Chapter 20

Ash's P.O.V.

It is the next morning. Yesterday went by quickly. Well, right now, I am waiting by my locker for a friend. He is taking forever, the bell for first period is going to ring soon. If he doesn't get here in time, I have no choice but to leave for class.

Finally, after like, 15 minutes of waiting, I see him making his way towards me. It's about time.

"There you are. What took you so long?"

"Sorry, I missed the bus so I ended up having to walk to school." Calem wipes his sweat.

"Really? That sucks." I chuckle. "Anyways, come on."

"Wait, where are we going?"

"To go see a few of my friends. Now that you are one of mines, I think you should try to get along them too." I reply.

"O-oh...okay then." He nods and follows me as I make my way outside.

Once I get outside, I find Drew taking out his pokeball and returning his fainted pokemon. To the other side of the battlefield is Gary, standing with a grin on his face. To the left of the battlefield is the rest of the group watching the battle. As I approach them, I get trampeled on by a large group of girls in cheerleading outfits.

"Ow..." I grunt as I lie on the ground.

I slowly lift my head up to see the girls crowding around Gary, congratulating him on his win. Gary's cheerleaders, oh great. I turn my head back to see if Calem is still there, and thankfully he is. He has his head slightly tilted down, trying to stop himself from laughing.

"Laugh all you want, Calem. I don't care." I roll my eyes as I get up.

"Sorry, you just got knocked down by a bunch of cheerleaders, I couldn't help myself." He chuckles.

"Ehehe..." I nervously scratch my head from embarassment.

"Gary, Gary he's our man! If he can't do it, no one can!" The cheerleaders jump.

That reminds me. I haven't gotten the chance to throw a bus at them yet, like I was planning to a little while back. I look around me for any nearby buses, but unforunatley, there are only cars. Even worse, they belong to the teachers in this school, so I'd get into big trouble if did I end up throwing one of their cars. But now that I think of it, throwing a bus would get me into serious trouble as well...but whatever.

I shake my head away from my thoughts. Sometimes my mind does some crazy things. I should know it's impossible to lift a bus with my own bare hands.

I see that Gary and Drew have now regrouped with everyone else. I make my way towards them, followed by Calem. Serena is the first one to see me.

"There you are!" She runs up to me and plants a short kiss on my cheek.

"Hey." I smile at her.

"Ashy-boy! You just missed my batte! I was hoping that you'd watch to learn some of my skills, but I guess not." Gary says.

"Umm, I don't want to learn any of your skills, I already have my own battle style. But thanks anyways." I reply.

"Whatever you say." He shrugs.

Calem moves to the right, revealing himself from behind me. Serena notices him, and takes my arm to get my attention.

"Why is he here?"

"Long story." I reply.

She stares at Calem, not knowing what to do. Calem stares back for awhile, but eventually brings his head down and looks at the ground, having enough with the eye contact. There is only one word to describe what's happening right now. Awkward...

"Calem...?" Gary says as he walks up to him.

"Yeah, it's Calem." He replies.

"I-I know that. But what are you doing here?" Gary asks.

"Umm, I-" Calem starts.

"You see guys...something came up." I say, interupting Calem.

"What happend?" Barry asks.

"Yeah, tell us Ashy-boy." Gary says as he takes a sip of his water bottle.

"You may know that there was some tension between Calem and I. That's probably why most of you are surprised to see him here, especially you, Serena." I turn to look at her.

"Y-yeah..." She gives me a small nod.

"Well, Calem and I made up, and now we are buds." I say as I put my arm around Calem.

Everyone looks at me with a shocked expression on their faces. I see Gary with his water bottle in hand. My eyes widen as I see what he's about to do, so I quickly jump out of the way, just in time. The water he spits out lands directly on the ground from where I was standing. He somehow has to drink water at the wrong times.

"Oohh...close one." Gary sweat drops.

"I'm starting to think you are doing this on purpose." I glare at him.

"No I'm not. It just seems to happen everytime you say something surprising." Gary replies.

I grab Gary's water bottle away from his hand and empty out all the water inside. I then hand the water bottle back to him.

"What? What was that for?" He shouts.

"It's for the best, I'm not risking anymore chances of getting soaked." I cross my arms.

"But I was still drinking it...talk about a waste of water."

"Ehh...sucks." I reply.

"Erg. That's it. I will refill this bottle and purposely spill it all over you!" Gary starts making his way to the water fountain.

"Oh no you don't!" I say as I reach into my back pocket for my pokeball. "Froakie I choose you!" I release my pokemon.

"Fro!"

"Use water gun on Gary!"

