Chapter 61

Author's Notes:
Good morning everyone, and welcome to yet again, another special Alpha and Omega update. Reason being, it has been brought to my attention that today, October 27, 2019, is the three year anniversary of the greatest moment in Amourshipping, since of course Serena's introduction. Yes three years ago today was the episode where Serena kissed Ash on the escalator before leaving for Hoenn. So to celebrate this wondrous occasion I have decided to release another chapter.

Now before I can let you enjoy this update, I must remind you that I am still looking for a Torrent League theme song and AMV. We are up to two entries, which is good, but you all can do better. So let's get those entries in already, you have until Nov 29th.

Alright I'm done, almost. If you like my work please vote, feel free to comment, and please share this story with your friends. I now present to you chapter 61, enjoy.

"Alright Lucario. What's our aura training for today?" Ash asked as he and Lucario walked into a clearing.

"Aura manipulation," Lucario replied.

It had been a little over a week since the incident with Hunter J in Pamplona, and they were currently in the forest heading to the city of Burgos for Ash's final gym badge. Lucario had lightened up on Ash's training after what happened, as he could tell the incident left Ash scared mentally. He was happy though to see as time progressed he started to improve, and Serena seemed to be the one to attribute that to.

————————————————————————
Three days after Hunter J's death

All was quiet in Ash and Serena's room as everyone slept. The only noise was of the dull hum coming from the air conditioner. Suddenly, Ash shot up in bed in a cold sweat with a panicked expression on his face. He looks around to reorient himself as his heart rate begins to slow to normal. He runs his hands through his hair as he takes a sigh of relief as he realizes it was all just another nightmare of the horrific incident a few days prior. He looks down to see his love sleeping peacefully, her body half exposed due to his sudden rise removing the sheets from her. Carefully, he replaces the sheets on her so she doesn't get cold, and climbs out of bed, afraid to go back to sleep and reexperience the nightmare.

Ever since the attack, Ash had hardly slept, and when he did he relived the attack in vivid detail, all the way to Hunter J's death. Ash had done something he never thought he would. He took a life, but not just one. Close to a dozen people died at his hands. Even though he didn't remember it at the time, his subconscious did, and was now replaying their screams and faces as he killed them in his sleep. And if it wasn't that, it was a nightmare focused around Serena's death, despite the fact she wasn't actually dead anymore.

Ash tried talking to people about this, but they were no help. The police arranged for him to speak to a therapist, but she just got on Ash's nerves. He even tried talking to Paul, but he was no help either. He at least told Ash he didn't think he could be of any help, and just told him his perspective, being the henchmen were trying to kill them, so he felt no remorse for their deaths. Out of everyone Ash didn't want to talk about was Serena the most, mostly because he was afraid of how she would see him now.

Ash sighed then threw on a t-shirt and shorts, put on his shoes, and walked out of the room. There was one person he knew that might be able to help that he had been pushing off talking to, but now felt like the right time. He walked down to the lobby and into one of the video phone booths so he could have some privacy, and began to call the only person he felt could help him. It was after midnight in Torrent, meaning it would be morning in Kanto, so there was a chance his mother was awake. Ash hadn't spoken to his mother since William told him his mother was an Aura Guardian, how she was with Team Rocket when it was an organization for good, and her last encounter with Giovanni.

"Good morning, Ketchum residence," Delia said as she picked up for audio.

"Hey mom," Ash replied in a monotone voice.

The call immediately switched to video as Delia's face appeared on the screen, excited to talk with her son. "Ash, how are you? How's Torrent? How's Serena? How is....." Delia started off in an excited tone that matched her expression. But that all stopped when she realized the expression on Ash's face, showing something was very wrong. "Ash, what's wrong?" Delia asked, her motherly concern clearly evident.

"It's a long story. Do you have time?" Ash asked in a sad tone.

"Of course. I always have time to listen to you," Delia replied as in a comforting tone.

"Ok," Ash took a deep breath then began. "We're in Pamplona for the running of the Tauros. I was running on the first day and, there was an attack."

