This was it. The time has come. Ash was standing at the entrance to the battlefield where he would be facing the first of the Elite 4 members, Lorelai. He could hear the cries and cheers from the fans and it only made him feel even more nervous than he already was. All of these people came to see him win and he didn't want to let them down.

Ash was about to enter the area when someone came up and grabbed him from behind. Ash turned around and notice that it was Professor Sycamore. "Professor, what are you doing here? I don't have time for this! I need to get out there and..."

"I know, I know. I only need a short amount of time." The professor assured him. "Bring out Charizard real quick."

"But why?"

"Just do it and you shall see."

Ash obeyed and retrieved Charizard's ball from his belt. After calling him out, the professor got to work attaching a band to Charizard's wrist. Ash noticed what it was and gasped at the sight.

"Where in the hell did you get a mega stone!"

"I had a spare one laying around and it just so happened to be a Mega Charizardite Y. It should help you against Bruno's Mega Lucario." This confused Ash.

"First of all, when did Bruno get a Lucario and, second of all, I'm going against Lorelai first." The professor facepalmed and sighed.

"Ash do you not keep up with the news?" The professor questioned.

"Uhhhhhh."

"I didn't think so." Professor Sycamore chuckled.

"Lorelai retired last year and a new trainer took her place. When this newcomer came into the fray, she turned out to be better than all of the other Elite 4 members and they listed her as the last member that the trainers have to face before taking on the Pokémon Master. Hell, I heard that she almost took out the Pokémon Master himself! And to answer your other question, the newcomer helped make changes to the other Elite 4 member's strategies and fighting styles to help them improve. She had a lot of experience with Pokémon from other regions, so she helped them improve their Pokémon lineups as well, hence the Lucario." Ash was speechless. He was supposed to be best of the best and he couldn't even keep up with who he would be facing.

"Do you know who this new member is?" Ash asked as he rubbed the back of his head. Ash was scared of this newcomer to the Elite 4. If he didn't figure out about her soon then he could be in a world of trouble later on. To his luck, Professor Sycamore did now a little bit about her.

"They never gave her name to the public. They wanted to make it a surprise for everyone that follows the League. I do know that she's a water type trainer, so be wary of that, but that's all I know."  The professor then handed Ash his bracelet to mega evolve Charizard.

Ash put it on and smiled. "Thanks for everything professor."

"No problem Ash. Just do something for me."

"And what's that?"

"Get out there and kick some ass!" The two laughed for a second before hearing the referee call for Ash.

"Well I better get going. Wish me luck!" Ash called to Professor Sycamore as he made his way into the arena.

"You don't need it!" The professor called back. This made Ash smile and, soon enough, he found himself getting applause from the thousands of screaming fans awaiting his, sure to be ferocious, battle with Bruno.

Ash looked to the other side of the battlefield and saw his competition. As a child, he always dreamed of having the chance to face an Elite 4 member, and the fact that he was about to battle one and have the chance to prove himself felt amazing. Ash noticed the Bruno had a headband on that held a mega stone in the center.

'Looks like the professor was right.' Ash gulped. This would be a difficult battle to say the least.

"Are you ready?" The referee asked Bruno. He simply huffed in response.

"Are you ready?" The referee asked Ash.

"I was born ready!" Bruno snickered at this.

"They all say that... then they lose." Bruno smirked.

"Are you sure about that? If you were a challenge then you would be later in the lineup, but here we are." Ash smirked back. Bruno's cocky expression instantly went away and Ash could see a fire build up in his eyes. At that moment, Ash knew... he fucked up.

"This will be a 6 on 6 battle! The person with Pokémon remaining at the end will be the victor! Let the battle... COMMENCE!" The referee called out before making his way off the battlefield.

"Let's start this off strong!" Bruno yelled. "Hitmonlee, Assist me!" As the Pokémon materialized, Ash made his choice.

"Let's fight a fighting type with a fighting type! Infernape, I choose you!"

The two Pokémon stared each other down. The fury was evident in each of the Pokémon's eyes.

"Hitmonlee, use Mega Kick!" The fighting Pokémon raced toward Infernape and jumped into the air.

"Infernape, dodge it!" Ash cried. Infernape was able to successfully dodge the attack and Hitmonlee landed right beside him.

"Hitmonlee, use Low Sweep!" Bruno called out. Hitmonlee shot a glace at Infernape before dropping down and sweeping his legs out from underneath him. He then jumped up and tried to land a direct karate chop to Infernape's neck, but he was able to role out of the way.

