You wake up and get out of bed i.e. your sleeping bag! Yes, you live in a tent, that's just how life works, deal with it.

Now you look like a pig who rolled around in the mud for 20 minutes, go to your bag and change. You don't want to go to the professor like that do you? Change! For the love of Arceus!

After changing, leave your tent, and head for the professor.

(Town:)

*Once at the Professor's house* You enter the Professor's house and immediately think to yourself about your past life decision like being born.

The Professor greets you and he lets you meet his son (Your rival).

Then he'll introduce your guide (You chose them before you started the game). Lastly, you'll choose your starter. You get options from Gen 1-Gen 8. This'll also determine your Rival's starter. Don't forget your pokedex!

Then you'll go outside and your guide will start talking. They'll actually explain the Menu. They'll suggest you enter it (X) before they do a quick explanation on everything. Then they'll suggest heading for the exit for more info.

Once you leave town, you'll be pulled into another tutorial session. Your guide will explain the signboards and tall grass before suggesting a catching-a-pokemon introduction. Unlike 90% of pokemon games where they do it all for you (Except Pokemon Uranium, where you get a little more realistic view of the same thing), this is the tutorial for catching a pokemon.

First they'll pull you into the grass, getting jumped by a Bidoof.
Then they'll introduce sending out a pokemon. (They'll say that later they'll show something interesting after you get more pokemon)
Next they'll ask you to select Moves and then your Pokemon's Attack move.
Finally (After they show some attitude towards Bidoof's return attack) they'll ask you to enter your Bag, then the Pokeballs, then to select a Pokeball.
After you successfully capture the Bidoof, they'll pull you out of the grass and send the Bidoof back to the professor. They'll suggest you check Bidoof's entry in your Pokedex (Not required).

After that, you can move forward to your first trainer battle. If you chose to get some more pokemon for the optional tutorial, here are your options.

Upon nearing your first trainer, your guide will instantly explain how this works. Basically, you will be faced against another person and will have to see who is stronger. Whoever wins pays the other. If you lose, you will blackout and appear at the last place you healed/rested. Similar to the wild pokemon battle, only you must knock out the other pokemon. Then you'll be allowed to start battles.

You can either catch pokemon or battle trainers before you head for the next town. Here are the trainers.

Afterwards, you'll be allowed into the next town.
