Type: Null
"Cinderace, Max Lightning!" I yell up to my Gigantamaxed partner.
"Charizard, use Max Rockfall!" Leon yelled to his partner. Both fire type pokemon roared and started their attacks. Cinderace stomps the surface of his massive fireball, and five massive volts crash straight down on Charizard, while Charizard stomps the ground, making the Battle Tower shake, and forms a massive rock wall, and shoves it toward Cinderace. The volts smash the rock wall to pieces, spewing rubble all over the ground.
"Alright, that's enough for today!" Leon says. I say the same to Cinderace, and they both revert to normal size, and meet in the middle, and join paw and claw, and shake. Cinderace has learned not to be a sore loser. Leon and Charizard have been helping him with that.
"Great battling today, Champion. You're improving." Leon says, walking up to Charizard, Cinderace and I, holding his cap by the brim.
"Thanks. Your skill set is helping us big time."
"I'll see you soon. Charizard and I have a few conferences to attend. I'll catch you later."
"Alright. Peace!" I say. "Come on, buddy!"
Cinderace and I race back to the elevator, and we ride down to the bottom, to the lobby, and I have to prevent Cinderace from running around, checking what's in all the door around the elevator. Once we reach the bottom, I return Cinderace to his ball and head for the exit, when I heard something growl. I look to the right of the entrance, and see a League staff member along with some kind of weird Pokémon.
It had a black body, and stood on all fours. It's front legs were green and had spikes on them. And it's back legs were black and blue. It had what looked like a blue fish tail and a gray scruff, and it was wearing some kind of mask, with sharp shuriken-like shapes on the hinges, and a mane of grey fur on its head.
"Alright, Electric Memory. This should cover the electricity bill. Come on, Null." the League member says. She takes out a yellow disc and shows it to the Pokémon, but it simply bashed the disc away with its claw. It snarled as the disc skid across the ground. It hit my shoe and stopped. I bent down and picked up the disc. It was a little thicker than any other disc I've seen. I walk over the the staff member and the strange Pokémon.
"Hey, you need this?" I ask her, holding the disc up in between my index and middle fingers.
"Oh, yes. Thank you. Congratulations on overcoming the Ultra Ball tier, Isaac!" she says, taking the disc back.
"No problem. I don't need any praise. I'm just like anyone else in Galar, a normal trainer reaching for the top." I say. I look to the strange Pokémon. It softly growled. "What Pokémon is this?" I ask.
"This is Type: Null. There are a lot of mysteries still wrapped around it. It's an artificial pokemon, created in the Alola region." she says.
Type: Null snarled again. I walked up to it and held out my hand, but all it did was growl, louder this time and it retracted it's head, and headbutted me straight in the torso, and I flew backwards, and hit the back of one of the couches, sending a massive jolt up my spine.
"Ow!" I yell out.
"Oh, my stars! Null, that's not how you greet new people! Are you alright?" the League member yelps, coming to my aid and helping me up.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Nothing feels broken, but boy, that hurt." I say.
"I'm so sorry. Null isn't the best around people he doesn't know." she says.
The member and I walk back to Null, and he once again snarls.
"Y'know, Isaac, why don't you take Null with you?"
"Uh, pardon?" I ask.
"Type: Null could learn a lot from you. With your trustworthy spirit and kind heart, Null could grow."
She gives me Null's pokeball and a strange case. It had a rectangular shape arms and there was a small notch that you pull, and out came a long line of neatly organized discs, much like the one I returned to her.
"I was given this by a member of the company that made Null, the Aether Foundation. They say it was supposed to be something called a Beast Killer or something like that, but I only know that all eighteen of those discs contain data on each of the eighteen Pokémon types. I hope you'll find a use for them. Good luck." she says. I return Type: Null to its pokeball and walk outside, and take the train to the Wild Area. I exit the train and head towards the shore of Lake Miloch, where me and my team camp. After I set up the tent and pot for the food, I release all my Pokémon I had on standby.
Cinderace, Lucario, Charizard, Sylveon, Boltund, and Type: Null. Corviknight was off training.
"Afternoon, everyone! You guys are all doing good?" I ask.
Cinderace starts jumping up and down, cheering, same with Boltund. Sylveon calmly sings and lets her feelers fly free, and Charizard spreads his wings and spews a mighty Flamethrower into the air. Lucario simply puts his paw on the spike on his chest, and nods. Type: Null only looked at the Pokémon closest to him, Sylveon, and suddenly headbutted her across the plain, and she skids across the grass, scratching up her fur. Now that was going too far. If anyone messes up her fur, she gets mad. Like, MAD mad. Sylveon stands up, and her expression changes from the happy, positive smile that always brings happiness to everyone else, to a look of pure rage.
