"I didn't mean to interrupt, I suppose you were having fun." Moon walked his way to the both of them, making everything around him drop to the ground. A bird flew by him and without a few seconds lasting, it is on the ground begging to be freed back to the skies.

Poppet hid behind Chase in shock. She assumed men who made birds fall to the ground were evil. She supposed the glowing pale man was evil.

"What are you doing here?" Chase asked.

Moon had a sly face, a dark smile. He walked closer to Chase where Poppet was, and brushed his hands over the strands of Poppet's hair. Chase flinched, and slapped his hand off her.

Moon laughed. "Are you fond of this girl, Chase?"

"Very much."

Moon chuckled again, like everything for him was funny. "I've decided to take you back, but I guess you're too fond of this girl to leave."

Chase's eyebrows furrowed. He did not like what Moon was saying. Poppet tugged on Chase's coat from behind, wanting them to stop.

"I've come for a bargain," Moon whirled his fingers and the bird on the ground flew once again.

"What is it?" Chase asked, in a stern voice.

"If you agree to this bargain, Poppet would be able to see colors. For the first time. Don't you want that?"

Chase softened, the idea of Poppet finally being able to see color made him glad. He wanted everything for her. "In exchange of?"

"You."

Poppet tugged on Chase's coat harder, as if wanting to say no. Chase turned around to face her, holding her hand and squeezing it lightly. Poppet knew what was happening. She didn't like it.

"No!" She let go of Chase's hands and approached Moon.

"He will not die. Never." Moon laughed. "He would just replace me, as the Moon as I stay here. And you'll be able to see color. The end, happily ever after."

"This world is not some place you'd want to stay in." Poppet sighed. "You'd rather stay up there."

"But I find it boring up there, missing out in all the fun. I admit, I'm kind of jealous of you. You're free to do what you desire, while I light up the world and take nightmares."

Poppet felt a brief wave of sympathy as the wind blew by her face.

"Why Chase? Why make him the new light?"

"He's the only one I know who'd do the job right."

Poppet was lost for words. Whatever argument she threw, he gave out mountains of reasons. She could not climb those mountains now, not if she was so close to her breaking point.

"Still, you gave him. You will not take him back," Poppet said. Her voice shook.

"I won't take him," Moon said. "It depends on whether he'll stay, or leave you."

Chase ran up to Poppet and held her hand once again. His face went sullen as he dragged her somewhere more private to talk.

"Poppet, don't you want to see color? To finally see how beautiful the world is?"

Poppet was silent. Lost in her thoughts, and drowning in dense air. She liked Chase. Their first meeting wasn't so great, and she did not like him then. But now, after all the shoulders and arms he offered to Poppet, he was a blessing.

He resurrected her heart and senses back into this world and helped her grow stronger. She owed Moon her life, for if Chase did not come so soon, she could have been with the wind and oceans of this land. But he already gave him up. Moon cannot take him back.

Chase did what color did not have the chance to do. He helped her see life as more than just a burden. She loved life. She loved him. And she lived.

"Chase, you are why I'm still here. You gave me a life to be happy of. Why does color matter when you're right here?"

She kissed him on the cheek and embraced him tightly. She didn't want to let him go. Chase didn't want to let her go either.

"Poppet, I always thought I wasn't so important." He lightly stroked her hair and nuzzled his face on her neck. "I thought people would use me only for my abilities. The moments I spent time with you, I hoped you'd keep me for a much longer time."

"Thank you, Poppet. For keeping me. I hope you'd never let me go."

Poppet chuckled at his words. She wouldn't let him go. Never.

"Please settle this," Poppet said. "I don't want some man killing my birds."

Chase laughed and let her go. "I'll be with you soon."

Chase walked over to Moon and they disappeared along with the light. Fireflies surrounded Poppet, lighting up her surroundings as she sat by her doorstep. The the word "soon" paraded her thoughts.

Soon.

It will all be okay,

Soon.
