chapter twenty: distraction
It has been a month since Peter left Elisa in her art room. And he hasn't left to fight crime, train, or even speak to Ned. He's just been holed up in his room, laying in his bed, staring at the bed above his. He heard Aunt May walk in, setting down a plate of food, picking up the one from the night before, cold and untouched.
He didn't say anything as May stroked his hair and walked out.
Peter was conflicted, he felt anger when he first saw the paintings, when he realized his dream girl had been stalking him for months on end and painted him. But something broke in him when he saw the light leave Elisa's eyes, when the hope in her died.
Peter was hotheaded when he left the Avengers base, his heart racing as his head exploded with angry thoughts. Anger for Elisa stalking him, anger at himself for getting close to her. Hell, even anger at Tony for letting it go that far.
A month ago, he wished he took the subway home, skipping Delmars bodega. But now, he wants to go back. He is supposed to train.
Peter got up, eating the breakfast May made for him and changed his clothes. He left his room, scaring May as he grabs his keys and wallet and left.
"Going to the base!" He yelled and left in a rush.

Elisa sat in her room, staring at Peters photo. She locked her phone, staring at the light shining through the window and shut her eyes and took a deep breath, letting it go she stood up. She played her music, Florence + the Machine playing through her speakers.
Elisa blanked her mind, moving with the rhythm as she tried to forget every moment she spent with Peter.
It didn't work.
Elisa sighed. She heard a knock on the doors and opened it with her telekinesis.
Loki stood in her doorway and looked at her phone connected to the speakers.
"Odd taste in tunes," he said as he walked in.
"The bug is here, lets go somewhere else why don't we?" He asked and Elisa nodded.
"Let me get ready, I don't want the public to see my face like this, they'll know something is up," she said and Loki nodded, bowing as he walked up, shutting the door behind him.
Elisa looked in her mirror, growing at her face as walked over to her vanity desk, putting on a full face of makeup and she got up as she was baking walking over to her closet and put on some nice clothes.
When she finished getting ready, she walked out to see Loki in an all black suit. She raised an eyebrow.
"Is that all you have?" She asked and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"What's wrong?" He asked and Elisa sighed.
"We're updating your wardrobe," she spoke and walked out to the kitchen, Steve was sitting at the island on his laptop, watching a movie.
"Still catching up on the times?" Elisa asked and Steve looked over, shock showing through.
"You're out and looking like you're leaving?" He asked.
"Yeah, goth boy here has like, one suit and it puts Gerard Way to shame," Elisa chuckled at Loki.
"Whose that?" Steve asked and Elisa smiled.
"Add My Chemical Romance to your list," Elisa said and grabbed a granola bar. She grabbed her keys and wallet, motioning for Loki to follow her to her car.
"Lady Elisa, you are good at driving correct?" He asked.
"I have to be, how can I fly a plane if I can't drive a car?" She asked and Loki nodded. They got in, Elisa putting on her seatbelt and Loki staring at her crazy.
"Well put it on!" Elisa pointed to his.
"What is it?" He asked.
"You've never seen a seatbelt before?" She asked and he shook his head. Elisa chuckled and showed him how to use it. Loki put on his seatbelt and Elisa turned on the car, putting on her music and drove off.
"So, how public are we going to be?" He asked and Elisa frowned.
"The public knows you're good now," she said and he nodded.
"Well that's assuring," he let out a breath of relief as Elisa pulled into the parking lot of the mall.
"Trust me, heads will turn but no one will bother you, they'll have to get through me first," she smiled weakly to Loki as she turned off the car and got out.
Loki did the same. Elisa stuffed her wallet and keys in her pocket, walking over to Loki and headed to the entrance. A couple people did double takes at the man in all black next to the Avenger.
"This is where Peter asked to take me on a first date," Elisa reminisced as they walked past the food court to go to banana republic.
"Forget that loser," Loki nudged her arm and she looked up at him, smiling and looking back into the store and led him in.
"Hi, welcome to Banana Republic," the guy at the register spoke and Loki gave a small smile as they walked over to the mens section.
"So, we're going to get a couple things that look to be your size and we'll go from there" Elisa spoke as she looked through different pants. She pulled out a couple pairs of simple jeans, holding them up to his waist.
"These look good," she thought aloud, walking over to the shirts and picked some out, handing the clothes to him.
"Try these on," she spoke and pushed him into a dressing room.
Elisa felt a tap on her shoulder, she turned around to see the worker with wide eyes.
"Was that Loki?" He whispered and she nodded.
"Yeah why?" She asked.
"He won't.. take over," He quivered and Elsianrolled her eyes, "FOX news is spreading fake news, again, Loki is fine, he's here to make amends with us and his brother."
Elisa turned away, seeing him opened the door in the new clothes.
"Wow!" She smiled, "what a stud!"
"I don't feel like one."
