Freshman year (part 8)

Dawn still sat in the same spot while watching the game by herself. She felt bad, more like horrible, because she promised May that she'd be with them at the game, but here she is all alone in the damn cold bleachers. It didn't help that it was freezing as hell too. Dawn shivered and wrapped her arms around herself to hopefully somehow block the chilling air that froze her to the bone. She groaned to herself since she meant to bring another jacket, but totally forgot to. Oh well, she'll live, she's survived 14 years of her life so far, so it can't be that bad right now besides her ass literally frozen solid.

She instantly perked up and sat straighter when she saw Paul jog onto the field for the first time this game. The freshman class instantly went insane; they screamed, cheered, waived huge signs saying "Paul" and his number, the cheerleaders squealed over him, everything.

Ursula lead the cheerleaders in front of the crowd and started doing a cheer, grabbing the students attention. She strutted across in her stupid tiny skirt and waived her pompoms in the air, fake smiling towards the crowd just because of the attention she was getting.

"What are we guys?!" Ursula shrieked towards the crowd.

"WILDCATS!!!"

"What are we?!"

"WILDCATS!!!!"

"One more time!"

"FIGHT YOU WILDCATS FIGHT!!!!" The crowd screamed even louder, if that was possible, and Ursula started smirking as she flipped her hair as Hilda continued to flirt with more guys, Brianna screaming how hot Drew was, Melody checking out the freshman, and Miette stalking Ash's Instagram on her phone. The other cheerleaders were also doing the same thing, which made Dawn want to throw up since it was disgusting to watch. The band started playing a song during the team huddle, and stopped when they got set up for offense. Dawn watched Paul set up, look at his teammates, and call out the play, signaling the game started again.

Paul took a few steps back on the balls of his feet and faked giving the ball to Gary, who got tackled by a few other guys. Two Jaguars got through, aiming for directly Paul. Dawn sucked in a quick breath of air as one Jaguar leaped for Paul, who spun around to his right and kept looking up the field to pass.

"Come on Paul, run towards the side. It's wide open." Dawn whispered to herself as another jaguar launched themselves towards Paul, who gracefully dodged and faked a pass towards Ash, getting the defense off guard for a split second, then took off sprinting next to the right sideline, avoiding another few defensive players who tried tackling him but failed. Dawn smiled while the crowd screamed as he continued running down the sideline, seeing the whole team both on and off the field screaming and running too as Paul sprinted into the touchdown area. Dawn laughed when Ash and Gary jumped on him along with his other teammates, dog piling on top.

As Paul jogged off the field, the crowd was at its loudest ever. All his teammates slapped his helmet and Trip scored another field goal, the score now at 13-14.

The first half ended in the score being 23-21 with their team scoring another field goal, touchdown and the extra point while the Jaguars only got a touchdown. Dawn yawned and rested her elbows on her knees and her head in the palms of her hands. Most of the crowd was shuffling around the bleachers or towards the concession stands while the band played a random song. She looked over to May, Misty, Leaf and Serena, who all looked happy and excited as usual. Dawn felt a smile tug at the corners of her lips, but was soon pulled into a frown when Ursula and Hilda started walking up the bleachers laughing and gossiping as usual.

She felt her eyes widen as they came closer to her, so she quickly tugged at her hood and whipped it on and looked down at her feet just in case if those stuck up bitches walked past her, hoping they wouldn't recognize her at all.

Dawn bit her lip hard as they were only a few feet away, and for a second Dawn held her breath, listening to their awfully loud footsteps on the bleachers. They walked past her without even glancing her way, making Dawn sigh in relief and let out the air that she held inside her.

Dawn quickly looked back to see the two a few bleacher seats away gossiping to another couple students, assuming they were friends, and turned back around to the field. She focused her vision on the field, but her ears heard Ursula's voice, grabbing her attention. Dawn decided to eavesdrop but still pretend to look towards the field as if she didn't even notice they were there.

"Omg I'm still so like, just pissed! I can't believe that Paulie would ask that bitch to homecoming! Like, honesty, he wouldn't do it just because, like she had to pay him or something!" Dawn felt her body shrink a little from Ursula's words, but had to remind herself that if she made anymore motion, they might suspect something.

"Like, totally! How can someone so hot ask someone so ugly!?! She doesn't even match up to shit, she's worth nothing." There was Hilda's screechy voice now as always.

"Then if she's not worth anything, why do you keep talking about her? Maybe cause you're just jealous." Dawn raised an eyebrow at the new voice. Who was that? It sounded like a male, but his voice was definitely more high as well, she assumed it was a freshman guy.

"What?!? Why-How could I be jealous of that blue haired little bitch?! Your one to talk Ken!" Ursula spat. Dawn's eyes widened slightly, recognizing the familiar name.

"It's not like I care about DeeDee either, she's so ugly and such a loner, but you don't have to keep on talking about her everyday. You're just mad that Paul doesn't like you."

