Chapter 84

Author's Notes:
Welcome everyone to the latest chapter of Alpha and Omega. I want to thank you all for your understanding on this delayed update. While I'm healing, I'm afraid updates might become a little inconsistent as I try to find time and adjust to this new but temporary normal. As long as everything goes well, I should be healed up and back to normal in October, so this won't be too long of a situation.

With that said, if you like my work please vote, feel free to comment, and please share this story with your friends. I now present to you chapter 84, enjoy.

A ten year old boy was laying on his bed looking through his Pokédex as he studied his Pokémon's stats. He had just returned home yesterday from his first journey as a trainer collecting gym badges in the Hoenn region, and was hoping to be participating in his first league next month. The stop at home was so that he could work on training his Pokémon a bit before earning his final badge against his father, Norman Maple. The television was on but he wasn't paying it much attention. It was more so to provide some background noise to keep it from being too quiet. On the television was the Pokémon League network, where they were building a hype for several upcoming leagues that were going to be taking place soon, by showing past league battles. They were showing the finals of last year's Hoenn League when the battle was suddenly cut short for an emergency announcement.

"We interrupt this video of last year's Hoenn League Finals for an emergency report for the Torrent Region," a man's voice said, breaking the boy's attention from his Pokédex. "The notorious group of Pokémon thieves, Team Rocket, has declared war on the whole world. Just moments ago they released the mythical Pokémon Arceus in the city of Segovia, to assert the seriousness of their declaration." Video then was shown of the Torrent Air Force attack. "The Torrent military of course responded, by launching an air strike against Arceus as the army and local emergency services worked to evacuate the city of civilians. Sadly however, the twenty-four fighter jets used in the attack were all eliminated by Arceus after only a few minutes. Currently the military is focusing on completing the evacuation before launching another attack, and even though we can not get confirmation, we believe it is due to a Pokémon trainer launching his own attack on Arceus." Suddenly a live video of the battle against Arceus appeared on the screen.

The trainer shot upright in bed as he watched the intense battle, as multiple attacks hit Arceus at once. Arceus was constantly changing his typing to better take the attacks, but it did little good as he was being hit by different types of attacks at once. Arceus changed into a rock type to better endure a Fire Blast coming from Arcanine, but failed to see the Water Shurikens and Aura Spheres from Greninja and Lucario that came from behind.

"Now we do not yet know who this trainer is or what his intentions are, but he is either the most arrogant or selfless trainer I've ever seen," said the news reporter. However the young boy didn't hear this, as he got a glimpse of the trainer riding a Fearow with a Pikachu in his shoulder, and immediately dashed out of his room.

Downstairs in the boy's home, his sister and her best friend were sitting in the living room watching a romantic comedy as they painted their toenails. The boy ran into the room and snatched the remote from his sister before she even knew what was going on.

"Max, don't you dare change that channel! Dawn and I were-" his sister yelled.

"Sorry May, but this is important," Max said, interrupting his sister, and turned the tv to the same channel he was watching.

"Come on Max, don't you have a TV in your room? We don't want to watch an action movie," Dawn told him, not as aggressively as May.

"This isn't an action movie. This is live from the Torrent region," Max told them as the TV showed Arceus being hit by several more attacks.

"What!?" The girls replied in shock as they focused on the TV.

"I'm telling you guys, this trainer is not arrogant," one of the newscasters argued with another. "The way he's battling is clearly meant to act as a distraction to keep Arceus from getting to the evacuees. The attacks he's using are quick fire attacks. Some aren't even that powerful. He's trying to keep the focus on himself and his Pokémon, and don't get me started on his team."

"I still disagree, I think he is arrogant to think he can hold back Arceus, but we'll come back to that. What about his team?" Another commentator asked.

"They are launching a coordinated assault on Arceus, and there doesn't appear to be any communication between the trainer and his Pokémon," the first commentator stated.

"Ok so his Pokémon have great teamwork, so what?" The second commentator replied.