"Kiee!!!" Froakie releases the water at Gary. He falls to the ground, drenched in water.

"Hehe. Now that's how it feels like to get soaked with water."

"Two can play this game!" Gary gets up and twists his shirt to get rid of the water.

"Go, Wartortle! Use water gun!"

"War!" Wartortle shoots me with water, and I get pushed back onto the ground.

"CAN YOU GUYS JUST STOP???" Misty shouts.

I look at Misty, who has her hands on her hips with an angry expression on her face. Serena makes eye contact with me as she sweat drops. I look behind me to see Calem dying of laughter. I look around me to see a few other students crowding around us, ready to watch the water fight.

"Fine." I say as I get up from the ground.

"Hmp." Gary takes out his pokeball and returns Wartortle.

I hear the crowd sigh of disapointment as they walk away from us. Looks like they aren't getting the chance to watch the water fight.

"Look at you, are you going into class looking like this?" Serena walks up to me.

"Uhh, I will just change into my gym clothes." I reply.

"Arceus...you two are so childish." Misty sighs as she looks at Gary and I.

"Oh, shut up." Gary rolls his eyes.

"Anyways, can we get back to what's important here???" Dawn says as she points to Calem.

"Oh, right. So, as I was saying-"

I am interupted by the school bell ringing for first period.

"Darn it..." I sigh.

"Let's just talk during lunch." May says.

"Sounds good." I reply.

"Calem? Do you mind meeting us here again during lunch?" I ask him.

"Yeah...no problem." He replies. "Anyways, I don't want to be late for class. See you later." He turns around and leaves.

"We are in the same class, you know. We can walk together." I say.

"Nah, it's fine. Too risky." He smirks and walks away.

"R-risky? What's that supposed to mean..." I sweat drop.

I watch Calem enter the school, making his way towards our class. I sigh and turn around to see Serena directly in front of me. I look behind her, to see that everyone else was gone, most likely on their way to class by now.

Serena's P.O.V.

I honestly don't know what's happening right now. First, Calem and Ash didn't have a good connection, but now they are friends? Oh arceus...he has a lot of explaining to do.

"C'mon...don't want to be late." He says as he takes my hand and starts leading me to class.

"I thought you were going to change into your gym clothes. You are still soaking wet, you know." I giggle.

"Huh? Oh crap, I completely forgot! You go ahead, I need to change!" He runs away to the direction of the changing rooms.

"Don't be late to class!" I call out to him.

"That's why I'm running!" Ash replies as he makes a turn at the end of the hall and disappears.

I quickly make my way to class, not wanting to be late either. My science teacher may seem pretty okay, but once you get on her bad side, you probably won't live to see tommorow. I make it to class just in time before the bell rings indicating the start of the period. Looks like Ash will be getting into trouble.

Five minutes of class time has passed. The teacher has taken the attendance, and she marked Ash as absent. Maybe I should have told her Ash was here...oops. Just as she is about to send someone down to the office to hand in the attendance, the door opens up. Ash slowly walks in. He stops as he sees the expression on Ms. Smith's face.

"Ash Ketchum! You are late!" She shouts.

"Uhh, s-sorry!" He gulps.

"Explain yourself!"

"I-I had to change, t-that's all!" Ash replies as shivers run down his spine.

"One more time, and I will have to phone home!" Ms. Smith says.

"Yes ma'am..." Ash sighs as he sits down and slouches in his seat.

"Yo, that was kind of scary." Calem pokes Ash's arm.

"Tell me about it." Ash rolls his eyes.

* * * * *

The morning went by really slowly, it's not even halfway through the school day yet and I am already tired. I just want to go home and sleep. Right now it is the lunch hour, and I am putting my stuff away at my locker with Ash before we meet up with Calem outside.

"Okay, ready to go?" Ash asks me.

"Are you sure about this?" I look at him concerned.

"What do you mean...?"

"It's just I thought you and Calem hated eachother...and all of a sudden you guys are friends?"

"Yeah. Why? Is there something wrong?" He takes a step closer to me.

"Well, what if he's faking it? You are aware of the way he feels about me. What if he's doing this for another way to get to me?"

"I-I don't know..." Ash replies.

"You know he can be an agressive person. Ash, I don't know what I'm feeling right now, but I'm a little scared."

"There's no need to be scared. I'm sure Calem and I are good now." He says as he puts his hand on the back of my head and kisses my forehead. He then gently puts my head on his chest and wraps his other arm around my back.

"Are you sure?" I reply as I raise my arms to hug him back.

"Yeah. And if it does turn out that he's faking it, I will make sure he pays. I will not forgive him for it. I will take the bus I was saving for Gary's cheerleaders and throw it on him instead."

