It's been a beautiful day in the country as our heroes march towards the Gym and Contest in Mahogany Town. The long road ahead wines endlessly through the valley when suddenly...

"Its a town! We can see a town!" Takato and Mairin cheered from the back of Takato's Arcanine. "A town!"

"Arrrr!" A familiar Pokémon voice was heard.

"Nine?" Arcanine blinked.

"Huh?" The gang and Volkner looked behind them and saw another Arcanine.

The gang and Volkner moved to the side as the other Arcanine ran past them and they saw Gary Oak riding past them.

"Huh? Gary!" Yuna said, surprised.

Gary eyed backwards and was surprised, "Huh? Woah!" He told his Arcanine.

"Gah! It's Gary no Baka!" Takato exclaimed, pointing at him.

Gary got an angry mark, "It's Gary!" He calmed down, "... Hello. It's been awhile since we last saw each other."

"Hello to you too and yes it has." Yuna said.

"Nine." Takato's Arcanine came up to them.

Gary looked at the two kids and the saddle on the legendary Pokémon back, he raised an eyebrow, confused but didn't ask.

"What are you doing with that skateboard?" Mairin asked, curiously.

"Well, Arcanine and I are getting ready for the big race, we're going to enter it." Gary responses.

"Big race?" Yuna questioned.

"Yep! Gotta go." Gary said and looked at his legendary Pokémon, "Let's go Arcanine."

"Nineee!" Gary's Arcanine dashes off, pulling it's trainer with him.

"Eh! Wait!" Yuna called out, "You didn't explain!"

Alain saw something, "Well, it seems like a lot of people are entering this big race." He told them.

"Huh?" The others turned to side and saw many people with their Pokémon.

"Goooo!" Gary's voice was heard.

"Faster Granbull!" A male trainer ordered.

"Granbull!"

"A little higher Scyther." Another trainer said.

"Scytheerrr!"

"Well, talk about your radical sports." Brock said.

"Wah, it seems dangerous, doesn't it?" Mairin questioned.

"To both?" Takato added.

The gang and Volkner had a meal in a restaurant in Eggseter Town.

"That hit the spot." Takato patted his stomach.

Yuna was in thought.

Alain and Volkner both notice this.

"Still thinking about the race?" Volkner asked.

"Huh?" Yuna looked up seeing how the others were looking at her, "Yeah. Seems like fun but what is the race exactly?"

"It's called the Extreme Pokémon Race." A voice answered.

"!" The gang looked to the side and saw an mid old man sitting beside Brock.

"Excuse sir. But you said, 'Extreme Pokémon'?" Brock questioned.

"That's right. It has become to most popular sport in Eggseter Town. In ancient times, riding Pokémon was an necessity. Now it's reversed for the annual competition." The man explained.

"What's the competition about sir?" Yuna asked.

"Each trainer rides a skateboard that is pulled by a special Pokémon and a race to the finish line." The man explains, "And tomorrow is the best part of the competition, the Championship Event." He had a happy smile expression, "People comes to watched the race from miles and miles away."

"Gary." Brock said.

"Seems like it." Takato said.

"Seems like a interesting fun event to participate in." Yuna chirped in, then frowned, "Though, I don't even have the right equipment for the race."

"Also you need practice." Alain said. Though knowing their girlfriend she adapts to it very fast.

"I can help you with that young lady." The man offered.

"Pika." Light smiled.

"Really?! Thank you." Yuna bowed.

☁️ 🌈 — [Break Scene] — 🌈 ☁️

Yuna, Alain, Brock and Volkner were now riding on a cart with the man and a Taruos was pulling it.

Takato and Mairin rode on the back of Takato's Arcanine once again.

"Allow me to introduce myself to you kids. My name is Tamazō Shellby." The man introduces himself to the gang. "And I ran a Pokémon Day Care Area in these parts."

[A/N: Japanese Name: Tamazō. English Name: Mr. Shellby.]

"I'm Yuna."

"My name is Takato, her younger brother."

"Alain."

"My name is Mairin, his younger sister."

"Volkner."

"And I'm Brock."

"It's nice to meet you all." Tamazō said.

"Wahh, we get to see baby Pokémon's once again." Mairin squealed.

"Yeah, can't wait." Takato grinned.

