Johto League

Lyra's POV

I sat on my couch, happy, happy about that I was home again. I missed this place for the last 6 months. Never thought I would miss it so much. I couldn't believe my Johto adventure was complete and finally I was eligible for Pokemon League. I was a true Pokemon Trainer. It was almost time to sit back and go after my dreams, fashion designing.

Mom had asked my ten thousand times how we came New Bark Town from Blackthorn City in just two days. Everytime she asked Red and I would smile at her. Little did she know if I ever told her the truth she would not believe me.

We came here on Red's Charizard, flying, hundred of feet above ground. Mother would freak out if she knew I was riding a supersonic flying Pokemon cause she believed I wasn't the kind of person who would do it.

She also told us not to worry about the registrations for both of us for the league as father worked in the Pokemon League and he'd register us before anyone else does.

"Well you two should be leaving soon, the league is going to start the day after." Said Mother, watching Man versus Wild on television, Bear Grylls was surely the bravest man alive.

Red stunned after hearing what mother had said. He got up and quickly started packing his bag. "What's the date today?"

"Um." I looked at my Pokegear. "It's August the 10th. What's wrong? The league is gonna start on 12th, what's the hurry?"

"We need practice!" He said.

He was right, we did need practice, but there was no time for that. What can you practice in a day? Looking at Red, I felt nothing but concern, he was a brilliant trainer, he lacked one quality which was belief. He just knew things, he knew he would win, but he didn't believe it with all his heart. Deep down he was scared of losing, again, and this time wouldn't be his fault.

"Lyra, we should be leaving as soon as possible." Red picked up his bag. "Victory Road is the perfect place to practice. Um actually, it is the best one. I'm sure some of your Pokemon would evolve on the way to the Indigo Plateau."

"Is that so?" I said, realising that my starter hadn't evolved yet. "When are we leaving?"

"I literally just said that we're leaving right now." Red walked to the door, then he looked at mother. "I'm sure you'd we praying for Lyra."

"Of course I am, Red." Said Mother. She got up and hugged me, and then Red. "Best of luck you two, I'll come to watch the finals."

The first place Red wanted to visit was Professor Elm's lab. I didn't really want to meet Elm, he seemed a bit off to me. I mean, most of the time he just admired how good was Professor Juniper was.

All of his conversations had a special mention of the Unova region's Professor. Though his laboratory was pretty.

"Red! Lyra! What a pleasant surprise!" Professor Elm welcomed us. "Ethan was here an hour ago. He showed me his Pokemon, quite powerful team he had."

I accept it, Ethan had really powerful Pokemon, it doesn't mean he'll be able to defeat Red. Ethan is just another easy battle for Red, my cousin's the best.

"Well you two should be leaving, what made you come here?" Asked Elm.

"It's just, my Pokedex." Red handed his Pokedex to Elm. "It's been running into issues, it has stopped saying the information, it just displays it now. Sometimes it does, but-"

"I'm really not the right person for this." Said Elm. "Why don't you talk to Oak? He invented it. He'd be of greater help, besides technology is not my area."

With that, we left Professor Elm's lab and were now headed towards the Indigo League.

Red explained that Tohjo falls was a no fly area, so we had to ride his Blastoise to the falls and then walked towards Kanto.

Surprisingly, Tohjo falls was in a cave and just above the falls was a wooden bridge to cross it. I had never seen a water fall inside a cave. It was so close to New Bark Town.

Just as we crossed it. We rode Charizard to Viridian City. I almost fell asleep on the way. By the tine we reached Viridian, it was night-time and we spent the night in the Pokecenter.

Red switched Ditto with his Snorlax. I felt bad as my Pokemon weren't as powerful as his.

Victory Road was a cave, I really thought it was a road. The guards asked for all the gym badges I had and then only allowed us to move on. I wondered how people came to see the match without any gym badges.

"Okay, so you'll meet alot of trainers here. Challenge them to a battle and train." Red walked towards the entrance. "I'll be flying to the top of the victory road, I'll be practicing there."

"Wait what?" I said, as Red walked away. "He really needs to think straight."

In a distance was trainer, tying his shoe laces. I walked to him. "I challenge you for a Pokemon battle." He looked at me.

"Sure." He said. We distant ourselves from each  other and sent out our Pokemon. "Go Qwilfish."

"Go Chikorita." I said. "Use Razor leaf."

