The Prologue
A boy with short, loose-curly hair sat on the edge of cliff. The steep cliff housed a lighthouse, but attached to the beacon, a lab to professors the child was familiar with, Professor Sada and Turo, a married couple of researchers in the Paldea region.
"Ugh. I've been going to Naruva Academy for almost two months and she still never got back to me." The boy thought aloud.
"How do you tell a guy, "Hey, check our lab, should be a Pokémon there for you,"and the lab is locked! You know what I'm saying, Mystic?" The boy ranted, asking the Pokemon with its head in his lap a question.
Mystic, a Meowscarada and long time partner to the boy, lifted its paw and closed his mouth so it could nap. The boy scoffed and slowly removed its paw, before sighing softly.
"I was thinking maybe my skills had got some recognition from them. I mean, not many people catch a Ceruledge within their first week... As much as she scares me."
Mystic seemed to huff at the thought, and stretched across the boy's body. It stood up, before looking over at the lighthouse lab.
"We're not breaking in." The boy commented.
It immediately took a seat beside him.
The boy scoffed as his Rotom Phone flew out of his pocket.
"Incoming Call! ID: Professor Sada."
"Wait, really?! What timing! How goes it, ma'am?!" The boy perked up as if he hadn't been complaining moments ago.
With no video feed, the boy suddenly flinched hearing mechanical whirs and zaps of electricity.
"M-Ma'am...?" The boy asked.
He heard a small sniff, before her voice emerged from the other end.
"Tae... please." She began, making his breath hitch as a low roar could be heard distant from her call. "Grow strong, help Koraidon, and make it to Area Zero. I... need your help—"
The call cut.
Tae's mouth was agape in fear.
His mind rand rampant with possibilities, seeing as all signs led to an attack. He knew the nature of her research alongside her husband was rather dangerous seeing as they were cut off from most human contact. All their supplies were Pokémon League funded and supported.
Tae was almost their only human interaction— even their own son had barely been in contact he heard, of his own volition however.
Tae felt Mystic nuzzle into him, and regained his composure.
"Area Zero... I'd get arrested if I go anywhere near there. I need to gain authorization. Fast, too. Only way I can think of... damnit." Tae stood up, and looked at the scratched and blackened Pokéball in his left hand.
Ceruledge's Pokéball.
"Mystic, I think it's time we show Paldea what they're missing." Tae smirked, before seeing Mystic stare off behind him.
"I said something so cool and you're not even listenin—" Tae turned around to see what Mystic was staring at and saw a large, red, unconscious dragon barreling straight for him.
"HOLY SHI—"
Meowscarada leapt up and tackled Tae to the side, but the speed alone sent the two flying off the cliff and towards the beach below.
Mystic threw a flower bomb at the sand, and Ceruledge dashed out of its Pokéball with its blazing swords behind it.
It landed and slashed around it, creating a slide of glass with the flames, letting Tae and Mystic slide safely onto the beach.
Tae panted from the rush and held his chest, looking at his Ceruledge with a thankful stare. The Knight looked over at him with a nod, before turning to the red dragon that crashed closer to the water.
Tae quickly grabbed his phone and sent a text to Professor Sada, saying that if Koraidon was red, he found it.
Tae rushed over to the massive dragon and saw it was still unconscious, however the moment it heard the splash of his steps, it woke up and roared, making him flinch.
Mystic and Ceruledge appeared in front of him with attacks ready, but Tae slipped past them, knowing both were rather adamant to defend him.
"It's okay, big guy, I'm here to help." Tae softly urged.
From first glance, it appeared to only be exhausted, making Tae sigh in relief since he wasn't good at first aid. Tae took off his socks and shoes since he was in the water, and tossed them back to the sand.
"Alright, bud. I've got Battle studies in like thirty minutes, but I'm sure Ms. Dendra won't mind if I'm late if it's taking care of you. So what's the matter?" Tae asked, willing to take his time.
The dragon glared, before sniffing the air. It suddenly crawled forward and sniffed the bag on his back, before roughly nudging its snout in attempts to get what was inside.
"First you want my time, and now my lunch? Fine. I owe it to the Professors." Tae unzipped his bag and held out a BLT to Koraidon.
Koraidon clamped its jaws around the sandwich and snatched it out his hand, before scarfing it down with ease. Leaning over him, Koraidon's body began to pulse with a warm orange color, before it smiled and leapt up, the feathers along its head and back fluttering into a crown, the frill on its chest expanding and glowing with power as it roared.
It landed behind him, before licking his face with affection.
"What an easy Pokemon... Come on, let's get out of here." Tae laughed, unbothered by the transformation and aura of power around the dragon.
Tae turned back to the cliff and wondered how he would get back up, but saw there was only a cave in the cliff side.
"I'm a betting man." Tae shrugged, before walking forward with confidence, hoping that the cave would lead upward.
Mystic, Ceruledge, and now Koraidon, followed after Tae's attempt at getting to class on time.