"So what?! This is a highly fluid assault, where the attacks chosen need to be selected in a split second. That level of trust and coordination is extremely rare between trainers and Pokémon. The Kalos Champion Diantha has that kind of bond with her Gardevoir, to be able to give commands without speaking. But to be able to do that with a whole team, that's unheard of. I don't think any of the champions are capable of that," the first commentator argued, just as Ash was seen flying by atop Charizard.

"Wait, was that Ash?" May asked with shock.

"Of course that's Ash. Who else would be so crazy and cool to battle Arceus," Max answered with stars in his eyes as he watched his idol battle.

Just then Ash was seen jumping off of Charizard and disappearing as he landed on top of a building. Suddenly a large Water Shuriken was thrown at Arceus from another building. Arceus then changed to a steel type, and a split second later a powerful fireball was launched from the building Ash was on, and Charizard fired a Fire Blast mid air. The Water Shuriken didn't do much damage, but the two powerful fire type moves must have, because Arceus quickly turned around towards Ash and fired a Hyper Beam. Right before the Hyper Beam hit the building, Arcanine was seen jumping off to the next building with Ash riding on her back.

"Oh wow. Ash is looking really hot right now," Dawn commented as she fanned herself.

"Really? How can you tell? I can't even see his face clearly enough to see if he's sweating," Max commented, but the girls weren't listening.

"So are we going to be rivals in the race for Ash?" Dawn asked.

"Clearly you aren't up to date on current events," May commented with a smirk.

"What do you mean? Do you have a new boyfriend you haven't told me about?" Dawn asked.

"No sadly. But I think you need to look at Ash's pokebook page, and you'll see the race was over before it began. And the winner was a girl named Serena," May replied with a smile, happy for her friend.

—————————————————————

Arceus glowed light blue as several portals formed over his head, then he fired multiple white balls of psychic energy into them. After the last ball went into the portal they closed, right before he was hit by a Dragon Rage, a Gigavolt Havoc, and an Aura Sphere. The collision of these three created a small smoke cloud, however it didn't last long, and soon showed that Arceus took little to no damage from them.

Ash was on top of one of the buildings with Pikachu, and was breathing heavily. The toll of constantly using his aura to power Z moves was taking effect, leaving him feeling weaker. He looked towards the cannon. It was still standing, and he could see flashes of light nearby it, meaning he still had a job to do.

"Are you ok?" Pikachu asked with concern upon seeing his trainer's condition.

"I'll be fine buddy. Let's keep moving," Ash replied and started to weakly run, slowly building to a full run by the time he reached the edge of the building and jumped off, landing on Charizard's back. His landing was more like a crash and he almost fell off, holding tight onto Charizard's neck at the last second.

"Are you alright back there?" Charizard asked as all of Ash's landings so far had been much more stable.

"I'm fine," Ash replied as he tried to catch his breath while planning their next attack. He then pushed himself back up right, and noticed some blood on the back of Charizard's neck. He was about to ask Charizard if he was alright, when he saw another drop of blood landed with the others. Ash rubbed his nose, and saw a streak of blood on his hand.

"That can't be good," Ash mumbled to himself.

"Master, are you alright?" Lucario asked through their joint aura connection, sensing something was wrong with Ash.

"I'm fine," Ash replied, dismissing the fact that his nose was bleeding for an unknown reason.

"He said something wasn't good," Charizard chimed in.

"Ash was looking pretty weak after that last Gigavolt Havoc," Pikachu added.

"Guy's I told you I'm fine," Ash repeated.

"I'm afraid you are not, Master," Lucario replied. "You have been using your aura to allow you to use repeated Z moves, however it takes more aura to enact a Z move than it does z energy. Resulting in you now pushing yourself too far."

"Z moves are the only thing keeping his attention, so they've got to be doing some damage. If we stop now he might redirect back towards Giovanni, then the others won't be able to bring that weapon down," Ash replied, sounding exhausted even in his own mind.

"But if you push yourself too far and pass out, we'll be in the same position anyways," Greninja replied.

"Ash. just take it easy on the Z Moves for a little while. Recover some of your strength. Maybe we can keep him focused on us without using Z Moves," Pikachu suggested.

Ash sighed. "Fine. But as soon as Arceus starts heading back to Giovanni, I'm going back at it," Ash said, giving in to his Pokémon's concern.

