"Alyssa, wake up!"

I sat up and looked at Gaia, who was on the ladder that climbed up to my bunk above hers. She was still in her purple fleece pajamas and had her slippers on so her feet wouldn't get hurt.

"Come on! They say the pool is frozen! Let's go check it out!" Gaia exclaimed, giving me only a brief explanation for waking me up at... What time in the morning?

"Guys, what time is it?" I asked, seeing that Gaia had already woken the others up, including Greninja.

"It's 6 AM. Maggie went to grab Aubrey a glass of water since we aren't allowed to go outside yet and when she came back she told us that the professors were talking about the pool being frozen over!" Gaia explained again in more detail. "It's so hot out though! I bet it was that glaceon again!"

"Maybe." I hopped out of bed and grabbed a change of clothes. "Something tells me we're up for the day now, so I'm getting changed. Maybe you guys should too."

We all quickly got changed into something comfortable. I wore the camp's themed shirt and some light blue jean shorts. I tied my light gray hoodie around my waist in case I needed it. Pearl came out with her usual blue jacket around her waist as well, wearing darker blue jean shorts and a white t-shirt. Her hair was tied back and had her blue and white bow in it today. I tied my hair up as well, but didn't put anything fancy in it. A plain black elastic would do for keeping it out of my eyes. Gaia wore a light purple t-shirt and black shorts, Eve wore khaki shorts and a green t-shirt, and Aubrey wore a pink skort and black t-shirt. Lilac decided on a lavender blouse and blue jean shorts.

"Okay, all set? Let's go then! Hey, we look good." Pearl commented. She was pretty into fashion, and I'm pretty sure she said that every morning, but the way she was looking at everyone in the group it seemed her compliments were genuine.

"You say that every morning, but thank you." Aubrey smiled. "I think we all look good today too!"

"She'll like it even better this evening when we all have to dress up and match both our partners and the camp theme." Gaia said.

"Yeah! I'm looking forward to that!"

"How are you going to match both Jade and Sun and Moon?" I asked.

"Well, moon blast is a fairy type move, right? I've got that going for me I guess. I've planned something kind of sort of, don't worry!"

We were outside at the pool by this time. Some other campers were there, most of the counselors, Mike, and the professors. They were all looking at the pool trying to figure out what to do with it.

"Oh shoot. Looks like we're allowed to be here just for this." Gaia looked surprised.

"It was probably an ice type pokemon. And since they're so uncommon in the wild this season we can only assume that it had a trainer." I overheard Professor Trillium speaking to the other professors. "So far as we know, it could've been Alolan sandslash, Alolan vulpix, glalie, cryogonal, or frosmoth."

Gaia and I shared a look with the rest of our cabin. We all knew about the glaceon, but we hadn't told anyone else yet. I wasn't sure if we should.

"What do we do?" Gaia whispered to us. Eve and Aubrey shrugged.

"I think it might be a good idea to tell them." Pearl said. I voiced my agreement. That was enough for Gaia, and she went over to the professors to tell them.

"We need to find that glaceon! Anyone got any ideas?" I ask.

"I don't know. This is weird. It's not even just the top of the pool, it's that the entire thing is frozen solid!" Eve noted, knocking on the ice a couple of times.

"Well, we saw it in the forest last time didn't we? We can't confirm whether or not there's a trainer though..." Aubrey thought aloud. "We could start looking there."

"But it's really hot out. I hate how this sounds, but unless that glaceon does have a trainer we could just be looking for a body today." Pearl said. "Should we start asking trainers if they have a glaceon, or just look around ourselves?"

"I feel like the trainer would've come to pick it up from here by now if it has one." Eve started wondering out loud. "Maybe it wanted a cooler place to sleep, so it froze the pool over to sleep on top of."

"Maybe." Aubrey agreed. "Whatever the case, we should really look around for it."

