Wireless Tower Wipeout!
On the way to the tower, a man told us that he saw the 'UFOs' going towards Wireless Tower. Oh, no. They're up to no good! And I have a feeling it has to do with why I can't contact anyone.
When we started going on Mt. Latolato, a man stopped us, saying that no kids were allowed to go up there.
"What are you talking about?" Nema sassed. "Mt. Latolato is a perfectly safe place!"
Boy, I've never seen a kid with this much attitude before! Then this shady guy grinned. "It was. Until we took it over a few days ago."
And then the Ivysaur that he had with him attacked me. They were Pokemon Pinchers. "Nema, stay back!" I warned her. "Capture On!" Then I remembered that my wrist hurt and tried to take it easy.
And the capture began. At one point, the Buizel that wouldn't allow itself to be released started helping me by distracting the Ivysaur from destroying the Capture Line. After we were done capturing it, I rubbed it behind the ears. "You're a good Pokemon. Although I had to chase you down, it was worth it."
"Buuii! Buizel!" It chirped.
The coward ran off, leaving me and Nema. I rolled my eyes. "Coward!" Nema yelled after him.
Then we ran onto a bridge and we both looked out at the sea and sky. While Nema enjoyed looking at the beautiful sky, I was just reminded of the battle in the sky that almost killed me and took my partner away from me. Everything always comes back to that hour, doesn't it?
As soon as Nema's done looking at the sky, we move on. When we make it to the top of the mountain, (Thank Arceus) there was a man in what looked like an Almia Pokemon Ranger outift. He must be that other Ranger! Three Pokemon Pinchers surrounded him as he demanded answers.
One of the Pinchers laughed. "Do you think that we're stupid enough to tell you that just because we're asked?" One said.
"If you don't want to get hurt," Another threatened. "I suggest looking the other way."
I took that as my cue to stand beside the Ranger. Nema latched onto his arm. "Daddy!"
The Pokemon Pinchers and the Ranger were shocked at my sudden arrival. "Look, the Ranger's back-up has arrived!"
"I thought you said that they couldn't ask for back-up because we were-" One started before the two others covered his mouth.
"We just said that we weren't stupid enough to give away our plans. Are you going to make a liar out of us?" The third Pincher hissed.
Then they threatened us, hoping that we didn't notice their slip-up. I filled in the blanks. They were destroying the Tower and I couldn't contact Ben. I couldn't stop myself before I cracked a guy in the face and he fell to the ground.
The other two looked suprised. I cracked my knuckles. "Somebody pull a string, because these puppets aren't talking!" I called to Nema over my shoulder. Then I faced these creeps again. "Tell us what you know."
Instead of answering me, they tried to attack us with Pokemon. I felt a jolt in my left hand. Did I just reopen this wound for the third time this day? Dr. Edward was going to be pissed at me for this... And Ben was going to flip his shit if he saw me burned and cut up like this.
"Capture On!" I yelled. I smirked. I was irritated and hurt, so I was going to use these guys as target practice to vent my frustration. Taking out their Aipom and Stunky was too easy. "Capture Complete!"
The two Pinchers help their fallen comrade up and ran off.
I heard Nema taunting them from behind me, but she was instantly scolded.
"But... I just wanted to help guide the Ranger here who wanted to meet you!" She said, fidgeting with the edge of her lab coat.
The Ranger glanced at me. "I-I see... I'm sorry that I yelled. Let's go talk inside, okay?"
He pointed to a shack behind him. When we got inside, there was a woman who was the spitting image of an adult Nema. I'm pretty sure that's Nema's mom. And there was another guy who was just... There.
Nema introduced me. "Everyone, this is Summer Hitomi! She's a Ranger just like Daddy!" I'm so glad she left out the part that my sister saved Almia. "And she still owes me three requests!" Nema sang the last part.
Great... She was going to hold that over my head, wasn't she? I should've just told her no... Ugh. I hate cute kids.
"Nema, were your three requests really just three selfish demands?" The Ranger demanded.
Yes, I thought.
"No!" Nema said a little too quickly. "Our house was on fire and I asked Summer to put it out!"
I love how she left off the part where it was her fault that the explosion occured. Anyways, while the blue haired woman fussed over Nema's safety, the Ranger addressed me.
"I'm Rand, the Area Ranger for the Oblivia Region." He simply stated. "Thank you for putting out the fire."
I shrugged. "No big deal."
Nema hugged the blue haired woman dressed in business clothes. "This pretty lady is my mom!" She chirped. "She's an archeologist!"
"I'm Leanne. Nice to meet you." She spoke in a kind, gentle way as if I was just as important to her as family. It felt nice to be spoken to like that. She told me that she was interested in studying the Legends of Oblivia and was trying to determine if they were real, or just fabrications of the truth.
I was really interested in what Leanne had to say since I loved Legends, but Nema interrupted her. "Mooooom!" Nema whined. "Keep your introductions to a minimum!"
Leanne looked distraught. "I-I guess so."
I gave her a friendly smile. "I would love to hear all about the Legends of Oblivia and all about your research another time, Mrs. Leanne." I told her. "If you would be so gracious as to inform me."
Leanne smiled appreciatively.
"By the way, the Ranger Union said that they were sending me two Rangers here, but..." Rand stopped for a second. "What happened to the other one? Could you please tell me what the situation is?"
Great, they mentioned Ben. I can't hide this from them, but I don't want to relive that experience again. Reluctantly, I told them my story...
