had so long to drive this thing away. "Come on!" They got the message. Daniel motioned for Megan to lift it's head out of the water, and she obliged, while Arianna drove the boat a little bit closer.

The monster's head came shooting out of the water, and before it even had time to breath, James sliced a chunk of its fin off into the water. It wailed and attempted to flee but Megan kept it in check, and Bay drove at it with her dagger. She stabbed it right underneath its snout and it roared in pain, thrashing and almost flipping our boat over.

Finally Megan's arms gave away, and the Cetus swam as fast as it could, diving under the water once it was a safe distance away. Megan was sweating like crazy, taking deep shaky breaths every four seconds. I patted her on the back. "You okay?" She nodded and buried her face in her hands. I didn't expect a full response, she was breathing hard and needed a break.

"So, to New York?" I nodded at Arianna and the boat began to move, slowly following the other ferry's that were full of tourists. I glanced around at everyone in our group. No one seemed too shaken up. After all, that's what we were expecting. Veronica was clinging to Daniel like he was her lifeline, her face pale. I remembered that she was a child of the "Big Three" as well, and she was not taking a liking to being in the sea for so long.

I looked down at my lap and started playing with my dagger. It was given to me when I first arrived at Camp, and is matching with Shirley's. The only difference is that mine is silver, hers being gold. It was my favourite weapon, and I've used it so much that the leather grip handle has small indents were my fingers are. I twirled it in my fingers and looked up, our boat almost reaching it's destination.

I just hope everyone ignores the fact that there are 10 teenagers on a small jetty slowly parking amidst the big tourists boats and fancy yachts.

Once we were safely on land (not without receiving strange looks from the boat conductors), we all crowded around a small map, that had a "You Are Here!" arrow on it, pointing to the docks. "Now if I remember correctly..." Peter's face was scrunched up in thought, and Shirley stifled a laugh. "What?" He huffed. "Well if you're trying to remember where The Orion is, then..." she pulled out a piece of paper from her back pocket. "It is 350 West 42nd street."

He rolled his eyes and pouted. "I could've remembered that." He mumbled, but Shirley didn't seem to hear. She pointed at a spot on the map. "That's where we need to go!" She said triumphantly. We nodded in agreement till Hailey frowned. "But how are we supposed to get there? I mean, it's pretty far away and that Cetus already backtracked us enough."

"We could hail a taxi," Bay suggested. "But there's 10 of us and I don't think we'll all fit in one." James pointed out. "Then to the buses it is!" Hailey said pointing at the bus stop, then continuing to march off towards it. I laughed and shrugged, following our friend, who seems to be able to make the day brighter just by pointing a finger.
