Part 1- Controlling Anger

(Hey guys! I'm excited to start the first chapter of the second book in Turtle Troubles: Porcelain. If you guessed that this book was about Raphael, you were correct. Raph is a hotheaded turtle, and if the right buttons are pushed, his anger can cause him to harm others. Keeping that in mind, on with the first chapter! DISCLAIMER: I do not own TMNT, all rights go to Nickelodeon.)

They say that actions speak louder than words. For some, that may be false. But for Raphael, it was all too true.

Raph bit his tongue hard, trying to not to yell at the taunting demon that was his youngest brother. He had already been given disapproving looks earlier from his Sensei when he scolded Mikey for ruining yet another one of his action figures.

"Aw, is Raphie not going to respond?" Mikey teased, his eyes glimmering with mischievousness.

"I told ya' not to call me by that stupid nickname." Raph huffed. He gripped his sai's and glanced at his other two brothers.

Donnie was in full concentration, trying his best to avoid the quick kicks and hits Leo threw towards him. Raph wondered how they could not talk the whole time.

Training was something Raph always enjoyed, it was where he could show off his skills and at least try to impress his Sensei. However, whenever he had to spar against his brothers, it was just a call for trouble.

Against Mikey, he was a short fuse and would blow up at him when Mikey would tease him. With Donnie, he was cockier and always seem to easily defeat his younger brother.

But if he ever fought against Leo... it would always end up in disaster. Just the thought of having to spar Leo made him tighten his grip around his sai's even more. Sure, he won sometimes, but that was when his anger fueled him. Splinter had always disapproved of Raph using his anger to win sparring, but he couldn't help it.  Sometimes, his brother's were just so infuriating.

Especially Leo. The golden child, the leader, Splinter's favorite. Somehow, nothing was ever Leo's fault. Whether it was a patrol going wrong, or an accident in training, it was Raph's fault.

And that just made him angry.

Shaking the thoughts from his head, he focused on winning against Mikey. Mikey twirled his nunchucks in his hands, trying to show off. "Come on Raph, I don't bite. But I bet you're too afraid to face my hot-nunchuck-fury!" Mikey smirked.

"Can it, shell-for-brains," Raph growled, before going into a fighting stance. He charged at Mikey, aiming to hit him in the middle of his plastron. With ease, Mikey did a backflip to dodge the attack.

"Hah! Looks like you're losing your touch, Raph." Mikey joked. But what he didn't know, is that he had just pushed one of the wrong buttons on Raph.

Raph angrily ran towards Mikey, and before he even had a split second to react, Mikey was on the ground. Raph sat on top of him, and Mikey coughed with the weight of his brother on him.

"Raph-you're-crushing-me!" He whined in short breaths. "Say it and I'll get off," Raph said, remaining on top of his brother. Mikey rolled his eyes. "Fine. Raphael is all wise and powerful..." He began.

But shortly after Mikey had begun talking, Splinter banged his staff on the ground. "Yame! Raphael, off of your brother." He commanded.

Raph was quick to get off his brother, and Mikey coughed and breathed in air rapidly, relieved to have Raph off of him.

Donnie, though as best as he attempted to succeed in sparring, lost to Leo. The four brother's knelt in front of Splinter.

Mikey looked at Raph and stuck out his tongue, receiving a glare from his older brother. "Michelangelo." Splinter said, getting the attention of his youngest pupil. "While distraction is a key tool for a ninja, constantly taunting your enemy will not do much work in battle."

Mikey opened his mouth to protest, but a quick look from his Sensei shut him down. "Hai, Sensei." He muttered.

Splinter then turned to his second youngest son. "Donatello, though you did well in training today, you can not always rely on your brain during battle. You must learn to fight without thinking." He said. "Hai, Sensei." Donnie nodded.

"Leonardo, you did very well during sparring." Splinter said to his eldest son. "Thank you, Sensei." Leo bowed his head. "But, you must work on your skills, you did seem a bit sloppy with your kicks." He said.

"Hai, Sensei." Leo nodded. Though he had been giving some corrections, Raph could see the small smile Leo had on for being given the most praise. "Teacher's pet.." He scoffed.

"Raphael." Hearing his name made Raph cringe. He knew he wasn't going to be given praise, he never did. "You won against Michelangelo, but you again let your anger take control of you." Splinter frowned.

