I woke up quite later than what I normally did, not that I was complaining- I needed the catching up on sleep.

"Where the fuck is my phone?" I mumbled moving my pillow and quilts trying to find it. I finally realised it had fell on the floor as I grabbed it and turned it on.

'5 miss calls from Billie Joe
2 miss calls from Eden'

"Great, what the fuck have I done,"

I debated which one to call. Billie had called me more, but Eden was already angry. Billie never calls me, only when he needs me. But god- Eden's already angry.

Finally after hovering my finger over both notifications, I pressed Billie as I began to call him back.

As it rang I jumped out of bed and grabbed my hair brush, pulling it through my knotty hair violently.

"Finally! I called you like a million times where were you!" I heard a voice exclaim as I put the hair brush down and pulled my top over my head speaking to my phone which was on speaker.

"I was sleeping Billie!"

"Sleeping!? Do y'know what time it is?"

"Yes! What do you want!"

"Well... here's the thing," I listened to him as I pulled my draw out and grabbed a black band shirt. "My mom, kinda sorta some how maybe knows our fake relationship-"

"-what!?"

"It gets worse!"

"How does your mom possibly know that I'm faking being in a relationship with her son! How does that happen Billie joe!? How does that get worse!"

"Well... she thinks it's real,"

"She thinks I'm-" I cut myself off as I managed to get the jumper over my head. I grabbed the phone turning it off speaker and putting it to my ear. "She thinks it's real!?"

"I know I know!"

"Then tell her it's not!"

"What tell my own mom I'm using my sisters best friend to get another girl jealous and my sister isn't okay with it and is actually really against the whole thing and is now angry at you and me!? I can't do that- look I know this is messy but-"

"-don't you dare,"

"She's just gonna have to-"

"-Billie don't say it!"

"...believe it,"

I sighed loudly and dramatically. I sat down on my bed, still in my joggers I had slept in. But I needed to sit down for a second and wrap my head further around this situation.

"So that's what you called me for? Please tell me that's it?" I asked him hesitant to hear his answer.

"Actually no..."

"Great,"

"My mom thinks it's adorable we're together and all this and that. She actually- erm- wants me to ask you to come to dinner,"

"Ask me to come to dinner!? She knows who I am I'm there nearly all the time!"

"Yes I know! I said that! But she wants to have dinner with you as my girlfriend,"

"No,"

"What!? Birdie! You can't say no!"

"Yes I can... ooh what's this-"

"-don't!"

"Oooh it's coming-"

"-birdie!"

".....Nope!"

"But why?" He strained sounding tired.

"Billie I'm trying to avoid my own best friend. She's angry at me- not to mention how awkward this is gonna be. She thinks I'm with you- what if she starts asking me weird questions?"

"I'll be there it'll be okay! Please I'm begging you. I need you here tonight,"

"Why?"

"So I can hear the end of all this from my mom- y'know what shes like- just say you'll come? For me? No one else, me? As my fake girlfriend?"

I'm only in this situation 'for him'. But I hated being the bad guy, sometimes anyway. To certain people. I guess Billie counted as one of the few people I couldn't be like that with. And I never even knew I couldn't say no when he brought out the 'for me' card.

"Please," he begged again.

It kinda pissed me off that I couldn't say no. Why couldn't I say no? It's just a word- spit it out. I didn't wanna go, I didn't wanna be there, I would rather be alone in this empty house. But I just- I couldn't. Do it.

"Fine,"

After I ended up agreeing. I got ready blasting music through my empty house. Before the old house phone we had on the wall rang.

Don't ask why we still have one of those phones working, my mom always thought it was ugly but I thought it was handy. It was here when we got the house she told me.

Needed wiping down though. Kinda collects a lot of dust and dirt over the years.

"Hello?" I asked picking the phone up and holding it to my ear, twisting the wire around my finger.

"Hi darling! I called you so many times the other day what happened?"

"Hi mom, sorry I was at Ollies,"

"How's schooool?" She chimed.

"It's alright, where are you again?"

"Rome, isn't that fancy! David- here come say hi to Blaze! You know Blaze don't you? My daughter? Blaze you know David don't you darling?"

I did. I didn't have any opinion on him though. He stole my mom to take her to Rome but, she was enjoying herself.

"I know David mom, I've met him quite a few times,"

"Wonderful! Blaze say hi you're on speaker!"

"Hi David..." I awkwardly spoke, waiting for this phone call to me over. I needed to get ready.

"Hello lovie, how are you doing at home?"

