"Team Volt's back in town!" said a somewhat crazy citizen of the small town of LitenBy. Crowds of crazed Pokémon swarmed around. Pikachu was one of those crazed citizens.

The entire Investigation Society left the building to see this "Team Volt" that was being spoken about. Snivy followed Pikachu through the crowd. They shoved their way to the front of the crowd. It had made a circle around the group of Team Volt. Minun and Plusle, the two members, were practically identical. They both were small mouse like creatures and shared a little bit of similarity with Pikachu. Minun was white and blue, but Plusle was white and red. They're leader, Manectric (see picture above,) was a blue dog with lightning yellow fur.

Manectric let out a mighty roar, "What's up! It's time for Team Volt!" Pikachu started hyperventilating with excitement. Snivy rolled her eyes.

"Sorry we've kept you waiting for 11 years! We were just finishing up a tough mission!" shouted Plusle. Snivy wondered if it had really been that long.

"Anyway, we've prepared a little show for you all since we were gone so long!" yelled Minun.

The show started with Minun and Plusle using thunder wave on Manectric (who's ability is lightning rod) creating a yellow electric ring around him. Manectric then jumped into the air. Minun and Plusle used helping hand. Manectric then summoned a mighty thunder bolt from the sky. It crashed down on the ground. Rocks and dirt flew everywhere.

"Aren't they amazing!" Pikachu said with excitement. He looked at Snivy. Snivy looked away.

"They're a bunch of show offs if you ask me," said Snivy. Minun and Plusle then launched volt switch. It hit Snivy head on, blowing her back into a rock wall. Pikachu turned around.

"Did you see that volt switch!" Pikachu yelled. He looked back at Snivy, whom he just realized was smashed into a rock. Manectric ended the show with one last mighty roar. The crowd cheered. After the show ended, a few people stuck around for a little bit longer, but in about ten minutes, the crowd had left. Pikachu and Snivy walked back to the Society together.

"They were just as great as before!" Pikachu said. He had watched Team Volt perform with his dad about 12 years ago. Team Volt was the Pokémon Investigation Society's second highest ranked team.

"They don't actually do anything but go on occasional missions and perform flashy shows," said Snivy.

"Is somebody jealous?" Pikachu said with a grin. Snivy punched him and sent him flying sideways into a nearby tree.

They arrived at the Society. All of the members had gathered around a table. Team Volt was at that table. Azumarill was asking a question to Manectric until Pikachu barged in.

"Manectric, you're back!" he shouted. Manectric turned around.

"Oh you must be new," he said.

"He joined just about three days ago," said Azumarill.

"So where have you been all this time?" asked Snivy. She seemed a bit suspicious.

"We were on a very long investigation. The thing went on and on. Information on the criminals came slowly," said Plusle. Snivy murmured and walked away.

"Listen, we love the questions, but we really need some rest," said Minun. Everyone nodded yes and walked away.  The day continued on as normal.

Pikachu rushed in to work. He had been waiting all night to see Team Volt. Pikachu ignored the doors again and ran over to Team Volt. They were standing at the request board and talking to Azumarill. Azumarill smiled and handed them a request paper. Team Volt approached the door where Pikachu was standing.

"How's it going?" asked Manectric as he passed by.

"Good! Now I'd like to ask. Can I come on a mission with you?" said Pikachu eagerly.

"Sure you can..." Minun was cut off by Manectric.

"Er... Not today kid. Sorry," said Manectric.

Pikachu hinted that he was disappointed, "Oh okay. Tomorrow maybe?" Team Volt had walked away already. The next day he asked again, "Can I come with today?" Once again Manectric cut Minun off and said no. The next time he asked, it was a week later. Team Volt had been gone on another lengthy mission.

"Can I please, please, please come with!" Pikachu begged. Finally, Manectric gave in. Pikachu cheered. Snivy overheard.

"I'm coming with you guys," she said. Manectric wanted to decline, but there was no saying no to Snivy. They walked along a dirt road through a canyon type of area (not Dark Canyon.) They reached a cave in the canyon.

