I looked longingly at myself in my mirror in my room. I left Eden's early this morning while she was still sleeping.

I breathed out heavily taking the cap off and putting it on backwards. Then judging it. "No that's even worse." I took it off again putting the front to the side before bursting out laughing at myself and throwing it on the floor. "Guess I'll just have to dye it today,"

I picked my phone up hovering over the call icon on Billies contact. The last time I spoke to him was when I walked out the living room last night. Looking back on it I guess I was acting like a baby. Why was I even mad? Because of Mave?

I didn't wanna dye my hair on my own. Normally Eden helped me because I always managed to miss spots in my hair and then it would all be patchy. And I kinda missed Billies company right now. I regretted being weird with him, I should be happy.

Finally I let my finger press the button as I put in on speaker waiting for him to pick up on the other side of the line. Maybe I made a mistake. I should of probably of left it and not call him, hes probably-

-"Hello?"

"Hi Beej..." I awkwardly said, not sure how to act.

"Hey Birdie, you good? Have I done something again?"

"Oh, no no I'm okay. I was just having a bad day, got sent of class for my cap and it put me in a bad mood." I lied quickly. "So I was thinking about re dying my hair so I don't have to show up in school with it again,"

"Ah, good idea. I did tell you tha-"

"-Yes. I know you did," I laughed. "But I was thinking... do you wanna help me? Its just that- well- normally Eden helps me out and I always end up missing-"

"-Course... I- I mean, sure. Yeah sure I guess I could help,"

"Sick, come with me to the shops to pick up the hair dye?"

"Sounds good,"

~

"Not that shade Blaze," I muttered to myself looking through the colours of boxed hair dye.

I had lost Billie somewhere around the store. He got distracted and strolled away like a child.

I browsed down the isle. Trying to figure out if I wanted to just say fuck it and dye my hair completely black or actually find this right shade. Maybe I could pull of black? Or maybe I would look absolutely terrible and end up having to kill my hair more to go back to the colour I have now.

"Birdie!"

I flinched dropping the box of hair dye as it hit the floor and I looked over at Billie who's smile faded.

"Jesus Beej you scared me,"

"Sorry,"

I bent down picking the box back up as I looked back at him. "Whats up?"

"Look at this," He grinned widely holding up a box of blue hair dye.

"What about it?"

"Isn't it a cool colour?"

"What you've never seen the colour blue before?"

"No, I mean- the shade. Isn't it sick?"

"I guess?"

"Question..."

"Yes Billie?"

"Do you... well y'know... just thinking out loud here, do you think... that... it would maybe suit me?"

"You wanna dye your hair blue?" I asked for the confirmation. Smiling slightly from the right corner of my mouth as he nodded.

"I mean- I think it would look cool y'know? But I don't know,"

I looked up at his bleach blonde hair. His brown roots had began to grow into it. I couldn't even visualize it blue. But I guess anything would suite him.

"Yeah... yeah I think it would suit you," I finally agreed.

"Do you think we can-"

"-You wanna buy it with my hair dye and help you dye your hair?"

He nodded as I sighed with a smile taking the box off him as he cheered. I looked down at the two boxes I now had in my hand. black and a blue one. Still unsure if black was the right decision to make or at all even a good choice.

"Question, what do you think about going black with my hair?" I asked him curiously as I turned the box of black hair dye around to face him.

He looked down at it for a second before back up at me trying to come up with an answer. "I think you'd look awesome with black hair,"

"You sure? You're not just saying that? I need your honest opinion,"

"I mean it, you'd look bad ass,"

~

"You had your blonde hair for ages," I rambled rubbing the hair dye through his hair as he sat in front of me. I sat on a chair while he sat cross legged on the floor looking at me through the huge mirror I leaned on to the wall.

"It was getting boring, y'know? I kinda wanted a change,"

"You're not gonna miss it?"

"I don't think so, are you gonna miss your hair?"

"Maybe. Hopefully black hair won't look bad or anything,"

"It'll look good on you, everything does," He replied, mumbling the last part under his breath in an attempt I wouldn't heard it.

