Chapter 7: A tough choice
By the next day, Jungkook was at home, waiting for his afternoon classes as he layed on the couch. Thinking of what to do on Friday night. The younger held the crystal in his hands while the silver chain was still dangling from his neck, he held the gem and remembered Jimin giving it a soft kiss before placing it on the table. Just thinking about it made Jungkook blush.
"How much does this mean to him?" Jungkook thought as he chuckled, still gazing at it with such a big smile. "He looked calm when he gave it to me. So if it meant the world to him, he would have killed me. What if he wanted me to have it?!" Jungkook thought as he looked at the necklace. "T-That's why he told me to try and win it!" Jungkook thought.
Only then the younger laughed it off. "Who am I kidding? He had no choice to give it up to me... Ah, I just hope I can win on Friday and somewhat let him win so he can keep one of my watches." Jungkook said, letting out a sigh. "Might aswell pick out which I will 'give'." The younger then got up, walking to his room when suddenly, his phone chimed.
Jungkook checked the notification to see that Hoseok finally got a job for Jungkook and just needed the younger to get interviewed for the job. Jungkook smiled and decided to call his friend as he made it upstairs to pick out the watch he will use on Friday so Jimin can win it.
"Hello?" Hoseok answered as Jungkook held the phone up to his ear.
"Hey, Hoseok so did you really get me a job?"
"Yes! It's in a restaurant. You just need to get interviewed on Friday in the afternoon. Don't worry, you'll still have time to head off to the club." Hoseok chuckled through the phone.
"Thank goodness you found me a job! I'm so grateful." Jungkook replied happily, pulling his cabinet open and picking up a grey monochrome watch. "Do you think Jimin will love watches?"
"Jungkook, I hate to burst your bubble.... But I don't know Jimin." Hoseok claimed, listening to the younger let out a laugh.
"Oh, I almost forgot about that, sorry." Jungkook chuckled picking up a nice black watch. "I'll give him my favorite watch. Ah, I'm just happy I finally have a shot at a job so I can tell Mother I'll be working, but in reality I'll be out gambling at night. Do you think I should tell her I take two shifts a day?"
"Jungkook!" Shouted the Mother from behind the boy as the younger flinched. Not realizing his Mother got home.
"I'll call you later." Jungkook quickly responded to Hoseok and hanged up the phone as he quickly turned around to face his Mother who was holding the house keys in her hands. Showing that she just arrived recently. "H-Hello, Mother!"
"Jeon Jungkook, we made a deal!" Mrs. Jeon claimed, but Jungkook smiled nervously. "You are literally willing to go gambling behind my back... When will you have enough?! This is bad for you!"
"Why can't you just let me do it then and let me learn for myself! Mother, it's just a game..." Jungkook responded, trying to calm his tone down.
"Because you know what happens to people who gamble, they get addicted, they meet troublemakers and end up getting killed from a round! Or even worst! Jungkook, you should know this by now... I know times are tough but please... Do it for me. If you end up gambling one night, don't even bother giving me the earnings. Because I want NOTHING to do with this stupid game!" Mrs. Jeon stated. The woman was afraid of losing her son.... almost as if she spoke with experience and of course, Jungkook was well aware of it.
"Can't you trust me to stay safe? Mother it's just a game. There are no sore losers! The only reason why a player would beat up the other is when there is cheating involved. Mother, I know those wons helped you today and helped you in your debt, but please! I really need to go atleast one more time!" Jungkook begged the Mother but even he knew that he was going to get nothing but silence afterwards.
"Jungkook! You know exactly what happened... Don't act like you don't know the reason why I hate this gambling thing." Mrs. Jeon hissed. Making Jungkook stop complaining as he gazed at a picture of his father, hanged up in a frame on the hallway walls outside. "It's been too many years, Jungkook... Too many years and seeing you follow that path will ruin me! So, since you're an adult... I'll let you do what you please... What ever you want. Only because I believe your Father and I raised you well."
The woman paid attention to Jungkook's gaze that locked on the picture of his Father. "But Mother... You know I'm not good at anything els-"
"Not good at anything else?! Jungkook! You're smart, kind, creative and very outgoing. You are good at anything you set your mind to. Please use that to the best of your ability. You are too young to be doing those illegal things." Mrs. Jeon continued and held her son's hands with her's. "Listen to me, Jungkook because I'm not going to repeat myself.... If you ever decide to run off and gamble at night behind my back, I will not accept any money from you. Even if I need it... I won't accept it. If you continue, I'll just be... Too busy to speak to you.."
Jungkook understood what the Mother meant. Mrs. Jeon was willing to ignore her own son until he realized what wrong he was doing. "Yes, Mother..." Jungkook whispered in response while he gazed down at the ground and watched his Mother pull her hand away from his and leave the room. Jungkook didn't know what to do now but just stand there. Holding the watch he longed to give Jimin.
Jungkook had no plans to give up his chances in taking on the older man in the club. Jungkook felt like his world would crumble if he doesn't ever make his way to see Jimin on Friday. "Great... Now I can already imagine Jimin making fun of me infront of the other gamblers.... Ugh, I can't turn him down! I need to go see him. I know Mother will ignore me, but she can't keep it up forever. I-It's just this round.... This one round and I can stop right after." Jungkook said as he started to feel glum just thinking about leaving the addicting game forever and most importantly, Leaving Park Jimin forever.
"Friday... That will be my last day gambling and my last game at that club." Jungkook sighed, walking over to his bed to sit down and hold the gem of the necklace. "Then... That'll be the last day I see you. Park Jimin, I only had one purpose and that was to beat you on the game. But once I did, I look at this necklace and I suddenly feel so excited to see you again..." Jungkook whispered to himself. Looking at the gleam of the crystal.
Jungkook sighed as he kept staring at the necklace and at the expensive watch. "Even if it hurts, I'll be there. It's only reasonable since it is my last game... And the last time I'll see you."