"Veon!" she snarls. She uses her power to make the leaves around her float, and she shoots them at Type: Null. Null shrugs off the leaves, and Sylveon starts to charge a Swift, but I react.
"Cinderace, kick my bag to me!" I say. Cinderace nods and sweeps my backpack off the ground, and kicks it toward me. I jump into the air and catch it, and open up the flap, and grab the brush I used to neatly brush Sylveon's fur. I run up and kneel down in front of her and hold up the brush.
"Sylveon! It's alright! Look!" I yell out. Sylveon looks at the brush and smiles again, rubbing her head against me and calming down. She sits down and I brush her fur back to its normal form, and stand up.
"Veon!" she cheers. She wraps one of her feelers around my wrist and we walk back to the team. Lucario instantly turned to Null and charged an Aura Sphere at it. Type: Null simply stood. It wasn't afraid.
"Lucario, stand down!" I tell him. He turns his head while keeping his body kept towards Null.
What is this.. this.. thing? I have neither seen or heard of it.
"It's called Type: Null, an artificial Pokémon from the Alola region." I say. Sylveon lets go of me and walks up to Null, and wraps one of her feelers around it's right front leg. Null looks at Sylveon and bows his head down, and lays down.
Type: Null apologizes for attacking Sylveon. It says it's easily provoked.
"That's good to hear. Why don't we make something to eat?" I ask. Everyone nods, and they all run off separate ways. We have a code with this. Cinderace starts up the fire, Boltund helps Sylveon sniff out good herbs for the meal, while Lucario and Charizard shake trees to get berries to fall down.
Sylveon brings a Pungent Root, and Lucario and Charizard bring me mostly sweet berries.
I slice up the berries and dump them into the pot, and Cinderace lights the wood. Type: Null just watches us. When I serve everyone's food, I walk over to Null and put the plate of food out in front of it, and it simply looked at the food, then back up at me with a scowl. It's eyes, anyways.
Isaac, Null thinks this is some kind of joke.
"Why's that?" I ask Lucario, turning around.
It has that mask on. It can't eat. The only way it can is if you slip a berry into the compartment near its mouth, or the guard of its mask.
"Alright then." I say, grabbing a Pecha Berry from the plate. I hold it under Null's mask, and I feel the berry slip out of my hand. I retract my hand. The berry is gone. Null chews, and I can tell it likes the berry. It doesn't show any emotion. I feed it the rest of the berries, and by that time, everyone else is finished. I pick up the plates and Lucario and Sylveon put the pot away, and Boltund and Cinderace bury the embers from the fire. Charizard comes up behind me and gives me a big bear hug, or in his case, a dragon hug. He picks me up off the ground.
"Zard!" he cheers.
"I'm glad you liked it, buddy. Could you put me down?" I strained. The Flame Pokémon set me down on the ground, and I decided it's time to set up the tent. I grab the components from my travel bag, and Lucario and Cinderace help me set it up. We put up the flaps and put the poles into place, and by the time we're finished, the others are off doing their own thing. Charizard flies into the air to talk with the Flying type Pokémon in the air, Sylveon approaches the wild Pokémon in the tall grass and lures them out to play, Boltund finds a high rock to absorb any loose electricity in the air, Cinderace leaps through the trees nearby to sharpen his speed, Lucario sits down near the tent and starts meditating, and Type: Null just observes the lake. I walk over to it and stand by it. It slightly turns to me and snarls.
"I get it. You aren't familiar with the way we get along. Give it time, Null." I say. I lightly pat it on the back of its mask, and once more, it headbutted me, this time nearly into the lake. I fly back from the force and skid about ten feet across the ground, my left arm ending up half in the water. Null snarls again, and I nervously look back to Lucario. He's still meditating. Thank Arceus he didn't see that. I get up and walk back to Null, standing further away from it, staring right into its eyes. It reflects my actions.
"Null, I know you don't trust me, but you need to stop using what feels like Iron Head on members of my team. It especially hurt Sylveon, in more ways than one." I say. Null growls. I give up and leave it alone, and walk back near the tent. As soon as I walk past Lucario, I can feel his aura pierce through me.
I could hear and see what went on with Null.
I turn around, and Lucario is still in the same position, and his eyes are still closed.