Yuna was sitting on the back of the cart, with Alain and Volkner on either side of her, she spotted two Pokémon, "Look, baby Wooper's by down the pond." She pointed out.

"Pika~" Light smiled.

"Just hatched them last week." Tamazō told the gang.

"What a beautiful area. With fresh air and fertile soil. Prefect place to raise Pokémon." Brock complimented on the environment.

"Its probably because of that has been nesters in these parts for years." Tamazō explained, "That house there is a Pokémon Day Care and look, that one too."

The gang looked around and saw many houses that was a Pokémon Day Care, they even saw some Pokémon Eggs outside on the field and in the water.

"Woah." Takato said.

"Years ago when Pokémon fell sick needed treatment. Before there were cars, trains and such, it's was a long difficult journey into town." Tamazō explained.

"Is that how Extreme Pokémon got its start?" Brock asked.

"Yes, that's exactly right." Tamazō replied.

Soon Tamazō and the gang had arrived at Tamazō's house.

"Hi honey, I'm back!" Tamazō announces.

A mid age woman was sitting on a rocking chair and polishing a Pokémon Egg on her lap, she looked towards her husband, "Welcome back." She notice the gang, "Ah, who's this?"

"Kids, this is my wife Kimie." Tamazō introduces them.

"Hello ma'am." The gang greeted.

"This is Yuna and she's the latest entry in tomorrow's competition." Tamazō told his wife.

Yuna gave a small sheepish laugh, "We just arrived in this town and I wanna try my luck at the race."

"Really? Than, best of luck." Kimie smiled.

"Thank you."

The gang were now seated at the table, looking around seeing lots of Pokémon Eggs.

"Look at all the Pokémon Eggs." Mairin awed.

"It's been awhile since we seen lots of them." Takato said.

Kimie smiled, as she place the Pokémon Egg that she was cleaning back onto its nesting place, "This one arrived only yesterday." She told them.

"Once they hatch, we raised some pretty strong Pokémon." Tamazō said, as he was holding a Pokémon in his arms, "Here, take a look at this little Pokémon."

The Pokémon turned around, "Sentret." It said.

Yuna smiled, "How old is the Sentret?" She asked.

"It's only two days old." Tamazō replied.

"Wooper."

"Aipom."

"Ursaaa."

"Hoohohoo."

Baby Wooper, baby Aipom, baby Teddisura and a baby Natu Pokémon all ran towards the gang, excitedly.

Mairin squealed, "Sooo cuteee~~" She bent down, playing with them.

"These are the group of the little babies." Kimie told them.

"Yuna, why don't you come on outside." Tamazō said.

"Huh?" Yuna blinked, but followed Tamazō.

The gang went outside and in front of Yuna was the equipment needed for the Extreme Race.

"Pika!" Light said.

"It's hasn't been used for many years, but I reckon this old skateboard probably itching for a ride." Tamazō said.

"Thanks Mr. Tamazō." Yuna thanked him.

"How about some practice with the skateboard?" Tamazō said.

Apparently Yuna was great a skateboarding, she had done a lot of skateboarding and mountain boarding out of boredom back at home and with her Pokémon.

Yuna was skating down the hill once and saw a wild Sentret in front of her and did a quick turn, causing the skateboard to hit a rock. "Ah!" She fell off the skateboard.

"Yuna!" Alain and Volkner called out.

Yuna got up, "A warning would be nice." She groaned.

Volkner helped his girlfriend stand up.

"I'm fine." Yuna assured them.

"Woahhh!" Gary's Arcanine stopped in front of them. "You couldn't take away from a challenge could you Yuna?" He saw her practicing a few seconds ago.

Yuna gave Gary a look, "It seemed fun to try." She said.

"Is that so? Well, don't expect me to go easy on you."

"Of course not."

"But there is still no chance of beating me. Me and Arcanine, that is." Gary left after saying that, "Gooo Arcanine!"

"Ranine!" Gary's Arcanine said.

"Arcanine huh? A formable opponent." Tamazō said.

Yuna was talking to Tamazō with Alain and Volkner about the race.

Light and Raichu we're looking and playing around in the skateboard, for fun.

"According to the rules, your not allowed to switch Pokémon, in the middle of the race." Alain told her.

Yuna frowned, slightly.

"To win a competition, you must be one with your partner. So you must choose carefully." Tamazō said, "Character, trust and physical strength. There is much to consider."