"Are you and Serena ok?" Delia asked urgently.

"Physically yes. Mom, I was the target," Ash said as he was clearly holding back tears.

"What?!" Delia replied in shock.

"It was being led by a Pokémon Hunter I encountered in Sinnoh, Hunter J. She killed Serena right in front of me..."

"Oh Arceus no," Delia said as she covered her mouth in shock.

"But somehow she's alive now."

"What?! How?" Deli replied in confusion.

Ash just shrugged and continued. "When I saw her die, I snapped. My aura made my hands like blades and... and....I," Ash was choking up at this point as the tears started flowing. "I kill them. A bunch of henchmen and Hunter J herself. I killed them all." Ash started bawling at this point.

"Oh no Ash," Delia said sympathetically as her heart broke to see her son like this but not be there for him.

"Part of me wanted to kill them. Does that make me a monster?" Ash asked as the tears poured from his eyes.

"No sweetie, of course not. You are far too kind of a person to be a monster. The fact that you're in this state is proof enough that you could never be a monster," Delia replied as she too started to cry.

"How did you do it?" Ash asked as he tried to calm down.

"Do what?" Delia asked as she wiped the tears from her eyes.

"Be able to live with yourself after killing. William told me about what you did, after Giovanni killed dad," Ash admitted.

"He what?!" Delia replied in shock.

"Don't be mad at him for telling me. I kind of pushed him into a corner. He also told me about you being an aura guardian. That's kind of why I haven't called until now. But after what happened to me, I kind of feel like I can relate to your past," Ash replied.

"I'm so sorry you learned like that. I know we'll have to have a long talk about so much. You deserve answers, and since you already know so much already, I'll give them all to you. But to answer your first question, I'm afraid it's going to be harder for you than it was for me," Delia said, ending with a sadden tone and look at the end.

"Why?" Ash asked.

"I was raised very different from you. My mother not only taught me how to use my aura, but also how to kill. With our work as Team Rocket she would tell me, kill one save a thousand. I killed so many by the time Giovanni killed your father, that combined with my training it was easier for me," Delia explained. "I think that's why I didn't want to train you in aura. I was afraid you would fall down the same path as I was born into. I wanted you to be happy and not live with that kind of weight on your shoulders, I wanted you to live without the burden of taking a life."

"I see," Ash said as he sounded disappointed.

"But I can tell you this," Delia said getting Ash's head to perk back up. "Lean on Serena. Despite what you did, as much as she loves you, not only will she stand by you, but she will be able to help you find your way back to yourself again."

————————————————————————
Present

"But I already know how to do that," Ash replied in a whinny tone.

"Not to the level we will be working on today. During your battle with the Pokémon Hunter, you unlocked a higher level of aura manipulation. Today we will be working to master that," Lucario explained.

Upon hearing this Ash's face darkened as he remembered the battle. "Can't we work on something else, not related to fighting?"

"Yes it can be used for combat, but this can be used for so much more," Lucario stated enthusiastically, then created an aura sphere in his right paw. "When my father showed this to me, he first created an aura sphere in one hand, then just by focusing his mind, he was able to change it into a Lucario." Lucario's aura sphere then changed shape, and became a small Lucario in his paw. "He then had it throw punches and kicks before it jumped off his paw and burst into a display in the likes of which could be seen in mistress Serena's performances." Lucario then closed his paw, causing the aura Lucario to break apart in a sparkly blue display. "Alas my skills are not yet up to my father's level. So this is best I can do."

"That was so cool! Just to create that with so much detail, you should be really proud," Ash replied with an excited encouragement, then an idea popped into his head. "Hey, you know what? You should work with Serena and Gardevoir to do that in one of their performances! As close as you and Gardevoir have been lately, I'm sure she'd be excited to work with you!"

Lucario blushed as he turned away. "Master, please focus. My love life is not today's topic of study."

"Who said anything about love? I didn't," Ash replied in a teasing manner.