"Shut up Kenny, besides, I have to go because I get to walk across the field in a couple minutes with him arm-in-arm for the homecoming chosen representatives. He has such muscular biceps too, like I could feel his muscles under his jacket, he's so fucking hot. Sorry Ursula, maybe next time!" Hilda teased, making Ursula growl in frustration and stomp her foot on the bleachers. Hilda quickly jogged back down the bleachers with that stupid flirtatious bounce in her steps and ran towards where all the other representatives were, including May, Drew, Gary, and Paul. Dawn sighed sadly, wishing it was her instead, but obviously she would NEVER be chosen. Her dreams were impossible to reach, they were only so vivid before reality burned them up to ashes everyday, making her heart ache.

Dawn heard Ursula growl again as she started to stomp back down the bleachers, but instantly stopped from the sight of a familiar small little freshman.

Dawn dryly gulped, feeling her breath shake a little and her pulse instantly pound, her heart racing in fear. She bit her lip again, but felt her body freeze when she heard Ursula's voice directed towards HER.

"Omg, don't tell me, is that DeeDee?!? Ew, like why would you stupid bitch even be here!!!" Ursula mocked, making Dawn hug herself, trying to ignore her bitter cold words that stung a little.

"What? You too scared to even look at me anymore?!? Talk about weak, you're just a nasty, trashed up pathetic girl GOT IT!?!" Dawn felt her vain a filling with anger, and decided to make her shut up once and for all.

"Bitch!! Why are you ignoring me?!?" Ursula screamed again and decided to slap her, but a hand caught her wrist by the last second. Ursula's eyes widened to see Dawn gripping her wrist painfully hard, making her struggle against the tight hold that made her wrist hurt.

"How about you shut up for once and sit your ass down besides talking fake crap behind everyone's backs you stupid bitch. Sit the fuck down." Dawn spat at Ursula, who had her mouth slightly open from surprise, but quickly clenched her jaw together while glaring back at her.

"Let me go you filthy shit. I don't want your germs all over me." Ursula tried pulling her arm back, but Dawn held it even tighter in her grip.

"How about you close your nasty mouth for once instead of going and gossiping about crap that's none of yours or anyone else's business." Dawn let go of her wrist and shoved her a little, making the pink haired girl stubble from her lack of balance. A few freshman turned around to see what the commotion was about and their eyes widened at the sight, nudging their friends to get their attention as well. Ursula gasped, then glared at Dawn.

"You do NOT have the right to fucking shove me!" Ursula closed the gap and shoved Dawn back, well, at least attempted to, but Dawn held her ground, barely moving an inch.

Dawn smirked "Don't you think by now if I can survive through all five of you, then it's gotta be a piece of cake if it's just you." Ursula and Dawn glared at each other, making some of the freshman stare in shock from the tension growing rapidly. After a minute, Ursula scoffed, then strutted down the bleachers to the rest of the cheerleaders, who were doing the usual crap again.

Dawn sighed in a huge amount of relief, thanking Arceus silently that she hadn't made a big scene in front of everyone. She slumped down on the bleachers and just stared out onto the field.

"Hey DeeDee."

Dawn angrily bit her tongue as she turned to face the devil himself. "What do you want Kenny." She mumbled and rolled her eyes as he sat down right next to her, a little too close for comfort.

"Nothing really, I just wanted to see how you're doing; oh wait, nobody likes you. How've you been my childhood buddy." Kenny sarcastically said as he laughed at his own stupid self, which made Dawns' blood boil.

"Get away from me." Dawn angrily gritted through her clenched teeth, her temper not calming down. In fact, it was only growing because she saw Hilda all over Paul, which pissed her OFF.

"Come on DeeDee!" Kenny taunted, watching his ex-childhood friend get all riled up.

"Do NOT call me that! We're not friends anymore, and we haven't since you left me for all those dumbasses in 2nd grade! Just leave me be, okay?!?" Dawn yelled at Kenny's face, then snapping her head back forward to the field. Kenny frowned a little, knowing that he ditched her all those years ago, but honestly she wasn't the friend you'd want in high school. He knew she was bullied, but he didn't want to be in the same position either, so that's one reason why he left her. She was just a little girl like Ursula said many times, hell, she wasn't even a tiny bit pretty either! Kenny rolled his eyes at his thoughts and scoffed at Dawn, who didn't even look at him. Why was he even sitting with her? He'd bound to be jumped from the other guys for hanging around with her. It's not like he wanted to.

"See ya later, maybe!" Kenny meanly laughed as he darted off to somewhere else, leaving Dawn with her angry self.

"What a lying bastard!" Dawn huffed under her breath and watched as the representatives from her school walked across the field in twos, one boy and girl paired up for each.

"And now here comes May and Drew!" The announcer said cheerfully. The crowd went wild as May skipped right next to Drew, arms linked with each other.

"April, calm down! Don't make me regret this!" Drew hissed at the happily skipping brunette beside him, who shot him a glare, but quickly smiled and kept skipping while swinging his arm with hers.

