Chapter 3: The Beginning of Jennifer's Journey

Jennifer was heading back home with her newly obtained Flacub inside of its Pokeball strapped on her belt. Her brand new Pokedex was being carried in her left hand.

As she arrived back at her house, she opened the door and headed on inside, taking her shoes off and slipping on her house shoes.

"I'm back!" She announced as she closed the front door and walked further into the house.

"Jen in the living room!" Jessie called back.

"Okay," Jennifer said as she started making her way to the living room, wondering what mother had for her before she left for a journey other than her packed backpack.

~~~~
Jennifer walked into the living room, which was filled with red and black furniture. She spotted her mother sitting on the couch with her beautiful Solan Persian lying right next to her.
"Hello, mother and Mysau," She greeted.
"I'm guessing that you got the Pokemon you wanted based on the expression on your face," Mysau said calmly.
"Yeah, I did since I was given the first pick being the only female receiving a Pokemon today," Jennifer said with a giant smile on her face.
"I'm glad you got the Pokemon you wanted, sweetie," Jessie said, getting up from the couch as she grabbed a purple box off the end table."I brought this for you yesterday as a late birthday gift, not counting your new clothes and bag," She said, giving the box to Jennifer.
"You got me something else?" Jennifer questioned.
"Go ahead, open it," Jessie said.
Jennifer nodded as she took the top off of the box her mother had headed to her and her eyes widened slightly as she pulled out what was inside, which was a medium size purple rectangular device that had purple and white with a hint of red Pokeball-style button on the front of it at the bottom.
"Wow isn't this," Jennifer trailed off, not knowing what to say about her mother's new present.
"That's right; it's the latest version of the Pokepod," Jessie replied."It has a map of the Solan region installed, and even the radio station to listen to music, and finally, it also can be used to make calls."
"Wow, mother, it's fantastic. I especially like the color and design you got me," Jennifer said, looking over her new Pokepod.
"I know that purple is one of your favorite colors, so I got you one in purple instead of the common red and white one," Jessie explained.
"It's fantastic. Thanks so much, mother," Jennifer said, hugging her mother tightly.
"Of course; how else will I reach you to check on you when you're not near a Pokemon Center to call me," Jessie replied."Now their one more thing before you go show off your starter Pokemon to him. No need to show me; I already had an idea of you getting the Fire type since I saw how to look at it during the documentary on tv."
"You know me so well," Jennifer smiled, knowing her mother paid close attention to both her children's likes and dislikes.
"Of course, now let me get your backpack and the other thing I have for you," Jessie said, walking out of the living for a brief minute to grab Jennifer's backpack and whatever else she had for her.
After a few minutes, Jessie returned with a black-and-white side bag in one hand while something round was in her other hand. "I packed your jacket for when it gets cold since, just like me, the cold is not your best friend. Pretty of extra clothes, snacks, and some Pokemon food recipes and meals that are easy to make while traveling," She explained, giving the bag to Jennifer.
"Thank you," Jennifer said, putting the bag across her left side.
"Now, this is the other thing I want to give you," Jessie said, holding out a regular red and white Pokeball.
"A Pokeball?" She questioned, confused.
"There a reason for the Pokeball let the Pokemon on out."
Jennifer nodded as she enlarged the Pokeball and then threw it, sending out a very familiar Pokemon
The Pokemon was a small, feline Pokemon with pink color fur that turned black near its paws. Its small round head has two short whiskers on both sides of its face, with slit purplish-pink eyes and a purple shape large coin on its forehead. Its ears are black with a pink interior.
(The person who drew this for me  forgot the coin and the whiskers, but they will be added in an updated picture.)
"Huh?" Jennifer wondered why she was given this Pokemon as she pointed her pokedex at it.
"Solan Meowth, The Scratch Cat Pokemon. A Fairy-type Pokemon. This Pokemon is known to make it home in beautiful oasis fields. They are also said to bring happiness and hope to people and love many people, especially young kids. Solar Meowth's appearance is different base on gender."
Jennifer then put her pokedex away in her bag as he looked at Jessie, confused.
"Why did you give me a Pokeball with Starla?" She asked, looking at the Meowth that was just lying on the ground with her front paws crossed.
"Well, after she nearly got capture by Pokemon hunters when the two of you were younger and were playing out in the lone small forest in town. She hasn't been her usual self. Mysau and I discussed it and decided that traveling with you could bring her back to herself."
"Mysau, really you want me to take Starla with me on my journey?" She asked, looking at the large cat on the couch still.
"Yes, I believe it would do the little kitten some good traveling and training with you. I'm positive all she needs is a rebuild of her self-confidence, and training will help with that."
"Maybe you are correct, but what about Persian? How does he feel about his daughter traveling with me?"
"That big mouth might come off harsh and doesn't like a lot of things," Mysau started."However, he was the one that believed it was for the best. His exact words let her go with the Jenny girl. That girl has a strong determination and can help Starla recover her own will."
"Wow, he thinks I have a strong determination that can help Starla," Jennifer said, looking at the Pokeball in her hand." I do the best I can to help her. Alright, Starla, return!" She said, returning her newly received Meowth.
"I'm sure you will, and I wish you luck on your journey as a Pokemon trainer. A shame you aren't doing a contest as I did in the past, but you do great in the Pokemon league," Jessie smiled, running a hand through Jennifer's hair.
"It's not that I don't want to do a Pokemon contest. It's just that the Pokemon league seems fun," Jennifer said."I might give a contest a try at some point. I won't know for sure if I don't enjoy them if j never try one," She smiled at Jessie.
"Your right. If you do, definitely let me know so I can watch you in your first contest on tv."
"Same little one."
"I will, don't worry. I'm going to say bye to Tyler; guessing he is in his room," Jennifer said, walking toward the stairs.
"Yeah, he is, sweetie."
Jennifer nodded and headed on upstairs to see her little brother before she left.
~~~~

