- Ten years later -

"Sarada! Can you move any faster?"

"Will you shut up and let me get dressed?!" Sarada shouted from her room.

"Don't make me barge in there and drag you down myself!"

"Leave me alone!"

She heard banging on her closed door, "Hey!! Is that how you speak to your mother?! Open this stupid door before I break it down myself!"

"Pssh... Sure. I'd love to see you try, Mom." Sarada rolled her eyes as she buttoned her shirt.

There was more banging, then panting, "Alright, Sarada. You win. It's not that I can't break the door or anything... It's just that... Just get down here." There were footsteps, then she was gone.

"Stupid..." Sarada muttered as she slipped her red glasses in front of her eyes and finally unlocked and opened her door. She ran down the stairs and into the kitchen, where she saw her redhead mom washing the dishes.

"Hey. Boruto called again. He wanted to meet you, then added that you'd know where." She adjusted her own red glasses before continuing to rinse the plate she held.

"Fine. I'm going, then." Sarada muttered as she walked out the door, not taking a glance back.

She ran down the streets of the Hidden Cloud Village, which, ironically, didn't have a single cloud in the sky. She chuckled to herself and continued to run, passing by so many different people she knew so well... And their Pokémon. She stopped to admire a small red Pokémon that happened to look like a cherry.

"Hi there!" Sarada knelt down to pet it, "what's your name?"

"This is Cherubi." The woman smiled.

"Oh!" Sarada smiled, then saw another pretty pink Pokémon hopping next to it, "How about this one? It's so pretty!"

"This is Cherim, one of the two evolutions of Cherubi." The woman explained as the Cherim happily hopped up to Sarada.

"Her petals are so pretty, they're like the petals of a sakura tree. I love sakura!" Sarada laughed as she pet both Pokémon, "well, I'm off! Thank you, Miss!" She waved to her and the Pokémon as she continued to run towards the usual meeting place.

"You WHAT?! Why do you keep calling that girl?! You like her don't you? Well guess what! There will be no girls running around this house, anytime soon!"

"Well, she's not even going to be INSIDE the house, Juugo, you dumb bird!"

"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME?!"

"Yeah! DUMB BIRD!"

"IS THAT REALLY THE BEST YOU COULD COME UP WITH?! IF YOU'RE GOING TO COME UP WITH A NAME FOR ME, AT LEAST MAKE IT MENACING!"

"Heck, no! You want a better name? How about as--"

"OKAY.... Settle down, children... Yeesh. Grow up, you two. Especially you, Juugo. You're already an adult..."

"Whatever, Suigetsu." Juugo huffed as Suigetsu only shrugged and took a sip from his water bottle.

"Hmph. I didn't need you to save me, Suigetsu..." Boruto sneered.

"Look, Kid. You need to grow up, too." Suigetsu patted Boruto's shoulder as he walked past him, but stopped and turned back to him, "Oh yeah. If you're really meeting up with that Sarada girl, at least meet her outside the house, where Juugo won't see her. He's going through one of those phases again..."

"Whatever." Boruto muttered as he left the house, slamming the door extra loud behind him. He stopped and turned around to see Juugo in the backyard, arms full of birds, "yeesh. That guy is bipolar, I swear..."

Boruto calmly walked down the streets of the village, headed towards the usual meeting spot, under a tree in the furthest training fields. The most private area they could meet. No, not just him and Sarada of course. But when he got there, Sarada and his other two friends were waiting there for him.

"Boruto! You finally made it!"

"Hey Rin." Boruto waved as he walked up to the group.

"Took you too long, Idiot." Sarada spat.

"Well excuse me for getting out of Suigetsu and Juugo's hair... Or more like getting them out of my hair..." Boruto shivered at the thought of Juugo, then turned to the fourth member and held his fist out for him to bump.

"Obito Uchiha." Boruto grinned as Obito gave him the fist-bump he was waiting for.

"So what'd you call us here for?" Obito asked.

"Well." Boruto planted his hands on his hips, "Stupid Suigetsu and Juugo have told me so many times that I can't start a Pokémon journey of my own."

Sarada eyed him carefully, "So what? You called us here to complain to us? You're so annoying..."

"No. Let me finish..." Boruto cleared his throat, then smiled eat-to-ear, "Screw them! I never listened or liked either of them! That's why I'm going to go get my own Pokémon myself!"

"Really?" Rin smiled, "then I'm going to get one too!"

"You in, Obito?"

"You bet!"

"Sarada!"

They all turned to her, but she only looked down at her feet, "my mom doesn't want me to get a Pokémon."

"Pssh. You call her your mom? She doesn't even look like you!" Obito laughed.

"Well, the glasses are the same..." Rin pointed to her eyes.

"Well, still. I don't want to go against her wishes." Sarada crossed her arms.

Boruto smirked and walked up to Sarada, "maybe you can become the new champion! We can travel around Konoha, the four of us! And we'll travel to the greatest village, the Hidden Leaf Village, where the Elite 4 and Champion are waiting for us!"

Sarada rose an eyebrow, "what do we have to do?"

