Chapter Twelve: Y/n's date with Milo

Oh my gosh, it's happening! Everybody stay calm! EVERYBODY STAY FUCKIN' CALM!
*********
Your mom kept stalling and you guys finally had your pokemon battle at 4:00 pm.

Spending time with your mom was great! But you didn't want to be late for your date.

Your pokemon battle ran until 4:45, yup it took a whole 45 minutes.

After you defeated her with Giganticmax Avalugg, you practically ran to her to collect the badge.

"Thanks Mom, now I really need to go" you said already walking away.

"Y/n L/n, come back here!" She ordered.

"Mom, not now" you said but she pulled you to her, and with the wave of her hand, one of the staff members came running with a white box.

"I had these custom made, also as a conciliation prize" she said handing you the box, "but I guess it's just a 'you won' prize now"

You really didn't have time for this, so you opened the lid and inside there were a pair of ice skates, neatly placed on top of white tissue paper.

"Wow, mom, these are beautiful!" You said, putting the lid back on.

"Put then on, silly, let's do some rounds!" She laughed.

"Oh, mom, I-I can't" you said, "I have a date"

She gasped, "a date? With who?"

"Mom, my date is at 5"

She looked at her clock, "then you should get going if you don't want to be late!"

"That's what I've been-- ugh, nevermind" you said tucking the box under your arm and breaking out into a run, "bye Mom!"

She waved, "tell me all about it when you get back!"

You rolled your eyes and looked at the time, "4:50!"

You ran as fast as you could, thankfully the way to the pokemon center was downhill.

"Excuse me!"

"Sorry!"

You shouted as you bumped into people, you were almost there, you could see the red roofed building and Milo standing next to it, glancing down at his phone then looking around.

"Milo!" You called out.

He turned around and a smile appeared in his face as soon as he saw you.

You stopped running and caught your breath, "hey!" you leaned against the wall, "just give me a minute?" You let out a laugh at the madness of running to your date, "I'm sorry, my mom, she--"

"It's ok!" He said, "how did your battle go?"

Now you fully caught your breath and stepped away from the wall holding up the ice badge.

"Wow! Congratulations!" He said.

As you put the badge in it place(on Milo's bandana around you bag) you noticed that you were still in your gym leader outfit, your hair was a mess from running. You flattened your hair with your spare hand.

Milo seemed to notice your outfit too because his cheeks tinted red and looked everywhere else but you, "that outfit looks really good on you-- I-I mean you looks really cute-- I-I mean--" he looked at the sunflower he held, "agh! this is for you!"

You blushed and giggled, accepting the flower. It seemed to glow against all the white snow, "thank you, it's beautiful!"

"I-I like what you did with your hair" he hid his blush with his scarf.

"Thanks" you said, "I like your outfit, you look warm" 'way to go,' you thought sarcastically, 'what kind of comment was that?'

Your body shivered as you realized how cold it was this evening. Yeah you could handle the cold but up to a certain temperature.

"Uh-uh, here! Take my jacket!" He took it off leaving him in his black button shirt.

"It's fine, Milo you shouldn't have" you said as he placed the large and heavy flannel jacket on your shoulders, it dropped down past your knees.

"No really, I have my scarf and hat!" He said, "s-should we get going?"

You nodded and followed him to a nearby restaurant.

It was fancy but not too fancy. You guys enjoyed your dinner and the initial awkwardness faded into a more relaxed and comfortable one.

You found out that Milo has a younger brother, and that the tiny wooloo, you had grown to love, escaped from the pen at least twice a week.

"I think it's looking for you, Y/n" Milo said with an adorable smile.

You giggled, "aw, I think it's about time I payed him a visit"

"Yeah, you're welcome over any time!" Milo said.

Milo payed for the meal, but the night wasn't over.

The city was illuminated by the street lamps as you guys exited the restaurant.

"Have you seen the frozen Hero's Bath?" Milo asked as he started walking towards that direction.

You blushed, "yeah, that was sorta of my mom"

"Huh?" Milo blinked.

"My mom had the Hero's Bath frozen into an ice rink" you said, "she thought I was going to loose our battle"

"It makes a nice ice rink though... you wanna skate?" He asked.

"Yes!" Then you giggled, "my mom even got me a pair of ice skates"

Actually now that you think about, Milo was also carrying a box.

"Your mom didn't believe your could beat her?" Milo asked.

"She... she's always been like that" you said.

"Like what?" Milo asked.

"Well, she's a bit of a narcissist,  she wants things done her way," you shugged.

"Must have been hard growing up" Milo said.

"Yes, and no" you said, "I got used to it over time, not to mention living with my dad, he's more...strict, not easily impressed"

You noticed you were making Milo nervous, "but I mean, I've been thinking about it lately"

"About what?" Milo asked.

"What I want to do" you said, "if I truly just want to be gym leader for the rest of my life."

Then up ahead you guys saw the ice rink. It was beautifully lighten up with fairy lights, it almost looked magical. There were many people on it, many families and little kids. They were so cute trying to skate.

"Wow it looks so pretty" you said as you sat at a bench and took off Milo's jacket to bend down and put on the new skates your mom had gotten you.