"Use Blaze Kick!" Ash called out. Infernape's foot was instantly engulfed in fire and he jumped up and kicked Hitmonlee in the face, sending him flying in the opposite direction and hitting the ground hard.

However, to Ash's dismay, the Hitmonlee got right back up. "You didn't think it would be that easy did you?" Bruno started to laugh. Infernape growled at him and shot a flame thrower into the ground in front of him.

"Hitmonlee, use Close Combat!" Bruno called out to his Pokémon. Hitmonlee rushed forward, prepared to unleash his devastating combination of kicks and punches.

"Infernape, jump up and dodge it!" Infernape obeyed and jumped into the air. Hitmonlee screeched to a stop and looked up at his opponent. "Here's our chance!" Ash screamed. "Infernape, use fire blast mid-air!"

Infernape built up the attack and unleashed an intense blast of all-consuming fire. It engulfed Hitmonlee and, when the fire subsided, the Pokémon was on his knees. Ash thought it was over until he heard his opponent call off another attack.

"Hitmonlee, use endure!" Bruno grinned. The Pokémon looked up and started to glow a bright red. He stood up, shook off the pain, and took a fighting stance. "Good job Hitmonlee! Now use Double Kick!"

The Pokémon raced toward Infernape and jumped into the air, landing both kicks directly to Infernape's chest. This sent him flying back and into the stadium's wall. The crowd went quiet, waiting for the news of Infernape's fate. When the dust settled, Infernape was standing there. Suddenly, the Pokémon was engulfed in flames and his eyes glowed a dark purple.

"This is it! Infernape, use Mach Punch!" Infernape raced forward at Mach speed and landed a direct hit to Hitmonlee's chest. The hit was devastating and resulted in an explosion. When the dust settled, both Pokémon where on the ground fainted. Hitmonlee fainted as soon as the attack hit and Infernape fainted from recoil damage. The crowd screamed in joy as the referee announced that both Pokémon were down. 

"Trainers, choose your next Pokémon!"

"Hitmonchan, I choose you!" Bruna yelled as he released his next fighting Pokémon.

"Alright, Greninja It's time you make an appearance!" Ash reached to his belt and threw out his ninja frog Pokémon. He had got Greninja back a few years ago after another Pokémon took his place alongside Zygarde and it was just common sense to use him in the league. He was one of Ash's strongest Pokémon after all.

After Greninja finished materializing from the Pokéball, Ash gave his first order. "Greninja, use Water Shuriken!"

"Greninja!" The Pokémon cried as he jumped and formed the shuriken, throwing it at its target in the process.

"Dodge it Hitmonchan!" Bruno screamed. However, the Pokémon didn't have enough time to react and it hit him directly in the chest, sending him flying backward. Hitmonchan hit the ground hard and it almost took him out in one blow.

"Hitmonchan, use endure!" Bruno called out.

"Ohh no you don't! Not this time!" Ash yelled. "Greninja, use Aerial Ace!"

The ninja frog took off in the blink of an eye. As he approached Hitmonchan, a glowing dagger formed in Greninja's hand, and, when he got close enough, the Pokémon jumped up and uppercut Hitmonchan with the it. The hit was devastating and it sent Hitmonchan straight into the stadium's wall. When the dust settled, it was revealed that Hitmonchan was down and Bruno returned him.

"Hitmonchan is out, which means Ash Ketchum is up by one Pokémon! Bruno, you may choose your next!"

Bruno was furious. He wasn't even able to land one hit on Greninja with his last Pokémon. He didn't plan on letting that happen again. "Primeape, I need you!"

The ape Pokémon materialized and immediately took a fighting stance. Bruno took the chance to get off the first attack. "Primeape, use Thunder Punch!"

"Dodge it!" Ash cried out, yet it was no use. Primeape was extremely quick and was able to get a direct hit with the attack and pummeled Greninja into the ground.

Greninja was able to get back up, but the attack was a super-effective hit and it took its toll on the frog. Ash tensed up at the close call and decided to take the battle to the next level.

"Let's give them everything we've got Greninja!" Suddenly, both Ash and Greninja started to glow. It went on for a few seconds before it was revealed that Greninja had transformed into his Ash-Greninja form. The crowd roared when they saw this.

"Let's finish this! Greninja, use Double Team to get close!" Greninja started to dash toward Primeape and split into 8 copies.

"Primeape, use Outrage and destroy them all!" Bruno yelled. 

