Update on the nuzlock

25 January 2020:

Misty killed off my Spearow... and my Rattata as well.

Misty how could you?!?!

**sigh** I'm going to miss New Year the rattata and Spike the Spearow.

Actually, I wouldn't miss Spike so much as I already have Ace the Pidgey.

But New Year... it was my starter...

Anyways, with all bad things, good things do follow.

Bugsy is now a beedrill and gosh I'm proud of it as it helped me prevent two deaths... while I was trying to sacrifice it.

Ace evolved into pidgeotto. (And nearly died at Misty's gym)

I caught a level 17 Jigglypuff near the daycare center and named it Swift.

And... I left my meowth (I think?) at the daycare center.

The meowth's name? Mac. (If I remember correctly as I really do not care about that meowth... yet.)

But still, I was sour when I missed two encounters earlier in the game. One was a Paras and the other cause I already had all The Pokémon in the area.

Anyways, my current team:

Ace the pidgeotto
My Bellsprout I shall dub as Beansprout as I named it something similar in a different language
Swift the Jigglypuff
Bugsy the beedrill
Springy the Ekans
And... gosh. I forgot my last team member.

Oops.

26 January 2020:

I turned on my game. Turns out that the last member of my team was a Venonat named Mayo.

So, I caught a Psyduck and and a chansey soon after.

However... the chansey didn't last long and lost to an Ace Trainer's Rattata. To make matters worse, that trainer gave me five essentially useless eevee candies... that only sell for 50 pokedollars total.

AND YEP, I KNOW THAT CHANSEY ARE SUPER RARE AND HARD TO ENCOUNTER, LET ALONE BEING A FIRST ENCOUNTER.

And I also do know that they have a high HP.

Or do they? As that Chansey didn't last two hits from that Rattata.

But anyways, it's dead. Already. Wow Chansey, I thought you'll be better than that.

And that Rattata... I miss New Year.

And it turns out that Bugsy has a higher defense or something as I tried sacrificing it and it survived. Again.

Well Bugsy, I shall keep you on my team from now on.

Oh and, Ace and Bean sprout nearly died... again.

Whoops. Looks like my skills need a little work.

By the way, Psyduck has been nicknamed Soda. Don't ask why, Idk myself.

As for the chansey, it was named Bambi... but well, that doesn't matter cause it's dead.

1 February 2020:

I basically fought everything I could on the St Ann and caught a diglett at surprise surprise, Diglett's cave. Named it Dexter by the way. I also claimed the Squirtle from Officer Jenny (is that allowed?) and named it Pebbles because reasons. The rest of the playtime consists of training. Swift nearly died to a vulpix.

22 and 23 February 2020:

I defeated the electric type gym leader by having beansprout put his Pokémon to sleep. Caught a ninorina, a ninorino, a zubat and named them Zona, Nano and Zoom respectively.

But then something tragic happened.

A trainer with a kadabra wiped out Springy and Bugsy.

Yes, Bugsy got sacrificed when I DID NOT WANT TO SACRIFICE IT ANY MORE.

Dang, he'll never live to be a mega beedrill now. 😢😢😢

I still miss New Year...

Springy could have been better...

I don't really care about Spike.

And Bugsy... Nuuuuuu... why?!?!

At least Ace and Beansprout are still alive...

I hate that cave now.

Idk how this works but press B to pay respects to Bugsy.

You know, after this nuzlock is over, I'm gonna revive everyone. IDC.

1st March:

Ace died...

And I actually cried.

Like... nuuuuuu! Why?! ACE!!!

But... I was strangely more sour over Bugsy's death, even though I didn't cry...

But... at least I caught a Vulpix outside Lavender Town and evolved it into a ninetails? Well, I guess the ninetales (I forgot it's name) will serve me well at Erika's gym.

Right now, beansprout is the only Pokémon I've a connection too...
All the rest have died.

Well... I think I may grow to like ninetailes though.

Anyways, beansprout is now a victreebel! As I bought a leaf stone and evolved it.

And Zoom the Zubat is now a golbat.

I taught Zoom shadow ball.