"I explained the situation to the professors. They said they'd be on the lookout for any glaceon and their trainer." Gaia said, coming back over. "Now let's go hunting ourselves!"

"So where do we go first?"

"I don't know."

I went over to the professors again. Lilac followed me. I tapped Professor Trillium's shoulder when it seemed like they didn't have much more to say. I'll admit I was nervous about this, with two other professors there that I'd never met before. All their pokemon partners were out too. So Professor Trillium's chesnaught, L.G, a talonflame, and a doublade were all here.

"Hm? Oh hi Alyssa. What's up?" Professor Trillium smiled. Most of the professors didn't seem bothered, but Professor Loon looked a little confused.

"Where would ice types living around here usually hide during the summer?" I asked.

"That question couldn't have waited?" Loon looked slightly annoyed.

"Calm down Loon. We were finishing up anyways." L.G. rolled his eyes.

"That's mostly Professor Strobus's area of expertise." Professor Trillium said, nodding towards the professor with the talonflame.

Professor Strobus looked nice. Her platinum blonde hair was in a long braid with a fiery red dyed streak going through it. She had icy blue eyes, but they weren't cold or unkind. It was just the colour. I almost thought at a glance that she and Professor Trillium were related, but they had different last names. Professor Strobus wore a red tank top, gray shorts, and black sneakers.

"Hello." She smiled at me. "You're Alyssa, right?"

I nodded.

"I've heard so much about you! Anna is my sister." Professor Strobus explained. "I'm just married now, so I don't use my maiden name."

So they were related after all!

"So," Professor Strobus continued, "the first place you might want to try looking for an ice type is-"

"Mummy, Daddy, look what I got!"

A girl who looked identical to Professor Strobus ran over with something in her hands. She looked about my age. Her hair was a very light brown, undyed and done up in the same braid as her mother's, and her eyes were green. She wore a similar outfit to her mom's, but with a t-shirt instead of a tank top. She seemed to be about my age. She looked a bit like the man with the doublade standing beside Professor Strobus. Thinking about it, he was probably her dad.

"Tiff, I said to wait!" An older looking boy came over towards us. He looked more like Proffessor Trillium and her sister than his dad. Platinum blonde hair, but still green eyes. He wore an outfit matching his dad's, which was a white lab coat and blue jeans with black sneakers. "Mom and Dad are busy!"

"But I wanted to show them the ice stone that you found me!" The girl, Tiff, opened her hands to reveal what was indeed an ice stone, sparkling nearly as brightly as her eyes.

"Tiffany, that's nice, but we were in the middle of a conversation with someone." Tiff's dad sighed.

"No wait, I don't mind! And it is a pretty ice stone." I smiled at Tiff, catching her attention. "You're lucky to have found it!"

"Thanks! It was in the ice." Tiff pointed at the pool. "Ronan got it out for me with his braixen."

"Hi." Ronan waved at me. "I'm Ronan. Tiff's older brother."

"Hello!" I smiled. "I'm Alyssa."

"The one my parents keep talking about?" He raised an eyebrow. "I didn't think you'd be here."

"Of course I would be. I come to this camp every year."

"Cool."

Amaryllis and Pikachu, probably wondering why I was taking so long talking to the professors, came over and hopped on my right and left shoulders respectively. Tiff smiled at my eevee.

"Hey, you have an eevee! That's so cool!" She smiled. She glanced at her ice stone, then Amaryllis. "Would you like it?"

Tiff held out her ice stone to Amaryllis, offering it to her but not touching her with it. Amaryllis backed away, shaking her head, and nearly slipped off my shoulder. Greninja caught her easily.

"Alright." Tiff put the stone in her pocket. "Sorry Eevee."

"That's alright." Amaryllis smiled. "It's just that I don't know what I want to evolve into yet, so I'd like to have a better chance to think about it first. Besides, I don't want to use your ice stone on you."

"Oh cool, you have a translator microphone!" Tiff squealed. "Your voice is so cute!"

