Chapter 5: First Rival Battle & Father's Suprise

Jennifer, after another hour of walking through Route 1 she, and Starla had finally made it to Guren Town.

"Look, Starla, we made it to Guren Town. Now I can register for the Pokemon league," Jennifer said with a smile on her face looking down at Starla, who was walking next to her.

"Meowth," Starla cried out in annoyance, not seeing the same excitement of reaching the town as Jennifer did.

"Oh, Starla," Jennifer said, kneeling."One day I will get you back to your old," She said softly as she rubbed Starla's head.

"Meowth," Starla groaned, shaking her head and knocking away Jennifer's hand away.

"Alright, let's get to the Pokemon Center so I can get registered for the League," Jennifer said, standing up straight.

"Well, if it isn't Jenni the loser," A familiar voice mocked, catching Jennifer's attention.

Jennifer looked up to see the familiar, slightly spiky black hair that turned white on the ends walking towards her. She narrowed in annoyance at the familiar face of Damon, who she was hoping not to see again for a while on her journey.

(The picture doesn't match him perfectly, but the closest one I got for him.)

"Damon," Jennifer muttered in annoyance at the nickname.

"Meow," Starla cried out, looking at Jennifer.

"Ah, so Jenni got herself another Pokemon," Damon said."How about a two-on-two battle, and once again, I will show you that I'm better than you," He mocked.

"Fine, we can have a two on two battle but your wrong. I will win the battle," Jennifer stated with her eyes narrowed.

"Jennifer, is that you!" A voice called out.

Jennifer and Damon turned to see a tall man wearing a red jacket over a green shirt and black knee-length pants walking toward them. It was none than Nicolas, her father's assistant Teacher.

"Nicholas," Jennifer greeted, hugging the tall young man.

"You have indeed grown to look like Jessica," Nicholas said, hugging Jennifer.

"Enough chatting, more battling," Damon said.

"Ah, battle well, why don't you come to the school and use the battlefield," Nicholas said."I have been the referee, and we could use a fill-in for today's battle lessons until the volunteer trainers show up since the coach is sick."

"Fine with me, meet me at the school, Jenni loser," Damon said, walking off.

"Ugh," Jennifer groaned, clenching her fist.

"That boy has a serious attitude," Nicholas said.

"Oh, that Damon," Jennifer muttered.

"Meowth," Starla cried out, watching Damon walk off.

"So that the famous Damon, your father, told me you didn't get along with," Nicholas commented."It seems Starla doesn't like him either."

"Oh, Starla doesn't like any human for real lately," Jennifer sighed, looking at Starla.

"Meow."

"Yeah, I heard that she has been struggling since the incident. How have you been since that day?"

"Uh, fine," Jennifer said as she recalled the Pokemon hunters and what happened to her and Starla that day.

"Meowth," Starla cried out, looking at Jennifer.

"Come on, let's go and show Damon who the better trainer is," Jennifer said, shaking her head.

"Yeah, the kids will have a great time watching your battle and wonder what Pokemon you chose," Nicholas said.

"My new partner, the best," Jennifer smiled as she and Nicholas walked toward the school for young, inspiring Pokemon trainers.

Jennifer was now standing across from Damon on a brown battlefield near the entrance side yard of the Pokemon school with the kids sitting in the rafters.

"This will be a two on two battle between Damon and Jennifer," Nicholas announced."The first person to have both Pokemon fainted loses."

"Show them your strength Bubkit," Damon said, sending out Bubkit.

'So Bubkit is up first.' Jennifer thought, pulling out her pokedex and pointing it at Bubkit.

"

Bubkit, the Bubble Kitten Pokemon. A Water type. This Pokemon makes it home near the cliff above the water. They are excellent climbers and swimmers. The bubble on its tail stores water and helps it to stay cool in warm temperatures," The Pokedex said in an artificial female voice.

"Alright, let's do this, Starla!" Jennifer said, nodding at Starla.

"Meowth," Starla cried out as she walked to stand in front of Jennifer on the battlefield.

"Begin!" Nicholas shouted.

"Bubkit, use Bubble!" Damon commanded.

"Starla Dodge and Tackle!"

"Meow," Starla cried out, looking back at Jennifer but quickly dodged and then ran forwards and tackled her body into Bubkit, knocking him down.

