Chapter 3: The Route Trainer Mafia
-Black-
"Whatcha doin'?" Hilbert asked.
"Training Sheldon," I replied.
"You're just having him beat up a bunch of purple cats while playing various songs on you laptop from Dragon Ball Z."
"You got any better ideas?"
"We can get him a hoodie and pull up the Rocky theme song."
"That might work."
"Master!" Sheldon squeaked.
"What?" I asked.
"I'm tired," he collapsed on the pile of defeated Purrloin.
"I guess you can-"
"Master, you have to bring me to a Pokemom Center. I've run out of moves to use."
"Looks like we exceeded our free trial. Time to ditch him," Hilbert said.
"I'm not paying for the full version!" I grabbed Sheldon and spotted a trainer.
The trainer was a young boy with hikes up short-shorts and braces.
"Hey, kid, you wanna help me with something?" I approached the younger boy.
A maniacal smile grew on the boy's face as he slowly faced me. He made a strange gasping sound and seemed to float over to me. I started to back away until the boy flung himself at me. His pasty white legs blinded my vision.
"I like shorts! They're easy and comfy to wear!" he screeched.
I screamed and ducked the flailing boy. Sheldon crawled into my jacket in fear of the disturbed child. The boy laughed as sprawled onto a tree. The youngster's shoulders shuddered with laughter as he turned his head around.
"When two Trainer's eyes meet, they have to battle!" the boy shrieked.
The boy leapt toward me again. I pulled Sheldon from the inside of my jacket and threw him at the boy. Sheldon cried in fear as he was rocketed toward the drooling psychopath. To my horror, the youngster performed the splits in midair and Sheldon went crashing into a tree. The boy's haunting laugh rang in my ears.
The boy unclipped a Pokemon from his shorts and took one last leap at me.
"My Rattata is in the top percentage of-" the boy started gargling up blood. He clutched his stomach and collapsed to the ground.
I yelped and looked down at my blood covered hand that was holding Stabbatha.
"Hilbert, did you do that?" I asked with wide eyes.
"Nope. That was you, bud! Congratulations!" Hilbert replied.
I gasped and fell to my knees.
"Black, it's better this way. That child was made of pure incest and regret. It's like putting down a birth defected Lillipup!"
I crawled over to the dying boy, "I just wanted to get to the Pokemon Center."
"It's just up ahead, Accumula Town. Take care of, Rattata for me," the boy sputtered out his words until his head rolled to the side.
"Joy to the world! The mistake is dead!" Hilbert sang.
"I might have left the PC box, but I haven't escaped it," Sheldon broke down in tears.
I grabbed Sheldon and petted his head to try to cope with what I did. I took the boy's Pokeball. I was going to honor his final wish. It was the closest thing to redemption I could ever have.
I stared at the Pokeball until I realized it was freaking Rattata.
"What the hell am I doing?" I looked at the Pokeball in disgust and punted it into the trees.
I continued on while trying to comfort the blubbering Oshawott. I hummed a tune in my head as we came into town. I looked around and spotted some cosplayers putting up a stage with posters of humans in Pokeballs hanging up everywhere.
"A midriff would've been better," I spotted one of the medieval females. "Why is it so concealed?"
I shook my head and walked around town to find the Pokemon Center. I finally saw something that looked to be one. The Pokemon Centers were different from the Kanto ones. This one had a dark red roof with wide windows everywhere.
I approached the Pokemon Center until I heard a familiar pair of voices coming from an alleyway.
"All we need is a blood sample from Black and our best friend bonding ritual will be complete!" Bianca squealed.
"Bianca, I wanted our souls linked as much as you do, but we need more preparations. Be patient," Cheren advised her.
"But I want us to live together for eternity now!"
"We'll have eternity," Cheren held her hands. "We just need to wait a little longer."
After hearing their exchange, I shuddered with fear and darted into the Pokemon Center.