"Thanks!"

"So what were you guys asking my parents about?" Tiff asked us.

"We just wanted to know where to find some ice types around camp." I explained.

"Oh, I can show them! Please Mum?"

"Alright." Professor Strobus (Tiff's mom, not her dad) agreed.

"Yay!"

"I'll go too." Ronan offered, and Tiff nodded. She took my arm and pulled me towards the pool exit, with Ronan and my friends following.

"Hey, what's going on? Where are we headed?" Gaia asked.

"Are you guys Alyssa's friends?" Tiff asked.

"Yep. We're all in the same cabin too."

"Then we're all going to the forest to look for some ice type hiding places! Come on, let's go!"

We followed Tiff into the forest, and she led us off of the usual paths. Suddenly we were going somewhere I hadn't been before in all my years at camp.

"Mummy and Daddy don't know that Ronan and I go down these unused paths sometimes." Tiff said. "They say they can be dangerous."

"More like there's just a ton of poison ivy on the trees. That's why we don't climb them." Ronan told us when he saw Aubrey was getting nervous.

"Alright, guess I can't tree hop then." Greninja shrugged.

"So, you two are the pair that my parents are always talking about." Ronan restated what he'd said at the pool. "You're quite a hot topic around the lab. Professor Loon and a couple others think they should take Greninja off his medication."

"Yeah, but I can't battle without it." Greninja groaned. "As much as I hate taking it, it's kind of necessary."

"They don't think it is. They think you could still battle great without it." Ronan started explaining to us. "Everyone else thinks you need it. I know a few think you could do with a little less of it at the very least, but nearly everyone thinks you should have a choice in the matter. Everyone but Professor Loon that is."

"And L.G, right?"

"No, actually. L.G. thinks you should have a choice in this too."

"Wait really?"

"Yeah. He and Loon argue about it behind everyone's backs, but I know they argue. There are wild greninjas that hang around the lab and use it for shelter. They taught me how to sneak around. My partner is Braixen though." Ronan told us. "L.G. was having a bad day on the first day of camp. That was my fault. I kept pranking Professor Loon and L.G. had to lecture me a bunch. So worth it though!"

"So is that why he was so quick to yell at me when I annoyed Professor Loon on the first day of camp, even though he had no idea what was going on?"

"He did that? Yeah, it was probably because I'd already given him a rough time." Ronan shrugged. "I'll bet he figured it out and had another argument with Loon later."

"Yeah, I'm pretty sure we've seen them arguing twice this week." I added.

"I hear them arguing nearly every night." Ronan sighed. "They're quiet at least. Most of the time anyways. Sometimes Loon just says something that ticks L.G. off, or vice versa. I can still remember their argument from last night."

Ronan then began to act out what had happened based on what he heard.

"What did you want to talk about?"

"Just changing A.G's prescription."

"Loon-"

"Hear me out!"

"No way."

"We'll just test it out for a few weeks and see how he gets along."

"He'll never agree to it."

"I disagree."

"And if I'm right?"

"L.G. he might need this."

"This conversation is over, Loon."

"I know it has some issues, but I think we could pull it off!"

"No way."

"That's a mistake."

"Goodnight."

"L.G! Seriously!"

"What?"

"We've made it this far, what is it all for? Do you believe A.G. can do this?"

"Of course."

"Then convince him."

"And what if you're backing the wrong horse?"

"So L.G. still supports Loon's idea?" Greninja asked.

"To some extent."

"We're almost there guys!" Tiff whispered to us. We all started talking more quietly as well, just so we wouldn't scare any wild pokemon away.

"There should be a pond up ahead." Ronan informed us. "Get ready. Greninja can use the water to his advantage."

We walked through the forest for a few more minutes, sticking to the narrow path. It was only a little while before we could hear some laughter and splashing, which made us all stop. We could hear what sounded like a glaceon. Tiff peeked through the bushes and signaled... Something to us. It looked like American Sign Language, which I couldn't understand. Ronan signed back, then whispered to me.