But I looked away from his hair and made eye contact with him through the mirror as I gave him a smile. "I heard that,"

"Oh- well- I mean- I meant it in a- in a fake boyfriend way y'know- I- I- oh shut up Billie,"

I looked back down at his hair as he scowled looking away at me. "Thank you either way, fake boyfriend way or not. I appreciate it,"

I heard him let out a breath of air as I continued to massage the blue into his hair. Although I'm pretty sure I had gotten all of it, I was just enjoying playing with it secretly.

"I didn't... mean it... in a fake boyfriend way,"

"But you-?"

"-I panicked. I mean... I've always thought it y'know? But you was still my sisters best friend,"

I paused for a moment. Stopping with his hair as I looked back at him in the mirror. "Am I still 'just' your sisters best friend now...? Am I just a fake girlfriend to you? Or your sisters friend?"

"Course you're not... why would you ask that?"

"I don't know," I exhaled.

"Alright! My turn!" He exclaimed suddenly jumping off the floor. I huffed passing him the box as he sat on my chair. I grabbed the towel that was already stained with different colour hair dyes from past experiences and wiped Billies blue hair dye off me as best I could. But it still stained my hands a shade of navy blue.

I zoned out looking at my hair in the mirror wondering if this was a mistake as Billie began to prepare the black hair dye.

Did he tell Eden he was even here right now? Did he tell her he was on his way to mine to help me dye my hair, something which I had always asked her to do and now instead asking her brother.

Finally I felt him begin to put the dye in my hair as I cringed worryingly looking at him in the mirror.

"Chill out, it'll look fine," He chuckled.

We stayed silent for a minute or two while I looked at my reflection still contemplating the decision. I looked up at Billies reflection as he concentrated in running the dye through my hair. A breathy laughed escaped my lips as he paused and looked up at my reflection making eye contact with me.

"What?" He asked me confused.

"Nothing," I shook my head.

"What did you laugh at?"

"It just- you're concentrating so much it just made me laugh,"

"Yeah I wanna do it right y'know? Do you want me to do it right?"

"What- yes yes of course I do I-"

"-Right then," Smugly smiled looking back down.

I carried on looking at him as I felt his fingers running through my hair. Mave is gonna be so lucky getting this. But why did I care so much? Did I want this? I have this, but just its not real. But she'll get this real... maybe I was in the weirdest way possible... jealous.

But why would I be jealous? Its not like I like him, so why would I need to be jealous?

"Can I ask you something?" Billie asked looking up interrupting my thoughts.

I panicked looking away and then looking again like he hadn't already saw I was staring. "S-sure, yeah,"

"Y'know how you asked if you was just a my sisters best friend?"

"Yeah?"

"Well... am I just your best friends brother? Minus the fake boyfriend thing,"

Why would he minus it? I thought that was all he cared about?

"Well... at first course you was. Every time you and Eden had an argument even if I thought you were right I would tell her I'm on her side. I thought you was a huge dick. You always teased me like I was just a little kid to you, Even though I'm closer to your age than Eden is. When I first met you it was so aggravating. Then over time when I was spending more time at yours because of the lack of company at my house, I got use to it. So I just accepted you as an ass. You seemed to find it so funny pissing me off and teasing me. But then I just started doing it back. You're good at taking what you give and I was hoping you wasn't. So you always secretly annoyed me even if you didn't think you was. But there were few times I liked talking to you y'know? I remember times where we would be talking and I'd think to myself 'I like this Billie Joe.'. Like that one time I came over crying hysterically because a fucking raccoon broke into my house- I just knew you was gonna laugh over it. But you gave me a hug and calmed me down and it was so weird. I liked that Billie. Now it feels like I'm always with that Billie. I like your company when you're not looking down at me like I'm little,"

"I didn't... I didn't even realize I was doing that," He said surprised. "I guess I did... but I never knew I was. Spending more time with you I guess I've seen more sides to you I didn't know there was and I stopped with the whole 'You're my little sisters friend' thingy. But I like your company too,"

"You do?" I asked attempting to turn around.

