Chapter 6: I'm So Sorry

The next morning, Ash woke up to the smell of breakfast and it was coming from downstairs.

Simply out of instinct, Ash got out of bed and made his way to the kitchen where Misty was making his favorite. Sausage and gravy with eggs.

As he made his way around the corner he bumped right into Misty, startling her and causing her to drop a plate of freshly made food.

Instead of going to pick it up they just stood there. Staring into each other's eyes for a few seconds before Ash came to.

"Ohh I'm so sorry. Here let me get that."

"No, no, let me." Misty responded, embarrassed from what just happened.

Just as Ash ducked down to pick up the pieces of broken plate, Misty did the same, causing them to bump heads. As they looked back up, they caught each other's gaze and once again stared at each other. They were no more than 6 inches away from each other's mouths.

Misty then noticed how long they were staring at each other and how close they were. She immediately stood back up with a slight blush on her face.

"A-alright, fine you can get it. After all you were the one that caused me to drop it." She snapped and turned around to fix another plateful.

"Oookay." Ash was startled by the sudden change in atmosphere. One second she was fine and the next she was angry.

'Classic Misty.' He thought.

"Sooooo. What do you want to do after breakfast?" Ash asked.

"Well if you really want to know, I plan on going to the store and getting some groceries since you wiped out the fridge last night!" Misty was still upset about the friend zone she had received yesterday, and that had evolved into anger overnight.

"What? I get up in the middle in the night and eat a little here and there before going back to bed. I've always done that, you know this. What is up with you this morning?" Ash asked.

"What is up with me? What's the matter is that you wipe out everything in the house that is edible without permission and think that's okay! Do you have any manners at all?"

"I'm sorry that I upset you." Ash said sincerely. "I didn't know it would make you that mad. If you want me to I can..." he was interrupted by Misty who was about to say something she would regret dearly.

"You can what? Leave for another 6 years and not even so much as right me a letter or send me a postcard to show that your okay and still care! You never even came to visit me before you took off for Unova! I've had to sit here for 8 f**king years waiting to finally see you again!" Misty stated harshly.

"Hey you know I care and you also know that I'm sorry! What is with you Mist?" Ash was becoming irritated with Misty's sudden outburst of anger. At first it was entertaining, but now its becoming more and more uncalled for.

"Don't call me that! You lost that privilege when you decided to abandon me!" This hurt Ash tremendously and she knew it, but she continued anyways.

"And no Ash, you don't care! Your just a f*cking idiot! You expect everyone to get down on their hands and knees and forgive the great and mighty Pokémon Master for abandoning them so long ago! Well you know what? F*ck you Ash. I'm sick of your Sh*t! GET THE HELL OUT!"

"..."

"..."

Misty finally took the time to think about everything she had just said and knew that she didn't mean any of it. But there was no taking it back now. She had already said it.

"Ash I..."

"No you know what Misty? I'm tired of this Sh*t!" Ash's voice grew louder as he spoke. He started to cry.

"I thought you knew I cared, but I guess you don't! I have fought so hard to get to where I am today and you want to know why? It's because I was trying to get back to you! To Brock! TO EVERYONE!"

After hearing this Misty started to cry too. She knew that she had hurt him BAD, but she didn't have the courage to fight back, nor the strength to say anything. She just stood there, recoiling every time Ash yelled.

Ash wiped some of the tears from his face and rushed to the room he stayed in the night before. Misty followed suit to see what he was doing.

"Ash what are you..."

Ash turned around suddenly, causing Misty to fall to the ground. While he towered above her, he started to scream.

"WHAT DOES IT MATTER TO YOU! I THOUGHT I DIDN'T CARE, SO WHY SHOULD YOU!" She had never seen Ash this upset before. It scared her.

Pikachu then ran out of the room and looked at the two.

"Pika pi chupi?" (What's going on?)

"Where leaving that's what!" Ash snapped as he gathered up his things.

"Come on Pikachu!" Ash patted his shoulder, signaling Pikachu to jump up to him. But he hesitated to do so.

"Pi pi pika Pikachupi?" (What about Misty?)

"PIKACHU!" Ash screamed. He didn't mean to yell at his companion, but the emotions he had built up over the past 6 years where flowing out and there was no stopping them.

Pikachu knew this and held no anger toward his friend. Instead he decided it was best to obey and leave with Ash.

As Pikachu jumped onto his shoulder, Ash looked down to Misty who was staring into his eyes. She was crying like a raging river and even after all the words that were shot between the two, it still broke Ash's heart to see her cry. He leaned up against the wall and start crying as well.

They stayed like that for almost a minute before Ash looked away and started towards the front door.

Before he could leave, Misty scurried to her feet and managed to grab Ash's arm before he got out the door. Ash immediately pulled away from her and stared at her.

"Please don't leave." Misty said at an audible whisper with tears flowing down her checks. Her pupils were dilated and her eyes were bloodshot from all of the crying she had done and is still doing.

Ash stared at Misty for what seemed like hours before he spoke. His eyes were still leaking and he was still pissed. He started off at a normal voice.