"She said there's a kid from Team Ice back there. The one with the frosmoth. He has a glaceon with him."

Gaia was the first to go out there, bold as ever and not even taking the time to weigh her options. "Hello!"

"Ah!" The kid screamed and the glaceon jumped off of what looked like an ice raft that it had been floating on in the pond. It now looked ready to defend its trainer. Of course I couldn't tell what gender it was, with glaceon having no visible gender differences.

"Sorry about that!" Eve came out next. "Gaia didn't think that through!"

"Hiya!" Tiffany left the hiding spot next. "Who are you?"

Ronan facepalmed and led the rest of us to the pond. I went over to the kid first and offered my hand to help him up. "Sorry we scared you."

The kid took my hand and stood up. "That's fine. It's not like I should be back here anyways."

His hair was blonde and his eyes were brown. He was wearing a very light, very pale blue t-shirt. Actually it was more like white tinted blue. Black shorts and sneakers as well. After falling off of the log he'd been sitting on he was all muddy.

"Is this your glaceon?" I asked.

"Yes. She was the one who led me to this pond. She was out here exploring yesterday and decided she liked it." He turned to Glaceon, then looked back at me. "Any chance you guys or someone in your group could help me get cleaned up?"

"Sure. My partner's a water type. Greninja, can you use a light hydro pump?"

Greninja came over and use hydro pump on the mystery kid to get the mud off of him, then took control of the water soaking his clothes and threw it into the pond so he was dry again.

"I could've lived with a bit of cold water on me." The kid shrugged. "It's really hot out today. Anyways, my name is Chris. I'm an ice type trainer. And you guys are...?"

"I'm Alyssa, and that's Lilac, Gaia, Eve, Aubrey, Pearl, Tiff, and Ronan." I pointed to each of my friends as I said their names.

"Cool. So why were you curious about my glaceon? You have an eevee of your own, don't you? Do you want help evolving it?"

"Oh, Amaryllis doesn't want to evolve." I explained, remembering the fuzzball that was still on my shoulder. "Besides, I don't have any stones. My friends and I were going to do a show with every eeveelution tonight for the talent show and-"

"You don't have a glaceon. Right. She's actually been watching you guys practice." Chris smiled. "I think she'd be glad to join you."

"Really?"

"Sure!"

Eve started celebrating in the background and Tiff was cheering. The rest of us just smiled and thanked Chris for helping us out.

"It's not a big deal guys. Really! We should get out of this forest though." Chris grinned. We agreed and followed Tiff out again.

"Was it your glaceon that froze the pool by the way?" I asked.

"Yeah. She wanted someplace cool to sleep. I picked her up this morning and was going to try and figure out how to melt it, but I ran away when I heard someone coming." He replied sheepishly. "Sorry about that."

"It's okay! We have lots of fire types on this team!" Ronan smiled. "Braixen and I will take care of this. You guys should go practice your performance though."

The rest of us agreed, and we all went to meet up with the other eeveelution trainers. We still had some time before breakfast for this.

~ Almost dinner time ~

"I hate dresses!" Gaia groaned. She was complaining about the formal dinner again.

"So do I, but I guess they look nice. So there's that?" I tried to offer a positive, but Gaia waved me off.

"Okay, someone else can change now." Eve came out of the washroom in a shirt dress the same colour as an eevee going down to her knees and tan flats, with a silver necklace around her neck. The pendant was shaped like the moon. Her hair was also straightened and down for once. "This was the best I could come up with for this theme."

"That looks really good!" Pearl smiled. She was already in a sundress. It was white at the top, fading into silver by the bottom, and there was a pink bow matching sylveon's in her curled hair. As always, she wore her black choker necklace with the silver shuriken charm. Her flats were also silver.