"Well, all we gotta do is beat eight gyms around Konoha." Boruto shrugged.

"Hn. Sounds like too much work." Sarada leaned against the tree.

"Come on, Sarada! Wouldn't it be fun to travel around Konoha? Get out of this village?" Rin urged her.

"Hm." Sarada looked at them, then sighed, "fine. But Boruto... Where do you plan on starting?"

"Huh?" Boruto stared at her, "ugh, you're right. No point in asking Suigetsu or Juugo... They'd say no. Hm. Ask around the village sounds like our best bet..."

"Good. Then it's settled." Rin grinned and nodded in excitement, "I'm gonna go now!"

"Best stay away from Miss Uzumaki, too..." Obito added, "along with Suigetsu and Juugo."

"Yeah." Boruto nodded, then grabbed Sarada's arm, "let's go! We've got a lot of people in the village to cover!"

Sarada sighed, but went with the rest of the group. This was the day they'd finally get their first Pokémon, as she's always dreamed. But of course, she never let them know that.

"Ha... Ha... Anything?" Boruto panted once the four of them met at the front of a dumpling shop.

"No..." Rin sighed, "But I did hear that we can get a Pokemon from the sensei at the Pokemon Academy."

"Right! We'll go there! Good work, Rin!" Obito laughed, "uh, where's the academy?"

"... At the Hidden Leaf Village..." Rin groaned, "which is basically on the complete other side of Konoha..."

"We're not going all that way!" Obito shouted.

"I think it really is worth it, though..." Boruto shrugged, "So let's go. Not like anyone will care if we're gone."

"Well there's no way we can do it." Obito shook his head, "my mom would kill me."

"Me too..." Rin nodded.

"Yeah, uh, I'll just take a bowl of ramen please..."

The four heard a man ordering in the dumpling shop.

"Sorry, Sir. We don't sell ramen."

"What? Then you should open a ramen shop, here." The man stood up, "if you don't have it, then I'm not staying." He turned and left, then spotted the four kids sitting outside the shop.

"Hey, Mister! Do you know where we can get a Pokémon?" Obito asked.

"Hm..." He started thinking, then smirked, "i think I could make that work."

"Huh?" Rin tilted her head, "do you know something?"

The man laughed, "know something? I'm Iruka Umino, the Pokémon sensei from the Hidden Leaf Village!"

Boruto's jaw dropped as he pointed at Iruka, "GAH!! How blind could I be!!! It is! It's Iruka-Sensei, the great Pokémon sensei! We want a Pokémon! Please let us have one!"

"Sorry, Kid. I could give you one... If you had your parent's permission."

"Oh.... We can't do that..." Boruto coughed.

"No permission, no Pokémon. Sorry." Iruka shrugged and walked off.

"Dang it!" Boruto stomped his foot into the dirt road, "this is stupid..."

"Well, we tried." Sarada shrugged.

"No! We're not giving up that easily!" Boruto ran after Iruka to the entrance gates, "hey Mister! What if I make you a deal?"

"A deal?"

"Yeah! Let me choose a Pokémon. And if I beat you in a Pokémon battle, you let all four of us have a Pokémon and let us start our Pokémon journey, right here, right now!"

Iruka smirked, "hm. Is that so?"

"Boruto..." Rin whispered.

"Come on!" Boruto clenched his fists.

"Well, if you insist..." Iruka pulled off his backpack and zipped it open, pulling out fourteen Poké balls.

"Haha!" Boruto's eyes sparkled as he looked at the array.

"Okay. Take your pick."

Boruto picked up a couple, dropped them
and gazed at the others, "this one!"

He tossed the ball and out came a yellow chick-like Pokémon.

Boruto stared at it, "What is this?"

"Ah. You chose Torchic?"

"Tor!" The Torchic hopped up to Boruto, rubbing its head on against Boruto's leg.

"This is interesting, but it'll have to do." Boruto nodded, "Alright, let's go then, Torchic!"

"Ha. You chose a fire type, huh?"

"What?"

Iruka laughed, "so you want a Pokémon, but you don't even understand the basics?"

"Oh, Boruto..." Rin mutered.

"You idiot..." Sarada shook her head, "you chose a fire-type, strong against grass-type, weak against water-type."

"Wow, didn't know you knew so much about this, Sarada." Obito turned to her, and she only shrugged.

"In that case." Iruka reached behind him, and Boruto saw the four Poké balls on his belt, "Go, Oshawott!"

"Oshawott? That's a water-type. It'll be strong against your Torchic, Boruto. Be careful." Obito told him.

"You're smart." Iruka nodded, "but let's see how you do. Oshawott, razor shell!"

"Boruto, tell it to use a move!" Rin shouted.

"U-uh, I don't know any moves..." Boruto stuttered.

"Ngh..." Sarada gritted her teeth in anger, then suddenly ran forward and shoved Boruto to the side,"Torchic, ember, then dodge it!"

Torchic nodded, opened its beak, and spit balls of fire at the opposing Oshawott. The Oshawott jumped out of the way, but lost accuracy, then slashed its razor shell through the air.