Just then several portals opened up overhead, and a dozen white spheres came raining out above Ash and Charizard.

"DODGE!" Ash yelled out as he was hit with a sudden rush of adrenaline.

The spheres hit buildings and the ground below as Charizard managed to dodge, resulting in chunks of concrete and rock to come flying at Ash and Charizard from every direction.

"Use a combination of Slash and Steel Wing to block while still trying to dodge," Ash called out.

Despite not being able to dodge many, Charizard broke apart or knocked away the debris fairly easily. As this happened, Arceus' gold accents turned brown as he changed to a rock typing. Multiple white rings formed above Arceus as he used Rock Slide, and soon dozens of grey boulders started shooting from the rings towards Ash and Charizard.

"Incoming from above!"

Both Ash and Charizard looked on in horror as enough boulders were flying towards them that they were encompassed in a solid massive shadow.

"Master, we're coming to help," Lucario called out as he rushed in, the other Pokémon following suit.

"No. Greninja, attack with a full power Water Shuriken and Lucario Focus Blast on Arceus. The rest of you wait for an opening to attack," Ash ordered as Charizard began slashing the stones with his claws and wings while dodging.

"But Ash..." Pikachu started.

"No! If we get too close together, Arceus could launch another attack and take us all out at once. Charizard and I will manage, you all keep focusing on Arceus," Ash shouted, cutting Pikachu off.

Reluctantly they accepted Ash's order and continued their attacks. Charizard continued to fight through the stones, however they seemed never ending as Arceus made the ones they had already dodged, as well as the larger broken ones, come back around to attack from different angles.

Ash acted as another set of eyes and warned of the stones coming in Charizard's blind spots, as he didn't even have enough strength to create an Aura Sphere. Ash could hear his other Pokémon's attacks connect, however there was no sign of a loss of concentration from Arceus. The stones still continued to assault him and Charizard mercilessly, making Ash wonder how much intelligence Arceus had in this state as he seemed to be solely focused on them, while ignoring the others.

Eventually their luck ran out, a small chunk of stone broke off from a larger boulder that Charizard broke with Slash, and hit Ash in the side of the head. Normally this wouldn't do too much, however in Ash's weakened state, it was just enough to cause him to become momentary dazed and let go of Charizard. Ash rolled backwards and off of Charizard, and straight towards the ground.

"ASH!" Charizard yelled as he noticed Ash fall off, and turned around and dove after him.

Being able to fly, Charizard quickly began to close the distance between them, despite the rocks that were still hitting him. They were only a few feet apart, but Charizard was confident he could catch Ash in time. Just as he was mere inches from Ash, a gold ring with a shimmering center formed out of thin air. Ash fell into the ring and disappeared, with the ring disappearing as well just as he entered.

"ASH!" Charizard cried out as he saw his trainer vanish.

—————————————————————

Ash could tell that he had stopped falling, and was laying on a cold flat surface. He opened his eyes to see nothing but black above him, leaving Ash to believe he was in pitch black darkness. He tried to move but couldn't, his whole body felt weighted down. Whether from exhaustion or due to his head injury, he couldn't tell. He could hear quiet murmurs, but couldn't tell what they were saying, or if they were even real or just a hallucination from his injury. He heard footsteps approaching from above his head, then warm air blowing on top of his head as if someone exhaled onto him. Suddenly he was engulfed in a multicolored light, as he saw a set of golden antlers come into view. Ash felt his strength returning to him almost instantly as he bathed in the multicolored light. When the light dissipated Ash felt as good as new, better even, and finally looked above his head to see Xerneas, and behind him multitudes of legendary and mythical Pokémon.

"Thank you," Ash said to Xerneas, who bowed in response.

"Hello Ash," a cheerful voice called out from his left. Ash turned to see Hoopa smiling brightly.

"Did you bring me here?" Ash asked.

"He did," a high pitched squeaky voice replied.

Ash turned to see Mew floating behind him. "Mew!?" Ash said in shock.

"Welcome to the Hall of Origin, chosen one," Mew greeted.

Ash looked around and saw every legendary Pokémon he had ever seen, as well as some that he hadn't.