"Enjoy the moment while it lasts Grasshead cause you won't be getting this anytime later!" May shouted over the crowd as they finally crossed the field, both receiving a red rose from the ASB students.

Paul chuckled at the sight of Drew and May. That girl was a bolt of energy right now and he could tell by how she was skipping next to Drew. He was snapped from his friends from Hilda smiling creepily right in his goddamn face.

"Omg Paul!! Like, are you ready for this? I'm like, soooo excited! Right babe? Am I right?!?" Hilda screeched in Pauls face, who instantly backed up and winced a tiny bit from her annoying pitchy voice.

"Shut up! Don't you know any damn personal space?!" Paul angrily muttered back, wrinkling his nose from the nasty strong smelling perfume she was wearing.

"You look totally hot in your jersey too, I can take off for you later if you want." Hilda seduced, winking at him, who scoffed in disgust.

"In your fucking dreams you whore." Paul said back, who smirked in success from Hilda's twisted face.

"And now, presenting Paul and Hilda!!!!" Paul mentally groaned as he started walking fast with his head down, thankful that his helmet was covering his head. He smirked as Hilda tried to match his long strides, and almost tripped over her own feet.

"Paul!!!" Hilda screamed over the ear-piercing screams of the crowd. She grabbed his right arm aggressively, latching onto him.

"Get off of me! The hell?!?" Paul yelled, trying to tug back his arm from the leech-like whore beside him. She giggled weirdly and squeezed his arm tighter, making Paul hiss at the numbing in his throwing arm. His right arm was his damn good throwing arm, and if he couldn't throw after this idiotic slut almost pulled off his arm right now, their football game was done before the halftime ended. Paul was the only actual hope for their offense to score some points, but not if this thing kept suffocating his bloodstream throughout his entire arm.

Paul violently yanked his arm away as they crossed the field, both receiving red roses just like everyone else had. He shook his arm to make sure it wasn't numb, which it was. He groaned angrily as he paced across the track that outlined the football field. He ignored the screaming of the freshman class that was only a few feet away since the bleachers were right there on his right past the fence on his side.

"THE HELL?!?!?" Hilda angrily screeched, her voice cracking multiple times. She rolled her eyes and stomped to the cheerleaders.

Paul looked at the time left in the break, seeing that it was only a few minutes left. He grabbed a football and threw it to Ash, who caught it easily. He stretched his arm, trying to get rid of the numbness.

"Nice show there Paul." Someone spat, and Paul rolled his eyes and looked to his right, seeing another 'popular' freshman guy.

"Go fuck yourself." Paul spat back and threw another football, warming up his arm.

"That was quite something out there. You guys make such an adorable couple, but you had to ask out some dump." Kenny rudely said as Paul ignored him.

"What do you fucking want." Paul muttered, concentrating only on stretching and warming up his muscles since the night breezes were bone chilling.

"Nothing. I was just talking to your so-called 'date' for homecoming. She's the same as always, being short, ugly and cold. " Paul's eyes widened, snapping his head towards the fake-grinning boy.

"What'd you say?!" Paul angrily asked, gritting his teeth together as Kenny chuckled, running a hand through his choppy brownish-red hair.

"Oh man Paul, why'd you ever look for a girl like THAT? Well, whatever, I dunno if DeeDee's still there or not, but it shouldn't matter! Nobody even cares for her anywa-"

"Shut up you bastard."

"Ey, I'm not the one talkin' shit here! Ursula is bro, chill!"

"Like Hell your weak ass isn't. Fuck off."

"You're just stuck up rude with some fake 'bad boy' appearance. I'm ain't scared of you rotten plum."

"Shut up you twig."

Paul and Kenny glared at each other with pure hatred as students began to surround them, muttering to themselves about whatever the hell was going on. The purple headed teen just grunted and walked away towards the team to start off the second half, ignoring the words Kenny had said except the ones about Troublesome. He'd have to find her right after tonight's game, if that twig was telling him the truth.

Gary: Fantastico as always JC, just stupendous.

Ash: What's that mean?

Dawn: *facepalm*

Gary: I'm done.

Paul: Figure it out. *throws huge dictionary at Ash's face*

Ash: Huh? OW! *dictionary slams in face, knocking him out cold*

Serena: Ash? ASH?!? *glares at Paul*  Why would you do that?!?

Paul: Hn. *shrugs shoulder*

Dawn: Stop with the stupid cold shoulder!

JC: Shut up. I've got a terrible cold right now!! *coughing*

Me: To Hell with you, I got sick from you!! *wheezing*

Paul: You sounds like you're on drugs.

Me: SHUT UP!!! *blows nose and wheezes some more*

JC: Well anyways, hoped you liked this chapter! I know, it's kinda boring right now, but it'll get interesting later on! I feel like I have a brainfart or something cause my mind is blank right now, but I'll be working on the next chapter.

Gary: SMELL YA LATER!!

Dawn: Bye guys!!!

Paul: Hn.
