Chapter 17: Never far

Very soon, the car arrived to Jungkook's house. The younger can already hear his Mother complain or even beg him to stay yet, Jungkook knew he would never come back now. The younger turned to Jimin who was looking out the window and gazing up at Jungkook's house with a smile.

"Such a beautiful house..." Jimin complimented while he turned his head towards the younger. "Aren't you going in? You can't wait in here forever.."

"I-I am... Just give me a moment.." Jungkook said. The boy took a glance at the house again, already fearing his Mother's words. "I-I can do this.." Jungkook whispered to himself. Gathering the courage to finally get up and see his Mother for the last time. Planning to tell her all the things Jimin advised him to say.

So far, Jimin has become very trustworthy and Jungkook actually felt at ease around him for some odd reason. After all this time of calling him nothing but a competitor, Jungkook felt as if Jimin suddenly became close like a caring and respectful friend. Jimin wasn't like any other pervert who would touch Jungkook against his own will in the older boy's own penthouse. This showed Jungkook that Jimin was a really kindhearted guy on the inside.

"You can do it... I'll wait here for you." Jimin added as Jungkook smiled and got out of the car. Still holding the necklace Jimin would always wear. Jungkook paced forward, towards the porch as he took out an extra key he had of the house and unlocked the door. Going inside to see nothing but just the kitchen light turned on and the microwave reheating something.

The young boy gazed around as he walked upstairs, from the stairs he can see Jimin's car from the outside. Only then, Hoseok stepped out of Jungkook's room to see his friend standing by the stairs. Hoseok's eyes widened as he walked up to Jungkook as if he hasn't seen him in years.

"Jungkook! You're here! Your Mother was worried sick! I came to watch over her after she called me around four in the morning saying you weren't here... But she has been doing alright! Where were you? We were worried sick!" Hoseok asked repeatedly as Jungkook exhaled in relief. Glad he didn't have to confront his Mother first.

"Doesn't matter where I was.... Where is my Mother?" Jungkook questioned his friend while Hoseok kept his stare at Jungkook.

"She's out in the backyard.... But, back to the conversation at hand. Where were you? Tell me..."

"I'll text you all about it later. Right now, I'm moving." Jungkook added as he walked into his room, bringing out his luggage and started to stuff in any clothes and extra wons he had in his cabinets and closet. Hoseok watched Jungkook pack up in a hurry and can only imagine his friend telling him not to advise Mrs. Jeon about it but Hoseok still couldn't let Jungkook go without warning the worried Mother.

Hoseok slowly walked away as Jungkook was turning his room upside down just to get each and every clothes that was in the cabinets. "Hoseok, I'll be gone for a long time... The only time you would see me is at campus, okay? I'll be off working far." Jungkook said. Unaware that he was holding a one-sided conversation on his own as his friend was off to tell Mrs. Jeon.

Jungkook managed to get his clothes into two luggages. The younger then gathered his laptop, tablet, watch, colognes and towels as he suddenly heard footsteps come up the stairs. Almost as if he could hear Hoseok talking to someone. Jungkook set his luggages on the bed as he gazed up to finally see his Mother standing there, back against the doorway with a small tear escaping her brown eyes. Mrs. Jeon was wearing a white apron over one of her buisness dress shirts and black pencil skirt. With her hair always tied up into a bun and her wearing the fish net leggings and white indoor house shoes. Almost as if she was ready to head out to work.

"So it's true..? Leaving the nest already..?" Mrs. Jeon whispered already wanting to break into tears with her shaky voice as Hoseok went downstairs to sit on the couches and wait. "I can just remember when you were just a little boy... Wanting to grow up so fast and leave this house. I just never knew my son would be leaving today.." Mrs. Jeon added. "You're leaving forever now... You don't need my guidance anymore, huh?"

Jungkook blinked and looked down at his luggages, already feeling the pain of his Mother's tears. Repeatedly beat against him like a knock on a wooden door. "Mother... This is what you wanted. If I was to go out and gamble again, you would never speak to me again. Aren't you proud you wouldn't have to see me everyday now?"

"Jungkook..." The Mother said while Jungkook can hear his own Mother break down into tears. "I never meant it like that. I always wanted to keep you safe.... Please don't go! We can fix this together... I don't want you to hate me..."

"Mother, I don't hate you. I would never hate you. Ah, I found a new place to work. The job at the restaurant and I just got a new opportunity to live with a nice friend. He also attends college and wants to help me out. I'll be working and too busy in college, so I'll send you money! Just the way you wanted me to be..." Jungkook claimed making a smile as his Mother cupped her mouth and closed her eyes in tears.

"I'm sorry for everything I said.... Please stay.." Mrs. Jeon pleaded walking up to the younger to hug him. "If I can take back everything I said... I would."

"It's okay! Really! Mother, I am doing this for you... Okay? I accept your apology... I will text you and call you everyday! We can video call eachother too! Mother, I'm sorry for having to leave... But this will help you with your debts. Soon it'll all be over and we can be at peace from it all okay. I will visit you too!" Jungkook tried his best to make everything up to his Mother as he hugged her tightly. "I'm not gone... I'll just be a bit far. Okay?"

"I-I.... understand." Mrs. Jeon said with a nod. Drying her tears and hugging her son tightly.  "Don't forget to call... Okay? Text me if anything happens.. If you need clothes.. Home cooked meals... Anything! Please tell me."

"Ah, okay Mother. I'll be leaving now. Take care okay? I'll tell Hoseok to check up on you time to time."

"That won't be necessary.. He's willing to live here and make sure I'm alright. Thank you." Mrs. Jeon smiled and pulled away from the hug to see Jungkook zip up his luggages and drag them by the handle. Waving at his Mother with a tear rolling down his eyes. Jungkook then reached downstairs, bumping fists with Hoseok and smiling afterwards.

"Take care of my Mother, please. I'll text you and I'll call you too. See you in campus." Jungkook said as Hoseok laughed.

"I see you everyday. Get out of here." Hoseok joked while Jungkook walked out of his house with the luggages while the two watched him leave. Very soon, Jungkook placed in his luggages to the back of the car and got inside the car to drive off. The young boy quickly closed the door behind him and gazed at Jimin who was laying his head down on his side of the door.

"How did it go?" Jimin wondered with a smile, still wearing his shades to cover his beautiful yet drunk eyes.

"It was perfect! Thank you." Jungkook said happily as he hugged Jimin tightly, not caring about the scent of alcohol that filled his nose from it.

"Woah, woah... For what?" Jimin asked, fixing his shades again, hearing the younger giggle happily.

"You gave me enough confidence to confront my Mother when I didn't have it in me..." Jungkook whispered to Jimin as his head hanged from the older man's shoulder.

Jungkook didn't care about the scent of champagne and still hugged Jimin to thank him for giving him enough confidence to walk in the house and talk to Mrs. Jeon with such confidence. No longer fearing his Mother's words from now on knowing he had her support now.
