The newest expansion to the Pokemon TCG is now available. Mega Alakazam is the star of the set. (I personally think it would work pretty well with bats and mystery energy) The new theme decks for this expansion star Lugia in the sky guardian deck and star Zygarde in the Battle Ruler deck. I personally like the Sky Guardian deck a bit more.

Here are A few cards I think are
noteworthy from this set at first look.

Lugia functions just like bouffalant did in the Black- White era. It has an ability that reduces damage done to it by 20. Its attack costs three colorless energy and does 60 damage, 120 to Pokemon EX. So it looks pretty cool too. I'd like to see it get some play.

Then there is the Marowak everyone is talking about; its ability, Bodyguard, completely shuts down the nefarious Sesimitoad by preventing any effects of your opponents attacks that would effect your hand or yourself. A pretty cool card. Good luck on getting it though- its prerelease promo only.

There is also the new Mew everyone is hyped about as well. It has 50 hp and one attack for one psychic energy that let's you search your deck for any pokemon and put it in your hand. Its ability is the big thing though; It let you use the attacks of any basic pokemon in play if you have the required energy.

Now at first glance I didn't like this card that much. The Hp was- and still is- the issue for me. Its so fragile. However, this card fits perfectly with Night March. It may spawn a couple of new underdog decks made to take down the mainstream decks. I also now think this card will take the place of Mew EX. Hopefully it will get more play because of its non EX status. Overall a good card that mixes up the meta game.