"Why am I here? I was in the middle of a battle with Arceus, when I fell off of Charizard," Ash asked as he recalled the last events he could remember.

"You were hurt and weak. If your Charizard did save you, you would have been more of a burden than help. So I had Hoopa bring you here so you could be healed," Dialga replied, bringing attention to himself behind Mew.

"Thank you. Mewtwo filled me in as to why you aren't attacking Arceus yet, so if you could send me back, I can get back to work so you can all come help," Ash replied as he stood tall, ready to jump back into the heated battle.

"I'm sorry, but it's too dangerous. You must stay here," Mew replied sadly.

"Why?! My Pokémon are battling, they need me," Ash said angrily.

"We can make it so that you can see and communicate with your Pokémon. The Tapos are all here, so you can have a steady supply of Z energy, and Hoopa can create a small portal so the Z energy can be sent to your Pokémon for Z moves," Mew explained as Hoopa created several portals that showed all of Ash's Pokémon and Arceus.

"That's great, but it doesn't explain why," Ash demanded.

"All Pokémon follow the same rules. We all have type weaknesses and strengths, this includes Arceus," Mew explained.

"But Arceus can change his typing at any time, we've been taking that to our advantage the whole time," Ash replied.

"True, but he does have a universal weakness that doesn't depend on what his typing is," Uxie stated as it flew up beside Mew.

"And that is?" Ash asked expectantly.

"You."

"Me?"

"Arceus is weak against the aura of the chosen one. That is why we must protect you and keep you here. If we fail, you will be the last hope of the world," Uxie explained.

"Two things. First, I've been using my aura to enact Z moves. If he's weak against my aura, why doesn't it appear to be doing more damage?" Ash asked, sounding skeptical.

"Your aura was being converted to the typing of the crystals you were using," Tapu Koko interjected as he flew forward. "After that only a minuscule amount was distinguishable as your aura. It probably did hurt him, but to the degree of a pin prick."

"Ok, so if I had enough Z energy my aura could do more damage?" Ash asked.

"Yes, your aura would actually increase the power of the move," Tapu Koko replied.

"Good, now can you keep sending me Z energy through one of Hoopa's portals?" Ash asked.

"What? No, you need to stay here. As we told you, if we fail, you are the last hope against Arceus," Uxie objected.

"Do you plan to force me to stay? Because that's the only way you're keeping me here," Ash replied as he looked at all of the Pokémon present, as if challenging them to try.

Three four legged Pokémon stepped forward. One was grey and bulkier with two horns coming from his head and pointing forward. While another was green, taller and leaner with two horns coming straight out to the side of its head. They were both led by a blue Pokémon with two horns coming out of the top of its head and came back at an angle. "I understand your sense of duty and honor as the chosen one, but you must understand the stakes," the lead Pokémon said.

"Hahaha," a feminine voice laughed. Meloetta then floated in between them. "You clearly don't understand Ash, Cobalion. He couldn't care less about being the chosen one, and the duty and honor that old title holds." Meloetta laughed as she identified the blue Pokémon.

"Oh really? Then what drives him to be so reckless as to run from our protection and straight at Arceus?" Cobalion asked.

"Loyalty." A new Pokémon stepped forward. He was cream colored and blue with a red mane, and a horn coming forward from his forehead. "Loyalty to those he loves, both people and Pokémon."

"And right now both are in danger," Meloetta added.

Everyone was now silent, they all wanted Ash to stay there, however not a single one of them was willing to force him to.

"Hoopa, open a portal for him," Mew said, relenting you Ash's will.

Hoopa looked shocked for a moment, but did as he was told.

"Thank you," Ash said as he turned to Mew. "Now about Z energy..."

"Unfortunately, we cannot provide a constant stream of it through a portal," stated Tapu Fini.

Ash grit his teeth in frustration while looking to the ground, as he could see that without Z energy, he would be in the same situation after not too long.

"However," Tapu Koko said, drawing Ash's attention back to him. "There is another way to ensure you have enough Z energy for the battle ahead."

"What is it?" Ash asked excitedly.

