{Chapter. 12. An unexpected discovery}

{Scotts POV}

I woke up the next morning, looking around my room and attempting to gain my line of vision from being lured into sleep for so long
I rubbed my eyes and swallowed thickly, my throat hurt terribly.
Though still, i stood up and got dressed, sitting down at my vanity to continue getting ready
but right then is when owen came upstairs

"Uh-uh. nope. no sir. get back in cozy cloths, take off your makeup and get the heck back in bed." Owen demanded, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms
"owen theres a server meeting, and an important one at that" i muttered and went back to drawing on my eyeliner
"Scott.. you have to stop doing this to yourself.." owen frowned and came up next to me placing a hand on my shoulder
"ill be fine owen. its j-" i was cut off by coughing, harsh coughing and i moved the trashcan under my vanity to next to me and spat out blood into it before putting it back
"..scott.. thats.. thats not fine.." owen mumbled and knelt down next to me
"..but i will be." i mumbled back and crossed my legs, finishing off my makeup and getting up off my chair
"scott.. please.." owen mumbled and tried to hold me back.
but i jumped off the loft and grabbed my keys before he could even reach me
"ill be back in a few hours." i muttered and pushed the door open, closing it gently

i walked through chromia for a few minutes, taking a few breaths to calm myself down
i wandered through my half dead flower fields, watering the flowers as i went in order to hopefully replenish some of them
though after awhile i set down my watering can and spread my wings.
and after while i had flown all the way to Tumble Town where this server meeting was held.
The very second i landed on the sandy grounds i felt an overwhelming sense of nausea wash over me, i brushed it off and went inside anyways.
Going over to my seat and sitting down.
The meeting dragged on for what felt like ever.
though i started to get a really bad headache only half way through.
i tried to take a deep breathe and breathe through it but it became unbearable.
i didnt even have the energy to excuse myself and just got up and went outside.
standing out there and trying to breathe, but i fell to the sand against the wall, sobbing and wrapping my arms around my stomach.
i put my head between my knees and tried to breathe between sobs.
but i failed and just curled up in a ball.

[Around 1.5 hours later]

i felt a hand on my shoulder, Shelbys.
i looked up and wiped my eyes swiftly

"hey, hey you dont have to hide it, its okay to cry! but whats wrong? are you alright.?" she asked softly with a smile
"..i-.. yeah.." i mumbled and she looked at me with a soft expression
"..Scott, you can talk to me.. you walked out in the middle of the meeting for evermoores sake-" she sighed and chuckled a little
"..sorry.. i- i just dont feel good.. u-uhm.. i- ju-just needed a bit.." i mumbled and sniffled, wiping my eyes
"hey.. how about i help you back to chromia okay? we can go back together" she offered with a smile and extended her hand
"..i-.. ide like that.." i mumbled and grabbed her hand softly as she helped me up
i took a deep breath and she grabbed her broom, floating it and sitting on it herself, helping me onto it afterwards
i took a deep breath and she started flying it towards my empire
though not even 30 minutes into the flight..

Ide fainted. 

Dark, all over again.

Just a pitch black void..

no noise..

no color...

Nothing.

{Shelbys POV}

Something felt.. off..
i looked back and saw an unconscious scott and swiftly grabbed him so he didnt fall,
i took a sharp turn towards Dawn and flew as fast as i could to the sun empire.
i landed quickly and saw gem working on the sun church

"UHM- GEMMM-" i quickly called, sitting on the ground next to my broom with an unconscious scott leaning on me
"wha- OH GOD!" she ran upto us and swiftly lifted scott into her arms, motioning for me to follow, so i did

{Gems POV}

i internally was panicking as i laid scott down on a bed in my hospital at dawn. 
i took a deep breath and went back out to shelby who was in the waiting room

"Now, what exactly happened Shrub?" i asked as i folded my hands infront of me seconds after dusting off my long pink/coral dress
"..i- i dont know-! i- i checked on him after the meeting and he said he didnt feel well so i was taking him back to chromia and he just- fainted-!" she tried to explain whilst looking me in the eyes
"hey, shelby take a minute okay? calm down, im going to go run the tests i can.. if im not helpful i might have to call cub.." i muttered
"as in go over to hermitcraft and drag cub out of the rift-?" she chuckled slightly
"yes-" i spoke back before taking a deep breath and walking back down the hall to scotts room

hours passed of test after test.
Though after multiple x-rays and external scans i looked closer. 
3 of his ribs were damaged near the bottom of his lungs where the most expansion occurs.
i was confused at the results, so i ran more tests.
an MRI first in which took the longest out of all the tests.
a few hours passed and i was sitting in my office reviewing the results of all the testing.
though when i got to the same area as here i saw the damaged ribs..

..there was..

vines?

and.. leafs?

there was 3 blooming flowers within his lungs.

the sight horrified me and i quickly added him to my official admissions list and ran to go see if hed woken up.
when i walked in i saw him still laying there, but he was slowly gaining consciousness.

"Scott, can you hear me?" i asked and walked towards the bed.
there was no verbal response but he gave a subtle and calm nod.
"Im going to give you a little bit to wake up, and gain your surroundings, your at dawns hospital, you are safe here in our care." i spoke, assuring him of where he was and allowing him to wake up a little
i saw him nod again and shift onto his side from where hed been laying
"get as comfortable as you can, ill be back in a few minutes when your more awake and aware alright?"
he nodded and i smiled softly before exiting the room and rushing into the waiting room to find shelby and now katherine sitting.
"Shelby, Katherine" i spoke calmly and sat down across from the two
"is he alright?" shelby spoke nervously
"im.. im not sure shelbs.. kath, when did you get here?" i asked and answered politely
"shrub told me what happened so i came to calm her down." katherine explained and i nodded

{Shelbys POV} 

i was shaking with anxiety, i didnt know what to expect at the moment

"did you find anything wrong with him!?" i asked nervously again, shaking in my seat whilst clutching katherines hand
"I apologize but due to uncertainty of what is truely going on we cannot disclose his current state." gem explained calmly with a professional smile
"..alright.. when should we expect him to be out and stable.?" katherine spoke for me
"well, hes currently awake and still seems to be stable, but hes insanely tired and drowsy still, im not sure when to expect his discharge though.." gem explained and we both nodded.
"..please contact us if or when you find anything severe.. please?" i asked and gem nodded.

me and katherine left shortly after.
katherine ended up staying at the evermoore with me where we just curled up on the couch and watched movies with hot chocolate and blankets, of course with Tortoise.

{Scotts POV}

after awhile i sat up and just kinda.. looked around.
blinking tiredly and leaning against the pillows.
i yawned and went to rub my eyes but there was a sharp pain in my chest and throat which made me lay back down. 
all that occurred only  seconds before the door opened and gem walked in
i waved gently and she waved and smiled back

"more awake now?" she smiled softly and sat on a stool next to my bed
"..mmhm" i hummed, i couldnt bring myself to fully talk yet as my throat and chest hurt horribly
"..Scott are you aware of.. any abnormalities in your functions recently..?" she asked gently and i froze, at that very moment.. i knew that she knew.. she found out..
i took a deep breath and sat up, swallowing thickly and forcing myself to speak in a raspy tone
"..gem.. is thi-" i was cut off by a coughing fit, i covered my mouth with my elbow but blood splattered out of my mouth and onto my jacket
"..is this about.. that.." i mumbled and wiped my mouth with my sleeve
"..Scott. how long." she spoke sternly and i froze.
"..How Long." she repeated sternly, i was frozen. 
I couldnt bring myself to move or speak.
i was just stuck
frozen in place as i started silently panicking

"..How long..?"