"Focus Master," Lucario replied, trying to get Ash back on topic. Although Lucario was happy to see Ash smiling and happy again without Serena's help, showing Ash would eventually get back to normal.

Ash and Lucario trained for about an hour before calling it a day. Ash wasn't able to create anything close to what Lucario created, only basic geometric shapes. Lucario praised Ash for his progress, as to even be able to do that on his first attempt was impressive. They returned to the campsite to see Serena putting out the Pokémon's lunch, with their food already on the table. They all ate their food as usual, with the topic of quiet discussion being Lucario and Gardevoir, as she was snuggled up close to him similar to Delphox and Greninja.

All was peaceful. The Eevees finished eating and began to run around playing, Metagross knocked down a tree as he tried to join them, forgetting that he was much larger now, Lucario was looking a little embarrassed by all the sly looks he was getting while Gardevoir was enjoying everyone looking at them, and Ash was eating his third bowl of stew. Yes, at that moment all was right in the world.

Then several small bombs started dropping from above, destroying the peace and happiness. Several of the Pokémon were blown away from where they were. Greninja quickly scooped up Delphox and their egg to dodge a bomb, while Gardevoir teleported herself and Lucario to safety as he was about to pick her up to try and avoid another. Smoke filled the air resulting coughing and an inability to see what was happening. Despite not being able to see, their hearing was working just fine, as the cries of several of the Pokémon could be heard. As the smoke cleared, a blue glowing device could be seen in the middle of the campsite, Metagross was in an electrified cage, Pikachu was in a shatter proof glass ball, Fearow, Milotic, Rapidash, and Sylveon were restrained in energy bands, and a Meowth shaped hot air balloon was in the air above them.

"Team Rocket!" Ash and Serena yelled.

"Prepare for trouble."

"And make it double."

"To protect the world from devastation."

"To unit all peoples within our nation"

"To denounce the evils of truth and love."

"To extend our reach to the stars above."

"Jessie."

"James."

"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light."

"Surrender now or prepare to fight."

"Meowth that's right."

"Wobbufett."

Jessie, James, Meowth, and Wobbufett stood proudly in their balloon, with several of Jessie and James's Pokémon out and around them. Jessie and James were holding what looked like rocket launchers on their shoulders, while the Pokémon were all wearing gear similar to what Meowth and Wobbufett had in Kalos when they tried to overpower Korrina's Mega Lucario.

Ash and Serena both became angry at the sight of the trio and looked to their Pokémon to attack, but noticed several of them trying to cover their ears with pained looks on their faces.

"Lucario, what's wrong?" Ash asked with concern.

"The noise," Lucario grunted out.

"Noise?" Ash thought out loud, not understanding what Lucario was talking about since he couldn't hear anything. Then it hit him, "The device! It must be making some kind of super high pitched noise we can't hear that's hurting our Pokémon with better hearing!"

"Ash, I can't use my powers." Serena said with a worried tone that matched the expression on her face. Ash then tried to form an aura sphere but had the same results.

"The noise that device is making must be some how preventing us from using our powers!" Ash deduced.

"So you already figured it out," Jessie said confidently and unworried they could lose this time.

"The Team Rocket Scientists worked hard to develop a device that to stop Psychics and Aura Guardians from using their powers," James said proudly.

Ash clenched his teeth in frustration as they already managed to weaken them. "Greninja quick, use Water Shuriken to take out that device!"

Greninja slapped the Xs on his thighs, then threw the water shurikens at the device. However Mareanie jumped down and fired Sludge Bomb to cancel out the attack, while Seviper struck Greninja with Poison Tail, knocking Greninja back as it poisoned him.

"Can't have you destroying our toys now," Jessie commented as she pointed the rocket launcher at Greninja and fired. The rocket broke apart as several smaller sections hit Greninja and wrapped around him, binding him so he couldn't move.

"Greninja!" Ash cries out.

"Quick Meloetta, Relic Song!" Serena called out. Meloetta then began singing to take on her pirouette form.