"Physical strength..." Yuna thought about it, all her Pokémon has that, but the strength is too much. "I know." She sent out her herb Pokémon.

"Meganium." The herb Pokémon appeared.

"Meganium huh... Yes, excellent choice." Tamazō complimented.

"Alright Kaori, are you ready?" Yuna asked her herb Pokémon.

"Meg!" Kaori nodded.

And so Yuna and Kaori went to practice, Alain and Volkner headed to the Day Care Area were Brock, Takato and Mairin were, knowing that their girlfriend is going to be fine.

The sun was setting, Yuna and Kaori continues to practice.

"Left. Right." Yuna continues, "Your doing great Kaori."

"Meg!" Kaori said, continuing to run.

"Yuna!"

"Huh?" Yuna looked ahead.

"Hey Yuna!" Tamazō called out, once again. "I have something to show you!"

"Mr. Tamazō?" Yuna blinked.

Kaori headed towards Tamazō and stopped, eating the Pokémon food that was given to her.

"I've bought you this egg to practice with." Tamazō handed Yuna a egg with a Pokéball symbol on it.

"What's this?" Yuna asked, taking the egg and looking at it.

"It's called a dummy egg. Half way through the race you have to put one up and carry it to the finish line." Tamazō explained.

Yuna nodded, "Makes sense. Thank you."

"Yuna, you've got to proud of yourself and all your hard work. You and Meganium are truely a team." Tamazō complimented, "With that kind of determination, you may receive first place."

Yuna smiled, "We'll do our best."

Kaori appeared and rubbed her head against her trainers face, "Meganium." She said.

Tamazō smiled.

"Right. Let's continue." Yuna said.

Both Yuna and Kaori continues their practice with Yuna, holding the dummy egg in one arm.

Starting off slow, so Yuna can adjust to the dummy egg, then Kaori picked up the speed and then faster and faster.

☁️ 🌈 — [Break Scene] — 🌈 ☁️

Unknown to everyone, that tomorrow's competition might have trouble, by two people or should I say two thieves.

"Heh, look that this brother. Tomorrow there having the Extreme Race." A male voice told his brother.

"Hm, meaning that most of the houses won't be occupied. We can steal the Pokémon Eggs and sell it for a lot of money." Another male commented.

"Ahahahahahaha!" The two males laughed and went to plan their steal.

☁️ 🌈 — [Break Scene] — 🌈 ☁️

Next day, it was the start of the Pokémon Extreme Race and there are many people here to watch.

"And now the town of Eggseter is proud to announce the moment you all been waiting for!" The male announcer announces, "The finals to the Extreme Pokémon Competition are about to begin!"

The crowd cheering was very loud.

"Today's winner will receive the covenant Golden Pokéball Trophy!"

Alain, Brock, Takato, Mairin and Volkner all sat in the stands on the side with many audience.

"Now allowed me to explain the rules of the competition! The winding course takes our courageous contestants out of town, through the Eggseter Valley and ending at the Shellby's Ranch." The announcer explains.

"There, they will each receive a dummy egg, they must bring the egg back to the starting line, which becomes the finish line. There is no set course from the ranch to the finish, so the contestant is free to choose their own route."

Yuna and Kaori were at the starting line, next to Gary and his Arcanine.

"I'll wait for you at the finishing line Yuna." Gary told the oldest Ketchum.

Yuna smirked, "I'll be at the finishing line first Gary." She said, back.

"The players have stepped up to the starting line. This is where all the hard work and dedication finally pays off."

"Anddd, they off!"

As the contestant just told a couple off steps out, Scyther flew ahead and it's trainer flying, he crashed into someone other contestant, causing an accident.

Dust clouds was covering the front of the starting line.

"Ah!" Mairin gaped.

"Already!!" Brock and Takato exclaimed.

"Pika!"

"Rai!"

"Ches!"

"Arf!"

All the Pokémon gasped, as they stared at the dust cloud.

"His Scyther couldn't control the height of its flying." Alain observed.

"Woah! This race is up to a rough start, just out of the gate we got a major spill!"

"Cross through it Arcanine!" Gary ordered.

"Nine!" Arcanine

"Cut through Kaori!" Yuna said.

"Meganium!" The herb Pokémon cried out.