Tapu Koko floated over and raised Ash's arm that wore his Z ring. "Your Z power ring is capable of holding vastly more Z energy than what is needed to perform a single Z move."

"But I've never been able to perform more than one Z move without using my aura," Ash stated sounding confused.

"That is because your Z power ring has been restricted. In the past, the Z power rings were only given to the Island Kahunas, as they were an extension of us, and seen as a protector for their respective island. Being the chosen one, when it became necessary, we as the island guardians chose to bestow upon you this gift as well," Tapu Koko explained as the other Island Guardians surrounded Ash. "As you have seen when you were given Solgaleo's Z crystal, a Z power ring is capable of using Z crystals that an ordinary Z ring cannot. But it is also capable of holding vast amounts of Z energy, however this is rarely ever allowed, and can only be made possible by all of the Island Guardians together."

Tapu Koko raised Ash's Z ring over his head, then he and the other Island Guardians touched it. The Z ring glowed with a golden light as they chanted and began to move in a circle around Ash. After only a few seconds they stopped, leaving Ash's Z power ring glowing its brightest, but slowly subsiding.

"You now have enough Z energy to use dozens of Z moves, however, once this energy is completely used up you will be back to the normal levels and unable to hold that much energy again without our help," Tapo Koko explained after lowering back down to eye level.

"Thank you," Ash replied graciously. "Hoopa, please open a portal above Arceus." Hesitantly Hoopa complied, and a portal opened looking down upon Arceus. "Thank you all. I'll see you again after the mind control weapon is destroyed." Ash then focused and re-established his link with his Pokémon. "Are you guys all still ok?"

"Ash!" They all cried out in shock.

"Where have you been?" Pikachu asked.

"The Hall of Origin with the legendary Pokémon. They restored my strength, and gave me some information and a power up. I'm about to come back, so Charizard, get ready to catch me under Arceus," Ash explained.

"I'll be there," Charizard replied.

With that Ash's whole body glowed blue and he took off running towards the portal as he formed an Aura Sphere in his right hand, then dove into the portal. Just as he exited, Arceus looked up to see Ash only a few feet above him with an Aura Sphere pulled back. Once in range, Ash threw his hand forward and smashed the Aura Sphere into Arceus' face. Ash continued to fall past Arceus with a satisfied smirk on his face as Arceus cried out in pain for the first time in the battle. However, as predicted by Ash, Arceus used Rock Slide again, this time filling the sky with boulders, and sent them flying at incredible speed. Ash saw the boulders rocketing downward, then looked to Charizard who was already trying to fight through the boulders toward him. It didn't take long for Ash to realize Charizard wasn't going to make it in time, and prepared to brace himself for the impact with the ground. However to Ash's surprise, the impact never happened, as a pair of claws grabbed him by the shoulders and flew up before throwing him up into the air, and landing on Fearow's back.

"Fearow, you saved me?!" Ash said in shock.

"You sound surprised," Fearow replied as he skillfully dodged boulders.

"Well, I kind of am. I thought you didn't like me," Ash replied.

"I don't," Fearow replied, causing Ash to have a beaten expression. "But I do respect you."

"You do?" Ash replied sounding surprised.

"I'll never like humans, but you've shown me you care more for your Pokémon more than any human I've ever seen. You could have stayed with the legendary Pokémon and been safe, but you came back to us. You weren't going to leave us to face this danger alone. For that, not only do I respect you, but I trust you," Fearow replied.

"Thank you. I won't let you down. So how about we show Arceus one of your Z moves?" Ash replied with overwhelming confidence.

"I thought you'd never ask," Fearow replied.

They cleared the boulders and landed on top of a building, where Ash jumped off of Fearow and swapped out his Z crystals. They both then performed the synchronized moves, and as the Z energy went to Fearow, so did a bit of Ash's aura to power up the attack.

"SUPERSONIC AIR STRIKE!" Ash yelled out.

Fearow then took off high up into the air while engulfed in a deep blue aura, before making a nose dive, and slammed right into Arceus' back.

Arceus cried out in pain as Fearow flew off from the attack, looking back with pride, and again feeling like the badass he once felt before, for now he was the only Fearow ever to cause the Pokémon god to cry out in pain.
