Jessica saw the car entering the headquarters' facilities. Knowing Peter Parker was inside that car, she ran out of her room excited. A few days had passed since homecoming and she hadn't seen or talked to the boy since.

She had stayed with Tony, running tests to better understand her powers. They were back and she was stronger than ever. He kept insisting on recruiting her as an Avenger and she hadn't given him a proper answer yet. She was still hesitant.

Jessica almost tripped going down the stairs, but finally made it where Tony and Peter were. They were talking, and she knew exactly about what. Tony was going to ask Peter to join the team, as well. One of the first things that Jessica learnt about him was how desperately he wanted to be an Avenger, and she wanted to be there when it happened.

"Mr Stark, I really-" Peter stopped talking mid sentence when he saw Jessica standing behind Tony.

"Hi." She said as they both walked closer to each other.

"Hey, Jess. Hi." Peter was trying to remain calm, but his nerves were kind of obvious. "Hi."

Tony sighed, getting the hint. "Do you- I can leave you alone."

Jessica nodded. "That'd be great."

"Yep." Agreed Peter. "Thanks, Mr Stark."

"I'll still be around, though." He said. "And there's security cameras."

Tony walked to the other part of the big room and started talking to Happy. Jessica smiled at Peter, happy to see him. "How was the ride up?"

"Good." He replied. "I- It feels like it's been a lot of time..."

She finished the sentence. "Since the last time we saw each other, yeah." And yet only three days had passed. "I'll be back to school next week. I think it will be different from now on."

"That's great!"

"Yeah, it is." They both sighed, nervous.

Peter stepped closer to her. "Listen, I- about what happened on homecoming night... between us..." He tried not to stutter. "Well, I still feel the same way but if you don't want anything to happen then-"

Jessica cut him off by placing her hands on the sides of his face and pulling him down into a kiss. With that single action she expressed what she couldn't do with just words.

"I do want something to happen." She smiled after pulling away. "Just in case it wasn't clear."

Peter's smile was gigantic. He leaned in to give her another kiss when Mr Stark stepped in.

"Alright, time's up!" Both of them pulled away and looked at him. "It's my turn to talk. Listen, you screwed the pooch hard, bigtime. But then you did the right thing. Took the dog to the free clinic, you raised the hybrid puppies... All right, not my best analogy. I was wrong about you. I think, with a little more mentoring you could be a real asset to the team."

Peter eyes widened and his gaze went back and forth from Jessica to Tony. "To the- to the team?" Jessica nodded and held his hand.

Tony continued to explain what his plan was. "Yeah. Anyway, there's about 50 reporters behind that door. Real ones, not bloggers. When you're ready, why don't you try that on?" He pressed a button and a brand new Spider-Man suit was revealed from the wall. Peter contemplated the scene astonished. "And I'll introduce the world to the newest official member of the Avengers: Spider-Man."

"Can I-" He asked for permission to have a better look at the new suit.

"Yeah, give that a look. After the press conference, Happy and Jess will show you to your room. Where's he between?"

"You're between Vision and me." Jessica explained. "It's fun, Vision's not big on doors. Or walls."

"Well, your situation isn't definite, young girl." Tony told her. "If you're not an Avenger you're not going to stay here forever."

"Thank you, Mr Stark." Said Peter, really grateful. "But I'm good."

Tony almost thought he had misheard the boy. "You're good? Good? How are you good?"

"Well, I mean, I'd rather just stay on the ground for a little while. Friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. Somebody's got to look out for the little guy, right? "

"You're turning me down? You better think about this. Look at that. Look at me. Last chance. Yes or no?"

"No."

"Okay. It's kind of a Springsteen-y, working-class hero vibe that I dig."

Peter turned to Jessica. "I'm sorry Jess, I just-"

She stopped him. "It's okay. I didn't expect less from you." Proud of him, she gave him a quick peck on the lips. "I'll come to visit you."

"That'd be amazing." He smiled. "May really misses you."

"Happy will take you home." Stark cut them off again. He spoke directly to Peter now. "Mind waiting in the car? I need a minute."

"Thank you, Mr Stark." He said once more before leaving.

"Yes, Mr Parker, very well. See you around."

"Okay." He waved them goodbye and walked away, but he turned around halfway. "That was a test, right? There's nobody back there?"

Jessica struggled to contain a laugh, earning a glare from the billionaire. "Yes, you passed. All right, skedaddle there, young buck."

"Thank you, Mr Stark."

"Yeah, thank you." This time, before Peter turned around, Jessica made a phone with her fingers and mouthed a quick call me. After that, he finally left for good.

Jessica turned to the older man. "Told you he's a good kid."

"Where's the kid?" Pepper asked from behind them, as she entered the room. Jessica had the chance to see a peak at all the reporters on the other side of the door.

"He left." Replied the younger girl.

Pepper looked at Tony, stressed and pointing at the door from where she had come from. "Everybody's waiting."

"He actually made a mature choice. It just surprised the heck out of us."

"Did you screw this up?"

"He told him to go wait in the car."

"Are you kidding? I have a room full of people in there waiting for some big announcement. What will I tell them?" Pepper was just starting to freak out when Jessica spoke, suddenly.

"You can tell them you're introducing the world to the newest official member of the Avengers." She earned a look from the two adults, who looked at her confused.

"You-" Tony comprehended what she meant when he saw her pointing to herself. "Are you serious?"

"I thought about it, Tony." She began. "I've learnt something from Peter: if you don't do anything when bad things happen, they're kinda your fault. I wanna help. And it's not like I can keep it on the low like Peter. He's got a mask, as long as he keeps it on, he's fine. In my case everybody would know." She added. "And you know, go big or go home. What's bigger than the Avengers?"

Stark pinched the bridge of his nose as he processed the girl's words. "I'm going to end up with a stroke, between the both of you." He turned to Pepper. "What a day full of surprises. Alright, that's fine by me. Let's get out there."

They went to the other room, where maybe a few dozens of reporters where anxiously waiting for the announcement. As soon as they walked in, the camera flashes almost blinded Jessica and she knew in that moment that there was no going back.

"Welcome everybody. Thank you all for coming today. The reason we have met you all here is because of an announcement we are thrilled to make." Tony spoke. "I'm proud to introduce you to the newest official member of the Avengers." He looked at Jessica and the whole room bursted questioning and began to take pictures once again.

"What's her name?!" Jessica heard that question repeat multiple times. A reporter got closer to them and reached her arm out subjecting a microphone. "What's your name?!" She asked.

Jessica walked closer to her and leaned over to the microphone to answer. The room seemed to become quieter and quieter, awaiting for the answer.

"Cadmia."
