"Sorry for bothering you again, Paul. But thank you. Seriously," I said, burying my hurt pride at having Paul see me at my worst and bowing towards his turned back. Paul sniffed audibly at me and I slowly straightened to see him giving me a small frown.

"You'll never make it as a trainer if you let fear rule you," he said with a stern expression and I nodded slowly.

"I can handle it if it's an opponent in a battle," I muttered, trying my best to glare up at him. He just let out an unconvinced snort though and turned, walking away from me and towards the Pokemon Center. Not wanting him to think I was following him, I decided to make my way to the gym first to register for my gym challenge first thing tomorrow.

The next day I challenged the fairy type gym and, to my shock, Cufant evolved into a massive Copperajah. At nearly ten feet tall, she was the biggest pokemon I had ever trained, and to my delight when we faced the Glimwood Tangle this time she lifted me onto her back and we traveled through the creepy woods without bumping into a single ghost type.

Sayuri goes on to do very well in the qualifier cup, but she loses in the semi-final against a trainer that specializes in ghost types. After her defeat, she runs into Paul on his way to the finals and he gives her a disapproving look before leaving her behind without a word.