"Bubkit, don't take that and get up and use Haze, then Bubble!"

"Bubkit!" Bubkit cried out as it opened its mouth and filled the area with black fog.

"Starla, close your eyes and focus, and then use Lick!"

"Meowth," Starla cried out, running into the fog.

"Starla, I said focus, girl," Jennifer said, watching Starla carelessly run into the fog.

"Meowth!" Starla cried out, being sent flying out of the fog.

"Come on, Starla; you can do it. Just listen, please; the two of us have always been a team," Jennifer said.

"Meow," Starla cried out, looking back at Jennifer.

"Please, Starla, focus on Bubkit's sound of movement and use Lick, then Tackle!"

"Submit Water Gun!"

"Meowth," Starla said, lowering her ears to the ground before running to the left of the fog.

A few minutes later, Bubkit was sent flying out of the fog twitching with yellow sparks showing.

"Awesome, the Lick paralyzed Bubkit," Jennifer commented as the fog cleared.

"Bubkit, get up and Tackle!"

"Starla Scratch!"

"Bubkit!"

"Meow!"

The two Pokemon cried out, running towards each other Bubkit let out a painful cry as Starla clawed his face messing up his tackle.

"Bubkit," Bubkit whimpered as he fell to the ground.

"Bubkit, unable to battle the winner is Starla!"

"Really, that was enough to take you down," Damon said, annoyed, returning Bubkit to his Pokeball.

"Starla, good job return," Jennifer said.

Starla then walked back over towards Jennifer and lay on the ground.

"Alright, let's go, Spearow!" Damon said, sending out his next Pokemon.

"Ah, Spearow," Jennifer said, scanning Spearow.

"Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokemon. A normal/ flying type. This Pokemon is native to Kanto, but some have migrated to the Sola Region. Spearow has a loud cry that can be heard over half a mile away. If it's high, keening cry is heard echoing all around; it is a sign that they are warning each other of danger."

"Come and help me out, Starfire!" Jennifer said, sending out Flacub.

"Fla!" Starfire cried out battle ready.

"Spearow Peck!"

"Flacub Ember!"

Spearow flew towards Starfire with his sharp beak, only to be stopped by Starfire firing a small flame from her mouth at Spearow, knocking him to the ground.

"Spearow, get up, and Quick Attack!"

"Starfire Dodge with Dig!"

"Flacub!" Starfire cried out, digging into the ground and avoiding the incoming Quick Attack.

"Spearow!"

"Spearow, go into the hole and use Peck!"

"Starfire up and Tackle!"

"Spear, row!" Spearow cried out as he was sent flying back up from the hole as Starfire slammed into him and landed on the ground.

"Spearow shakes it off, and Quick Attack!"

"Starfire counter with Tackle!"

"Spearow!"

"Flacub!"

The two Pokemon cored out as they rushed toward each other and collided with each sending them both flying back and hitting the ground hard.

"Spear," Spearow said, trying to get up.

"Flacub," Starfire said, slowly trying to get up and panting.

"Spearow," Spearow cried out, fainting on the ground.

"Fla, cub," Starfire cried out, barely standing.

"The winner is Flacub which means Jennifer wins the match!" Nicholas announced.

"Spearow return," Damon said, returning Spearow."You won this battle, but im still better than you, Jenni loser," He said, walking off.

"Starfire return," Jennifer said, returning Starfire to her Pokeball.

"That was a great battle, Princess."

Jennifer looked to see her father heading her way.

"Glad you here. I have something I want to give you as a gift for starting your pokemon journey," Her father said.

"Really, what is it?"

"Follow me," He said, leading her inside of the school.

As they reached her father's classroom, he walked over to his and bent on down to grab something. He then stood up straight, holding a pink egg with white swirls inside an orange incubator.

"A Pokemon egg," She said, looking at the egg her father was holding.

"Yeah, I wanted to give it to you this morning, but I had to leave early, but here it is now," He said, handing it to Jennifer.

"Thank you. I take care of the Pokemon egg," She said.

"I'm sure you will, Princess," He said, smiling."You should go get registered for the Sola League and heal your Pokemon."

"Yeah, bye, father. I'll make sure to call," Jennifer said, leaving the classroom.

"Bye."
