Becoming a Family pt2
Another day passed as Luffy and her Pokémon finished another day of training.
Then she decided to look over her Contest Ribbons while Reminiscing those memories.
"Hey, what's those?" Sabo asked.
"Oh, these are my Contest Ribbons, my Pokémon and I won them in Pokémon Contests." Luffy showed him.
"What is a Pokémon Contest?" Sabo asked.
"A Pokémon Contest is divided into two parts. In the first round, called the Performance Stage, Coordinators have their Pokémon performing their moves in order to showcase their style and skill. The appeals are awarded points by a panel of judges, usually formed by Mr. Contesta from the organizing committee, Mr. Sukizo from the Pokémon Fan Club, and the Nurse Joy from the local Pokémon Center. The Coordinators with the highest scores proceed to the next round. The number of Coordinators that advance to the second round varies. The second round is the Battle Stage, in which Coordinators compete in Pokémon battles while continuing to show off their Pokémon's style and skill. Each battle lasts five minutes and the object of the battle is to decrease the opponent's points. Coordinators lose points when their Pokémon are hit by an attack, when their Pokémon's attack fails, when the opponent's Pokémon performs a particularly appealing move, or when the opponent's Pokémon uses their Pokémon's attack to its own advantage. A battle can also end when one of the Pokémon is unable to battle, called Battle Off by the judges. In this case, the Coordinator with the remaining Pokémon is declared the winner." Luffy explains.
"And you win a ribbon?" Ace asked.
"Yeah, Coordinators who win five Ribbons of a specific region are able to enter that region's Grand Festival.
Winners of the Grand Festival earn the Ribbon Cup and become Top Coordinators. I entered Pokémon Contests when I was 11. Although conditions can vary by region. In Hoenn, Coordinators have to use the same Pokémon for both rounds—although there are exceptions—and the master of ceremonies is Vivian Meridian. In Kanto, Coordinators may enter different Pokémon for each round and the master of ceremonies is Lilian Meridian. In Sinnoh, Coordinators may enter different Pokémon for each round and generally dress up to compete, though it seems this is not a strict requirement, as seen with Princess Salvia. They also use Ball Capsules and Seals to enhance a Pokémon's entrance. Pokémon Contests in the Sinnoh region include both Single and Double Performances, with the Grand Festival featuring the Double Performance format. The master of ceremonies for these events is Marian."
"And you won a Grand Festival?" Sabo asked.
"I won four Grand Festivals." Luffy said as she pointed to four trophies in the secret base.
"Wow!" Sabo said amazed, though Ace didn't look too impressed.
"How is a Pokémon Contest differ from a Battle?" He asked.
Luffy smiled. "I can show you." She said taking out a Pokeball with a seal.

Outside, Luffy got ready.
"Dutchess, Spotlight time!" Luffy said as a elegant feline Pokémon emerged with floating hearts and stars.
Sabo took this as a chance to look at the Pokedex.
"Delcatty, the Prim Pokémon, a Normal type and the evolved form of Skitty.
Delcatty prefers to live an unfettered existence in which it can do as it pleases at its own pace. Because this Pokémon eats and sleeps whenever it decides, its daily routines are completely random. It is highly popular among Trainers for its sublime fur."
"Alright, first up, Dutchess, Assist!"
Dutchess meowed as she did a got an Aurora Beam out, and a second Assist with Petal Dance and Sweet Scent.
"Great, now Freeze the petals with Ice Beam then smash them with Swift!" Luffy said as Dutchess did so and the Swift made the Icy Petals shatter into Sparkling particles as Luffy and Dutchess finished their performance.
"Wow! That was so cool!" Sabo clapped.
Ace was actually impressed too. It was spectacular.
"Hold your applause till you see Dewgong create a Winter Wonderland." Luffy said.

Then Ace asked her about her Pokémon Battles as she showed her gym badges.
"Pokémon Gyms are places where Trainers can go to sharpen their battling skills and where their Pokémon can go to gain experience.
Often specializing in a particular type, Gyms create an environment which allows Trainers to test both their skills and Pokémon against those of others. The most powerful Trainer in a given Gym is called the Gym Leader, who is revered by both the lower-ranking members of the Gym and local fans. Usually, Gyms are designed to follow and suit the type that the Gym specializes in, such as Wattson's Gym that has electric gates to indicate that it is Electric. However, there are also Gyms that do not practice this, such as Viridian Gym or Cinnabar Gym.
Official Gyms are certified by a Pokémon League, and at least eight official Gym Badges are requested before taking the Pokémon League challenge. Gyms are vital to a Pokémon Trainer's journey; they may have to travel far and wide, as there can only be one Gym per city." Luffy explained as she showed her badges.
"Wow! All these badges are so cool!" Ace said examining them.
And the two boys were amazed by her trophies as well.