"Good... good yeah, I've been mostly at Ollies but I thought I'd stay home last night,"

"Don't worry I'll have your mother back soon,"

"Thanks Dave,"

"Ooh there's our ride!" I heard my mom squeal as her voice got louder, guessing she must've grabbed the phone. "I need to go okay babe? I love you so so so so so much!"

"Yes mom, I love you t-" my voice was cut off as the call ended.

Well that was brief and quick.

After I had given in to Billie, he let me know he would be picking me up later on to join them for dinner. For now I just needed to get ready and actually eat.

I put the phone back up on the wall as I walked into the kitchen.

Y'know it would be less lonely if we- or well I guess I should say I- had a pet. Just a dog or- or a guinea pig. Maybe even a hamster, I'll settle for a gold fish.

"Shit, that's gross," I mumbled to myself picking up the milk carton that had turned out of date a day or two ago.

When my mom was away, it was mostly me who did everything for myself. I'd go shopping for the house, go pay the electric and gas, of course not with my money.

It was said, by the fact that my moms at Rome, is David was pretty wealthy. Him and my mom left me money to actually look after myself in the house alone, so it looked like I had another shopping trip coming up.

*Beep beep*

"I'm locking the fucking door Billie joe will you have some patience!" I shouted slouching my arms back down beside me as I turned away from the front door and over at Billie who was waiting in his car. He rolled his eyes at me as he rested his head on the steering wheel, showing me he was obviously bored of waiting.

I turned back to the door fussing about with the keys some more. Trying to twist it one way and lift up the handle. Re closing the door and inserting the key. Until finally it turned and the click that indicated the door was locked was heard. As I checked the handle before shoving them into my pocket and walking over to Billies car.

I climbed in beside him in shot gun as he pulled his head up off the steering wheel.

"Someone seems tired," I commented.

"I feel dead,"

"That's not depressing at all..."

He started up the car as it began to move. "Thanks for agreeing to come, you have no clue how much my mom won't shut up about this. Y'know Eden? She finds this hilarious. She even said to me 'this is your karma'. Karma for what?"

"Just know I didn't want to join you guys, Eden's angry at me. I'm feeling like the worst best friend right now,"

"Well if it makes you feel better you're the best fake girlfriend,"

"You're a bad fake boyfriend, forcing me to come with you to dinner,"

"Blame my mom!"

I sighed leaning my head against the car window, looking outside. It was already dark, late months in the year meant the night came quicker... obviously. "My mom rang earlier on,"

"Where is she again this time?"

"Rome, how unfair is that. Rome. Rome. Rome!? My moms not even a Rome type of person!"

"How does anyone classify as a Rome type of person?"

"Well... y'know a fancy type of person. My moms never wanted or desired to go to Rome. It's never been a dream of hers or anything,"

"Are you mad?"

"What for her leaving me for Rome? I guess not. I'd leave me too for Rome,"

"You'd leave your child for Rome?"

"Course not. But I'd leave myself for Rome. I mean as long as she's having fun with Dave and whatever I can't get mad. She's enjoying herself and she's still putting a roof over my head and leaving money on the table. Sometimes sending me extra through the post if I run out,"

"Who's Dave?" He asked, slightly turning his head to look at me.

"David. My moms lover at the moment, he's actually a nice guy. I said hi to him on call earlier on,"

"And he took her all the way to Rome?"

"He begged her, obviously it didn't take much begging. But he really wanted her there y'know? Maybe he's- I don't know- the one,"

After a while more talking as we changed subjects to all my moms passed boyfriends and the break ups. Billie parked harshly outside his house, giving me whiplash as he quickly apologised.

We climbed out his car and walked to the front door, as I went to grab the door handle he grabbed my hand.

I looked over at him puzzled. "What are you doing Beej?"

"Okay. Quick run down, okay?"

"God your palms are sweaty." I cringed taking my hand out of his grasp as he laughed nervously.

"Nerves,"

"Gross,"

"Anyway. So if she asks how long we've been together for..."

"A week?"

"Yeah we'll say a week. If she asks who asked who. I asked you. If she asks you-"

"-Billie you're talking to me like I've never met your mom before. I stay here all the time, she knows me too well. Better than my own mom. I think it's okay,"

"You've met her daughters best friend. Not as her son's girlfriend. You're now both, which is extra pressure,"

"Technically I'm only one," I mumbled quickly opening the door.

"Ooh is that you Billie?" A voice shouted from the kitchen as he walked in behind me shutting the door as he took off his coat. He hung it up and took mine too hanging it beside his as he answered.

