You looked at me so menacing
My phone panning out to show the room
I keep staring on without blinking
Laying frozen as a figure races to consume
The pulse quicken as arms wrap around
I jump up and run not making a sound
My heart stops as I'm surrounded by shadows
Swirling like demons in a hallway of lost souls
What do I do? Do I run through or turn back
To another figure that's not suppose to be there
My heart skips like a bad CD track
When the shadows wrap around my arm, despair
I scream out no into the frigid air
Reaching out for the one person who truly cares
Opening my eyes as my screaming ends
To the sound of your voice so soothing
The dread I felt instantly mends
Bringing on a short peaceful rest
After a brief chat that allowed me to relax
Everyday a little bit closer to the best
Days to come, filled with kisses to the max
Never ending hugs that always last
Long after you release me when I have to go
Don't worry I'll hurry home fast
So we can sit and watch our favorite shows
You remind me that nightmares don't stay