"A lot of us in here seem to be choosing to match Pokemon Moon instead of Sun!" Maggie grinned. She was also already changed, wearing a white wrap dress with a bow matching sylveon's at her neck, and a ribbon tied around her waist. She had white flat ankle boots on.

"Moon is more fun to match for me. I actually like silver better than gold." I smiled. I was wearing a sleeveless navy blue A-line dress with silver stars scattered on it, and black flats. My hair was still tied back and Pearl was begging me to at least let her put it in a braid.

Aubrey went into the washroom to change as Gaia stayed flopped on the bed, groaning. Andrea was just coming out of the washroom in a yellow polo dress and white sandals. She'd put her hair into a romantic tuck with side swept bangs. "I'm going with the sun theme."

"Traitor!" Natalie joked. She was doing her hair now, putting it up in a messy bun. She was wearing a sleeveless black A-line dress with a thin gold belt and a couple of gold bracelets, as well as some black ankle boots. Umbreon stood beside her happily waiting.

"Alyssa, please?"

"Fine." I hopped down from my bunk and sat down at the cabin table to let Pearl braid my hair. "So, how do you think Aubrey and Flabebe are going to fit the theme?"

"I'm not sure, but it's pretty lucky that Flabebe is blue." Eve smiled. "Aubrey is creative, I wouldn't worry about her. Besides, fitting the camp theme is optional. They'd rather you match your partner."

"My outfit doesn't even match." Gaia complained.

"You'll still look good in it." Pearl reassured her, more or less focused on doing my hair. "Eve, you want your hair styled after this or are you good with it straightened?"

"I'm good! Unless you can do a faux waterfall?"

"Sure! Come over here."

Aubrey came out in a few minutes wearing a green and blue blouson dress. The top part was the same blue as Flabebe's petals, and the skirt was green. Her hair was in a low knot bun, and on her head was a fake flower crown of crocheted mini sunflowers and tiny leaves. The middles of the flowers weren't very big so that the yellow stood out more than anything else.

"I'm going for the sun theme." She explained.

"Awesome! We're all almost ready." Pearl grinned. "Gaia, you should get changed and get it over with. Deerling is asleep right now anyways."

"Fine..." Gaia got up and went into the washroom to change. "But the sooner I get dressed the longer I have to stay in the dress and that's just prolonging my suffering!"

Pearl chuckled at that. We all waited and eventually Gaia came out in a purple blouse and accordion skirt, and a necklace matching Misdreavus's. It was almost just like what she'd told Lilac and I about on the first day of camp, but Lilac always had extra clothes and decided to give Gaia more purple because the silver straight skirt "didn't match well". Gaia was fine with this change. She was wearing black sneakers, which was fine. I was sure she didn't bring along a change of shoes anyways. Then it was Lilac's turn. She got changed into a green off shoulder high waist dress that looked a bit like a two piece. The sleeves were just an inch above her elbows. Tied around the waist was a yellow ribbon in a small bow at the front. The top part of the dress had yellow buttons going down to the ribbon. The bottom of the skirt had a yellow flower pattern stitched into it. She had sandy knee high boots with black laces and there was a yellow hibiscus flower in her hair.

"Alright, we all ready?" Maggie asked. We all said yes and she led us out to the field in front of the main building. The entire camp was there hanging out. The other eeveelution trainers rushed over to us. There was Freddy with Flareon, Veronica and her Vaporeon, Richie and his Leafeon, and finally, Chris and his Glaceon.

"Hey guys! You all ready for this?" Freddy asked. He was in an orange suit, for some reason. Everything was orange with him and his outfit today. I guess that worked for Pokemon Sun.

"I'm really nervous actually..." Veronica admitted. She was in the same outfit as Dancer Julia in the Sun And Moon games, and the blue matched Vaporeon perfectly.

"I think we all are." Richie chimed in. He was a year younger than the rest of us. He was in a light green dress shirt and pale yellow shorts. There was a pink hibiscus tucked in his pocket, probably put there by Veronica.