"Can't have that now," James said as he fired a rocket at her. It did the same as the one that hit Greninja, but also covered Meloetta's mouth.

Team Rocket then started firing rockets wildly at those that weren't restrained, including Ash and Serena. Delphox tried to dodge, but found it difficult as the sound was hurting her too, and could only cover one ear as she held her egg. Eventually she was restrained, forcing her to toss her egg into a bush with the hopes that it would be safe. Everyone appeared to be caught as the trio landed their hot air balloon to gloat about their victory.

"Ha, it may have taken us eight years, but we finally did it twerp, we finally beat you. Your Pokémon are all ours!" Jessie gloated with pride.

"Ooo, what do we have over here?" James said excitedly as he walked to a bush, and pulled out Delphox's egg.

"DELPHOX DELPHOX!" Delphox screamed as she flailed around on the ground, her voice seething with rage.

"Um, care to translate old chum?" James asked Meowth.

Meowth gulped as he listened to Delphox. "Trust me James, you don't want to know what she's saying. Just be sure to stay away from her. That's her egg."

"Not anymore," Jessie said cheerfully as she came over and snatched the egg from James. "This little cutie will make a great addition to my team." She then walked off as she talked about her plans for the Pokémon inside. They were all so full of themselves, they didn't realize they only caught eleven Pokémon, meaning two were still unaccounted for. The trio and their Pokémon were so fixated on the egg, they failed to notice the two Eevee crouched down under the bush watching them.

"W-w-What do we do?" The female Eevee asked quietly as she shook with fear.

"We're going to stop them!" The male Eevee replied back with confidence.

"What?! How? They beat everyone else, and we're not as strong as any of them," The female Eevee questioned as she got lower to the ground.

"Come on, we can't quit! If we do, they'll take mom and dad," the male Eevee urged.

"But we can't beat them," she repeated as tears started to leave her eyes.

The male Eevee looked away and to the ground as he knew she was right, but then he perked up as he had an idea. "We don't need to beat them. Didn't you hear? That glowing thing is keeping most of them from using their powers! If we can destroy that and help some of the others break free, they'll be able to fight and beat them," the male Eevee said with enthusiasm.

"Do you really think we can do it?" The female Eevee asked in a hopeful tone.

"I know we can!" The male Eevee replied with determination. The two Eevees then started making their plan to free everyone, however they didn't stay unnoticed for long.

"Hey, it's the Twerp and Twerpette's Eevees," Meowth yelled as he pointed to the bush.

Realizing they had been discovered, the two Eevees started running in different directions, but with the same goal of the glowing device. Seviper tried to stop the female Eevee with Poison Tail, swinging the blade shaped part of its tail as it glowed purple. Eevee managed to dodge by jumping gracefully over it, but was then hit with a Psybeam from Inkay.

Meanwhile Mareanie tried to stop the male Eevee with Spike Cannon, sending dozens of glowing white spikes towards him. Eevee countered with Swift, sending multiple golden stars, that intercepted the spikes and cancelled them out. He then used Double Team to dodge Carnivine's Vine Whip, but was then hit by Mime Jr's Teeter Dance, leaving him stumbling dizzy. He was then hit with a Shadow Ball from Yamask.

Both Eevees were knocked back and landed beside one another. The male Eevee shook off the damage and stood back up ready to try again. The female Eevee did the same, but was slower as she was scared again as she saw Team Rocket and their Pokémon between them and everyone else.

"We can't do this, they're too strong," she said as she shook.

"I don't care, we have to keep going! If we fail, we lose everyone we love. Mom, Dad, Ash, Serena, Uncle Fearow, all of them. Like they all say, never give up till the end," the male Eevee said with inspirational determination, as thunder could be heard rumbling in the distance.

The female Eevee's resolve was reinforced by his words, as the fear of the cost of losing was worse than her fear of their opponents. "You're right, we keep fighting for everyone! For those we love!" The female Eevee yelled.

At the moment, both of their minds were in sync, and they both began to glow white.