That being said, I still don't dare challenge Erika's gym. All my Pokémon are currently under leveled as my main crew got wiped.

Oh well, time for some level up grinding... and of course, the return to the Pokémon tower.

June 3:

I haven't played the nuzlocke since and I hope I'll continue it someday

August 1, 2020:

I picked up my nuzlock and entered the Pokémon tower where my rival Yamazaki asks if my Pokémon died or something... then he proceeds to murder my Pokémon. Heh... HOW DARE YOU! Heh... it's not like Ace, Bugsy, New Year, Bambi, springy, spike and whoever else I may have accidentally forgotten died. You won't make a good counselor Yamazaki... not at all. Luckily, no one died in this battle (or today for that matter). Also, I am getting pretty attached to the ninetails I've got... it's flamethrower literally obliterates the ghastly in the Tower. Her name was flame, but I've since renamed her and am still trying to get a better one that fits her more. Anyways, nothing much happened today, I just stocked up on potions, made it to the base in the Game Center and saved for the day. Oh yea... Dexter also evolved into dugtrio. I hope Ninetails survives the entire nuzlocke...

August 2: I renamed ninetails today. Her name is now Chiara, leaning light and clear apparently... but I'm still not satisfied with the name and trying to find a better one. If you guys have any suggestions, feel free to share them. I taught Chiara dark pulse cause will o wisp doesn't exactly do much. I also swapped out helping hand for thunderbolt on Zona. Today I swept through the base... and I'm so so glad that I stocked up on potions... or my team would have been knocked out by the leaders of team rocket. I literally had to heal bean sprout every single turn until megahorn ran out of pp just so that I could actually attack the rhyhorn. I'm actually still under leveled at this point. Bean sprout is at level 34 and is my highest leveled Pokémon. My lowest? I believe it's level 24. Luckily, no one died because I spammed those potions like crazy (is that even allowed?) in short, I swept team rocket, bought more potions, learned sky dash and dashed back to larvender town to catch a level 30 ghastly (which is like, already the third highest leveled Pokémon on my team if I were to dump it in) I named it Gaston because my sister thought it'll be a good idea...

No one floats like Gaston
No one smokes like Gaston
No one kills with gas, quite like Gaston (Pokédex entry reference)

Anyways, I ended my play here for today. Luckily... no one died today as well.

August 7:

Gaston died... 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Oh well...

Nothing much today. I just did a bit of grinding, defeated the gym and Pokémon tower, and caught Lit the ponyta and snore the snorlax.

September 5:

Today, I got eevee to learn how to surf so that I could get a few new encounters for my team. They include a pinsir (who died due to low defense or something) a seel named blubber, a tangela named chickynoodle and Kubo the revived kabuto. I would have caught something in the Pokémon mansion as well but my weezing decided to run away from me...
Now that I think about it, I could go to the abandoned power plant for another encounter... maybe I should even use repels so that I could get Zapdos... seeing that I did waste the articuno encounter for the seel... I'm probably going to go TM hunting the next I play, because I'm super under leveled for Koga.

September 11:
So I went TM hunting for substitute (it took me like 15 minutes to find copycat). Right beside her bed I found a moon stone, which I used on Zona. Yep, Zona is now a Nidoqueen. Blubber also evolved while I was hunting for roost so that was nice. However, my doduo Ken died before I could use it on it. Yes, I've a doduo... but I forgot when I caught it... probably the last I've played though. So now roost is practically useless and I just lost a ride Pokémon. I also went to the seafoam islands to get ice beam for blubber. I'll go get gunk shot from the mansion but I'm a little under leveled for the trainers there...

I don't know what I should do now so maybe I'll go around picking fights with the ace trainers for more TMs.

November 28:
I evolved Nano into a Nidoking using a new moon stone from copycat's room. Thus, Nano replaces Zona on the team. Afterwards I forgot what I was supposed to be doing so I went into silph co (is that how you spell it?) and fought Blue. Dexter died in the process but I wasn't that attached to the dugtrio and simply replaced them with Macs the meowth (looks like it's time to grind again). After defeating Blue, I went on to sweep the building of Team Rocket. However I decided to use the opportunity to grind up my Pokémon before facing the admins of team rocket. As such most of today was spent exploring the building, grabbing a few TMs like flamethrower, flash canon, and self destruct (I'm never using this lol) and gaining experience in the process. I'm not done sweeping the area though, and the next I play would be used to continue exploring the building.