Suddenly, Primeapes eyes glowed purple and he screamed. He shot forward and proceeded to rip the copies to shred. However, somehow the real Greninja evaded him. Primeape looked all around him trying to catch a glimpse of the ninja, but failed to do so. Bruno stared at Ash for some kind of sign that Greninja was about to attack, but couldn't tell. All of a sudden, Greninja landed behind Primeape and he had a massive Water Shuriken in his hands.

"PRIMEAPE, LOOK OUT!!!"

The ape Pokémon looked behind him, only to see a shuriken coming straight at him. It hit Primeape with a critical and sent him flying backward, fainting him in the process. Bruno growled as he returned Primeape and, before the referee could announce it, he threw out his next Pokémon.

"Machamp, It's time to put this sap out of his misery!" The four-armed Pokémon was massive. Much bigger than any Machamp Ash had ever seen. It scared him... but he'd seen worse.

"Greninja, return!" Ash pulled out his Pokéball and the Pokémon vanished in bright red light.

"You ready Pikachu?" Ash called down to his trusty electric mouse Pokémon.

Pikachu nodded and made his way out to the arena. He took his stance and the battle was ready to commence. 

"Pikachu, hit him with a Thunderbolt!" Pikachu rushed forward, jumped into the air, and clenched his fists.

"PIKA... CHUUUUUUUUUU!" Pikachu screamed as he unleashed the thunderbolt. It was a direct critical hit and it was apparent that it had hurt the Machamp. He fell to his knees from the intensity of the bolt of lightning, but he got right back up.

"Pikachu, use Quick Attack to get close!" Ash yelled to his electric rodent.

"Pika, pika, pika, pika, pika, pika, pika, pika!" Pikachu huffed as he built up speed. He managed to build up enough speed to become nothing but a blur. Once he got close enough, Ash gave his next order. "Use Iron Tail Pikachu!"

The Pokémon jumped up and prepared for the attack, but he wasn't expecting what was about to happen next.

"Machamp, use Mega Punch!"

"Maaaaa... CHAMP!!!" Despite how fast Pikachu was going, the Machamp hit him with a direct hit and pummeled Pikachu into the ground. The hit was so hard that it one-shot Pikachu and he fainted as soon as he hit the ground.

The audience gasped at the sight. They had never seen Pikachu go down that easily before. Ash was speechless.

"PIKACHU!!!" Ash screamed as he rushed out to make sure he was okay. Misty was watching the battle with the rest of Ash's friends and family on the sideline and she jumped the barricade in order to make sure her Pika-pal was okay.

Ash scooped Pikachu into his arms and pet him. Misty rushed up to him and handed Ash a max revive. "Here, use this!" She exclaimed.

Ash sprayed him with the revive like Misty had directed him to and the Pikachu perked up almost immediately. Ash stood up and looked to the audience. "HES OKAY!!!" He screamed. The audience cheered and applauded Pikachus for his efforts and the battle could continue. Before he did, however, he walked up to Misty and hugged her.

"Thank you for that." Ash whispered into her ear.

"Hey, He's my Pika-pal. I felt obligated to that for him." She pulled away and Ash saw her glare at Bruno. "Kick his ass for me will you?"

"I'll certainly try." Ash chuckled before bringing her into a quick kiss. She hurried back to her seat and Ash returned to his side of the arena.

'So that Machamp is much faster than I expected he would be.' Ash thought'. 'Looks like I'm just going to have be even faster.' 

He reached to his belt and threw out Greninja's ball. He was already weak from the last fight, so it was risky, but Geninja was twice as fast as Pikachu. If he played his cards right then he could beat it. 

"Do you think you have another one in you Greninja?" Greninja turned around and simply nodded at Ash. They couldn't evolve into Greninja's other form because the Pokémon was too exhausted, however, Ash had something else up his sleeve.

"Machamp, use Rock Throw!" Bruno called to his Pokémon.

Machamp reached over and picked up the nearest boulder. He lifted it up and prepared to throw it. When he looked back, however, Greninja was gone.

'Where the hell did it go?' Bruno thought frantically.

Suddenly, Greninja fell from above and landed on Machamps back. Machamp tried to gab at the frog but it was no use.

"Greninja, use Aerial Ace!" The same dagger from before formed in Greninja's hand and he started to stab and slash at Machamp's back. He screamed in pain and desperately tried to get him off. He eventually had enough of it and jumped up, landing on his back. Greninja was able to get off of him before he did this and awaited Ash's next command.

"Greninja, use Water Shuriken!"