Third P.O.V
Rich Boy Winston sat in his dim room, looking out of the blinds of his window. His prized Zigzagoon rested on his lap. Beauty Veroncia stood by him while grooming his bleach blond hair. Rich Boy Winston was a long way from Hoenn. He decided to set up shop in the up and coming region and build up a strong branch of his mafia here.
His door flew open and quickly turned around to see who it was. It was his right hand man, Bug Catcher Rick. Beads of sweat dripped downs his face as he looked frantically around the room.
Winston fixed his blue suit and stood up. His Zigzagoon jumped off his lap and onto his desk.
"What's wrong, Rick?" he asked quickly.
"He's dead!" Rick flung his hands into a circular motion. "Joey's dead, boss. I went to make my daily rounds to record his loss quota when I saw ol' Joey with a hole in his belly."
Winston slammed his fist on the desk and swore. Joey was like a disturbed little brother to him.
"Do we know the son of bitch who did it?" Winston questioned.
"He's one them Pokedex Trainers," Rick answered. "And our sources know which one."
"Bring him to our warehouse in Accumula. I want to deal with that scum myself."

"Young man, young man. What are you doing?" Nurse Joy continued to ask.
"What does it look like?" I scoffed. "I'm healing my Pokemon."
"You're trying to shove him in the copying machine. Do you even know how a Pokemon Center works?"
I looked down at what I was doing. I was indeed trying to jam Sheldon into the paper tray of the copying machine.
"Please stop, Master. It hurts," Sheldon begged.
"Sorry. It looked similar to the one the nurse had. I though it was a multipurpose copying machine."
Nurse Joy rolled eyes, "Right. Just give me your Oshawott."
I glared at the woman while I returned my Pokemon to his Pokeball. I marched over to Nurse Joy's desk and placed it in her hand firmly. Nurse Joy hummed as she place Sheldon's ball in a pocket atop small machine. She punched a few buttons and the machine started humming. Joy scooped up a magazine and started reading it.
My gaze wondered to a picture on her desk. There were at least thirty women in the picture that looked exactly like her.
"So are these sisters of yours?" I asked.
She looked up from her magazine, "Yes."
My mind flashed to Prof. Juniper's dead clone sisters, "Neat."
The machine hummed off and Nurse Joy plucked Sheldon's Pokeball from the pocket and handed it to me.
"We hope to see you again," she bowed.
"Wait. What's that supposed to mean? You want my Pokemon to get hurt! Who says that-- at a hospital? This system is corrupt!" I slammed my fist on her desk.
"I have a taser in my desk drawer which I have my hand on right now. I suggest you leave and we better not meet again," Joy said darkly.
I turned on my heel and started to walk off before I smacked a vase of her desk and pushed down everything on my way out as I ran. I ran past the cosplayers and kept an eye out for any of those stalkers. Once I got a safe distance away from the Pokemon Center, I stopped to rest.
I started thinking about the boy I unintentionally killed. As psychotic as he was, he didn't deserve to die, but that's life for you. I'll probably forget about it in a day or two.
"Use dart gun!" I heard a voice shout.
I felt a sudden sting in my neck and before I knew it, the ground sucker punched and I blacked out.
I awoke to a blinding light being shown at me.
"Five more minutes," I complained. I realized I was tied to a chair.
A fist belted me across the face and my hat dropped to the ground. I blinked a few times and saw a boy my age in a blue suit and bright blond hair. I also noticed a Zigzagoon circling me while growling. Other kids younger and older than me enclosed me in a circle.
"Let us have a few cracks at him, Winston!" a kid in camping gear stepped forward.
A Bug Catcher also chimed in, "Yeah, let Caterpie hack at it!"
The blond boy known as Winston raised his hand. Everyone shut up.
"So Children of the Corn, how can I help you?" I forced a smile only to be punched again.
"You know what you did. And I'm gonna make sure you pay," Winston got in my face.
"Oh I'm sorry, was I running on a sidewalk?"
"You murdered one of my boys in cold blood. He was like a kid brother to me."
"Him? I was doing you a favor."