I think you forget that I can see the Aura of all humans and Pokémon, and the conflict between us and Type: Null is not a pretty sight.
"So I guess you saw him skyrocket me across the shore?" I ask.
Lucario opens his left eye and a small smile curves on his lips.
Every bit of it.
"Yeah, laugh it up. Soon it'll do that to you." I laugh. I walk into my tent and put my cap on my bag, and pull out my phone. I scroll through the latest news, and after about fifteen minutes, I get a message from Hop.
H: Lee says you got a new Pokémon. Care to take it down to the lab so Sonia and I can have a proper look at it?
I text him back.
I: Sure. I'll be over there soon.
H: Awesome. I'm gonna finish up the work Sonia gave me.
I close my phone, and give it about an hour for Hop to finish. In that time, I'm watching Cinderace and Lucario train together. Cinderace ignites his paw in a Fire Punch, and Lucario used Bone Rush, a green bone of energy materializing in his paw.
"Alright, go!" I say. Lucario and Cinderace are both quick Pokémon, so they reach each other in two seconds flat, despite being a good ten yards away from each other.
Lucario holds up the Bone Rush and blocks Cinderace's offensive. Cinderace quickly retaliates and uses Low Kick, making an attack on Lucario's legs and sweeping him into the air, mid suspension, and he throws an overhead Fire Punch, smashing Lucario into the ground, his body bouncing from the recoil. Lucario quickly gets up and throws a Bone Rush straight at Cinderace, missing by centimeter, but Lucario shoots an Aura Sphere straight at him, and he takes the hit. Cinderace kneels down, clutching his stomach, while Lucario stands over him, holding his Bone Rush. Lucario holds out his free paw, and Cinderace looks up at him, with a scowl on his face, but it turns into a smile. Cinderace takes the offer and Lucario helps him up.
Lucario and Cinderace were good friends, and they never hold any grudges against each other.
"Great, hustle. You two. Come on over here." I say, motioning them over. They both walk over to me, and I grab the two Full Restores I had on standby, and spray them both, restoring their health and healing any wounds.
Cinderace is improving. I could feel the difference in his strength from that ground pound he put me through.
I hold back a chuckle, and put my fist up to my lips, trying to hide it.
What's so funny?
"That looked painful. I've never seen Cinderace use that move before."
I admit, it was painful, but it was worth it to see his improvements. Apparently we're going to see Hop?
"Yes. I'm gonna pack up the tent. Can you two go find the others?" I ask. They both nod and take off separate directions.
After about five minutes, I pack the tent away and I see Cinderace come back with Charizard and Boltund, and Lucario with Sylveon. The only Pokémon that was missing was... Type: Null.
"Lucario?" I ask. He looks my way. "Where's Null?" I ask.
I thought Cinderace found him.
I look at Cinderace, and he just shrugs.
"Ugh. Knowing it's reckless personality, it's probably in trouble. Cinderace, Boltund, look around the general vicinity. Charizard, see if the Pokémon in the air have found it. Lucario, try to find it through your aura, and Sylveon, talk to the Pokémon on the ground. Move out!" I say. They all take their respective stations, and I take out Null's pokeball and move around. The closer I get, the warmer it gets.
I eventually come to the Stony Wilderness, where the ball starts to heat up. I put the ball away, and ten seconds later, I hear something growl behind me. I turn around and see a Rhydon behind me.
I jump back in shock, and start backing up, but the Rhydon just gets closer. I see several green leaves shoot at the Pokémon, but they barely do anything, even being really, really effective. I look behind Rhydon, and see Sylveon.
The Rhydon turns around, and Sylveon is running up to it.
"Sylveon, no!" I yell out. She doesn't listen. The Rhydon's arm suddenly starts glowing purple and some purple liquid drops from it. Poison Jab. That's one of the types that Sylveon is weak to!
The Rhydon sucker punched Sylveon out of the way, and she skids across the ground, hitting a small batch of rocks.
"Sylveon!" I yell. She had a tint of purple on her face. She was poisoned. I look back to the Rhydon, and it was charging the same attack again, this time directed at me. Suddenly, Null comes out of nowhere from behind me and used Iron Head, straight into Rhydon's upper torso. It packed so much power that it was blasted back a good ten feet, landing on its back. It gets up and wanders off.
"Thanks, Null!" I realize what had just happened. I rush over to Sylveon and put the back of my hand on her head.
"Veon..."
