Chapter 21

Serena's P.O.V.

Two weeks have passed, and many things have happened. School prom has been announced, and grades 10 to 12 get to go. It will be held two months from now. I already can't wait. Though, that's just one of the few things that have happened.

Ash and Calem have been getting closer each and everyday. It's hard to believe they started out as enemies, but surprisingly now, they are best friends. They are always hanging with eachother nowadays. There are even some times when I would invite Ash over, and he'd would bring Calem along with him even though the purpose of inviting him over was to have some alone time with him. Sure, I did wish that Ash didn't bring Calem along, but it was great to see those two getting along so well.

Another thing that had come up was Miette. I totally forgot about her, since I hadn't seen her in the past few weeks. I just found out recently she went to the Sinnoh region. That explains her sudden disapearence. Well, she comes up to me this one day and tells me she knows about Ash and I. How did she know that? I didn't tell her, and I'm pretty sure Ash didn't either. Anyways, she tried convincing me that Ash wasn't a good enough guy for me, and that I should break up with him. Well, she can piss off, because never in a million years that would happen.

Lastly, Clemont's birthday was not too long ago. He invited us over to his place, and we partied. We did all kinds of things. Clemont decided to host a game of musical chairs. I haven't played that game since preschool, but it felt great to play it again. Gary ended up winning the game, and bragged about it for like, 10 minutes. Later on, Clemont let us use his gaming system to play some games. Of course, the guys were like pros at the video games, while us girls were, well...not so good.

Anyways, enough of that. Time to get back to present day. It is early in the morning, and first period will be starting anytime soon. Dawn and I are sitting under a tree, watching the guys play a short game of basketball before the bell.

"So Clemont decided to sit this one out?" Dawn says as she watches him.

I look over at Clemont, who is sitting at a bench, keeping track of the score.

"Mhm, sports isn't his thing." I reply.

"Pikachu! Pikachu!" Pikachu cheers from beside me.

Ash has decided to leave Pikachu with me for the time being so he wouldn't have any distractions as he plays the game. Pikachu has been rooting for Ash's side since the start of the game. Luckily, his team, which consists of him, Calem, Barry and Kenny, are winning.

"Kenny is so good at this game, don't you think?" Dawn says as she watches Kenny score a point for his side.

"Yeah, in fact, they are all pretty good." I say.

"True, but I feel Kenny is more skilled."

"Whatever you say." I giggle. I figure the reason why she is saying Kenny is more skilled is because she likes him, though she hates to admit it.

"Anyways, where are Iris, Misty and May?" Dawn asks, looking around for them.

"I have no idea, to be honest. They rushed into the school after they got off the bus earlier today. I haven't seen them since."

"Oh. Looks like they aren't hanging with us this morning." She pouts.

I hear the sound of footsteps, so I look infront of me. Clemont approaches us, and sits down beside Dawn.

"The game's done." He says.

"Really? So who won? Was it Kenny's team?" Dawn crosses her fingers.

"Yup! They scored 2 points higher than Gary's team." Clemont replies.

"Yes! I knew they'd win!" Dawn cheers.

Ash runs up to us and drops to the ground beside me. He wipes his sweat as he rests his head on my backpack.

"Aww man. What a game." He pants.

"Pika!" Pikachu climbs onto Ash's stomach.

"Hey there, buddy." He pets his head.

"Don't get sweat all over my backpack!" I move it away, dropping his head onto the ground.

"Agh...it's not that bad." He rubs the back of his head to see if there was any sweat.

He sits up and leans on the tree. He takes his backpack and opens it up, searching for a bottle of water.

"Man, I forgot my water bottle at home." He pouts.

"Aww...sucks for you." I giggle as I poke the tip of his nose.

"Do you have water?"

"There's a water fountain inside the school." Dawn says.

"I am too tired to get up." Ash replies.

"I see." Dawn sweat drops.

"Here you go." I say as I reach into my backpack and hand him my water bottle.

"Oh, thanks." He smiles as he takes it. He opens it up and begins chugging it down.

"H-hey! Leave some for me!" I quickly grab it away from him as he is about to take another sip.

"Huh? Oh, sorry. I was just really thirsty." He sweat drops.

"Hehe. It's fine." I reply as I take the last sip.

The rest of the group joins us. They all look pretty tired, and covered in sweat.

"Woo! What a game!" Kenny stretches.

"Yeah! We rocked!" Barry says.

"Hmp. You guys just got lucky." Gary rolls his eyes.

"Haha. No. That was all skill." Calem says.

"We just decided to go easy on you guys. If we did play properly, we would have won." Drew says.

"Smh. I think we would have won either way. Anyways, our team won, and that's that." Ash says.

"Pika!" Pikachu adds.

The bell rings. The group seperates, leaving Ash, Clemont, Misty, Calem and I. We then walk to class together.

"Feels good to not be late this time." Ash sighs of relief as we enter our class.

"It was your own fault you were late last time. If you haven't gone all crazy with Gary, everything would have gone just fine." Misty says.

"Whatever." Ash rolls his eyes.

"Class is about to begin, please take your seats." Ms. Smith says.

Everyone moves to their seat and sits down. I sigh as I reach into my backpack and take out my binder and textbook. Another day of boring science.

"Alright. Before we get to the lesson, I have something important to tell you guys."

"Important?" Ash repeats.

"Must be some big science project." Calem says.

"I guess so." Ash sighs.

"Ahem. No, it isn't a science project." Ms. Smith looks at Ash and Calem.

"S-she heard us?" Ash scratches his head.

"Looks like it. And here I thought we were talking pretty quietly." Calem sweat drops.

I giggle as I listen to Ash and Calem's conversation. It's hard to believe they are actually best friends now.