Jennifer walked into a room smaller than her bedroom. It was filled with a green and red child-like theme of furniture.

She looked around the room and spotted her little brother playing with a Pikachu plushie.

"Hey, Tyler playing with Pikachu, I see," Jennifer said.

"Big sister, your back where your starter Pokemon!" He exclaimed, standing up excitedly and dropping his Pikachu plushie.

Jennifer chuckled at her little brother's excitement."Alright, calm on down. I'll show you. Just chill."

"Yay!"

"Come on out, partner!" She exclaimed, taking the Pokeball off her belt and sending out her starter Flacub.

"Flacub," Flacub cried out happily, looking at Jennifer.

"A Flacub awesome!" Tyler exclaimed, gaining Flacub attention.

"Fla," Flacub cried out, looking at the young boy curiously.

"Yeah, I'm happy I was able to get Flacub," She said, rubbing the head of her starter Pokemon.

"I hope when I'm old enough to be a trainer to choose Sauflora the grass toe. That Pokemon looks so cool!" He exclaimed with a large smile.

"It's cool; I guess by to me, Flacub is the best starter in my eyes," She smiled, still happy with her choice."Alright, I better get going after on. I have a journey to begin, right, um," She paused, realizing that she should probably give her Pokemon a nickname."I should give you a nickname if we're going to be a team."

"How about Flare?"

"No, that doesn't seem right. I figure something out as I travel through Route 1," She said, returning her Flacub.

"I wish I were older so I could go on a Pokemon journey as well," Tyler whined.

"Hey, one day you be old enough. For now, spend time with mother and father Pokemon to gain experience with pokemon," She said, ruffling his hair.

"Hey," He said, smacking her hand away.

"Don't be a baby. See you when I return from my journey, bro. Don't worry; I'll make sure to call!" She said as she left the room, ready to set off.

After one final goodbye to her mother, Mysau and Persian, Jennifer left the house and started her journey off toward Route 1.