"So we're supposed to grab some rare jewels located in the deepest part of the cave. Seems simple enough," said Minun. They marched into the dark cave. Manectric used his electric yellow glow as a light. He walked in front. Pikachu followed with Snivy from right behind. Minun and Plusle kept up in the back. They walked through the surprisingly dry dusty cave. Minun signaled which way to go. They took a left. A low moan came from the path in front of them. Manectric stopped them. A large Onix  came into view. It was staring right at them. Nobody moved.

"Back away slowly," whispered Manectric. They backed away slowly. Plusle tripped on a rock and fell.

"Ouch!" she yelled. Plusle's cry echoed through the cave. The Onix let out another loud moan and began moving towards them. Pikachu, Snivy, and Team Volt began running away. The Onix started to build up speed. It roared through them like a train. Minun and Plusle were blown to the left. Manectric, Snivy, and, Pikachu flew to the right. A wall of rock piled in between them.

Manectric? Where are you guys?" yelled Minun and Plusle.

"We're over on the other side of the rocks!" Pikachu yelled. Snivy tried to move the rocks. It was no use. The rocks were packed to tight.

"Let's work back to the exit and meet up there," yelled Pikachu. Minun and Plusle agreed. This time Pikachu led with Manectric and Snivy following him. He claimed that he memorized the map before they had been separated from Minun and Plusle. They walked along. Pikachu asked an occasional question, but Manectric kept quiet. Snivy kept staring suspiciously at Manectric. Pikachu stopped them. Up ahead was the Onix. This time he was sleeping. Pikachu could see the exit right behind the Onix. Daylight was coming through. Pikachu kicked a rock by accident. It made an echo through the cave. The Onix moaned, but it didn't move.

Pikachu whispered, "We'll quietly climb over him." Snivy nodded. Pikachu waited for Manectric to respond. He looked back. Manectric was nowhere to be found.

Pikachu forgot the situation and shouted, "Manectric where are you?" It echoed and echoed. Pikachu thought with would never end. The Onix got up and saw Pikachu and Snivy. It roared at them, and started waving its large rocky tail around causing rocks to fall. Pikachu and Snivy rushed around dodging rocks. They found a nearby rock that acted as a cover. They quickly rushed behind the dusty rock. They were catching their breath and sitting down. They heard the sound of crying. Little did they know that next to them was Manectric. He didn't realize that they were their. Pikachu was shocked.

"Manectric?" he yelled. Manectric looked over. He continued to cry.

"What's wrong man? You're the leader of one of the strongest teams out there? What's going on?" asked Pikachu.

"Lies!" yelled Manectric.

"All lies," he repeated. Pikachu was concerned.

"What do you mean lies?" he asked.

"Minun and Plusle are the real fighters!" yelled Manectric. He was still crying.

"But it doesn't make sense," said Pikachu.

"Minun and Plusle do all the fighting. All I do is put on a big show," said Manectric.

"Then how are you leader?" asked and awestruck Pikachu.

"Minun and Plusle said I should be the leader. Nobody respected them as a real team until I joined and became their new leader. I can't step down. Minun and Plusle would lose everything, but I can't do this. I just can't do this," said Manectric. Tears fell to the dry ground. The three sat there quietly. They heard the sound of the rampaging Onix, but then it suddenly stopped. Snivy peeked out to see Minun and Plusle searching for them. They had chased the Onix away. Manectric, Snivy, and Pikachu all ran out to them. They made it out and walked home. They arrived at the Society by night. The mission to obtain the jewels was passed on to Team Fairy Wind.

The next day, Pikachu didn't see Team Volt at work. The next week Team Volt never showed up. Pikachu ran up to local shopkeeper, Sableye. Sableye was a purple creature with two shiny jewels for eyes. He had very twitchy movement.

"What can I do for you?" he asked in a whispery voice.

Pikachu answered, "I'd like a house?"

Sableye was surprised, "That's expensive! Theirs not much available houses in LitenBy right know!" Sableye let out a suspicious laugh.

"Come in, and we can talk about a deal," he said.
