Mysterious Circumstance
The moment I found the doll, I was flooded with childhood memories. I remember playing with the doll, gleefully trying to pass time. A smile came to my face as I ran a finger over the doll's face. The paint had dulled a little, but it was, by all means, still in good shape. I put it back on the shelf in the attic, leaving it to sit there in all its old glory.
But then on Halloween, I found it on the couch. I stared at it and picked it up with reluctance. It seemed like it had been untouched, yet there was no way it had just teleported. That's impossible. I shook my head and placed it back on the living room couch.
I tried to leave the living room, but it felt like some mysterious force was preventing me from moving. I was frozen. "Don't leave, Mel," a voice called out to me. I turned and the only other being in the room was the doll. The doll couldn't speak though. Surely it was impossible. I tried to walk, but it felt like it was stuck to the floor like glue.
"Come on Mel," the voice came back. "Why won't you stay with me? We can have fun together again." I felt more unease. I had no clue what was happening. The voice sounded like it was from a young person. I wanted to scream, ask who was there, but it felt like my throat was clogged up. There was nothing I could do at this point. I was stuck.
"Wouldn't you like to play, Melissa?" I heard the childish voice ask, and I felt the unease come through. Turning to look at the doll, in all its creepy success, I heard something else. "Let's play...forever."
