NO MEANS NO!

"Misty, I'm not going to continue this discussion with you!" Ash stated harshly as he made his way into his suite. Somehow, despite Misty and Ash being in good moods after leaving the hospital, they found themselves getting into a fight in the car and it has lasted all the way back to the hotel.

"You don't get to make that decision! I do! You just got out of the Hospital Ash!" Misty walked in behind him and slammed the door shut. The two stared at each other with fury in their eyes as Ash continued on the argument he clearly didn't want to have.

"So? The doctor said that I was fit for duty! Why is it so bad that I'm taking that assessment and using it?" Ash questioned Misty. He turned toward the kitchen and made his way to the liquor cabinet.

"Screw the doctor! I said that you can't battle and that's final!"

Ash quickly turned around with the whiskey bottle in hand and slammed it down on the countertop. "That's not up to you! It's my battle and my choice! Besides, I already called down there and they have my battle planned for tomorrow." Ash lowered his voice and tried to settle the argument, but this only made things worse.

"YOU DID WHAT!" Misty screamed. "I TOLD YOU NO! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO GO BEHIND MY BACK LIKE THAT?"

"Misty calm..." Ash was immediately interrupted by Misty, which lit a fuse inside him.

"NO, I WILL NOT CALM DOWN! YOU JUST GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL AFTER EXPERIENCING SOMETHING THAT COULD HAVE EASILY KILLED YOU AND YOU WANT TO GET RIGHT BACK OUT THERE? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?"

"Nothing's wrong with..." He was interrupted once again by the fuming redhead in front of him. The fuse was getting shorter and he doesn't know how much longer he can hold out for.

"SOMETHING IS OR ELSE YOU WOULD KNOW BETTER!" Misty huffed. "WHY DO I HAVE TO BE THE MATURE AND SENSIBLE ONE IN THIS RELATIONSHIP!"

That was it. That was all it took for Ash to finally go over the edge. "More like the bitch in this relationship."

Misty gasped at this. "What did you just call me?"

"YOU FUCKING HEARD ME!" Ash screamed. "EVER SINCE WE GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL, YOU HAVE BEEN ON MY ASS ABOUT ME GETTING BACK OUT THERE! WHY IS THIS BOTHERING YOU SO BADLY!"

Misty turned around to prevent herself from slapping him. Once she calmed down enough, she slowly turned back around and glared at Ash. "Ash, you are such a fucking idiot..." She paused for a second before continuing. "I. Could. Have. Lost. You. Do I have to spell it out?"

"Misty, quit using that lame-ass excuse. Yes you could have lost me, but you could have many times before as well. Hell, I have actually died before! But you know what they all have in common? You were the one that picked me up, dusted me off, and encouraged me to keep going no matter what. What makes this moment so much different?"

Misty looked down at the floor and thought for a second. Tears started to well up in her eyes and they eventually fell. She turned around and sniffled. "Ash, if you can't figure it out then you don't deserve to know."

She tried to leave, but Ash grabbed her arm and forced her to stay. "Answer the question Misty!"

"No Ash! I won't!" She tried to pull away, but Ash's grip on her wrist was too strong. "Ash, let me go!"

"No! Not until you tell me why!"

"LET ME GO!"

"NO!" Suddenly, Ash lost his grip and Misty fell to the floor.

Ash wasted no time to drop down to her side and see if she was okay. Even though fights like these were sometimes bad, they would never stop him from loving her and caring about her well being.

"Misty, I'm so sorry! Are you..."

Misty looked at Ash and screamed with tears in her eyes. "THE REASON WHY IT'S DIFFERENT THIS TIME IS BECAUSE I KNOW NOW WHAT I DIDN'T KNOW ALL THOSE YEARS AGO!"

Ash jumped at the sudden outburst but immediately settled back in. "And what might that be?" Ash asked calmly.

Misty looked into Ash's chocolate brown eyes and started to cry even harder. She jumped into Ash's arms and cried into his chest for a few minutes.

When the crying died down, Misty looked up and into Ash's eyes again. "I can't live without you."

Ash felt tears build up after she said this. He cupped the back of her head and pulled her in close. The two cried lightly in each other's arms for what seemed like a lifetime.

Once they both calmed down, Ash pulled away from Misty and looked into her Cerulean eyes. "Mist, you know that I would never leave you willingly right?"

This question caught Misty off guard. She took a second before answering. "I know Ash."

Ash sighed. "Then you know that I would never put myself through something like that if I didn't think for certain that I could make it through it."