December 19:

So I literally swept the entire sliph co building today... at least, all of it besides the boss battle. I grabbed every poke ball, and battled every other trainer in the facility. Or at least I think so...

I even managed to get TM dragon pulse and the free lapras (that I named Lappy due to a lack of inspiration). I haven't gotten the porygon yet though... I think I've to actually finish the boss battle to get it. I'm kind of pissed at Jessie and James though... I've never stated this... but they have caused me considerable pain throughout this entire nuzlock. Currently, my highest leveled Pokémon is Blubber at level 42, followed by Chiara at 41 and beansprout close behind. I've been grinding levels on Nano for a bit, so he's level 28 currently. Someday I think I'll grind all the Pokémon that I have in my box just in case anything happens. No one died today, but Blubber nearly did to James' terrible wheezing and it's thunderbolt. Urgh...

December 25: yes I'm playing this on Christmas Day. I defeated Giovanni, got the master ball, and grabbed Cyrus the porygon outside the Pokémon center. At this point I'm still under leveled for Koga (who's apparently sitting at level 43 and 44) so I decided that I'll be even more under leveled and went back to the Pokémon mansion to grab TM sludge bomb for beansprout and got foul play in the process as well, which I gave to Chiara. Cyrus seems to actually be pretty good, as it has conversion that allows it to change its type for the incredible STAB boost. (I learned how good STAB is after figuring out why Chiara's flamethrower does so much more damage than foul play despite foul play being a stronger move) Cyrus also learned recovery as well... after they leveled up a few levels (apparently porygon are genderless or something) Although let's go is a gen 1 game, the move follows the mechanics from gen VI onwards, thus changing its type into the type of the first move in its selection screen if used. This is going to be really useful for the STAB boost. Afterwards, I headed to route 13 (cause somehow I haven't been there yet) and gave in to catch another venonat as my encounter... mainly because I don't want to pass up any encounters and I think I've practically every Pokémon in the area. Gen 1 is extremely limited in the form of what I can encounter so... I named the venonat Nnaise. (So that together both venonat spell Mayonnaise) before I ended for today's session, I gave a few rare candies to Nano and Cyrus cause level grinding is starting to be a pain due to the fact that you can't battle wild Pokémon in let's go.

December 26: today... we've had 3 deaths.

Yes. 3 deaths.

