An example of the reaction l usually get when l bring up vaporwave.

Me: Hey do you want to hear this really cool genre of music that is based around an 80's aesthetic, distorted elevator music and nostalgic or retro beats?
Pun Master: Is it topping the charts?
Me: Not anytime soon.
Pun Master: I hate it already, l can't believe you would even suggest l listen to music that isn't trending. That suggestion was in a literal sense "off the charts."
Me: But you haven't even listened to it.
Pun Master: I only listen to songs that top the charts, now they're "music to my ears."

This is how a regular conversation usually goes when l try to introduce people to vaporwave. I don't see why they have to instantly decline my offer before they've even given it a try. An 80's Aesthetic that also incorporates roman busts and the Seinfeld show into it's theme sounds pretty awesome to me. Just saying.

It seems like people don't even want to try to listen to vaporwave and half of the time they don't even listen to a single song from the genre before they decide that it's terrible and the other half of the time they think l'm talking about vaping and say that they don't do drugs, this is probably the most annoying thing ever.

Whenever l try to bring up anything that isn't "popular" l'm instantly shot down and they continue to talk about anime.
(Um yeah we discuss anime... l don't know what you expected.)

Well anyways. I'm sick of talking about anime and l really want to discuss art, puns or 80's music.

I understand that people have things they like and dislike but to know whether you like something or dislike something you have to try it first and it seems that's not the case with vaporwave. If people were more open minded l'm sure a lot of more people would have exciting or different interests but it seems that most of my class are as bland as biscuits and would rather follow social norms rather than enjoy themselves.