Chris didn't say anything. He just stood there with a small smile on his face. He was now wearing a white dress shirt, but aside from that nothing in his outfit had really changed. He hadn't put in as much effort as others.

"So, what are we going to do until the show?" Veronica asked.

"No idea. Maybe eat?" Gaia suggested sarcastically.

"That is what we're supposed to do Verrie." Richie teased.

Everyone was ushered into the cafeteria again soon enough. I didn't pay much attention to what was going on, but everyone seemed happy and I was content with the meal. Anyone who dislikes steak and mashed potatoes with garlic is seriously missing out. Gaia caught my attention soon enough and pointed out Tiff and Ronan by their parents. Tiff was in a white and pastel baby blue shirt dress and Ronan hadn't changed his outfit at all. Looking around for more of our friends we spotted Phoebe, who was wearing a red princess dress with a gold sun hairclip holding back her bangs. She came up to us just before the talent show.

"Heya guys! You all ready?" She asked.

"Absolutely!" Aubrey and Lilac said together.

"I'm a little nervous." Amaryllis admitted. "But I'm sure everyone is."

"I think you all will do great!" Phoebe grinned. "Now come on, it's almost time for the show to start!"

After Lilac released Espeon from her card we headed inside and sat down. There were a few acts before us. A magic show, some singing, and a band went up and played. It seemed like only a little while before the eeveelutions were allowed up to perform. They each took their places in a line and began. Like with practice I didn't pay much attention. The beginning was the most boring part anyways. No pokemon moves until around the middle. But when we got there, boy was it interesting.

I started paying attention for the first time since the first couple of practice sessions. Glaceon started things off with blizzard, making it snow indoors around the eeveelutions team. Then the line split up. The eeveelutions scattered across the stage, readying their moves. Jolteon and Umbreon launched pin missile and shadow ball into the air above the middle of the stage and Leafeon used sunny day. The blizzard stopped just as shadow ball and pin missile collided, bursting into deep purple and gold sparkles that fell over the stage. From there, moves were thrown and combined everywhere to make patterns in the air. It was only a minute before people in the crowd started whispering and pointing to the shapes and patterns that they liked best. On the stage the eeveelutions were dancing with each other, mostly freestyling and looking very happy about it. Jade was putting her ribbons to us dancing with Amaryllis. It wasn't long before everyone got very excited. A little more excited than anyone expected, and that's when Jade accidently used a move we didn't think she could use.

Swift hit nearly everyone on the stage, and it hit them pretty hard. I felt the pain, and I was only watching. The crowd was shocked for a second, waiting for the dust that the move had kicked up to clear. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Espeon glancing around at the mess around her. She was the only one close enough to the edge of the stage to avoid Jade's move. Speaking of Jade, my focus was on her and how worried she looked. She didn't know how to fix this. Thankfully, Espeon was very quick thinking. Before anyone had any time to say anything, or figure out what was going on, Espeon used psychic to lift the eeveelutions into the air, back in the line they'd started in with Jade in the middle. Then she continued using psychic to grab some berries out of Lilac's bag. There were four oran berries and three pecha berries. She made gave each eeveelution one berry, made it float around them a few times, and then had them eat it to restore their strength. When they were alright again, she let them back down on the ground and took her place in line.

Everyone clapped when the eeveelutions bowed, and they went back to their trainers happily. Amaryllis hopped onto my shoulder squealing, and according to Greninja's translations, Jade couldn't stop thanking Espeon and apologizing to the others the entire way back to their seats.

"That turned out better than expected." Eve sighed, whispering to me. She was beaming though.

"Yeah, great job guys!" Pearl praised the eeveelutions, as did most of the trainers nearby.

"Well this was a fun way to end camp." Amaryllis remarked.

"Yeah! It was! You guys were awesome!" I agreed.

'And it doesn't stop there. We're just getting started.' Greninja reminded me. 'Now our journey continues.'