Look look I can explain... but before we get there, I'm just going to say that my encounter on route 13 was a krabby I named Ogo (as a reference to castle swimmer) and I picked up a hitmonlee from the dojo of which I named NinjaChicken (cause it's a literal ninja chicken drumstick) after getting those Pokémon... I made a really big mistake. You see, I haven't been to the Abandoned power plant at this time... and since I've got the master ball I wanted to challenge Zapdos as my encounter in the power plant and catch it. As such I went to the power plant, let up a number of repels, found zapdos, and attempted to fight it. Zapdos is level 50, 5 levels higher than all of my Pokémon... AND it decided to land a crit thunderbolt on Chiara, killing her instantly. At this point, I wondered if I would like to continue fighting Zapdos as I didn't want Chiara to die in vain. Yet at the same time I was kind of scared that Zapdos had a flying type move that would totally kill Nano and Beansprout. I decided to continue though, pulling out beansprout and giving it an X defense. Turns out I was right, Zapdos had drill peck and nearly killed Beansprout in a single hit. Scared, I tried to run away but Zapdos wouldn't let me, killing Beansprout in the next turn. I wanted to run... I wanted to run away so badly from the monster I was out of my mind to challenge. However I accidentally pressed "use next Pokémon" and was forced to place yet another Pokémon out in the field. Now I don't know how this game works but apparently if you choose to use a new Pokémon you wouldn't be able to escape the choice and you'll have to put one out. As such, I placed Snore, whom I honestly am not as close to as if this point, out in the field. I tried to run away again but Zapdos wouldn't let me, killing Snore as well. This time round I wasn't careless and escaped the Zapdos instead of accidentally sending out yet another Pokémon to their death. Needless to say... that experience sucked. I've started crying ever since Chiara died and had no choice but to see Beansprout, the last OG member of my team and Snore die. It was really devastating... to have half of one's team whipped out in a single battle... and now that Sludge bomb TM is useless till I find another Pokémon that could learn it. Remember lit the ponyta? I changed its name to Phoenix for three reasons. One, I've recently joined the Ace Attorney fandom and the main character's name is Phoenix. Two, this ponyta is going to be rising from Chiara's ashes as her successor, and three, ponyta are fire types so it fits. Phoenix is now on the team alongside Zoom and Chickynoodle to replace the older team members. Of course... this made me extremely under leveled once more as Chira and Beansprout are the two Pokémon with the highest level on my team alongside Blubber, the current only Pokémon I've an attachment to. It's really sad honestly... I've been relying on Chiara so much since the last tragedy I've faced, making her the Pokémon closest to me... and now she's dead. Just like that. That being said... I'm already quite close to Phoenix. (Why is it always the fire types...) I guess it makes sense though, because Sparkle the shiny ponyta on my non-nuzlocke account was literally one of my favorite Pokémon. Anyways, I temporarily replaced Blubber, who was level 45, with Swift the jigglypuff and did some grinding at... uh the open grassy area with the ponyta. I don't know what it's called but that area is probably the closest I could get to home in the game itself... mainly due to the time I spent shiny hunting Sparkle. From catching Sparkle, I've learned a few things about level grinding, and thus pulled out the second player to make catching easier and to grab a ton more experience points. I got so much I could even swap out Nano for Zoom as Nano was at the level 45 cap I gave myself. At the end of today, Zoom learned Leech life (which seems awesome), Chickynoodle was at level 44, and Phoenix the RAPIDASH was at level 41.

December 27, 2020

I mainly did grinding for all my Pokémon today. Macs evolved into a Persian, and I got the free bulbasaur from cerulean city. Keifer is now currently an ivysaur alongside Scar the newly evolved charmeleon. I also picked up another moonstone and got Swift to evolve into Wigglytuff. Keifer is named after the bulbasaur in my one shot/ soon to be fanfic if I can generate ideas. It means cherished. If you flip the e and the i in the name, Kiefer means pine, making it a fantastic name for a grass type. Now, let's go on to the interesting part. While I was level up grinding, I actually caught yet another shiny ponyta. Yes... an actual shiny I could use in the nuzlocke if I wanted to. I'm a little mad though, as I took 300+ tries to get a shiny on my non-nuzlocke account and I got one here on a combo of 24 while trying to level up the crew. I named the ponyta Miles in honor of Phoenix's rival in Ace Attorney though honestly I should consider swapping the names of my two ponyta as Phoenix wears blue in the game and Miles wears red. After I was satisfied with the levels of my Pokémon, I challenged Koga's gym. I'm not done with it yet though, and I've only fought 2 trainers in it.

December 31 2020:
I finished up Koga's gym with Nano nearly dying to a SINGLE explosion when he was at least 3 levels HIGHER than the weezing. Yes this is the kind of luck I have in these nuzlockes... Ivysaur appearing when I swap flamethrowers out, encountering no more haunter after learning shadow ball... Pokémon getting poisoned on the first hit of a gunk shot you name it. Luckily, no one died... though many of my Pokémon nearly did despite them having higher levels. Afterwards I just walked around the map, revived Jerry the aerodactyl, collected TMs dream eater and dazzling gleam and some other stuff. I got the judge feature from Professor oak's assistant, and now I guess I'll be doing ev training the next I play.

January 3, 2021:

HAPPY 2021!

Anyways, today I attempted to fight Sabrina. However, when Swift nearly died to the very first kadabra I encountered on one of the random trainers, (and the kadabra was like 2 levels lower and only using psychic?!) I decided to go back to my initial plan of EV training because I realized that Swift's special defense actually sucks.