Both Gary and Yuna made it through the dust clouds of the accident.

"It looks like a group of competitors just emerged from the reck."

The camera showed some competitors and then Yuna.

Takato sighs in relief with Mairin, "She made it through."

☁️ 🌈 — [Break Scene] — 🌈 ☁️

"Our competitors has made it around the bend and into the treacherous steep mountain of the course."

"Okay Arcanine, time to speed up!" Gary told his legendary Pokémon.

"Arcanineee!" Arcanine runs faster.

"Kaori, lets show them!" Yuna said.

"Meganium!" Kaori agreed and runs even faster.

"Gary Oak, holds a healthy lead. But wait, a late entry, Yuna Ketchum is narrowing the gap."

"Go nee-chan!/ Yuna!" Takato and Mairin cheered.

All the Pokémon cheered as well.

The audience were surprised that a Meganium could ran that fast, it almost looked like that it's faster than Acranine.

After running through the mountain course, both Yuna and Gary ran through the valley, until they reached the Shellby's Ranch.

Tamazō and Kimie smiled, as Yuna and Gary arrived.

"You two are doing great for your first time Extreme Race." Tamazō complimented, giving them both a dummy egg each.

"Thank you." Yuna said, taking one of the dummy egg.

"Thanks." Gary said, taking the other dummy egg.

"Arf!" Gary's Arcanine gave a loud bark.

"Hm!" Yuna blinked.

"What's wrong Arcanine?" Gary asked his legendary Pokémon.

Arcanine barked once again, staring at the Day Care Centre.

"Meganium!" Kaori also felt it.

"Oh no. We have thieves!" Yuna exclaimed out.

When Yuna announces those words, two males dressed as thieves came out from the Day Care Centre with basket of eggs in both their hands.

"Hey!" Gary shouted out, catching the thieves attention.

"Put those eggs back!" Tamazō shouted, demanding, "They are not yours!"

"Ahahah! On the contrary old man, they are ours now!" One of the men shouted back, running.

"Yeah and they will become great Pokémon for our team!" The other man declared.

"Oh dear!" Kimie gasped in horror.

"Kaori, grab those eggs with Vine Whip." Yuna told her herb Pokémon.

"Meganium!" Kaori uses her vines and grabbed the basket with them, pulling them out of the thieves arms and back to the Shellby's couple.

"NO!" The two thieves shouted out, angrily, "Give them back!"

"These are not yours to begin with!" Yuna retorted.

"Oh yeah!" The two brothers charges towards them.

"Arcanine, Flamethrower!" Gary ordered.

"Arcaninnneee!" The legendary Pokémon fires Flamethrower towards the thieves.

"GAHHHH!" The two thieves yelped as the Flamethrower were about to hit them, turning around quickly, they ran off, in fear.

"Oh thank goodness." Kimie sighs in relief.

"Thank kids." Tamazō thanked them.

Both Yuna and Gary nodded.

Everyone in the audience had seen what happened, on the screen and they were relieved that everything was fine now.

"Wah, thank goodness that Yuna and Gary were there." Mairin sighs.

"Yeah. Otherwise those two thieves would've gotten away with those Pokémon Eggs." Brock commented.

"Meganium!"

"Arf!"

Both Kaori and Arcanine cried out, like a warning that the other competitors are coming now.

"We gotta move it." Gary said.

"Right." Yuna nodded.

"Good luck!" Both Tamazō and Kimie called out.

Both Yuna and Gary, with their Pokémon, took off once again, heading back to the starting line which is now the finishing line.

"And were back with an usual day at the Extreme Pokémon Event! But the race is on!"

The screen showed Gary in the lead with Yuna behind him but a couple of metres.

"Gary is still in the lead with Yuna only a Pokélength behind!"

"Arcanine now, speed up!" Gary ordered.

"Arcanninnne!" The legendary Pokémon dashes even faster.

Yuna notice the trail, she clicked her tongue, "It's narrow Kaori. We can't catch up here." She told her herb Pokémon.

"Mega." Kaori nodded, agreeing.

Yuna looked around and saw a ledge, she smirked, "We'll use that. Kaori, lets use that."

"Meg!" Kaori headed off towards the direction of her trainer.

Gary looked back and he couldn't see the indigo-black hair anywhere, "Looks like we lost Yuna." He looked forwarded, "But, knowing Yuna she didn't give up."