"As I was saying." My teacher starts. "I have something important to say."

"What is it, ma'am?" Clemont asks, eager to know.

"We are going on a school trip!" Ms. Smith says.

My eyes widen after I hear what she says. School trip? We haven't been on a trip since the start of the school year.

"A school trip! Where are we going?" A boy asks.

"Everyone in tenth grade are getting the opportunity to go to Proffesor Sycamore's Summer Camp!" Ms. Smith replies.

"Summer camp, huh." I say to myself.

"There will be tons of fun activites for you guys to try out. Other kids from different schools will be there too. You all will be competing in some sort of game for the top place. Proffesor Sycamore is hosting it, so I expect you guys to behave."

"Proffesor Sycamore? Awesome!" Ash exclaims.

"But summer isn't until next month." Misty says.

"I know, but it will be a great experience." Ms. Smith says.

She walks over to her desk and picks up a small pile of sheets. She starts handing it out to each us.

"This is the permission form. It has information about the summer camp. We will be staying at the camp for five days, Monday through Friday next week. Each person attending the camp will have to pay $30."

"Five days?!" Clemont almost shouts. "Aww man...what am I supposed to do with Bonnie?"

"Younger siblings have been allowed to come. But remember, she will have to pay the fee of $30 as well." Ms. Smith days.

"Is that so? Thank arceus." Clemont sighs of relief after hearing he could bring his sister along.

"You guys will have to make a group of three to four people. This will be your main group for the camp, and the people you will be with for most of the time. Please tell me who you are going to be with, so I can arrange your cabins you will be staying at."

"Yes, ma'am!" The entire class replies.

"Anyways, please return the form with the money by Monday." Ms. Smith says. "Now with that out of the way, time to begin our lesson."

I have the feeling summer camp will be fun. Hanging out with my friends, and having a great time. Even better, five days away from home. I already can't wait.

* * * * *

It is now time for lunch. Everyone decided to meet outside to eat lunch under the tree today.

"You guys were told about summer camp, right?" Gary says.

"Yup. I am so excited!" I reply.

"I think we should arrange who's gonna be in who's group now." Clemont suggests.

"Good idea." May says.

"Umm..." Ash looks around. "Man...how are we going to seperate 13 people?"

"Plus Bonnie. I'm bringing her along." Clemont raises his finger.

"Same here, I'm bringing my little brother, Max." May adds.

"That makes 15 people." Calem rubs his chin.

"Okay, I want first call!" Gary says. A great team will be...Drew, Paul, Calem and I!"

"Us four? Sounds good." Calem says.

"Okay then." Drew says.

"I don't really care." Paul smirks.

"Looks like we got the first group then." Misty says.

I look at the four boys one by one. They are all skilled in their own ways. Now that they have formed a team, they will be tough to beat.

"Hmm..." Dawn examines everyone one by one, trying to figure out who will be on her side. "Well, it's obvious Ash and Serena will team up together, so they are out of my pick."

"Umm..." I start blushing. Of course, I do want to be with Ash.

"What do you say, Serena?" Ash looks over at me.

"Y-yeah! Sounds great!" I smile at him.

"Now for two more people..." Ash says.

"How about you and your sister, Clemont?" I say.

I think the four of us will make a great, unique team. Clemont's sister is also really adorable, so this team will be perfect.

"Me, you, Ash and Bonnie..." Clemont rubs his chin. "Alright! Let's do it!"

"Awesome!" Ash jumps.

"Hey May! How about we be a group of three? Me, you and Max?" Iris says.

"Okay! Sounds good!" May says.

"That leaves the last four." Gary says.

I look too see the remaining four people, Dawn, Misty, Kenny and Barry.

"Looks like we are a team then." Barry says.

"Alright! Watch out! My team will beat you all!" Misty says.

"Haha. No, my team will dominate you guys." Gary smirks.

"No way! We have a inventor in our group, we have a big advantage!" Ash joins in.

"That doesn't mean anything, Ashy-boy. Our team is a lot better." Gary rolls his eyes.

"Do you want a bet, Garebear?" Ash takes a step closer to him.

"Don't call me that!" Gary shouts.

"Guys, calm down. This trip isn't for another week, you know. Don't you think it's a little too early for this?" I sweat drop.

"You heard the lady. Calm down, Gary." Ash smirks.

"What?! You were in this as well!" Gary yells.

I sweat drop as I watch Ash and Gary. If they are like this now, I don't want to see how they are going to be on the actual day of summer camp.

* * * * *

The day has finally come. It has been one week, and its time to head to Proffesor Sycamore's Summer Camp.

"This is going to be so fun!" I jump as I load my pink duffle bag full of my clothes for the next few days into the bus.

"Fenn!" Fennekin says.

"Cham!" Pancham adds.

Dawn and I get onto the bus. We are one of the last people to get on, everyone has already taken their seats. Dawn takes her seat beside May, while I go and sit down beside Ash. Pikachu, Fennekin and Pancham decide to take a seat for themselves across from Ash and I.

The bus starts moving, and makes its way to the camp.

"This is gonne be great!" Ash jumps in his seat.

"Yeah! I can't wait until we get there!" I say.

"There's gonna be so much to do there...battles, games and activites, and food! I wonder if the food is good. Aw man, I can already taste it!" Ash rubs his stomach.

"Is all you think about is food?" I giggle.

"No...well, most of the time." He sweat drops.

"Hehe. I can see that." I say as I put my head on his shoulder and slip my hand into his.

He looks down at me and kisses my head. He then looks out the window and sees the sight of Lumiose City, slowly disappearing.

I heard the drive will be three hours long, so maybe it's a good idea to get some rest until then. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep, hoping the bus ride would quickly pass by.