"I don't get you Misty. One second your happy that I'm back, the next your telling me that I'm a f*cking idiot and screaming at me to leave, and now your begging me to come back?" His voice started to grow louder.

"All I ever wanted to do was become Pokémon Master not only because it was my childhood dream, but also to prove I could do something with my life!" He took a second to think. He came back in a low and hurt voice.

"But as time went on the dream died. I tried to convince myself otherwise, but the drive behind every step I took turned from me finally achieving my childhood dreams to me finally getting home and making up for all the things I have done to my family... to my friends... and most importantly... to my best friend."

"Ash I..."

"LET ME F*CKING FINISH!" This sudden outburst not only startled Misty, but it also attracted the attention of everyone walking past the gym.

"I wanted to finally get back so I could tell everyone how stupid it was for me to leave and that I was sorry, but when I finally got back everyone treated it like I never left. I was finally back home for good and everything seemed to work out. I thought everyone already understood I was sorry and was happy that I was back." Ash then looked toward the ground and signed. He formed his hands into fists, anger manifesting inside of him once again.

"How f*cking wrong I was huh."

Misty saw the hurt in Ash's eyes before he looked at the ground and wanted to take everything back. She wanted her best friend back.

It was starting to get late. Misty wanted to try and get Ash to stay so they could work this out.

"Ash... I'm so sorry. I had no idea." Misty stopped crying for a second to pull Ash back into the gym.

As she grasped his arm for a second time, he started to go along with it. Right before he returned back inside, however, he pulled away from her and looked her straight in the eyes.

"It's to late for sorry."

And with that Ash turned around and walked off.

Misty ran back inside and shut the door. She sat down and leaned against the door as she cried. She cried nonstop and sat there for ages. 4 hours went by and she finally stopped crying.

After she finished cleaning off her face, she got up and called Ash's cell. He didn't answer, but of course he didn't. Why would he?

She then called Brock who almost immediately picked up the phone.

"Hey Misty. How are..."

"Brock! I messed up! BAD! I messed up REAL bad!" She started to hyperventilate.

"Woah slow down Misty. What exactly happened?"

Misty then took the time to explain to Brock what had happened. After she finished, Brock didn't say anything for a few seconds. She started to ask if he was still there until he finally asked a question. One she didn't expect.

"Misty... do you love him or not?"

"..."

"..."

"Misty?" Brock asked.

"I don't know Brock. What kind of question is that?"

"Just answer it!" Brock snapped, startling Misty

She thought for a second until she finally answered.

"Yes... yes I do."

"Then you know what you need to do."

"But Brock. He doesn't feel the same way. He never has... especially not now." Misty wanted to cry, but she couldn't. She didn't have any tears left.

Brock knew from the way that Ash acted around her that there was something there and he started to tell her, but he stopped himself. Brock wasn't necessarily scared that he was wrong, but he didn't want to intrude. He wanted them to figure this out on their own.

"So? Even if he doesn't feel the same way, that doesn't change how you feel about him. Am I correct?"

"Yes." She answered.

"Well then fight for him. Win back his friendship. All he wanted was to come home to his friends and family and show them that he never forgot them and still cares. If you just show him that you care then he will forgive you. He cares about you to much not to."

"You really think so?"

"I know so." Brock stated more surely than he has ever before.

"Thank you Brock."

"Don't mention it." He started to hang up the phone before he got a "Hey Brock." From the other end of the line.

"Yeah Misty?"

"I think I might know the perfect way to prove to Ash that I care." Misty had a smirk on her face as she said this.

"What's that Misty?"

"Well he never had a proper welcome home party now did he?"

Flashback: 1 Hour

As Ash walked through the forest toward Pallet, Pikachu sat on his shoulder and said nothing. All of a sudden he decided to jump down and confront Ash.

"Pika pi chupi?" (Are you okay?)

Ash was silent and kept walking. He did this for a few more steps before finally stopping and turning to face Pikachu. He knew he couldn't ignore him forever.

"Yeah I'm fine. I'm sorry I yelled before. I was just upset."

"Pika pi pika." (I know.)

"I just... I just couldn't handle being there any longer. Not after what she said. I thought everything was okay between us. I guess I was wrong." Ash turned back around. Pikachu could hear him crying to himself.

"Pik pika pi chu chu pika pikachupi pi pi pika pikachu. Pikachu pi pika pi. chu pika pikachu." (You know how Misty gets sometimes Ash. Just give her time. She'll come around.)

Ash stood there for a second and thought about that for a moment. He recalled everything they had said to each other before he left.

"I don't think she will this time buddy." Ash sighed. "Let's just get home."

And with that, Ash started to walk away with Pikachu close behind. Right as they were entering his mom's driveway. Ash looked up at the sky and sighed.

"And to think I caused all of this over some stupid dream." Ash sadly walked into his childhood home, only to be greeted by his mother and a day to himself.

And that's the end of chapter 6. Sorry for the excessive cursing. I wanted to add in as much emotion into the fight as possible. As always I hope you enjoyed it and I'll talk to y'all in the next one. Peace!