"Nice! Thanks Sarada!" Boruto turned to her, and she only nodded.

"Now." She pointed at Torchic, "the best you can do now is avoid Oshawott's attacks, because Torchic's moves aren't as effective right now. Try tackle once you see openings."

"Right." Boruto nodded and stepped forward, "let's keep this up, Torchic!"

"Fine. Play it that way." Iruka laughed, "then Oshawott, water gun!"

"No, Torchic! Dodge it!" Boruto shouted, but Oshawott was too fast. Torchic tried to jump out of the way, but the jet of water hit it.

"Boruto...." Sarada shook her head, "you idiot..."

"Torchic!" Boruto shouted and ran to its side. Torchic had been drenched in water and was laying on the ground, barely awake., "C'mon, Torchic, stay with me... We have to get through this..." He ran up to it, took off his own jacket, and started drying Torchic with it.

"Boruto..." His three friends watched him sadly as he tried to help it.

"Hmph." Iruka shut his eyes and smiled, "I may have beat you..."

"I'll challenge you again!" Boruto shouted, getting up and holding Torchic in his arms.

"No." Iruka shook his head, "there's no point."

Boruto stared at him in horror. But was shocked when Iruka just smiled, "there's no point because I'm giving it to you. You showed me that you care for this Torchic. Sure, you may not know anything yet, but you'll learn." He nodded, then turned to the others, "you too. Sarada, is it? You showed your skill on the battlefield. I'll happily let you choose your first Pokémon. Congratulations!"

They all turned to look at each other, smiling.

"So which Pokémon will you three choose?" Iruka held the bag open for them as they looked through the balls.

"Ooh! Ooh! This one's mine!" Rin smiled as she chose one, then tossed the Poke ball and let it out. This Pokémon looked like a small green creature on four legs with a leaf on its head.

"This is Chikorita." Iruka introduced the adorable Pokémon.

"How about this one? This one reminds me of myself, actually." Obito laughed as he stood next to a small monkey with a flame on the end of its tail.

"That would be Chimchar." Iruka nodded, then turned to Sarada, who held a small blue penguin, "and you chose Piplup."

"Ha, you chose a cute one, eh Sarada?" Boruto snickered.

"Shut up." Sarada crossed her arms, "I've wanted this one for the longest time."

"So you did want a Pokémon after all, huh?"

"Hn." Sarada looked away, "let's just get going."

Iruka turned away from them, "alright. I'm off. I wish you four luck."

"Wait! You need to explain how this whole thing is going to work..." Boruto muttered.

"Oh right, because you don't really know where you're starting, do you?"

"Well... I know the basics of challenging eight gyms..." Boruto chuckled, "but that's about it."

"Just know that you need money to go out and buy your own Poké balls, if you want to catch more Pokémon, oh and potions, repels, and other medicines would be fairly useful too." Iruka explained, "oh. And one more thing. Stay away from anyone suspicious."

"Huh?"

Iruka turned to them, his face serious with concern, "there have been sightings and news of an evil Pokémon organization going around stealing Pokémon. You want to stay clear of them, especially for newbies like you. They just mean trouble."

"Well, that's okay!" Boruto clenched his fist and smiled, "we'll become the strongest trainers in Konoha, and we'll crush that evil organization! I've been dreaming of this day for so long now, I can hardly wait! Let's go, Torchic!" Boruto began running past Iruka and the others, his Torchic following close behind.

"Wait, you idiot!" Sarada shouted, "do you even know where you're going?!"

"Where do you think? The first gym! Just outside the Hidden Cloud Village!" Boruto called as he continued running.

"Gosh, what an idiot..." Sarada laughed as she, Rin, and Obito ran after him.

Obito turned and waved to Iruka, "Thanks again mister!"

Iruka nodded, waved, and laughed to himself, "These kids are very promising... But... They can't be... Haha. I'm probably just seeing things." With that, Iruka headed down the path in a different direction, headed back to the Hidden Leaf Village.

"Legendary Pokémon, huh?" The redhead tapped her glasses, "that doesn't sound like a bad idea..."

"That, and... World domination? We can rule the entire Pokémon world." A man standing deep in the shadows of a secret underground hideout spoke with an intense voice.

"Well why haven't we heard of your group before?" The white-haired man smirked his toothy grin.

The man only chuckled, "we have been working in the shadows the past five years, and now, we are ready to come out, now that we are close enough. We have caught almost one legendary Pokémon from each region, trio, and pair around the world. With their power, we can take the rest."

"Hm. Karin?"

Karin nodded, then turned back to the two men, "But... Suigetsu, Juugo, what about Sarada and Boruto?"

"Eh." Suigetsu only scoffed, "they ran first. There's no point."

"You know their parents." Juugo whispered, "you know what they could do to us if they--"

"You know, with a legendary Pokémon, there's no need to worry." The man interrupted, "so... Do we have a deal?"

Karin turned to look at Juugo and Suigetsu, sighed, then nodded, "we're in."

"Good..." The man with orange hair nodded, "we will get you your Pokémon. And welcome to the Akatsuki."