Milo sat next to you and took out a pair of skates of his own. They were a brown, almost the same as the boots he wore.

"Um, Y/n?" He laughed nervously.

"Yes?" You looked at him while tying your laces and taking the blade guard off.

"You think" he hesitated, "you think you can teach me how to skate... we don't have ice rinks in Truffield and I've only 'skated' once" he smiled shyly, "I was 8 and I fell... and cried" he laughed at his own embarrassing story.

You giggled, "of course I'll teach you!" You pushed yourself off the bench and easily stood on the ice, "once when I was 10, I forgot to take the guard off and when I got on the ice, I fell" you laughed and Milo joined you

That made Milo feel better about skating.

"So take the guard off first, just be careful you don't cut yourself, they are blades after all and our super sharp" you said and he did as told, "now you need to find your balance, now this might take us a while"

Milo nodded with determination.

You helped him up, holding his hand so he wouldn't fall over.

He wobbled a bit and held your hand tighter, you felt your face heat up

You held his arm, "ok, so you want to keep your skates shoulder width apart and your knees like this" you showed him how.

He mimicked your action.

"Great!" You said, "yes, ok, now make sure to keep your knees slightly bent, and your chest up, shoulders parallel to the ice,"

Milo looked over whelmed by the instructions, you helped him get into the right position while explaining, "I know it's a lot, but this is just so that you keep your weight centered over your skates" you made sure to add in, "make sure not to lean too far forward or too back" you demonstrated what would happen if you did, "too far forward, weight is on your toes, to far back, it's in your heels, make sure to stay centered"

You let go of his arm, but he kept his hand on yours, "see yours not slipping no more!"

You processed to teach him how to skate forward, and how to stop. There was nothing you did that he didn't slip on of course, but he got back up and kept trying.

Slowly, but surely, Milo soon learned how to skate.

"You're doing it Milo! You're skating!" You smiled really proud that your taught someone how to do one of you favorite activities.

"I am?" He said as he came back, "I skated?"

You giggled, "yes! your skating! You think we can go around the rink?"

"I don't think--"

"I'll be with you, right next to you" you blushed taking his hand.

You guys joined the crowd and skated around the rink a few times.

"OW"

Your head turned to see who was hurt. You saw the same girl as this morning, Alexa, on the floor.

You looked at Milo, "you mind if I go help?"

"No, of course not!" He smiled letting go of your hand.

You skated over and stopped right in front of her.

"Hey" you stuck your hand out, "need a hand?"

She looked up at you and her eyes light up, "hey!" She smiled widely taking your hand, "I was trying out your tip."

"Yeah, come on I'll help you practice" you said helping her land until she got it right 5 times in a row.

"Wow! Thank you so much!" She said giving you a hug, "you really think I can be champion in day?"

"Of course! You just need to keep practicing, that's the key!" You said soothing her head.

She let go and waved goodbye at you, you did a little twirl and skated to Milo, on the bench.

"Sorry, she was with my mom this morning" you said taking a seat pulling the jacket back on.

The rink was slowly starting to empty out.

"It's ok," he said, "you seem to enjoy teaching people how to skate"

"Well of course I do, it's my favorite thing to do, and teaching others my favorite thing makes me feel," you tried to explain it, "good" you laughed, making Milo laugh along, "I'm not so sure how to explain it"

"Well it was an honor being taught be a world champ" he said.

"No, don't call me that" you shrugged, "I just really enjoy being good at skating"

The rink was empty now, only leaving a group of friends and you and Milo.

"But really, Y/n, thanks for teaching me" he said placing his hand down, it was close to yours.

The group of friends left leaving the rink completely empty now, only you and Milo.

He gently grabbed your hand. Surprised you looked at him.

"Should we do a few more rounds, before we leave?" he asked.

You silently agreed by standing up leaving the jacket on the bench.
You and Milo skated around the rink, giggling and laughing at nothing.

You felt the breeze hit your face, and you let go of Milo's hand, gathering speed before you did a few moves:

You did you favorite before landing and skating back to Milo:

"Y/n you are truly amazing!" He said with a smile.

You blushed, "thanks, I feel like I sound like a broken record but, I really love skating"

You guys went back to the bench to  sit down and taking off your skates, in silence.

You returned his jacket and stood up on the ice, holding the sunflower.

You somehow, silently agreed to walk back to the pokemon center.

"It's really pretty" you said stopping underneath a lamp post, "I really had an amazing time"

"M-Me too" he blushed, "I almost forgot!" He said reaching into the pocket of his jacket and pulled out a little rectangular box, "it's for you" he looked away, blushing.

You opened the small box to reveal a silver necklace:

"Milo, you shouldn't have! Thank you" you hesitated before looking up at him and placing a quick kiss on his cheek, making it go red, your face heated up.

"I'll get you some thing next time" you said with a smile.

"You don't have too" Milo started to say then his eyes widened, "next time?"

"Yeah, well that is...if you want to... do it again?" You looked away.

"Yeah, I had a really great time with you" he said.

"Then I'll see you later" you smiled, "good night, Milo"

But before you could go, he embraced you in a warm hug and you felt him kiss the top of your head, "good night, Y/n"

He let go and you smiled up at him before turning to leave, just loving what a wonderful afternoon you had.