Greninja formed the shuriken and threw it at Machamp. The Pokémon scurried to his feet but didn't have enough time to get out of the way. The shuriken hit Machamp in the head and caused him to collapse to the ground. He tried to get back up, but fell back down and fainted due to being too weak.

"ARGHHHHHH!!!" Bruno yelled. 

"I don't think he liked that too much." Misty stated as she elbowed Brock in the arm. She stood up and began to cheer for Ash. "YEAH ASH!!! KICK HIS ASS!!! KICK IT FOR PIKACHU!!!" Brock couldn't do anything, but stare at Misty. How a person could be so loud was beyond him, but he decided to join in on the cheering, and, soon enough, the entire stadium was chanting for Ash to win.

"Poliwrath, do your job!" Bruno yelled as he threw out his next Pokémon.

Greninja edged forward but stopped in his tracks. The entire stadium went quiet. Greninja's knees began to buckle and sure enough he collapsed to the ground. The exhaustion from the 3 previous battles had finally gotten to him and he couldn't go on.

"Good job Greninja. You deserve a good rest." Ash returned Greninja and then called out his next Pokémon. "Might as well have the type advantage here! Sceptile, come on out!"

"Let the battle..." Before the referee could finish, Bruno was already naming off his first attack.

"Poliwrath, use dig!" The Pokémon did as it was told and dug underground.

"You know what to do Sceptile!" Ash reminded him.

The two waited for the moment to strike. Every second that went by was a grueling one. If they didn't get this right then it could cost them the round.

"Wait for it." Ash whispered.

"Poliwrath, come up and use Brick Break!" The Pokémon shot out of the ground and gave Ash the chance to turn this battle in his favor.

"Sceptile, use Leaf Storm NOW!!!" Sceptile summoned a cloud of leaves and sent them careening into Poliwrath. The damage was great and it almost knocked Poliwrath out in one blow. The Pokémon, just like the Machamp, was much stronger than any usual Pokémon of its kind and it got back up.

"Poliwrath, use Seismic Toss!" The Pokémon rushed forward to get ahold of Sceptile in order to unleash its devastating attack upon it.

"Ohh no you don't!" Ash exclaimed. "Sceptile, block him with Leaf Blade!"

Sceptile used its blades and slashed Poliwrath down. "Now finish this with Brick Break!"

"Dodge it Poliwrath!" Bruno yelled, but Poliwrath didn't hear him in time.

Sceptile jumped into the air and smashed into Poliwrath. The hit caused dust to fly off the ground and surround the two Pokémon. When it finally settled, it revealed that Poliwrath was on the ground unconscious and Sceptile was standing over him panting.

"THAT'S IT!!!" Bruno screamed. "Lucario, show him that he doesn't belong in the big leagues!"

Lucario formed from the Pokéball that Bruno threw out and took a battle stance. Ash smirked and returned Sceptile. "What are you smirking about boy?"

"Just the fact that I was prepared for this." Ash threw out Charizard and he roared as loudly as possible. Lucario backed up and growled at the dragon in front of him. Bruno only laughed. "I don't think you were prepared for this though. Lucario, It's time!"

Bruno reached up and touched the mega stone on his headband. Lucario was surrounded by bright lights and when they finally subsided it revealed that Lucario had evolved into his Mega Evolution.

Ash looked over to Misty and noticed the worried expression on her face. Ash grinned at her and looked back at Bruno. "Ohh no you're mistaken. I am prepared for this." Ash rolled up his sleeves and revealed the mega stone on the bracelet attached to his wrist. The audience gasped at this and broke out into a cheer.

"Charizard, Let's take the next step! Let's finish this!" Ash turned his hat backward and touched the mega stone. Charizard was instantly surrounded by bright lights and when they subsided it revealed that he had mega evolved into his Y variant. 

Bruno gasped at the sight. He didn't expect Ash to be able to Mega Evolve. If he wasn't worried before then he was now. Misty's eyes shot open wide. She then jumped up and cheered for Ash. Like before. It spread throughout the audience like wildfire and, eventually, the entire stadium was screaming for Ash.

"Ash has three Pokémon left, while Bruno has one!" The referee called out. "Let the battle... COMMENCE!"

"Lucario, start this out with Aura Sphere!"

Lucario pulled his hands back and formed a bright blue sphere in his hands. "AGHHHH!!!" Lucario screamed as he realized the ball of pure energy toward Charizard.