"It is,"

She walked out the kitchen and looked over at us with a huge smile. "Ooh it's you! My boys special girl!" She excitedly laughed as she pulled me into a huge hug.

Oh brother.

After a long dinner, of being questioned, embarrassed, reminded, and even stared at angrily by Eden across the table. I caught Billie in the kitchen on his own as I begged him to take me home. I didn't care if it was empty, I needed a breather. I think I need to go back to my empty house.

He agreed taking me home, I said goodbye to Ollie and attempted to say goodbye to Eden, but she was still and maybe even more angry at me.

"Right, come on then," Billie said standing at the door, swirling the keys around his finger.

"Right, coming. Thanks again Ollie. See you soon." I shouted running to the front door where he was waiting. I took a deep breath out of relief as he laughed unlocking the door and we both walked out of it.

"At least she can stop bombarding me with questions now." Billie shrugged opening the car door for me. I climbed in thanking him as he carried on climbing into his seat. "I have a feeling Eden told her," he mumbled.

"Who else would've?"

"I told you Eden's mad,"

"Can I put the radio on?" I asked him. He nodded as I turned it on, changing the channels and turning the volume up and down before being satisfied.

We drove for a bit longer talking about random things, going off topics and swerving into completely different conversations until he stopped outside my house.

I looked out the window at the house. No lights on, since it was empty. I hated feeling like I was living on my own more than anything, but that was how life was I guess.

"You alright?" Billie asked, I looked away from the house and over at him.

Giving him a tiny smile. "Empty houses suck,"

"Really? You could have a party at your house every day if you wanted to,"

"Party's arent really my thing, y'know this Beej,"

"Alright alright. Well.... you could always just invite friends round?"

"My mom doesn't allow people over,"

"Your mom isn't ho-"

"-She has cameras. She checks when I'm not home that no ones broken in or stolen anything. She obviously knows I'm mostly at yours, so someone somehow has to check,"

"Good point... why don't you just come back with me? Talk things out with Eden?"

"Because she terrifies me when she's angry? I'll be okay- the night just drags,"

"Call me if you get lonely,"

"That won't be long,"

He laughed slightly as I undid my seat belt and got out the car. I walked around the car, Since I got out on the road and Billie rolled down his window.

"Thanks for coming tonight. I really do appreciate it, you saved me big time," he said once more, with a genuine smile.

"You're welcome I guess, at least that 'meeting your mom as your girlfriend' thing is over and done with now," I shivered, it being cold outside.

"Go inside, you look freezing,"

"I am,"

He put his arm out the window as I leaned closer to him, knowing he was gonna flick the end of my nose as I prepared closing my eyes.

But, Weirdly enough. I felt no flick, instead he kissed me on my cheek.

I opened my eyes and looked at him confused, my face heating up and a nervous smile on my face. "I- I thought you was- was gonna-"

He cut me off flicking my nose unexpectedly as I flicked stepping back, causing him to laugh as I giggled again still nervous.

"Goodnight Birdie," he whispered, with a little smile.

I gave back what I could already tell was a lob sided grin as I repeated it back. "Goodnight Beej,"

He began to start the car as I walked back up to my house. Fumbling with the keys like I always did with this old door lock before it unlocked and I kicked the door open with great force. Sometimes it got stuck or jammed, even though it was unlocked.

Many times I would lock it again thinking it was still that way, but it was just an old door that needed replacing.

I turned on the lights around the house so I felt more 'at home' or at ease. I don't even know if I could say at home. I was never here most of the time and I had never had any 'homely' experiences here apart from the few I shared with my mom when she would return.

I walked over to the phone on the wall.

"One new message, to hear your message-"

I cut the auto bot off pressing a button. *beep*

"Hello love it's me!" My moms fruity voice played, as I rolled my eyes knowing what would come. "So... bad news sweetie, my plane has been delayed. I might be home a little later than what we might've though- but! I'll make it up to you darling don't worry. Okay? When we get home we can-"

"-Message deleted," The female robot confirmed.

She uses pet names to soften the blow. It's obvious. That was just three before I cut it off. God knows how many more came after.

Was it silly to cry over someone who wasn't here? Cause if so, I must look like an idiot.

I put the phone back picking mine out my pocket, pressing a few buttons as I held it to my ear. Holding a breath incase my voice was shaky and gave away how much of a cry baby I was currently being right now.

"Hi Birdie, everything oka-"

"-I'm lonely already Beej,"