"Wohoo! Go Kaori!" Yuna's voice was heard from above!?

"What!!" Gary looked up, towards the direction of the voice.

"Meganiummm!" Kaori lets out a determined cry as she landed beside the legendary Pokémon.

"Yeah!" Yuna cheered, as she now beside Gary in the race. "Hello!" She greeted.

Gary lets out a small smirk, "Not bad Yuna."

"Hey Gary, the last one there is-" Yuna started off.

"A rotten egg!" Gary ended.

The audience who all saw this was cheering loudly and very astonished by the stunt that a girl would do.

"Never before in the History of Extreme Pokémon have we seen such daring, such cunning, as the last move by Yuna Ketchum!"

"Alright! Way to go nee-chan!/ Yuna!" Takato, Brock and Mairin cheered.

"Nice." Both Alain and Volkner lets out a small grin, their girlfriend was daring when she needs to be.

All the Pokémon cheered.

"And here they come! Down by the home stretch!"

Both Arcanine and Kaori were neck and neck.

"This race is right down to the wirer!"

"Arcanine, the final sprint." Gary said.

"Ninee!" Arcanine said.

"Give it all you got Kaori." Yuna said.

"Megaiumm!" Kaori said.

"Meganium and Arcanine are neck and neck! Racing towards the finish line in the dead heat!"

The audience were cheering loudly for both Pokémon.

"You can do it Kaori!" Takoto and Mairin cheered.

All the Pokémon cheered, loudly for Kaori.

"What competitors these young trainers are! But who will come out the champion!?"

"Now! Drive for the goal!" Gary shouted out.

Arcanine jumped, driving forward.

"That's it!"

"Now Kaori! Big jump!" Yuna shouted out.

Kaori did one big leap forward, her head stretched out, hitting the finishing line first.

"Oh!"

"Yes!"

"We have a winner!"

The audience cheered loudly and confetti's were raised.

"In a splendid come from behind photo finish its... Yuna Ketchum!"

Yuna and Kaori looked confused for a second before the words caught up to them, they both smiled at each other.

"What a race it has been? What an achievement! Having beat out Gary Oak a powerful contender indeed!"

Gary smiled and nodded.

Yuna and Kaori were now standing on top of a small stage and in Yuna's arm is the trophy and around Kaori's neck is a gold medal.

"Yuna has won the Golden Pokéball Trophy in her first Extreme Pokémon Competition!"

Alain, Brock, Mairin, Takato, Volkner, Gary and the audience's all gave the winners an applause.

As the sun is setting, the gang are saying goodbye to Gary.

"No regrets from me." Gary said, "You've raised yourself a great Pokémon."

"Thanks Gary and you as well." Yuna said.

"See ya at Johto." Gary said, leaving.

"Yeah." Yuna said.

"He has change?" Takato blinked.

"He has." Yuna smiled.

"Pika~" Light smiled.

"I'll say, you can't really feel the arrogant vibe much as before." Alain said.

"I agree!" Takato exclaimed.

"Yuna." Tamazō voice was heard from behind the gang.

"Mr. Tamazō? Mrs. Kimie?" Yuna said.

Tamazō was holding an incubator and inside was a black and red Pokémon Egg.

"We can't thank you enough for saving our Pokémon Eggs." Kimie told her.

"This here is a very special Pokémon Egg and well it's for you." Tamazō handed Yuna the egg.

Yuna takes the incubator, "Oh!"

"Pika!" Light beamed at the Pokémon egg.

"A Pokémon Egg." Brock said.

Takato and Mairin were looking at the Pokémon Egg, "What kind of egg is it?" They asked.

Kimie held a finger to her mouth and winked, "It's a secret..." She said, in a low tone.

Both kids pouted in response, they wanted to know.

Kimie giggles, "But it's not from this region."

The older kids all blinked, now they are curious too.

Tamazō gave a chuckle, "When the Pokémon hatches, use the Pokéball that's on top of the incubator to catch it." He told Yuna.

"Thank you." Yuna said.

The gang headed off their way, along the road.

"You all take care now." Tamazō said, waving.

"See you soon." Kimie said, waving.

It's been an exciting stop on the road to Johto. Hard practice, a winning race and the chance to discover an exciting new Pokémon.
