Lutes pov

We arrived at the house we got called in for reports of screaming. It could all just be a prank but if it's legit this could get messy.

Adam waltz in without a care. I jogged to keep pace with him.

"I've got your back sir" I said firmly.

"Do you have to call me sir? We are married and on banging terms" he smirked.

"Just trying to stay professional" I smiled bashfully. This guy!

We stepped inside, guns in hand and the sight we saw was gruesome to say the least. The bodies of a man, women and child lay there mangled and bloody. Out of the corner of my eye I saw a man make a run for it. Adam pulled out his pistol and shot the bastard.

"How you like that you tiny dick bitch" he spat.

I bent down to the little girl with tears in my eyes. This is too cruel. To my shock I saw her chest moving "Adam she's alive!"

"Oh fuck!" He jumped "wrap her wounds lute I'll call an ambulance"

*Time skip*

We sat in the hospital hallway. Adam paced back and forth anxiously while I placed my hands together in prayer. Please god let that little girl be ok.

Suddenly a doctor came in "she's stable and conscious. Would you like to see her"

"Yeah we would" we shoved the doctor aside and headed inside. Sitting there was the little girl covered in bandages including around her right eye. She's probably lost the use of that eye.

"Hey kiddo" Adam spoke in a soft tone he normally never uses "I bought you a teddy"

"Thank you" she hugged the teddy with sad eyes "where's my parents?"

We eyed each other nervously "I'm afraid they're not here anymore"

She teared up "I'm all alone"

"You're not alone honey. We're going to visit you everyday" I said reassuringly.

"But what about when I get out of hospital?" She asked "I don't have anyone to live with"

"You can live with us" adam said quickly "that's ok isn't it?" he eyed me nervously.

"Of course it's alright" I squeezed his hand reassuringly "would you like that honey?"

"Yeah I'd like that a lot" she hugged the teddy with a small smile. What a strong kid.

We turned to each other and nodded, making a silent promise to protect that little girl.