Qwilfish was critically hit. "Qwilfish, use Toxic."

It did not affect Chikorita. I had the best advantage. "Chikorita, vine whip."

Qwilfish fainted.

"Good job." He said. "Come back, Qwilfish. Go Slugma. Use Ember."

Chikorita was critically hit. "Come back." I said. "Go Wooper. Use Water Gun."

Slugma fainted.

"Okay!" The trainer smiled. "I was just warming up. I choose Girafarig. Girafarig, use Thunderbolt."

Wooper fainted. "Ugh. Go Flaaffy, use Iron Tail."

"Girafarig, use Psychic!" He shouted with all his force. Flaaffy fainted.

This Pokemon was strong. I pointed my Pokedex towards it.

"Girafarig, a Long neck Pokemon. Its tail has a small brain of its own. Beware! If you get close, it may react to your scent by biting." Said the Pokedex.

Red's POV

"Okay, let's do that again." I said. "Pikachu, use double team and Espeon, try to hit a psychic on Pikachu."

Pikachu ran as fast as he could, till I could see a hundred Pikachu in front of me. Espeon was very confused which one was the real one, but he figured ut out easily. The one with a shadow is always the real one.

Espeon used Psychic but failed to hit Pikachu. I've been practicing this with Espeon for quite a while and results were always the same.

Espeon too seemed tired. "You need a rest right?" I asked, Espeon was very tired. "Come back, Espeon. Okay then, go Ivysaur."

Ivysaur came out and had a constant smile on his face. "Pikachu, same thing. Ivysaur, try to stop Pikachu from double teaming."

Pikachu used Double team. Ivysaur didn't do anything, he just waited for me to tell him what to do. "Ivysaur, what would you do in these situations?"

Ivysaur focused at Pikachu, and then closed his eyes, he was just hearing the sound of Pikachu's footsteps and then vine whip, Pikachu was tightly held between the vines.

"Well done, Ivysaur!" I appreciated.

Lyra's POV

"Chikorita, use Tackle." Girafarig fainted. Flaaffy's Pokeball fell off my belt and started glowing blue in color, Flaaffy came out of the ball and was covered in blue light. She grew in size and finally evolved into a bigger yellow version of herself.

I pointed my Pokedex.

"Ampharos, a Light Pokemon. The tail's tips shines brightly and can be seen from far away. It acts as a beacon for lost people."

"Cool!" I said. The trainer gave me luck for the Pokemon League and I contacted Red. Red told he was almost done training Espeon and was ready for the League.

We took a shortcut to the Pokemon League and were there in no time. Johto League was going to start the very next day.

We entered the Indigo Plateau's Pokecenter that connected all of the stadiums.

"Red!" Said a familiar voice. We turned around to see who called the name. It was Bill, the copycat who invented the PC system. "I've been looking all over for you."

"Oh, Bill!" Red smiled. "Wh- what are you doing here? What happened?"

Bill handed Red a Pokeball. "As promised. Lance and I rescued him from Team Rocket's Base. Don't lose him again."

Red looked at the Pokeball, tears filled his eyes.  "Articuno." Red smiled and sat on a couch.

"Trainers to come at main hall for opponent sorting!" Said an announcement.

Red quickly sent Articuno to Professor Oak, as Legendary Pokemon were not allowed in Kanto and Johto League and we rushed to the main hall.

Not many trainers were present there. The announcer walked forward, his expressions were intense.

"This year, only a few trainers have entered their names for the Johto League. We have five less trainers than that of previous year." He said. "So the committee has decided that there won't be trainer battles before the Elite four. Prepare for tomorrow, your first Elite battle will be held in the morning."

The noise was a lot for such a less crowd. I was out of words, so tomorrow I'll have my first Elite battle. Will was the first elite who uses the Psychic types and given that I just defeated a Girafarig, I was sure I'll be able to get through the first one.

I wasn't sure where all that confidence came from, but I knew I was going to win that battle.

I looked at Red, who seemed like he had lost all his confidence because of his past actions of changing the time. I was sure he was praying that he doesn't lose the battle. He was too demotivated, and the sad part was that I wasn't the person who could motivate people. I could hardly motivate myself, the only thing I was good at was demotivating people.

He seemed depressed, sad and anxiety or stress could be seen on his face. Suddenly, he seemed fearless and courageous, a complete opposite of what he was a moment ago.

"I'm gonna win this." He said.