After a few moments of silence, Rand spoke up. "So, that's what happened..." He said in a low tone. "You must be very worried about your partner." I nodded, but he wasn't finished. "But then again, your partner is a well-trained Pokemon Ranger. So, I think your partner will be fine."
Yeah, I have no doubt that Ben could hold his own... But I couldn't help but worry. I give Rand an appreciative smile. These people speak to me soothingly, almost like I'm part of their family. I couldn't ask for a more wonderful gift.
Rand turned serious. "Right now, the Rasp Cavern's monument and the Wireless Tower is worrisome. What are the Pokemon Pinchers planning?" He asked rhetorically. He turned to me. "I think you may have already realized, but the Wireless Tower, which is right next to our shack, has been taken over by the Pokemon Pinchers. As a result, we haven't been able to communicate with the Ranger Union for several days."
I breathed a heavy sigh. Great. So I can't check to see if Ben's okay, and the Ranger Union can't check to see if we're okay... Lovely.
"...That's why I want you, Summer, to help me take back the Tower from the Pokemon Pinchers."
Say WHAT now?!
"Be careful of the unshielded wires on the Wireless Tower or else you might turn into a walking battery." Rand warned.
I nodded. I didn't want more cuts, bruises, and burns than I already did. Ben always made fun of me because I bruise easily.
'You're so delicate!' He had told me. I had replied with a punch to the shoulder. You can't be intimidating and delicate when you're a Pokemon Ranger. I have a hard enough time passing for a Ranger because I'm a short girl (That's also according to Ben.)
"This is a very important Mission." Rand said. My ears perked at the mention of a mission.
"Let's go!" I said, giving him a wide grin. We started up the first set of ladders.
An angry Gligar flew up to me. Rand explained that the Pokemon Pinchers were agitating the Pokemon, and angry Pokemon were harder to catch. I ran past the Gligar and went up the next flight of stairs. I'm gonna have to watch out for angry Pokemon. The next few levels of the Tower were a pain to get through. There were a bunch of Pincher creeps, pissed off Pokemon, and strong wind currents that threatened to blow us off of the Tower, but I eventually made it to the top of the Tower. They really need to put guardrails and walls around this Tower.
I tried to psych myself up for the upcoming battle. I would have Rand as my back-up instead of Ben, and that made me a little uneasy. Of course Rand was a talented Ranger, but I feel closer to Ben. I'd rather have Ben anyday.
At the top, there was a girl dressed in all blue.
"We messed with the frequency and cut off the power. But, to be safe, we should probably take out the antenna, too. That way, they won't be able to communicate with anyone for a while." She said to herself, although it was loud enough for me to hear.
Two Pinchers ran up to her. "Leader!" They cried. I paused. I thought their leader was Red-Eyes, the red-clad jerk who tried to kill Ben! Are there two leaders?
"You're late!" She snapped at them. "Did you get the Emblem?"
Emblem? What Emblem?
"Yes, here it is!" One said smugly as they handed something to the blue-eyed girl.
The other one began to speak, interrupting the thank you that their leader was about to give them. "We do have a small problem, though... Two, as a matter of fact." He said. I recalled him being the one I punched, given the fact that the left side of his face was swollen. "Actually, they're nothing too major."
Oh, really? Next time I'll make sure that I make you regret those words. Or, actually, let them underestimate me. That just makes it easier for me to embarrass them when they taste defeat.
"One is that the Rangers have made it up here." The first started.
"The other is that Raikou is standing right there..." The other finished, pointing over to where we were. I turned to see that Raikou was right beside me.
It roared and lept at the blue-clad girl and her grunts. The grunts bailed on their leader as soon as Raikou came at them, leaving their leader in the dust. I've said it once, I'll say it again... They're all cowards.
The blue-clad girl fumed. "What have those numbskulls done?! They brought Raikou right to us when they were supposed to keep him occupied!" She said, even though she was horrified by the anger of this legendary beast. "These fools can't even do a simple job! They had one job!"
Raikou attacked her with lightning, but the girl lept away from the corner she had backed herself into just in time... And it destroyed the satellite. Now we can't get in touch with the Ranger Union... And I can't contact Ben. Rand and I decided to confront her.
"You must be the leader. What have you been doing here?" Rand demanded.
"You're one step behind, Pokemon Ranger. Raikou broke your precious antenna." She arrogantly said.
"So you're controlling Raikou, huh?" Rand questioned.
I rolled my eyes. No, Rand. We were spying on them and you didn't gather from the fact that Raikou tried to attack her that they aren't on the same side? The antenna was just a casualty, I wanted to scream at him. I was frustrated.
"Oh, please. I'm no Ranger. And, besides, I'm pretty sure even a Ranger would have trouble controlling a Legendary Pokemon." She said as if it was obvious. Which it was, but I guess Rand's senses aren't as sharp as mine. "Anyways, we destroyed the tower, so my work is done. There's no reason for me to stick around... So, ta-ta!" She hopped onto a blue Z.Z. Flyer that had been resting against the side of the structure that kept the antenna stable.
"Wait!" Rand yelled as she rose into the air. "Why did you destroy the antenna?" That was a stupid question. The Pokemon Pinchers obviously didn't want us to call for more reinforcements.
"I hate electromagnetic waves. Is that a good enough reason for you?" She said as if she was bored of the topic.
"Wait!" I softly called out. The girl seemed shocked by my soft tone. "Can you at least tell us your name? Y'know... We need to put a name with a face."
"What a strange request..." The blue girl mumbled. Then she offered a smirk. "The name's Blue Eyes." Then she rode off.
We heard another roar as the angry Raikou turned to its next unfortunate victim. And that victim happened to be me.
