The music was blasting and Jessica was actually having fun. She had been talking to Liz and Betty all night long, dancing to the music and drinking from their red cups. She hadn't seen Peter for a while, though. Fortunately, the DJ, who happened to be Flash, publicly uncovered his whereabouts.

"Penis Parker, what's up? So where's your pal Spider-Man? Let me guess: In Canada with your imaginary girlfriend?" He even used sound effects for a comic purpose. Jessica walked to the DJ table, as he kept talking. "That's not Spider-Man. That's just Ned in a red shirt."

Peter left right after his public humiliation.

"Hey, Flash stop it." She pulled him away from the table. He needed to stop talking about the super-hero. It was getting on Jessica's nerves. "That's not cool."

"Oh la la, the new girl's defending Parker." He laughed, making fun of her comment. Then he leaned over her, too close for her taste, and winked at her. "Sup?"

Jessica rolled her eyes and backed up, trying to get away from him. Luckily someone came to her rescue.

"I don't think she's interested, Flash. Leave her alone." A tall girl with curly hair stood between her and the jerk. Flash pulled away, going back to his DJ duties.

"Thanks." Jessica told the girl.

"He's like that all the time, don't take it personally."

"I wasn't going to anyways."

The tall girl smiled at her. "I like you, you can call me MJ."

"I'm Jess."

"You're here with Peter, right?" She asked and quickly added. "I'm not a stalker, I'm just very observant."

"Yes, I am." Jessica was glad that she didn't ask about where was she staying. She didn't like the idea of people knowing Peter and her were living together. It wasn't that she was embarrassed, she just didn't want any rumours spreading.

"He's a nice dude."

"Well, yeah-" She started, but realised the boy they were talking about was nowhere to be seen. "Where is he though?"

When Jessica turned her sight towards the window to her left, she would have never thought she'd see what she saw. Peter was standing on the roof of the garage and was taking his clothes off to reveal his Spider-Man suit. She knew she had to stop him.

"I gotta go find him." She quickly said to MJ, who looked at her bewildered. "We're doing a project together and I've just remembered about something really important."

The girl had no time to reply since Jessica left as fast as she could.

"Hey, what's up? I'm Spider-Man. Just thought I'd swing by and say hello to my buddy Peter. Oh, what's up, Ned? Hey, where's Peter, anyways? He must be around..." Peter was talking to himself, holding his mask on his hands. "God, this is stupid. What am I doing?"

"Yeah, what are you doing, Peter?"

He turned around, holding his breath as he thought his secret identity had been revealed. Then he saw it was Jessica. "Oh, it's you!"

"Peter, just..." She thought about how to lay out her words. "don't listen to what Flash says. He's an idiot. You're way smarter than him, and I'm not talking just about school grades. Just don't lower yourself to his level, it's not worth it."

"But I just- I just want people to see me as more than just a nerd."

"If people don't see you as more than a nerd, that's their problem."

They were just a few inches away from each other, but neither of them seemed to back up. Neither of them seemed to want it. Jessica's words had meant something to Peter. He liked to hear that someone disagreed with Flash. He would have never thought that a girl like her would think that about him.

He knew that if he showed up as Spider-Man to the party she would be pissed off and that perhaps she would even tell Mr. Stark his irresponsible decision. Then, he started questioning his true motivations to make an appearance as his alter ego: to proof Flash wrong and impress the girl he liked. Was he maybe trying to impress the wrong girl?

The moment was ruined when an explosion was heard in the background. The two teenagers turned around to see a bright cloud of smoke in the distance.

"What was that?"

"Peter..."

"It looks like an explosion."

She grabbed him by the arm and warned him. "Don't you even think about it."

"I have to check out no one got hurt." He put on his mask and shot a web.

"No you don't. This has nothing to do with you. Let's go back to the party." She couldn't stop him. A second later he had left. "Peter!"

Jessica sighed and ran a hand through her hair, not knowing what to do. The spider-boy was driving her crazy, it was impossible to control. Her heart beat a million times per minute. He could get seriously if she didn't stop him. She looked down, through the window she could see everything that was happening in the party. She found Ned, Peter's friend. He was looking for someone and she knew exactly who it was.

Her sight fell on a motorcycle parker on the driveway. She had never stolen anything, let along a vehicle. But desperate times called for desperate measures. She jumped from the garage roof, landing perfectly. She sat down on the motorcycle.

This shouldn't be more difficult than riding a bike. She thought and placed her hands on the handlebars. On the right one was a red button. She pressed it and held it what made the vehicle's engine to start. She turned the throttle and the motorcycle started moving, faster than she expected.

"Woah!" She screamed, surprised at first. Then, she adjusted herself. "Okay, alright, I can do this."

Where has he gone. As she rode down the road and away from the house, she tried to remember in which way Peter had gone. No more than a few minutes had past when she heard another explosion, actually pretty close to her. As she passed over a bridge, she heard someone talking below it.

"What was that?" It was Peter, lying on the ground. She rode down to where he was. There was a van that was starting its engine and before she could do something, Peter shot a web to it.

"Hey- don't! Don't do that!" She exclaimed, but it was too late. The van was driving and the boy in the spider suit was being dragged behind it. "Such a stupid bug."

She started the motorcycle again and followed them down the road. From time to time, she could hear Peter groaning in pain. Eventually, the web split, leaving the hero behind. When this happened Jessica had lost him. She saw the van, but she didn't know where the teenage boy was.

Out of the blue, something unfamiliar flew over the van. It looked like a huge bird with robotic wings. Jessica thought it reminded her of the suit of one of the Avengers: the Falcon. He then started flying upwards and Jessica realised it was carrying someone. It was carrying Spider-man.

She speeded up and turned left on a bridge that crossed the East River. She could clearly see the two figures from there. Suddenly, one of them started falling, and it wasn't the robotic bird. Spider-man was going to crash on land. Hurrying up, Jessica jumped out of the motorcycle and focused on the boy. She extended her hands forwards and channeled all of her energy on trying to divert his trajectory.

It worked and the boy landed on water. Nevertheless, Jessica's relieved didn't last as he seemed to be taking to much time to emerge back.

And then another robotic figure dived into the water to pull him out. She saw it landing on the riverside. The panic forced the girl to get on the motorcycle once more and follow its direction, hoping nothing would happen to Peter by the time she'd got there.