Null suddenly growled and pushes me aside, and lay down, motioning for Sylveon to use the last of her strength to climb onto its back. Sylveon gets the message and limps onto Null's body, and it stands up, and we rush back to camp. As soon as Lucario sees me, he knew the verdict.
"Lucario, Full Restore, now!" I frantically yell. Lucario nods and uses Psychic to grab a Full Restore from my bag. The dispenser flies my way, and I jump into the air and catch it with one hand, and Null sets Sylveon down. I spray the side of Sylveon where she was jabbed. The purple tint on her face fades, and she slowly opens her eyes.
"Sylveon?" I ask, holding her head up in my hand.
Sylveons eyes open the whole way, and when she sees Null and I, she happily rejoices and stands up, stretching.
"Glad to see you're feeling better." I chuckle, standing up. I grab my bag and put the empty canister into my bag. "Alright, let's wrap this up. Let's start packing, everyone." I say. Cinderace and Lucario help me pack up the tent, and Boltund sniffs around for anything we missed. Charizard and Sylveon help me return the berries I didn't use to the trees we found them at.
I return all of my Pokémon, but Null simply backs away and snarls.
"All right. No pokeball?" I ask. It nods. I chuckle and strap the pokeball onto my belt.
"Let's take the train to Wedgehurst."
We head to the Meetup Spot and get on the train, and from there, it's a five minute ride to Wedgehurst. Null stands next to me as I hold onto the handle on the ceiling. Null nervously looks around, careful of any people. I suddenly hear two very high voices, and I turn around to see two little kids, who look like they are about eight or nine.
"It's the Champion!" one squeals.
"We have your league card!" the other exclaims.
They both hold up my league card.
"Nice cards you got there, boys." I say, kneeling down and letting go of the handle on the ceiling. "Where are you two off to today?"
"James? Jace?" I hear a voice. I look up and see a blond haired woman, with her hands on her hips, and she's walking towards us. "Boys, don't bother the Champion! I'm sure he has a lot of important work to do!" she says, grabbing one of each of the boys arms and pulling them back.
"Ma'am, no worries. I don't have anything really big going on today." I say, chuckling. Null comes up behind me and observes. I turn my head and rub the mask.
"Oh, I'm terribly sorry, Mr. Champion. My sons tend to get excited whenever they see you."
"Mom! Can we tell him what we want to do when we grow up?" the one named James asks.
The mother looks down at him and smiles warmly.
"Sure, honey."
James turned to me.
"When we're old enough to be trainers, my brother and I are going to challenge you to a Double Battle!"
"And we won't accept any outcome other than victory!" Jace says.
"That's a great goal you have. But who knows?" I shrug. "I might not even be Champion anymore when you two are old enough. Someone could beat you to it." I say. "But, if I do end up facing you two, I'm sure we'll all have one heck of a time."
"His words are so inspirational!" they both say at the same time.
"Thanks, Champion. You really made their day." the mother says.
"If someone else takes my spot at Champion sometime in the future, I know Galar will have some amazing trainers."
The train stops, and I can see Wedgehurst.
"That's my stop. I'll be seeing you three later! Come on, Null!" I say. We get off the train, but suddenly the mother of the two boys stops me. I turn around and she holds out the two league cards.
"I know it's too much to ask, but could you possibly autograph these for my sons? They've been dying to get one." she says.
"No problemo. Anything for a fan or two." I say. I take out a pen and sign both the league cards, and the woman thanks me and gets back on the train.
Null suspiciously looks at me and turned its head.
"What?" I ask it.
"Whaddya mean what?" I hear Hop from behind me. He puts his hands on my shoulders and launches himself upward. I struggle to stand at the force he's slamming onto me.
"Hey, Hop." I strain. Once gravity pulls him back down to earth, he gives me a big Bewear hug.
"It feels like it's been years since we last saw each other, mate!" he says to me. He puts me down and I turn around. He had his lab coat on over his normal look.
"Hop, it's been two weeks." I say.
"Still feels like years!" Hop gazes at Null. "So this is the mysterious Pokémon?" he asks.
"Hop, don't get too-"
There was no time. As soon as Hop laid a hand on Null, it headbutted him back. He flew back a few meters, but Zamazenta suddenly came out of nowhere and caught Hop by the collar of his lab coat in its fangs. It set him down, and Hop started brushing off his coat.
"Thanks, Zamazenta. That was just rude." he says, turning to me.
"I told you not to get too close, bonehead." I said.
"Shut up!" he laughed.
"This is Type: Null. It's supposedly a man made Pokémon from the Alola region." I say.