"But Master Splinter, all Mikey kept doing the whole time was spewing stupid stuff outta' his mouth!" Raph said, trying to defend his actions.

"Indeed, but if an enemy were to taunt you, would anger be the best weapon against them?" Raph shook his head and muttered a 'no.'

Splinter sighed. "I have told you many times Raphael, and I will tell you again. You can not let your anger take over you. If you do, there can be consequences." Raph just nodded his head and looked down.

"Training is over, you may go. I will be in my room meditating." Splinter stood up. The four sons bowed, and they went to resume their daily activities.

As Splinter sat in his room to meditate, he could only sense a troubling feeling that something was going to go wrong. He just didn't know what.

Leo sat on the couch to watch Space Heroes, Mikey sat eating pizza and reading a comic book, Raph was kicking the training dummy, and Don was in his lab.

Mikey swallowed a bite of his pizza. "Raph, Splinter totally looked annoyed at you today." Raph ignored him and kept punching the dummy.

That didn't phase Mikey, though. If he didn't take the obvious silence from Raph that he didn't want to be bothered, then sooner or later a beat down from Raph would.

Mikey put down his comic book and finished his pizza. "I mean, he just looked so disappointed. He wasn't even that mad at me!" Mikey exaggerated.

Raph breathed in harshly, before punching the dummy harder. "Leave me alone, Mikey." He grumbled.

Mikey stood up and walked towards Raph. "Mikey..." Leo warned, glancing away from the TV. However, Mikey just inched closer towards Raph.

"What's the matter Raph, too afraid to see that Splinter is disappointed in you? You can't hide from the fact forever, you know." He said.

That teared it.

"I said, leave me alone!" Blinded by sheer rage, instead of punching the dummy, Raph punched Mikey square in his nose.

Mikey fell backward and Leo immediately ran to his side. He let out a whimper as tears filled his eyes. Raph had punched his nose so hard, that it was bruised and now had blood running from it.

After snapping back into reality, Raph's look of pure rage and turned to a look of concern. "Mike I didn't mean to-" Leo cut him off.

"Raph, I know he was annoying you, but did you have to punch him?!" He asked annoyed. Raph opened his mouth to argue, but Donnie had run out of the lab after hearing all the commotion.

"What happened- oh gosh." Donnie knelt down by Mikey's side. Mikey held his nose and tried to get the tears to go away.

"Mikey, tilt your head back and pinch the top of your nose." Donnie directed, and Mikey did just that. Donnie sighed and led Mikey to his lab to fix his nose.

Leo looked at Mikey and Don and then turned back to Raph. "You gave him a bloody nose!" Leo yelled. Raph looked at Leo with fire starting to burn up in his green eyes.

"And ya' don't think I feel bad? Plus, he deserved it! Did you even hear what he was saying?" Raph asked.

"You know Mikey just likes to annoy us, he didn't mean anything. You always take it too far Raph." Leo said, crossing his arms.

"I take it too far? So it's my fault again! Just like it always is, right fearless?" He snarled.

Leo took a deep breath, trying to remain calm. "Raph, you need to learn to control your anger before you seriously hurt someone in this family."

Those words pierced through Raph's skin like a knife. Trying not to show a hurt face, he just waved a hand in dismissal and disappeared into his room, slamming the door shut.

Leo cringed when he hurt the door slam shut. Maybe he had been too harsh with Raph at the end, but he didn't tolerate Raph getting angry and hurting one of his younger brother's.

Though, he knew he would have to have a long talk with Mikey and Raph both before patrol.

Meanwhile, in the lab, Mikey had an ice pack on his nose as it was wrapped by Donnie. After he was finished, he crossed his arms. "Mikey.. what did you say this time that ticked Raph off?" He asked.

Mikey felt guilt swarm over him as he looked down in shame. "I-I don't know why I said it. I said that Splinter was disappointed in him and that he couldn't hide from it.." He muttered.

Donnie sighed. "We love you little brother, but sometimes you really push the wrong buttons, especially on Raph. I think after he cools down you guys should both apologize to each other."

Mikey nodded his head in agreement. He had hurt Raph, and he felt really bad about it. Mikey found a new set determination that he would give a proper apology to his brother.

However, the hothead brother had other thoughts in his room, and they weren't good ones.