"Course I do, now keep your head still," He ordered moving my head back forward with his black stained hands.

"Aren't you done yet?"

"I was done ages ago,"

"Then what are you doing?"

"Playing with your hair, stop moving so much,"

I looked down trying to hide the massive smile on my face as I mumbled. "Okay,"

After a while longer of Billie wanting to play with my hair. We moved to the bathroom and I rinsed out his blue hair dye over the sink. He then helped me with mine. After a bit longer of us fighting for the hair dryer I heard the downstairs phone ring as I gave in and then passed it him and made my way down the stairs.

I picked it up off the wall holding it to my ear. "Yellow?"

"Blaze Joy?" She asked, using my full name. The only person who ever did. Ever.

"Yes mom?"

"What did I say about people in the house?"

Oh shit. How could I forget.

"I'm sorry mom- he came over to help me with my hair I really needed to have it done again and-"

"-Who is he? He looks familiar, do I know him?"

"Course you do mom it's Billie. Eden's older brother,"

"Why are you with Eden's older brother?"

Good question mom. Well actually we're faking a relationship so he can get a girl he really likes and I was originally trying to keep away this weirdo called Justin who wasn't taking any hints and now I seem to have grown fond of him and we're dying each other's hair different colours.

"Erm..."

"Are you together?"

Shit. "Yes?" Shit!

"You are!?"

Great. "Yes- look mom can I go? I need to dry my hair and-"

"-I'll be home in a few days Blaze I expect you to tell me all about it okay?"

"Yes mom, okay okay goodbye,"

"I love you hunny, by-"

I ended the call on her putting the phone back on the wall. Before leaning my forehead on the wall and breathing in deeply. "Fuck."

I headed back up the stairs where Billie was in the bathroom still drying his hair in the mirror. He noticed me as he looked over and smiled turning the hair dryer off. "What do you think?"

"It looks awesome! I love it!" I shouted excitedly as I walked over to him. I ran my hand through it, Jesus it was soft. "I think I got it all too,"

"I love it,"

"Me too, it suits you. I told you it would,"

"Can I dry your hair?"

"You wanna dry my hair?"

"Yeah, why not y'know? I can dry it for you,"

I sighed slightly with a smile before shrugging. "Alright Beej,"

He grabbed the hair dryer standing in front of the mirror as he stood behind me. He turned the hair dryer on running his fingers through my hair as he wafted it behind my head. He moved his position moving left to right from time to time to make sure he dried all of my hair.

After what felt like ages, and I zoned out staring down at my dirty shoe laces, Billie turned off the hair dryer as I looked up.

"Oh god... thats dark,"

"What do you expect? It was a black hair dye,"

"What do you think?" I asked him turning around. I underestimated how close he was behind me drying my hair since I was stood right up to the counter where the sink and the mirror was, because our faces were close together and I could feel his breath on my face.

Why did I ask him what he thought? Didn't it matter what I thought? Why did I ask for his opinion before I even formed my own?

But then again, he asked me first.

I headed back up the stairs where Billie was in the bathroom still drying his hair in the mirror. He noticed me as he looked over and smiled turning the hair dryer off. "What do you think?"

He brought my hair in front of my shoulders getting a real look, as he studied my face and hair. "It looks great,"

"You mean it?"

"Yeah, it suits you. I love it, its like a new you- you look great. Like- like- like bad ass,"

"Really?"

"Yes!"

He turned me back around to face the mirror before he rested his chin on my shoulder. His Blue hair tickling my cheek as we stared at our reflections.

"What do you think we look like?" He asked me.

"Our hair? Well I mean I-"

"-No, I mean. Us... y'know? Together? As a couple? Y'know,"

"Oh... well I..." I drifted off looking at the both of us thinking. Did we really look like a couple? The sort you could imagine together? "Well I mean, we look pretty cute together,"

"You think?"

"And you?"

"Read my mind,"