"Charizard, block it with Dragon Claw!" Ash commanded the dragon. Charizard brought his hands down and his claws glowed a bright green color as they became larger. He rushed toward the ball with Dragon Rush and slashed at the sphere, dispersing the energy across the battlefield. Lucario braced itself and was then hit full force by Charizard's Dragon Rush attack. He slid back about 20 feet and came to a stop.

"Lucario, use High Jump Kick!" Lucario rushed forward in a burst of speed and jumped into the air in an attempt to hit Charizard with his attack. 

Suddenly, the entire stadium was silent. Charizard had grabbed Lucario by the leg before the Pokémon could hit him and was holding him in place. Lucario was trying desperately to get away, but it was no use. Charizard had too strong of a grip on him.

"Charizard, fly him into the air and use Seismic Toss!" Charizard looked down at Lucario who was staring at him with a pleading expression. Charizard only smirked at him as he opened up his wings. He then shot into the air in a blaze of speed and, once he got high enough, he threw Lucario at the ground as hard as he possibly could.

What Charizard wasn't accounting for was Lucario correcting himself mid-air and sending an Aura Sphere toward him. It hit Charizard and the explosion sent him careening toward the ground. 

The two Pokemon hit the ground full force and struggled to get back up. "Come on Charizard! YOU CAN DO IT!!!" Misty screamed from the sidelines. Charizard heard Misty and winked at her.

"Lucario, use Stone Edge!" Bruno cried.

"Charizard, dodge it by flying into the air!" Ash screamed in response.

Charizard opened up its wings and took off right as Lucario hit the ground, sending sharp-edged stones shooting out of the ground.

"Now use Flamethrower!" Ash called to Charizard.

Charizard began to build up the attacl in his throat as he started his descent to light his target in a blaze of relentless and unforgiving fire. "Lucario, use your bone staff and blow the flames back their way!"

Lucario pulled his arm up to his chest and slung it back down. When he did so, a staff formed in his hands. He began spinning as fast as he could and when the flames came his way, they were blown back toward Charizard.

"Charizard, dodge it!" The dragon pulled back up before he could be brought down by his own fire. "Now land and use Dragon Claw!"

Charizard hit the ground, causing dust to surrounding him. Suddenly, he burst through them and brought his claws down to his sides as he rushed toward Lucario.

"Lucario, use Bone Rush!" Lucario took the staff he formed earlier and ran at full speed toward Charizard. The two hit full force and were hitting and blocking each other in a grueling          close-quarters match up.

"Lucario, use Close Combat!" Bruno called out to his Pokémon.

Lucario backed up for a second and threw the staff down. He jumped up and down a few times before rushing at Charizard full speed and unleashing his fast and devastating attack. Charizard was getting pelted back to back to back with punches and kicks and it looked like Lucario was about to win. Then Ash had an idea.

"Charizard, use Flare Blitz and put him into the wall!"

Charizard heard his master through the assault he was receiving and spontaneously combusted. The heat was so great that it left Lucario with a burn before he could back away from the flames. He did a backflip and landed about 5 feet away from Charizard.

"JUMP OUT OF THE WAY LUCARIO!!!" Bruno screamed as loud as he possibly could. However, it was too late and the battle was decided in a split second.

Charizard shot forward in a blaze of speed and rammed into Lucario. The intensity of the heat was enough to do Lucario in, but, just to make sure, Charizard threw him full force into the stadium's wall. Lucario hit the wall hard enough to make it collapse into a cloud of dust. Once the dust settled, Lucario stumbled out of the rubble holding his left arm. He was shaking and sweating profusely. Then he inevitably fell to his knees and transformed back to his normal form. He admitted defeat, but he refused to show weakness.

Lucario forced himself to get back up and limped back to his trainer. Bruno walked up to him and rubbed his back. "You did really well Lucario. Get some rest now." Lucario returned to his Pokéball and the referee announced what the audience already knew.

"Lucario is unable to battle! The winner is Ash Ketchum and his Charizard!" In his normal show of dominance, Charizard roared and shot a flamethrower into that air as he transformed back to his normal form.

The crowd erupted into a fit of yells and cheers. Ash walked up to Bruno and shook his hand.

"Good job Ash." Bruno congratulated him. "You earned this victory fair and square. I underestimated you kid. I can't wait to watch your other battles."

"Thank you. I really appreciate that." Ash had done it. He beat Bruno and was even closer to becoming Pokémon Master than he ever thought he would.

Ash looked toward Misty and smiled at her. Misty saw this and smiled back and blew him a kiss. Though this was a great victory on Ash's part, it was only the beginning. The end was still out of sight and he's going to need to fight even harder if he wants to stay on top.