"I know that Ash, but... seeing you in so much pain opened up a can of worms that I've tried desperately to keep buried as far down as possible and reminded me of all the times that I almost lost you. That time you died in Lavender Town. That time you got hit my Mewtwo and Mew's beams. That time you fell into the sea after getting hit out of the sky while riding Lugia. I was young and didn't know what love was exactly so it was easier to see you get right back into the fold. Now that I know what it is and have experienced it with the only person I ever want to... I don't want to lose it."

Ash looked into Misty's eyes. "Mist... I'm sorry for blowing up on you and I'm sorry for going behind your back as I did. I'll call the League tomorrow and..."

"You don't have to do that Ash. I'm sorry for trying to force you not to battle. I'll try to keep my emotions in check, but you have to promise me something."

Ash smiled warmingly at Misty. "Anything."

"The next time something like that happens then you bail. I'm not risking losing you ever again."

"I promise, but you have to promise me something in return."

"What is it?"

"Next time you feel this way about something then don't hide it from me. I want to know exactly what your feelings are on subjects like these at all times."

Misty smiled at Ash and brought him into a hug. "I promise."

They stayed silent for a while, just happy to be in each other's arms. When the moment had finally ended, They pulled away and gave each other a quick, yet warming and pleasurable kiss.

Misty got up and walked to the couch. She sat down and sank into the cushions. Ash came up behind her and placed his hands on her shoulders, lightly massaging them.

"Just think about it Mist. Two more fights and you won't have to worry ever again."

Misty reached up and placed one of her hands on Ash's. She then looked over her shoulder and smiled. "I can't wait."

Ash stopped massaging her and jumped over the back of the couch, sitting down beside her. He then wrapped his arm around her and let out a yawn. "I can't believe I'm already tired."

"Yeah, you slept about nighty percent of the time at the hospital." Misty giggled as she looked at the clock. She then looked back at Ash and yawned as well. "Maybe we should both get in the bed. We have a big day tomorrow."

Ash looked at Misty with a puzzled look. "What do you have planned tomorrow?"

Misty immediately tensed up at the question. "I-I don't have anything planned per se. It's just the fact that tomorrow is such an important day for you."

"Yeah, if I can beat this new challenger then I can finally have my shot at the Master title. I have looked forward to this moment for my entire life and..." Ash looked over at Misty and rubbed the ring on her hand. "Just the chance to make it is good enough for me."

Misty smiled and snuggled into Ash. She stayed there for a while before getting up. "Where are you going?" Ash asked.

"I'm going back to where I've been staying and getting some rest for tomorrow and I advise you to do the same." Misty started to walk away.

Ash got off the couch and rushed to Misty's side. "Why don't you stay here for..."

"Absolutely not! I will not risk you being late to another battle like you were for Lance's!" Misty pecked Ash on the check. "Besides, I hear this new member of the Elite 4 is something else. You're going to need all the sleep you can get if you want to beat her."

"Wait, you know about her too? Why does everyone know except me?" Ash chuckled as he walked Misty to the door.

Ash opened it for Misty and she walked outside. Ash stopped her and looked into her eyes. "I'm sorry again about the fight."

"I'm sorry too." Misty smiled lightly at Ash before pulling him into a kiss.

"I love you Ash." Misty whispered.

"I love you too Mist." Ash whispered back.

Misty turned around started for the elevator. Ash stopped her and gave her a toothy grin. "I can't live without you either."

Misty smiled and gave him one last bear hug before she made her way to the elevator and pressed the button. She turned around and looked at Ash once more.

"Get some sleep Ash. I mean it." She grinned as the elevator doors opened.

"I will. Good night."

"Good night and good luck for tomorrow. Your gonna need it." Misty gave Ash a cheeky smirk before the elevator doors shut, taking her down to the hotel lobby.

"What the Hell does she mean by that?" Ash asked himself. He decided to drop it and made his way back inside to get some rest for his next battle tomorrow.

And that's all folks! In this chapter, I wanted to capture the side of a person's relationship that most people want to stay away from. I think that fighting is a great way to show people how much they love one another, and before you say anything just hear me out. If you love someone, get into a major fight with them like Ash and Misty did, and come out of it loving them just as much or even more than you did going into it then that just shows how pure your love really is. Fighting is inevitable, but if your love can prevail over that then your love is true. I hope ya'll enjoyed it and I'll talk to ya'll in the next one. Peace!