I forgot what route it is, but it was the route just below Saffron. While I was catching the jigglypuff for their candy, I joked with my sister that if I got a shiny jigglypuff, I would literally shiny hunt in my nuzlocke account after I either win the league or get wiped out along the way. Guess what, I actually caught that shiny jigglypuff at combo 17. It's honestly hilarious that I'm just getting shinies while trying to level up my own Pokémon in my nuzlocke while I've to specifically shiny hunt in my shared account with my sister (also known as the main account) and get a combo of 300+ ponyta before getting a single shiny. Swift hits level 50 after today's grinding... so I'm wondering if I should attempt the gym again the next I play. I don't know when that would be cause this year is going to be kinda busy for myself.

By the way, I named the Jigglypuff Lotta cause I resolve to name all my shinies after Ace Attorney characters. (At least those caught during the nuzlocke)

9 January 2021:
Today I decided to hunt seel for the courage candy that came with it. This is because courage candy helps with special defense which is needed on swift. As a bonus, blubber would be able to make good use of those seel candies. Due to my last two hunts resulting in surprise shinies, me and my sister had a bet on the combo number for shiny seel. She bet 23 and I bet 25... but neither have us the shiny seel. I continued catching, and felt like giving up on 50 cause I only get roughly an hour of play per session. However since my parents were watching videos, my sister insisted that I caught at least 55 seel. So I did... and the 55th was a shiny. Welp, this is a lot less depressing than shiny hunting in the shared account. Anyways... Swift is like level 60+ now so I really should get back to that gym. The shiny seel has been named Pearls.

10 January 2021: I swept 3 gyms today lol. Sabrina, Blaine and Giovanni. Surprisingly, Sabrina was the hardest of the three. Still I'm like 15 levels higher "by accident" so sweeping all three wasn't too big of a problem. Still... I was a little scared due to Giovanni's Nidoking knowing horn drill but it didn't even get the chance to use it so we're fine. (Right now I'm low-key wondering if I should beat the Pokémon league with only shiny Pokémon but it doesn't seem to be too good of an idea...)

January 24: my nuzlocke is officially more than a year old now lol. Today I just fought a few ace trainers for some TMs and tried to clear victory road. (I didn't though, and now I'm stuck in the cave) my two new encounters are Lax the poliwhirl (cause it's nature was lax or something) and a rhyhorn I named Drew cause contestshipping had to be the first thing to come to my mind... If you guys have any better name suggestions for the rhyhorn cause I really should change its name as it's not a shiny and there's an ace attorney fella also named Drew, (Phoenix is an exception as his name mirrors Miles') I would be glad to hear some name suggestions.

January 31: oh no we're already a month into 2021...

Today I cleared out victory road and decided to train new Pokémon to fight the elite four instead because my main team is over leveled...

I didn't catch any shinies today, but miles and pearls have both evolved into rapidash and dewgong respectively. I'm now wondering if I should evolve Lotta as well.

Perhaps I should play the elite 4 with a zero potion rule... (yea I know this sounds like a death wish but my team is just that over leveled alongside the many new Pokémon I'm training currently)

July 3, 2021:
Sooo I finally opened up the nuzlocke again... and fought through the elite 4 and the champion immediately cause I was tired of  training up my shinies. I beat them of course... but I think I would have died if I actually did the no potion rule. Now the question is... um... do I continue the nuzlocke with the Mewtwo plot line or do I just end it here? I guess time would tell. Either way I'll probably do a lot of shiny hunting in this account. Still, I wonder if it's about time I revive New Year and the rest of my team... Also I learned that Let's go probably has a better replay value as compared to sword. Lol this nuzlocke is 1 and a half years old and I haven't even played sword for a year and I'm already kind of bored of that game.

July 4: so... um... I tried fighting mewtwo with nuzlocke rules and Nano died instantly so I decided to do some training before fighting the league and mewtwo again. Currently, I'm in Cerulean cave grinding levels and shiny hunting chansey along the way. Nano didn't mean too much to me even though he was one of the strongest Pokémon I have so... it wasn't too great of a loss at least.