"Wow. Artificial Pokémon? Why don't we take it to the lab? I'm sure Sonia and I can provide some more info." Hop suggests. I agree and Hop, Null, Zamazenta and I all head toward the lab, and as Hop and I enter the front door, Zamazenta leads Null to the small area they put Pokémon in for research.
"Sonia is out somewhere, so you just have me." Hop says, sitting down in his chair.
"That's fine. Anyways, so you have research on Null?"
"Yeah, actually. Apparently it has an evolution. Well, not so much evolution I think."
"What makes you say that?"
"Well, a few months ago, on my trip to Alola, there was some weird blond emo kid with the exact same Pokémon, only the brown mask was taken off. The kid had some weird aura around him..."
"Hop." I cut him off.
"Sorry. Type: Null was meant to be something called a 'Beast Killer'. Until somehow the kid with the other one somehow managed to take it off."
As Hop finished his sentence, some giant rumble shook the entire lab.
"Woah, what the heck is goin' on?" I ask, falling backwards. I grab onto the back of the couch and stand back up. Hop nearly falls out of his chair.
"Oh, that's not a good sign." Hop says, looking at his tracker. Suddenly, a giant crack was heard outside. Hop and I went outside to see some kind of giant black creature standing in the big valley. It had a completely black body and has two massive arms. It's gigantic mouth was open, with a yellow rim around it, and it had an enormous pair of blue eyes. It looked like it had a second head.
"What on earth is that?" I ask.
"No idea! I've never seen anything like that 'round here, mate!"
Suddenly the thing roared, and Hop and I had to cover our ears.
Hop and I grab our poke balls and we each throw out one Pokémon. I throw out Cinderace, and Hop throws out Rillaboom
"Cinderace, Pyro Ball!"
"Rillaboom, Drum Beating!"
As our partner's attacks landed, the giant beast barely minded.
"It resisted both of our moves?" I asked.
"If it resisted Fire and Grass, one of the only types it could be is Dragon! Rillaboom, come back!"
"Cinderace, return!"
Hop and I throw out other Pokémon.
"Sylveon, use Moonblast!" I yell, as the Intertwining Pokémon comes out of her pokeball.
Sylveon let her feelers shake loose and she launched a ball of energy straight at the beast, and it looked like it did massive damage, because the beast started stumbling.
Hop threw out a new Pokémon. A Kommo-o.
"Kommo-o, use Clanging Scales!" he yelled. Kommo-o started rubbing the scales on its body together, releasing a massive racket. The move must've been Dragon, because Sylveon was in range of the attack, but she took no damage, and the beast started stumbling backwards again. Once it regained its bearings, it leaped into the air and started diving toward us.
"That's Heavy Slam! Move!" Hop yelled. I jumped out of the way, as well as Hop and Kommo-o, but Sylveon tripped over a rock. Heavy Slam is a Steel move, one of the types she's weak too.
"No! Sylveon!" I yell out. I run back in and dive for her, and grab her. "It'll be okay!"
"Veon!" she yells.
I thought I was going to be crushed, but suddenly, Null jumped above us and smacked the Pokémon away with such force, using a new move I hadn't seen. The beast flew back toward the valley, and into the hole it came out of. The hole closed up, and we were all left in shock. Null leaned its head down to me and softly growled.
"We're okay, thanks." I say. I return Sylveon to her ball and put a hand on Null's mask, but as soon as my hand makes contact with the mask, Null starts glowing. Suddenly the control mask came off, and Null was fully visible again.
"No way!" Hop yelled. He returned his Pokémon and trotted up to me.
"Null just evolved!" he exclaims. Null looks at Hop and nods, and turns back to me. "It's called Silvally! It can change its type to any of the eighteen in the world! See that compartment in its head?" Hop asks.
He points to a little circular slot on Silvally's head, and I remember what it was for. I grab the collection of disks in my bag and take out the electric type one. I insert the disk into Silvally's head, and the fins on his head turn from white to yellow. He was electric type now.
"Woah, that's awesome!" I say. "Great job, Silvally!"
Silvally nods again.
"It's said that Null evolved into Silvally if it has a strong bond with its trainer."
"That's awesome. Hey, Hop, where did you get Kommo-o?" I ask. Silvally looks at him as well.
"Found him rummaging around in the Dusty Bowl a few days ago. He's a really reliable partner."
"Seems like it."
The town thanked us for saving them, and Hop and I finished off the day with a battle. His Kommo-o versus Dragon Silvally