Winston growled and took a few steps away from me.
"Do you know who we are?" Winston asked while combing his hair with a pocket comb.
"A bunch brats who are gonna get curb stomped," I deadpanned.
"We are the Route Trainer Mafia. Untie him," Winston snapped his fingers. "Zigzagoon and I'll teach him."
A pair of his minions quickly untied me and hissed at me. I rubbed my wrists and stood up. I noticed Sheldon's Pokeball was on my belt.
"Send out your Pokemon, dirtbag," Winston smirked.
"I grinded for like two hours this morning so don't get too cocky," I tossed Sheldon's Pokeball in the air.
Sheldon appeared in a bright light and jumped at the sight of so many people circling him.
"Sheldon," I said. "You pummeled dozens of Purrloins today. Let's show this clown what's up."
"R-right, Master!" Sheldon smiled.
"Zigzagoon, Head butt!" Winston snapped his fingers.
Zigzagoon launched himself at Sheldon.
"Block it with your scallchop!" I ordered. I hadn't wanted a Pokemon, but I was improving on my battling already.
Sheldon smacked Zigzagoon away with his shell. The rodent skidded across the ground. Winston reached into his suit pocket and pulled out a green bottle.
"What is that?" I asked slowly.
Winston sprayed his Pokemon with the bottle and Zigzagoon sprung right up.
"A Full Restore," I said in disbelief. "Are you kidding me?"
"Unlike you, I have money. Money to buy as much Full Restores as I want!" Winston bragged.
We went back and forth, attack after attack, but Winston would always pull out a Full Restore. His minions would jeer at me for killing their friend.
"As entertaining as seeing you struggle is, I think it'll be more productive if I take over for a while," Hilbert said.
"No, I think I have him this time. Sheldon, Water Gun!" I shouted.
Sheldon took a deep breath and pumped a stream of water at Zigzagoon. The Normal-Type Pokemon was launched to his master's feet. He had fainted.
"Way to go, Sheldon," I pumped my fist. "You can't use a Full Restore on a fainted Pokemon."
"You're right I can't," Winston shrugged with a huge smile.
"What else are you going to pull out of your magic hat? A Max Revive?" I taunted.
Winston reached into his suit and produced a yellow star shaped object. My cockiness faded.
"Don't do it," I said with wide eyes. "Don't freaking do it."
Winston smirked as he slowly bent down to his Zigzagoon.
"No, no, no, don't. Don't do it!"
The Max Revive was centimeters away from Zigzagoon.
"STOP!!!"
The Max Revive tapped Zigzagoon. I flung the "F word" into the air as Zigzagoon glowed with new found energy and sprang to life.
"I never let up when it comes to revenge," Winston smirked grimly.
"The offer's still open," I could feel Hilbert smiling.
"It's a deal! My body is ready!" I screamed.
I felt myself withdraw and felt Hilbert's dark energy flood my body. I felt his thoughts in my mind that I didn't have control over. I was seeing through my own eyes, but I wasn't the one acting.
Thankfully, Hilbert returned Sheldon. Hilbert plastered on his sadistic smile.
"R-ready for w-what?" a youngster asked.
"I'm ready for some jokes," he took a few steps forward. "Knock, knock."
"Wh-h-ho's t-there?" the same youngster asked.
"Boo."
"Boo who?"
Hilbert flicked Stabbatha out, "Oh please, you're not even getting stabbed yet!"
In a blink of an eye, Hilbert had sliced Winston's throat and exploded with laughter. The gang members screamed and ran away from Hilbert as he slowly cornered them.

I closed the door to the abandoned warehouse. It was only late afternoon. I had gotten a lot done today. I grabbed Sheldon's ball and released him.
He was quivering with fear until he saw me, "Master!"
"Sheldon, I'm going to let you ask about my affairs this one time," I started watching a cloud that looked like a Charizard.
"O-okay. Did you kill them?"
I paused for a moment and looked back to my Pokemon, "No."