"A bus?" I giggle as I lift my head from his chest and look into his eyes.

"Mhm. Gary cheerleaders can wait, I can get another bus for them." He chuckles as he looks back at me.

"Hehe. Oh Ash, I love you." I say and put my hand on his chest as I part my lips and give him a kiss.

"I love you too." He replies with a smile as he withdraws.

"HEY! ARE YOU GUYS GONNA MAKE OUT AND MAKE US WAIT ALL DAY?!" Gary shouts through the halls.

I jump as I turn around to see Gary walking up to us with his arms crossed. The other students in the hall turn their heads over to Ash and I, trying to see if we actually were making out.

"Gary! You didn't need to shout!" Ash says as his cheeks turn red of embarrasment.

"Look what you did, everyone is looking at us now!" I say as my cheeks turn red along with Ash's.

"Sorry. You guys were just taking forever. We were waiting for like 10 minutes, and you guys still didn't come so I decided to look for you. Turns out you guys were smooching the entire time." He smirks.

"Oh, shut it!" Ash shouts.

"Don't you dare talk to me like that!" Gary shouts back.

"Hey! Can you two calm down? You are embarrasing me even more!" I say.

"Ehehe...sorry..." Ash sweat drops.

"Fine. C'mon, let's go." Gary says and walk away.

Ash and I follow Gary outside. We find our friends, including Calem, all chatting with eachother. Looks like Calem is starting to get along with them.

"We're here. I got them." Gary says as he points towards Ash and I.

"What took you guys so long?" Clemont asks.

"I found them making ou-" Gary starts.

"Gary, keep your mouth shut, please and thank you." Ash says as he covers Gary's mouth with his hand.

He removes his hand from him, only to get a death glare in return.

"Okay then...as I was saying earlier this morning, Calem and I made up, right Calem?" Ash says as he looks over at him.

"Y-yeah." He nods.

"Ever since we did, I noticed he isn't that bad of a guy. In fact, I think we can become good buds." Ash chuckles.

"Now that you say...Calem is a pretty cool guy." Iris says.

"I guess so." Kenny says.

"He's cute too!" Misty jumps as her eyes turn into hearts.

"Don't get carried away." May sweat drops as she watches Misty.

"Great! Now that I know everyone is fine with Calem, why don't we welcome him into our group of friends?" Ash says.

Ash looks over to me, and motions over to Calem, asking if I am fine with this. I smile and give him a small nod, saying I will be okay. He nods back, and turns away to see everyone's reactions.

"That's a great idea!" Dawn says.

"The more the merrier." Barry adds.

"Our big group of 12 people will now be 13. That's cool with me." Drew replies.

"What do you think about this, Paul?" I turn to Paul, who is standing beside me.

"I don't really care." He shrugs.

"I should have known that from the start." I sweat drop and look back at Ash.

"Okay! Welcome, Calem." Gary says.

"Thanks." Calem replies.

Ash walks up to Calem and playfully punches his arm.

"I am a hundred percent sure you won't regret hanging with us. We can act a little childish at times, but that's what makes it fun." Ash gives a thumbs up.

"Haha. I will be looking forward to acting all childish with you guys." Calem chuckles as he scratches the back of his head.

I move away from where I am standing and walk up to Calem and Ash.

"Glad to have you here, Calem." I smile at him.

"Thanks, Serena." He smiles back.

"Now don't go hitting on her or I will beat your ass." Ash gives Calem a death glare.

"What?! I wasn't going to in the first place, geez." Calem sweat drops.

"I was just kidding." Ash laughs.

"Oh arceus, whatever. Anyways, I don't like her anymore anyways. Like you said, Ash. There are plenty more fish in the sea." Calem crosses his arms.

I sigh of relief hearing Calem has gotten over me.

"Hmm...so you are going to go after Misty. I never thought you would, but okay then." Ash says.

"W-what? I didn't say that!" Calem's cheeks turn pink.

"Misty...huh?" I evily smile to myself. "Hey, Calem. Misty is a great girl. Why don't I introduce you?" I nudge him with my elbow.

"Agh! Serena, I don't like her!" Calem backs away.

"That's what you think." I giggle.

"Now that you are a part of our group, you better get used to all this." Ash chuckles.

"Yeah..." Calem sweat drops.

We are interupted by the bell ringing for fifth period. We talk for another minute or so, and later on head to class. I never thought of Calem joining us, but I think it will work out. He can be a pretty cool guy. Now that Ash and Calem's hatred for eachother is pushed aside and solved, I think Calem and I could become great friends.
